Tonight on Reporting Scotland: The new Prime Minister, Theresa May,

:00:00.:00:07.

comes to Edinburgh for Brexit talks with the First Minister.

:00:08.:00:15.

I want the Scottish Cup match to be fully engaged in our discussions,

:00:16.:00:21.

our considerations, and I will listen to any options they bring

:00:22.:00:26.

forward. The question of Independent is part and parcel of the debate

:00:27.:00:30.

because of the situation Scotland finds itself in.

:00:31.:00:31.

We'll have the reaction from Edinburgh and Westminster.

:00:32.:00:34.

Also on the programme: Flags are at half mast across Scotland

:00:35.:00:37.

as tributes are paid to the victims of the attack in Nice.

:00:38.:00:42.

The campaign to get more people with disabilities elected.

:00:43.:00:49.

We are live at the Open Championship where it has been a wet and

:00:50.:00:55.

turbulence day for the world's top golfers.

:00:56.:00:56.

And from Stirling to Rio, we meet the Scots swimmers

:00:57.:00:58.

The Prime Minister says she'll listen to all options for Scotland

:00:59.:01:18.

to have a different relationship with the EU.

:01:19.:01:20.

Theresa May used her first trip in the post to visit Edinburgh,

:01:21.:01:22.

and dismissed the prospect of another independence referendum.

:01:23.:01:26.

However, the First Minister says independence is "part and parcel"

:01:27.:01:29.

of the debate surrounding the UK's exit from the European Union.

:01:30.:01:32.

Our political correspondent, Andrew Kerr, is in the capital for us.

:01:33.:01:39.

Yes, Sally, the terrible events in Nice have led to some speculation

:01:40.:01:50.

that the Prime Minister might want to postpone her visit to Scotland,

:01:51.:01:55.

but she didn't want to do that. Her supporters say she wanted to get her

:01:56.:01:58.

relationship with Scotland off on the right foot.

:01:59.:02:02.

In her new role, it seems Theresa May doesn't want any barriers to

:02:03.:02:08.

discussions with the First Minister. The police were highly visible

:02:09.:02:10.

discussions with the First Minister. outside Nicola Sturgeon's official

:02:11.:02:13.

residence. Both women pledged to cooperate on security after the me

:02:14.:02:22.

attack. -- Nice attack. Another pledge, as the First Minister seeks

:02:23.:02:26.

to protect Scotland's relationship with the EU, the Prime Minister's

:02:27.:02:29.

interest is sparked. I want to get with the EU, the Prime Minister's

:02:30.:02:33.

the best possible deal for the United Kingdom out of our

:02:34.:02:37.

negotiations for a United Kingdom leaving the EU. But I am willing to

:02:38.:02:41.

listen to options. I have been clear with the First Minister today that I

:02:42.:02:44.

want the Scottish Government to be fully engaged in our discussions, in

:02:45.:02:49.

our considerations. I will listen to any options they put forward. As

:02:50.:02:53.

curious bystanders watched, the Prime Minister did note the people

:02:54.:02:58.

already have their say on an independence referendum that the

:02:59.:03:01.

First Minister has been quite clear throughout this debate. The question

:03:02.:03:05.

of independence is part and parcel of all of this debate just now, it

:03:06.:03:09.

has to be, because of the situation Scotland finds itself in, through no

:03:10.:03:14.

fault of our own. But I wanted to be clear with the Prime Minister, as I

:03:15.:03:17.

have been clear with the Scottish people that my job as First Minister

:03:18.:03:21.

is to examine all options and that is the approach I continue to take.

:03:22.:03:26.

A short meeting but a significant one, Theresa May had been determined

:03:27.:03:29.

to visit Scotland as soon as possible. She may be willing to

:03:30.:03:33.

listen but is she wanting to tie in other parties to the Brexit

:03:34.:03:39.

negotiations? So they can't complain and trip her up? Do you think it is

:03:40.:03:43.

a trap for the SNP did bind them into these negotiations? No, this is

:03:44.:03:48.

making sure that all of the Liberal administrations in the United

:03:49.:03:51.

Kingdom's voices are heard. As it should be. As I have been calling

:03:52.:04:01.

for, for the last few weeks. It is important the new Prime Minister

:04:02.:04:04.

came here to make that offer, to say that we want you on board, we want

:04:05.:04:07.

your input. It is quite telling that that was the first visit she made

:04:08.:04:09.

outside of Downing Street, the first two days of taking office. By

:04:10.:04:11.

ministers depend on clever medical tactics to survive -- Prime

:04:12.:04:15.

ministers. They depend on their high security bubbles in the most

:04:16.:04:19.

rarefied of jobs. This leader saw her predecessor's Korea toppled by a

:04:20.:04:22.

referendum, she will try not to make the same mistake. --

:04:23.:04:26.

That's right. Theresa May, in some way, is slightly haunted by David

:04:27.:04:39.

Cameron's failed legacy. His last legacy, essentially. It may be all

:04:40.:04:44.

smiles here in a way, but she has been quite tough with the SNP,

:04:45.:04:48.

dismissing another independence referendum that saying, I am willing

:04:49.:04:51.

to listen to other options, whatever those options may be full stop also,

:04:52.:04:59.

as I alluded to, she is maybe trying to tie them into these Brexit

:05:00.:05:02.

negotiations and supporters are saying that is so the SNP cannot

:05:03.:05:05.

complain when negotiations are taking place. Quite a tough stance

:05:06.:05:10.

from Mrs May but she is facing an equally tough opponent in Nicola

:05:11.:05:15.

Sturgeon, the First Minister who has once again laid out on the table

:05:16.:05:19.

another independence referendum. It is going to be quite a fight, I

:05:20.:05:24.

think. Thanks. Andrew in Edinburgh. Theresa May is now back in Downing

:05:25.:05:26.

Street. And so is our correspondent,

:05:27.:05:28.

Nick Eardley. We weren't expecting any of this at

:05:29.:05:35.

the beginning of the week, where we? Indeed, in the last couple of hours

:05:36.:05:39.

Theresa May has arrived back at number ten behind me in quite a

:05:40.:05:43.

remarkable week at Westminster. Quite extraordinary to think that on

:05:44.:05:46.

Monday, David Cameron was fairly relaxed in the building behind me,

:05:47.:05:50.

thinking he had a couple of months left in the job. It has been a fast

:05:51.:05:55.

moving situation since then. Scotland has been high on the

:05:56.:05:59.

agenda. A couple of things to reflect on at the end of this week.

:06:00.:06:04.

Firstly, the first speech this Theresa May gave, as Prime Minister.

:06:05.:06:07.

Around one metre from where I am just now. She mentioned the union

:06:08.:06:14.

between Scotland, England and Wales just now. She mentioned the union

:06:15.:06:17.

and Northern Ireland, the union. Saying how precious it was to her

:06:18.:06:24.

and her party. And the symbolism of her first trip being north of the

:06:25.:06:26.

border to meet Nicola Sturgeon. Today. It is not clear whether the

:06:27.:06:31.

two women will be able to find a deal that satisfies both the

:06:32.:06:34.

Scottish Government's aims and the keen back citys who are in Mrs May

:06:35.:06:44.

new cabinet. -- Brexiteers. After the new talks there is a desire to

:06:45.:06:49.

listen and find a solution. How is next week looking? There are

:06:50.:06:54.

developments, there. The main issue on Monday, Sally will be Trident. It

:06:55.:07:01.

is a sign that despite all those good will, all that good will,

:07:02.:07:06.

rather, in the talks today, there are still tensions and significant

:07:07.:07:10.

disagreements to come. On Monday, the UK Government will put in a

:07:11.:07:14.

motion before the House of Commons commits the UK to renewing the

:07:15.:07:23.

Trident missile system. They think it is the best way to maintain a

:07:24.:07:26.

nuclear deterrent and the programme has support among the public.

:07:27.:07:34.

Including, they say, in Scotland. But the vast majority of MPs will

:07:35.:07:38.

vote against it in Scotland. 54 SNP 's, two MPs and one Labour MPs

:07:39.:07:44.

opposed to nuclear renewal. I understand tonight, a Liberal

:07:45.:07:48.

Democrat MP, Alistair Carmichael is also set to vote against that motion

:07:49.:07:53.

on Monday. We will have a situation on Monday where there is a good

:07:54.:07:56.

chance that that motion will pass, but all bar one of Scotland's MPs

:07:57.:08:04.

will have voted against it. A sign that Theresa May and Nicola Sturgeon

:08:05.:08:06.

want a constructive relationship, they want to work together, but

:08:07.:08:09.

there will be other issues and challenges in the weeks and months

:08:10.:08:12.

to come. Watch this space. Thank you.

:08:13.:08:15.

Around Scotland, people have been paying their respects to those

:08:16.:08:17.

who were killed and injured in the attack in Nice last night.

:08:18.:08:19.

Flags have been flying at half mast on many public buildings.

:08:20.:08:22.

In Glasgow, a show of solidarity between the Scots and the French. As

:08:39.:08:44.

Lord Provost. My heart goes out to those in France and those affected

:08:45.:08:48.

by the horrific terrorist attack in Nice. We need to stand shoulder to

:08:49.:08:52.

shoulder with France, a country that has suffered far more in recent

:08:53.:08:56.

times than any country should have two. Outside the city Chambers in

:08:57.:09:00.

Edinburgh, all the flags were at half-mast. Scotland's capital is

:09:01.:09:04.

twinned with Nice, much sympathy for the horror that happened in France,

:09:05.:09:08.

last night. At the city's French Institute, a book of condolence has

:09:09.:09:11.

been started as people struggle to come to terms with another act of

:09:12.:09:13.

terrorism on soil. We have seen in the last year with

:09:14.:09:22.

the attacks in January and November, that our society is resilient. Its

:09:23.:09:29.

resilience is building up. I think we are very deeply fact did,

:09:30.:09:33.

collectively. But at the same time, we are proud that we are able to

:09:34.:09:37.

uphold our values. Our national unity. In Troon, some of the golfers

:09:38.:09:44.

at the Open chose to pay their respects to those caught up in the

:09:45.:09:47.

attack by wearing a black ribbon. That one amongst them was feeling it

:09:48.:09:52.

more than most. Nice is home to, Solvay. I live in Nice. -- Clement

:09:53.:10:02.

Sordet. It happened 500 metres where I live. It is a really sad

:10:03.:10:07.

situation. I gave my thoughts to a lot of families and the people who

died. At the homeless World Cup in Glasgow city centre, a minute's

sent to the Wallasey MP's account. How representative is

:11:26.:11:31.

the Scottish Parliament Well, the answer to that

:11:32.:11:32.

question is "not very", according to campaigners who want

:11:33.:11:37.

more disabled people At the Scottish election in May,

:11:38.:11:39.

the number of MSPs with Ian Hamilton has been

:11:40.:11:42.

looking into the issue. Before the Scottish election,

:11:43.:11:56.

disabled campaigners and the political parties came together for

:11:57.:12:01.

a rally at the Scottish Parliament. At the time, the parties have signed

:12:02.:12:06.

up for the run in five campaign. The aim was to improve representation

:12:07.:12:10.

for disabled people in politics. But at the election, the number of MSPs

:12:11.:12:16.

with a disability went from three down to one. Dennis Robertson didn't

:12:17.:12:22.

want his Aberdeenshire seat, Schwimmer, Hannon was unsuccessful

:12:23.:12:23.

as a candidate. Karen Buchanan decided not to

:12:24.:12:31.

is the only MSP with a disability. is the only MSP with a disability.

:12:32.:12:38.

-- as the only. It is a bit disappointing. Clearly, one in five

:12:39.:12:44.

people are disabled. We have a high representation from all parties

:12:45.:12:48.

because it is a significant minority within Scotland. If the Scottish

:12:49.:12:53.

parliament properly represented people with disabilities, there

:12:54.:12:58.

would be 23 MSPs, not just one. There is recognition that there has

:12:59.:13:01.

to be better representation in politics. To support disabled

:13:02.:13:05.

people, the Scottish Government earlier in the year, set up a fund.

:13:06.:13:09.

The idea of the fund is to level the playing field for disabled

:13:10.:13:13.

candidates. If they face additional costs because of transport or any

:13:14.:13:18.

other access barrier, we look at providing funding to address that

:13:19.:13:22.

need or maybe pay for a personal assistant or communication support

:13:23.:13:25.

worker. What ever it is they need to have a fair chance at being elected.

:13:26.:13:29.

Disabled people must stand for elected office. Ryan is putting

:13:30.:13:34.

himself forward for selection for next year's council elections. Brian

:13:35.:13:36.

communicates through his computer. By deciding on policy more than

:13:37.:13:48.

often they do not understand. Disabled people naturally tend to

:13:49.:13:51.

have a greater sense of empathy, which is vital for elected office.

:13:52.:13:58.

Without -- with that empathy we build solving problems.

:13:59.:14:01.

The next target for the one fifth campaign to improve representation

:14:02.:14:09.

in politics will be next year's council elections -- one in five

:14:10.:14:13.

campaign. Let's be honest, that would be hard to be better than the

:14:14.:14:15.

Scottish one. Police have confirmed

:14:16.:14:17.

that the body of a man pulled from the River Nith in Dumfries

:14:18.:14:19.

is that of a missing fisherman. 57-year-old Charles Mellor,

:14:20.:14:22.

who was from the town, Let's get the sport. What a

:14:23.:14:38.

difference a Day makes when it comes to the Scottish weather. Yes,

:14:39.:14:43.

remember the sunshine yesterday at Royal Troon? Today it has been quite

:14:44.:14:46.

different. How have the players dealt with the Scottish summer?

:14:47.:14:52.

Jonathan Sutherland can tell us the story of the day.

:14:53.:14:58.

Yes, yesterday we were sun-drenched. Today we have just been drenched. A

:14:59.:15:04.

shame for the crowds who flocked to Royal Troon today to watch the 145th

:15:05.:15:09.

open championship. They came prepared. They are needed to because

:15:10.:15:15.

it has been pretty much incessant rain. It has had an impact on play.

:15:16.:15:22.

Very different from the conditions yesterday. Benign conditions. Phil

:15:23.:15:28.

Mickelson ended with a crescendo at the end of the day. He shot a 63.

:15:29.:15:34.

Almost close to getting the Holy Grail of 62. Not quite meant to be.

:15:35.:15:39.

He was in good form again today. It has been a turbulent day, especially

:15:40.:15:43.

for the Scots. This has been the story of the day.

:15:44.:15:47.

Summer in Scotland can be challenging for golfers, spectators

:15:48.:15:53.

and even overhead camera crews. After boarding of the Royal Troon

:15:54.:15:56.

course yesterday with his record-breaking round of 63, Phil

:15:57.:16:00.

Mickelson was not going to let a little rain washed away his Open

:16:01.:16:07.

charge. He started early. The worst of the weather was still to arrive.

:16:08.:16:11.

His glorious form from yesterday still to the fore. He finished the

:16:12.:16:15.

day still in the lead at ten under par. I don't feel the pressure like

:16:16.:16:29.

probably a lot of players do to try to win the Claret jug because I have

:16:30.:16:33.

already won it. That takes a lot of pressure off me. A group of top

:16:34.:16:37.

class players are still in pursuit. There is a long way to go in this

:16:38.:16:47.

Open. Could Scotland's number one golfer push up the leaderboard?

:16:48.:16:53.

Russell Knox finished the first day one over. Really tough, especially

:16:54.:17:01.

as we made the turn. The rain was pounding. It was decently windy. He

:17:02.:17:08.

should make the cut comfortably. Not so, Colin Montgomery. Walking down

:17:09.:17:13.

the home straight on Sunday was the dream. What a disgruntled Monty

:17:14.:17:19.

finished four over. Very difficult to score coming in. You won't find

:17:20.:17:25.

anybody on the leaderboard from now on. It is a shame.

:17:26.:17:32.

For over four Monty but it is maybe not over for him because the

:17:33.:17:38.

projected cut has gone from 2/23 over. Do not rule it out going to

:17:39.:17:45.

for over. The conditions have meant the scoring has not been good. In

:17:46.:17:49.

terms of this open championship we could still see Colin Montgomery go

:17:50.:17:54.

through the weekend because of could go to four over. Rory McIlroy is

:17:55.:17:59.

down to one under par. Jordan Spieth is in danger of missing the cut. He

:18:00.:18:04.

is currently four over par. We could still see Colin Montgomery in this

:18:05.:18:09.

Open championship. The good news about tomorrow is that it is meant

:18:10.:18:14.

to be dry if windy. Challenging conditions. As for Sunday, unafraid

:18:15.:18:19.

to say it looks like could be more of this, which means it could be

:18:20.:18:21.

challenging for whoever is on the of this, which means it could be

:18:22.:18:27.

final tee. Phil Mickelson currently one shot ahead of Henrik Stenson of

:18:28.:18:32.

Sweden. He is in control but there is such a long way to go. Thank you.

:18:33.:18:35.

Keep your ski jacket handy. Champions League and Europa League

:18:36.:18:37.

draws were made earlier. If Celtic progress against

:18:38.:18:39.

Lincoln Red Imps, they'll play Astana of Khazahkstan

:18:40.:18:42.

or Vilnius of Lithuania. Aberdeen have drawn Maribor

:18:43.:18:45.

of Slovenia, and if Hearts progress Hibs boss Neil Lennon

:18:46.:18:50.

will serve a touchline ban during next week's second

:18:51.:18:57.

leg against Brondby. Lennon was sent to the stand last

:18:58.:19:01.

night, as the Danes secured The winners will progress,

:19:02.:19:03.

to take on Hertha Berlin. Swimmer Robbie Renwick

:19:04.:19:08.

is a world champion - he's also won medals

:19:09.:19:10.

at European Championships, But he says he'd give them all up,

:19:11.:19:12.

just to get on the podium in Rio. Renwick is one of four swimmers

:19:13.:19:19.

training at Stirling University who'll be competing

:19:20.:19:21.

for Team GB next month. Jane Lewis has more on the Stirling

:19:22.:19:24.

quartet, on the road to Rio. Four University of Stirling swimmers

:19:25.:19:42.

with Rio ambitions. For one, Rio will be his third Olympics and

:19:43.:19:49.

likely to be his last. Already a world champion, but he is desperate

:19:50.:19:55.

for Olympic glory. I would trade all my medals I own for an Olympic

:19:56.:20:00.

medal. It is really special to be an Olympic medallist. It is something

:20:01.:20:05.

I've been working very hard towards and I'm very determined to deliver

:20:06.:20:10.

that. Another member of that squad is at a different stage in his

:20:11.:20:14.

swimming career. Just turned 19 and fending for himself. The first

:20:15.:20:20.

couple of months were interesting. A couple of late nights, not doing

:20:21.:20:26.

laundry. You get used to it. Library visits are also something these two

:20:27.:20:33.

have to get used to. Rio not the only focus when studying for a

:20:34.:20:36.

degree. If you have not had a good time in the pool, you come home and

:20:37.:20:42.

think about it. If you have got work to do, it takes your mind off it. It

:20:43.:20:49.

can almost release some stress. This swimmer will return to his studies

:20:50.:20:55.

after the Olympics. From time to concentrate on his swimming has

:20:56.:21:01.

certainly paid off. I have won a medal in the 100 breaststroke at the

:21:02.:21:05.

Commonwealth games, the world Championships and the European

:21:06.:21:08.

Championships. The only place I have not got a medal is at the Olympics.

It is game on. The Stirling quartet our Rio ready. Good luck. That is

:21:16.:21:17.

it. Time for the weather. And of course, Christopher has been

:21:18.:21:24.

on the road all week long - he's almost at the end of his 500

:21:25.:21:27.

mile journey, and has Chris, where exactly

:21:28.:21:30.

are you tonight? Good evening. I am on the beach at

:21:31.:21:39.

-- with the Moray Firth behind me. If you look over my other shoulder,

:21:40.:21:44.

you may be able to see that white building, the lighthouse of January

:21:45.:21:48.

point, a great spot for spotting dolphins. There is a group of people

:21:49.:21:52.

on the coastline probably seeing them now. We have been journeying

:21:53.:21:58.

around the north coast 500, a touring route around the far north

:21:59.:22:02.

of the country. Some spectacular scenery. Today we have been taking

:22:03.:22:09.

things a little easier. This is Sally and Cathy. We met at the start

:22:10.:22:14.

of our journey a week ago. We have been cycling for the last ten days.

:22:15.:22:21.

Following bits of the MC 500. But also exploring quiet roads, meeting

:22:22.:22:28.

people, eating lots of scones! Today I am slowing the pace, too. The

:22:29.:22:38.

ferry is a lifeline for locals and a quirky addition for visitors. It is

:22:39.:22:43.

gentle, it is rolling, there is rich agriculture. It is off the beaten

:22:44.:22:49.

track. But with the charms we have got here, I would encourage people

:22:50.:22:55.

to explore. It is Elizabeth's job to encourage us onto the bike. Like the

:22:56.:23:00.

rest of the North Coast 500, slow down. It is varied around this loop

:23:01.:23:08.

we have got. There is a lot to see. I would say to folk, take your time.

:23:09.:23:12.

It is not a race. Cycling is inherently fun. There is also to

:23:13.:23:19.

fabulous places to explore. Then you are out in the wild. It is a low

:23:20.:23:25.

impact way to explore. We end the week as we started, wet. The

:23:26.:23:31.

Scottish summer. Need I say more? It is tipping it down. Thankfully, we

:23:32.:23:39.

have made some pit stops on the way. Any excuse for a cup of tea and a

:23:40.:23:43.

piece of cake. The rain mac was heavier earlier. We

:23:44.:23:49.

have seen a good bit of rain across the country today. This evening, a

:23:50.:23:52.

lot of rain easing away. Reasonably dry. The condition is not too bad.

:23:53.:23:58.

Looking at each, we can see overnight outbreaks of rain. The

:23:59.:24:04.

heavy wet weather in the north drifting towards the south-east.

:24:05.:24:07.

Through the early hours it will fade away. Most areas will be dry and

:24:08.:24:13.

fairly cloudy. Temperatures in double digits. Cooler in the

:24:14.:24:18.

countryside. Still breezy, particularly around the coast.

:24:19.:24:23.

Tomorrow and the weekend. Saturday is fairly dry but cloudy for a

:24:24.:24:26.

central, southern and eastern part of the country, towards the west and

:24:27.:24:31.

north-west, a number of showers. They could be heavy. Perhaps even

:24:32.:24:37.

the rumble of thunder. Similar for the Northern Isles. Those showers

:24:38.:24:40.

could emerge to give a longer spell of rain. Lost three conditions along

:24:41.:24:45.

the West Coast. By mid-afternoon, around four o'clock, we're looking

:24:46.:24:50.

at the mid to high teens. A fresher feel compared to today. 22 Celsius

:24:51.:24:55.

early at Kintyre. Tomorrow it will be fresher. Showers in the

:24:56.:25:03.

north-west. For a good part of Grampian and down towards the

:25:04.:25:07.

Borders, reasonably dry. Rats even some bright spells in the mix. If

:25:08.:25:12.

you are thinking about hill walking or climbing, the Western Rangers,

:25:13.:25:17.

particularly the north-west, expect hefty showers. Those winds speeds,

:25:18.:25:25.

60 mph through the north-west Highlands. Elsewhere, up to 40 or

:25:26.:25:32.

45. Temperatures at some level. Across the eastern ranges, cloudy.

:25:33.:25:38.

Winds of 30 to 40 mph. The rest of Across the eastern ranges, cloudy.

the afternoon into the evening, holding onto those showers. One to

:25:44.:25:49.

moving into the central lowlands as we head towards Saturday evening and

:25:50.:25:52.

Saturday night. Sunday, the pressure chart shows us that low pressure

:25:53.:25:57.

drifting over towards Scandinavia. A westerly breeze with some showers

:25:58.:26:01.

and some patchy rain. Here's the detail for Sunday. And east, west

:26:02.:26:06.

split. The further east you are, it will be dry and bright. In the West,

:26:07.:26:10.

wet weather. Not as heavy yesterday. And for the start of next week, a

:26:11.:26:17.

North, East, South, West split. Driest in the North East. Wettest in

:26:18.:26:22.

the north-west. That brings us to the end of the weather forecast. And

:26:23.:26:27.

indeed the end of a road trip. We have brought you hopefully some

:26:28.:26:32.

fantastic sites and we hope you have enjoyed seeing them. It has been fun

:26:33.:26:34.

for us. Back to the studio. Now a reminder of

:26:35.:26:35.

tonight's main news. More than 80 people

:26:36.:26:39.

were killed last night, when a lorry was driven deliberately

:26:40.:26:41.

into crowds at Bastille Day Many women and children,

:26:42.:26:44.

who just seconds before had been enjoying the evening,

:26:45.:26:50.

were among the dead and injured. Tonight more than 50

people are believed to be The Prime Minister says she'll

:26:53.:26:54.

listen to all options for Scotland to have a different relationship

:26:55.:27:00.

with the EU. Theresa May used her first trip

:27:01.:27:03.

in the post to visit Edinburgh and dismissed the prospect

:27:04.:27:06.

of another independence referendum. However, the First Minister says

:27:07.:27:08.

independence is "part and parcel" of the debate surrounding the UK's

:27:09.:27:11.

exit from the European Union. I want the Scottish government to be

:27:12.:27:25.

fully engaged in our discussions, in our considerations, and I will

:27:26.:27:29.

listen to any options brought forward. The question of

:27:30.:27:32.

independence is part and parcel of this debate. It has to be because of

:27:33.:27:37.

the situation Scotland finds itself in.

:27:38.:27:37.

I'll be back with the headlines at eight, and the late bulletin just

:27:38.:27:41.

Until then, from everyone on the team - right

:27:42.:27:44.

across the country - have a very good evening.
