Palestinians in parts of Gaza take refuge in emergency

shelters, as Israel warns its offensive will continue overnight.

Some Palestinians are leaving their homes in search of Shelter after the

death toll rises above 160. The Archbishop

of Canterbury makes the case for women bishops, ahead of a

crucial vote in the Synod tomorrow. Why 500 a children a week are now

turning up to hospitals in England And could Germany become

the first European team to lift Argentina stand between them

and sporting history. A deadly night of Israeli airstrikes

on Gaza is claimed to have killed 17 members of the same family,

in the latest stage of an offensive Since then,

officials in Gaza say more than 160 In Israel, there have been no

fatalities, although a teenager was In a moment, Quentin Sommerville

reports from Ashdod, in Israel. But first, our Middle East

Editor Jeremy Bowen from Gaza. For much of the night, the wounded

and the dead were what into this hospital. It was the most sustained

responsible for civilian deaths when Israel retaliates -- attacks them.

At times like this, life and death are overshadowed by one reality,

over 70 years of conflict with Israel is no prospect of it ending.

North of Gaza city, most people left their homes after Israel warned it

might expand its operations. This man and his family were moving after

the Israeli deadline. The shelling was close. The displaced families,

just as in the last two complex, are in UN schools. They settled in as if

it was part of their regular routine. This man, a strawberry

farmer, has nine children and more than 100 grandchildren. He said he

would never allow Hamas to use them as he human shields, as Israel

claims. -- human shields. The chances are, this war, like the

last two, will end in a cease-fire, but not yet.

In spite of increasing calls for a ceasefire, including one from

the United Nations , the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu

told a meeting of his cabinet this morning that the current operation

Do you speak Hebrew, an Israeli soldier asks in this military

recording. When Israel strikes Gaza, this is the warning it gives to go

-- to those on the ground. You have five minutes to leave. Then I'm --

then a missile hits. More air strikes today, the calls are meant

to minimise civilian casualties at schools of Palestinian women and

children die when the missiles hit. The blame for that, says Benjamin

Netanyahu, lies with Hamas. Our goal is to achieve sustainable

quiet and security for our people and we do that by grading Hamas. I

am not saying right now how and when that goal will be achieved, a

diplomatic and military means, but that goal has to be achieved --

whether by diplomatic. Rockets from Gaza continues to hit Israel today,

this landing in a Southern city. These attacks cause fear but the

military advantage is Israel's. The missile system gives Israel an

advantage over Hamas. It intercepts and deploys rockets, and is the

reason why almost a week into this complex, not a single Israeli has

been killed by Hamas. Support for Israel's air campaign is almost

universal. It is necessary, but Israel should

define its goals in a better way and what it wants to achieve. It is

about time we take time Hamas and Benjamin Netanyahu is doing the

right thing and I hope he will take the foot soldiers and go and

eradicate Hamas. Israel's tanks stand ready to invade Gaza but among

Israelis, there is not widespread support for a ground offensive.

That, for now, maybe all stomping this conflict that maybe all that is

stopping this conflict from escalating.

The Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, has told the BBC it's

important for the Church of England to accept female bishops.

His comments come ahead of a vote on the issue at the Church's General

Archbishop Welby says if the vote is in favour, the first woman bishop

At Saint Mary is, Primrose Hill, celebrating holy Communion this

morning, the congregation takes their woman priest for granted -- at

Mary's. Women priests, once seen as unthinkable, are now indispensable

and they make up a third of Anglican clergy.

Be Christians, we are people, and nobody said it had to be men only.

Women bishops I think is a marvellous idea. Why did we not do

it before? Traditionalists who do not want to

serve under a woman, have given new concessions. Parishes can request a

male alternative and go to an ombudsman if there is a dispute.

Evangelicals say it is not enough. We wanted to carry on with male

leadership in our churches. Unfortunately, this package insists

churches need to go to a woman outside their Church to find out

what happens inside their Church and that is a problem, that is very

difficult for us. Anglican leaders accept the

Church's reputation has been damaged by the long debate over whether to

give women equal status. I think to the general public, this

is almost incomprehensible. And it is incomprehensible we are still

talking about it. What is the timescale? There is a

good chance the first woman bishop will be announced at the very --

very early in 2015. Members of the Synod met at York

Minster this morning and they prayed for wisdom in making one of the

biggest decisions of their lives. It seems the Synod could be on the

brink of a historic decision, picking a long tradition of male

only bishops going back to the time of Jesus.

Not for at least 20 years has the future of the Church swung so

decisively on a single vote. But the scorching -- but that is

cautious optimism among campaigners. A handful of moderates defeated it

last time and four say they are ready to change their minds.

Nearly 500 young children a week are being admitted to hospital

According to new figures from the NHS, tooth decay is now the

main reason five to nine year olds in England are treated in hospital.

Dentists say some of the children need as many as 14 teeth extracted.

Open wide. For nine-year old Casper, good news,

no fillings today. But figures from the NHS in England show more

children are being admitted to hospital to have rotten teeth taken

out for any other reason. That is a quick solve to ape Robbyn

to have extractions -- to a problem. Then the child will be without teeth

for a while. It is getting worse. Three years

ago, more than 22,500 children needed hospital treatment and now it

is nearly 26,000. The next big scores is tonsillitis and that is

far behind with just over 11,500 admissions. In extreme cases,

children have required all 20 baby teeth to be extract it, which could

put children of the dentist for life and lead to a lifetime of costly

dental difficulties -- extracted. Dentists say the problem is

overconsumption of soft drinks, including fruit juice which is high

in sugar. They say not only do many parents not understand the dangers

of fizzy drinks and fruit juices but they do not appreciate the benefits

of frequent checkups to detect problems early on.

The parents themselves have not appreciated that what they doing and

giving their children might in fact be contributing to the dental

disease that we find. And that is why we are very keen to emphasise

that water is by far and away the best drink to be giving children.

Brush from the gone to the tooth. Education, say dentists, is the key,

and not just telling children how to brush but educating their parents

and schools to swap sugary soft drinks for water.

everybody thinks this will be easy-going but we have to win it.

The circumstances are just for us because we know we are the better

team and I think the guys know they are under pressure a little bit but

they have to deliver. He at the Maracana, the biggest

security operation Rio has ever seen is under way with 26,000 personnel

on duty. The hope is now events inside this iconic arena deliver a

fitting finale to a memorable month. I have never experienced this level

of excitement leading up to a match, we hope for a good one!

If any final can live up to the billing, it is this. There is a

sense this is the best player in the world against the best team and

there is no doubt Germany will have the momentum. There is a sense this

is their time, Argentina are heavily dependent on Lionel Messi. It is

fascinating and that is why more than 1 billion people are expected

to tune into this game on television. We have the grandest

stages and now we just need a place to perform.
