Scotland's finance secretary says the Treasury's pledge to replace EU

funding doesn't go far enough to end uncertainty after the Brexit

The UK Chancellor, Philip Hammond, has pledged that EU

funding for farmers, scientists and other projects

will be replaced by the Treasury after Brexit.

But the Scottish Government says that falls short of

I welcome the Chancellor's statement in that aid as yours some funds but

does not go far enough. We want every penny that Scotland was

entitled to to come to Scotland and that is right for the communities of

Scotland, our farmers and fishermen, who should get what was coming

Scotland's Way, a substantial amount of funds.

What the Chancellor has done is given confidence and security to

universities, businesses and farmers so that they know going for it that

they would get the money they would have got from the EU. That is the

pragmatic and sensible thing to do rather than just talking from the

sidelines and trying to stir up grounds for a further rerun of the

independence referendum we had two or three years ago.
