Good evening. A seven-year-old boy from Aberdeen, who was badly burned

in an incident thought to have involved petrol, is in a critical

condition in hospital. Preston Flores is being cared for in a

special unit at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh.

Steven Duff reports. Police carry out door enquiries,

still trying to find out what happened here yesterday afternoon.

Seven-year-old Preston Flores was seen by neighbours on fire, running,

screaming, trying to does the flames. Overnight, he was

transferred to the Royal Hospital for sick children in Edinburgh for

specialist treatment for their burns he received. The boy is in a

critical condition in Edinburgh. The family out there and we're providing

support. It is a very difficult incident. This is a strong

community. They have now provided a lot of support to those directly

involved and to the officers investigating this, which we are

very grateful for. Emergency services received the call at two

o'clock yesterday. The first fire unit was on the scene within three

minutes. The police are still investigating what happened

yesterday afternoon, but they now say there seems to have been no

deliberate act involved. Officers still want to hear from anyone who

might have seen what happened. Preston Flores's family are acting

suspicious death of a 46-year-old woman in East Ayrshire. Her body

discovered in a flat in Loudoun Road in Newmilns late last night.

Officers are understood to be following a definite line of

inquiry. An 87-year-old man, who fell off a

pier into the sea as he rode his mobility scooter, has died. Stuart

Farquhar was pulled from the water by members of the public at Pennan,

on the north coast of Aberdeenshire, yesterday.

A tower block in Edinburgh was evacuated last night, as bomb

disposal crews investigated reports of a number of suspicious packages.

Fidra Court, in Muirhouse, was sealed off by the police, and

residents were allowed back into their homes shortly after three in

the morning. The broadcaster STV has become the

latest company to leave the CBI, after it formally backed the

campaign against Scottish independence. STV said rules on

impartiality meant it had no choice but to resign. It comes the day

after two other businesses announced they were leaving the employers'

body. The CBI has said it is confident the vast majority of its

membership agrees with its stance on independence.

Easter Sunday last year has been confirmed as the coldest Easter day
