All right, so I'm pleased that we're all here on New Year's Eve

and I just hope you'll notice that the man who was playing the drums,

because it's this same man that has played on, unbelievably,

all 23 Hootenannies and I've been playing with this amazing drummer,

I think you'll agree, the man that has been setting the pulse

for New Year's Eve and for me all these years.

The most incredible drummer perhaps you will ever see,

ladies and gentlemen.

But wait, there's more than this.

Because, to me, we were looking at our diaries

and I realised that on the 31st of December, in 1977,

was the day that we first met, in a stinking rehearsal -

we've got the photograph there -

where we first met in this horrible rehearsal room...

That's me dressed as a woman and that's him there.

If you could show the people that.

And this was an incredible meeting because from that day

we've been working together ever since,

playing in some of the worst places, sleeping in the backs of vans.

And finally, tonight, something like this,

playing to you and all the people in this room,

is like a highlight for us.

And on top of all of this, on top of all this,

he told me one thing this evening - that man told me

one thing that he'd never, ever told me before.

And I would like to share that with you, ladies and gentlemen.

Just before we came to this room to make this show tonight,

he told me his name.

I can now reveal that it is Gilson Lavis on the drums!
