Paramore Reading and Leeds Festival

I'm here on the Main Stage of Reading Festival 2014 for your

co-headliners tonight, with the mighty Queens of the Stone Age,

they've been toured their f-titled album for two years. They've flown

over from the United States of America especially to play at

Reading and Leeds. Broken their tour over there because this festival

means so much. I am so excited. The crowd are going crazy. We've been

Paramore on the Main Stage. It was incredible. You were shaking after

the interview. I'm alright now. I've calmed down. How was it? It was

brilliant. They've got so much energy. They were loving it and

suddenly everything cut out, and you could hear the crowd shout ing mic!

on for a moment and sat down and got the crowd the sing ach Pella. -- a

was a lovely moment from Paramore earlier today. Did you cry? I shed a

tiny tear. Hey, what links Paramore with your next Treehouse guest? I

it was a band called a Now Now. They said, is that your mate from

We've got a lot of performances in the Treehouse this weekend, but I

would say that's the one to beat. Thank you so much for having us. You

were written about in the Guardian this week saying you are one of the

ten things you have to see at this festival. Me? Yes! The crowd was an

indication of that. They were all there, crowd surfing, waving. It was

APPLAUSE 's finest. Welcome to our Treehouse. How was your day? It's

been amazing. It is only the second year we've had our own stage here at

Reading and Leeds. Just the vibe that you get from the crowd, they

know the music that we are playing. They know the artists that are

performing. Some of the artists performing this weekend are so big

at this time it's the amazing we've got them. Lizzo is about to support

Chvrches. An important artist. Very important artist, and she is very

much at stage one of her journey. It's been great to be part of that

at 1Xtra, championing her early. DJ Semtex was playing stuff off her mix

tape before my other DJ knew what it was she did. You see the way she

commanded the 1Xtra stage earlier. She's got a bright future ahead of

her. A lot of people are like, what is 1Xtra's job? We support artists

early and give them careers. Whether it was Disclosure, before anyone

else knew who there were, we were supporting her on 1Xtra. Lizzo can

go and perform alongside rappers or a band. It is about good quality

music. She reminds me of like when you had acts like Kid Sister coming

through, they could play on any bill. If someone had said to me five

years ago there's going to be a 1Xtra stage, I would say, really?

We've got over that Glastonbury, Noel Gallagher and Jay Z thing,

black music has no place at a festival. The look at what people

are looking at now. Genre boundaries are being broken down. It is not a

surprise to see people from a traditional ly indie background

working with people from an urban background. I played my set earlier

and I've played many festival this is summer. It was one of the best

reaction it is I've had. It was amazing. It is traditionally a rock

festival, a guitar festival, but it has changed with the times, as the

genres are broken down. You don't have to like one style of music any

more. I think that Reading and Leeds have done well to expand themselves

like that and go you are allowed to like whatever you want and you can

like Paramore. You can go and watch Lizo, watch your set. We had Kate

Tempest up here. She's amazing. There's a lot of stuff here. If you

are not catering for a little bit of something for everyone, you will see

why so many festivals are failing. These days you are it is so very

hard to find someone who is into just when genre of music. I'm a

1Xtra DJ but the last thing I bought is Royal Blood. Their album is

amazing. Go and see them tomorrow. Thank you Mr Jam. We are going to

Proper demon eyes. Tonight at 10307pm on BBC Three we've got

Queens of the Stone Age. Let's look at what makes a them so amazing. One

of the coolest bands in rock, tonight Queens of the Stone Age take

their rightful stage as headliners on the Main Stage at Reading.

Hailing from the Californian desert they've got six riff-filled albums.

Like Clockwork was full of instant classics. Somewhat fluid this their

line-up, there's always been one staple. The frontman, the tattooed

rock God Josh. A musical genius, we love him. He knows why. I don't know

if you have heard this, but I'm kind of addictive. There's ma returning

members and collaborators, sometimes with tops on, sometimes with tops

off, or just naked! And, of course, they love this festival and are back

for the fifth time. Their first as headliners. After a six-year break

they are having their greatest moment yet. But there's only one

thing you need to know, Reading - they rock.

They do rock. You are right. There was someone here earlier who said,

I've just seen Josh backstage and he was playing softball with his

children. You get to that level I think, Dave Grohl is also really

chilled. Rock stars are people too. This one says I'm sorry for my
