Hello, and welcome to our first instalment of very late night drama

:00:00.:00:40.

from the 2016 BDO darts World Championship. We start with a match

:00:41.:00:43.

involving an American returning here to the

:00:44.:00:44.

involving an American returning here to the big stage for the first time

:00:45.:00:50.

in 24 years - Larry Butler found himself up against a very proud

:00:51.:00:53.

Gloucesterman making his debut, James Hurrell. Your commentary on

:00:54.:00:57.

this one comes from John Rawling and Vassos Alexander.

:00:58.:01:09.

Andy Fordham watching on, The Viking, former champion. Great

:01:10.:01:12.

bloke. Done his fair share of autograph

:01:13.:01:21.

signing today, and eabd wanting to get their photograph -- everybody

:01:22.:01:23.

wanting to get their photograph with him. An affable a fella as you could

:01:24.:01:27.

wish to meet. I wonder if he can hear me! Managing to smile happily

:01:28.:01:30.

with a camera right in his face. Butler doubling his set tally at the

:01:31.:01:51.

World Championships - almost a generation, 24 years, after he won

:01:52.:01:52.

his first set. First to three sets, let me remind

:01:53.:02:05.

you. Takes you through into the first round, where Ryan 'Lou' Reed

:02:06.:02:10.

awaits the winner. Better from Hurrell. A few American

:02:11.:02:46.

fans over here. Or at least a flag! Maybe, yeah. Unusual flag to have,

:02:47.:02:50.

though, if you're not sort of cheering them on.

:02:51.:02:50.

LAUGHS Very nice indeed! Well, that was

:02:51.:03:34.

pretty clinical, wasn't it? A 101 checkout. Butler taking the early

:03:35.:03:42.

advantage in a leg which looked as if he was struggling in. But Hurrell

:03:43.:03:43.

couldn't capitalise. Good response by Hurrell. The pair

:03:44.:04:15.

of them averaging very similarly - around about 82, their match

:04:16.:04:21.

averages. Checkout percentages for both below 30%.

:04:22.:04:26.

Went for the bull's-eye - that didn't go well. He's left himself on

:04:27.:05:24.

no finish - 173. So Butler concedes control here.

:05:25.:05:57.

101 and now an 80! Might not be scoring heavily, but he's checking

:05:58.:06:05.

out well now. Keep knocking those out, it's going to be difficult to

:06:06.:06:07.

beat. At one stage, he'd only hit one out

:06:08.:06:18.

of 11 doubles. He's now hit three in a row, Larry Butler. The 58-year-old

:06:19.:06:29.

from Dayton, Ohio... Moves to within a leg of a two-set lead. There will

:06:30.:06:31.

be a short break after two sets. Hurrell did have a chance at the

:06:32.:06:53.

start of this leg. To pressure the Butler throw, only 26 scored with

:06:54.:06:56.

his first visit, but he couldn't do it. This is better.

:06:57.:07:04.

Unlucky. Maybe a new night, maybe a new stem as well. That is his first

:07:05.:07:22.

maximum from Larry Butler. That has done some damage to Hurrell's hopes.

:07:23.:07:35.

Sharon Butler cheering on her husband. Getting rightfully excited.

:07:36.:07:41.

There she is. Well, she's enjoying this. 180, 135 - just 60 left for

:07:42.:07:52.

the set. Hurrell's nowhere. It's turning out to be a very comfortable

:07:53.:07:55.

exercise, this, so far, for Larry Butler. You certainly wouldn't bet

:07:56.:07:58.

against him getting this. Good marker.

:07:59.:08:02.

Has at least left a finish, and not a bad one - 126.

:08:03.:08:51.

He's missed five for the set. But not six. Easy as you like, Larry

:08:52.:09:04.

Butler moving into a two-set lead. Gloucestershire man on the Auki. --

:09:05.:09:09.

oche, hoping to come back from two sets down. It can be done, of

:09:10.:09:14.

course. But not with darts like that. He's just looked as though

:09:15.:09:21.

he's been maybe just a wee bit intimidated by the atmosphere

:09:22.:09:24.

tonight, James Hurrell. He's not producing the game that he knows

:09:25.:09:28.

he's capable of delivering - not yet, anyway.

:09:29.:09:39.

Important he gets his nose ahead in this first leg with the darts.

:09:40.:09:53.

Good focus, good last dart for the second visit in a row from Hurrell.

:09:54.:10:10.

He has got his nose ahead in this leg.

:10:11.:10:21.

He's got every opportunity to take this one now.

:10:22.:10:27.

He needed the treble 18 there. Went to wrong bed, so no checkout

:10:28.:10:33.

opportunity with his next visit. Hasn't had a dart in the double for

:10:34.:11:27.

the second half. He'd enjoy that. Butler didn't really put him under

:11:28.:11:33.

too much pressure there. I think the break maybe just acting the wrong

:11:34.:11:37.

way for him. That's more like it. You can see that when you have the

:11:38.:11:42.

commercial breaks - for somebody who's going well, it can just

:11:43.:11:45.

interrupt the momentum. For somebody who's struggling - as Hurrell was -

:11:46.:11:48.

it gives you a chance to regroup with darts like that. That's his

:11:49.:11:52.

first maximum of the match, and he's throwing his best darts of the match

:11:53.:12:00.

here. He does look refocused. He did look really nervy at times in that

:12:01.:12:03.

second set. The first set was better. Good response from Butler.

:12:04.:12:12.

Two ton-40s and a maximum at the start of this leg. That's more like

:12:13.:12:14.

it, really. It's the World Championship!

:12:15.:12:18.

He didn't like that last one, did he?

:12:19.:12:25.

You sometimes see that in these preliminary round matches - 140,

:12:26.:12:52.

180, 140, then 45, 22. That leaves it more enticing - a makeable

:12:53.:12:54.

checkout, on 136. 136, then, for Hurrell, for 2-0.

:12:55.:13:06.

Great first dart. Almost threw that last dart away in

:13:07.:13:35.

frustration. Tops for Hurrell for 2-0. Tens... That's good! He's

:13:36.:13:44.

getting charged up now! Having said that he wasn't doing himself

:13:45.:13:47.

justice, he's come back from the break looking like a different guy!

:13:48.:13:55.

The Hillbilly is getting into the groove! Funny what five minutes of

:13:56.:14:00.

"me" time backstage can do. Talking to himself, trying to keep

:14:01.:14:15.

himself focused and charged up. Different people do it different

:14:16.:14:18.

ways. Some people try to get rid of that nervous energy. Others try to

:14:19.:14:22.

harness it. It looks as though that's what Hurrell's trying to get

:14:23.:14:27.

into. Big, big mountain back, though. But he's got a chance of

:14:28.:14:32.

taking this third set here. Butler's lost his scoring

:14:33.:14:51.

completely. 41 and 41. He's lost the plot a bit, in this set - shaking

:14:52.:14:56.

his head there at the back, just practising his delivery, practising

:14:57.:14:57.

his throw. That's poor from Hurrell. Butler's just taken his eye off the

:14:58.:15:07.

ball a little, you suspect. Butler's been serving up some rubbish.

:15:08.:15:17.

May be And nobody is more aware of that than the man himself.

:15:18.:15:27.

Hurrell, though, is staggering as he comes towards the winning line.

:15:28.:15:33.

Surely not going to let him back into this set. First to three,

:15:34.:15:34.

remember, wins the match. Just to continue that Butler analogy

:15:35.:15:46.

- he's opened the door. Hurrell hasn't come through.

:15:47.:15:53.

And now, Larry Butler... His second maximum. ..Showing why he is the man

:15:54.:16:02.

from the USA, why he was top of those rankings. Why he qualified for

:16:03.:16:06.

Lakeside. This can be done. Hurrell should have put him away

:16:07.:16:39.

here, but hasn't done so. We have seen Larry Butler faltering

:16:40.:17:00.

on his doubles under pressure. Tops from Butler - good dart. 7 out

:17:01.:17:15.

of 23 on the checkouts. Larry Butler narrows the gap in what could, if he

:17:16.:17:20.

wins it, be the final set. Well, he broke the throw as he needed to, to

:17:21.:17:25.

extend the set. He has the darts in this leg. Been in really good form

:17:26.:17:30.

in the last year or so, Larry Butler. Qualifying for this a head

:17:31.:17:39.

of Jim Widmayer, who was the American representative at the top

:17:40.:17:42.

of their ranking list for the previous two years.

:17:43.:17:46.

Reached the final of the World Masters, Butler. He did. Grave an

:17:47.:17:51.

impressive list earlier on of the people who he swept past. Including

:17:52.:17:57.

the current champion, Scott Mitchell, and Wolfie, Martin Adams.

:17:58.:18:25.

He's won 14 ranking titles, Larry Butler.

:18:26.:18:33.

Very, very warm in this auditorium now. You can see the perspiration

:18:34.:19:01.

glistening on Larry Butler. Some of the players have really struggled

:19:02.:19:05.

with that today. It has been very warm.

:19:06.:19:20.

On a nice finish - Shanghai. Triple, single, double top.

:19:21.:19:35.

This is to square it off and put him within a leg of winning the match,

:19:36.:19:42.

with 120. Oh, dear. He looks angry at that aberration.

:19:43.:20:10.

Not far away from the bull. Not far away...

:20:11.:20:24.

He seemed to hurry that a bit. This is for the set.

:20:25.:20:37.

CHEERING His sizeable contingent of

:20:38.:20:44.

supporters roar their approval. That's a set back. 2-1 now - first

:20:45.:20:51.

to three will win this preliminary round match. Butler, though, with

:20:52.:20:53.

the darts and making a good start. Butler with the darts, in vigorated

:20:54.:21:16.

by the turnaround, looking to make a statement in this opening leg. No

:21:17.:21:21.

slip-ups. Could do with a treble 20 but can't find it.

:21:22.:21:34.

Butler still with the advantage of the throw.

:21:35.:22:25.

Well, the door is ajar for Hurrell. Three loose visits from Larry

:22:26.:22:26.

Butler. Again, Hurrell doesn't take

:22:27.:22:39.

advantage. He wanted to leap all over that, didn't he?

:22:40.:22:47.

Not great match, this, it has to be said. The args of both men are

:22:48.:22:55.

sub-80. Going anywhere in this tournament, you really want to be

:22:56.:22:59.

hitting the 90s-plus. Despite the fact that the W, of course - the win

:23:00.:23:05.

- is all that really matters, but you're not going to beat the big

:23:06.:23:08.

guns unless you can score more heavily than this.

:23:09.:23:20.

148 would be the highest of the tournament so far. Not far away.

:23:21.:23:24.

Hurrell now with a chance. 145. Things are getting critical for The

:23:25.:24:03.

Hillbilly, James Hurrell. Can't afford to lose a leg now. Did so,

:24:04.:24:10.

Butler would just have the darts to finish this off by a 3-1 margin.

:24:11.:24:14.

You'd have two chances at it, as well. 55 is not what Hurrell wanted.

:24:15.:24:27.

Sunglasses on, but the darts are far from dazzling just at the moment.

:24:28.:24:46.

The sort of match that needs a maximum or two, just to get everyone

:24:47.:24:55.

going. 140 is not a bad second-best. That's a serious physique.

:24:56.:25:12.

Butler's pinched the throw. He's ahead, despite the fact that Hurrell

:25:13.:25:15.

had the darts. Just not happening for James. Butler

:25:16.:25:37.

- six from here on the 180 to go two legs ahead. ..And edge closer to a

:25:38.:25:44.

place in the first round proper. That's a tonne of them... It's been

:25:45.:25:50.

a decent leg from him. Two tonnes and a 140.

:25:51.:25:59.

Big moment, this. Really big moment. You can't imagine he'll be offered

:26:00.:26:33.

another opportunity if he misses this 109.

:26:34.:26:39.

What a big dart! Lakeside comes alive! Well, good moment, that was.

:26:40.:27:02.

He steadied himself, puffed out his chest, and blasted it home.

:27:03.:27:06.

180! CHEERING

:27:07.:27:07.

His third of the match... Shame about the treble five, wasn't

:27:08.:27:32.

it... Tell you what, though - all of a

:27:33.:27:46.

sudden, the match has come to life. Long, long way, though, for Hurrell.

:27:47.:27:52.

Not quite the darts he had hoped for, but he's on a finish, of sorts.

:27:53.:28:00.

Hurrell well back. That's another poor visit for

:28:01.:28:32.

Butler. 180, 135, then 42 and 28. Still, Hurrell back on 315. Oh,

:28:33.:28:34.

dear. 25. 116 for the leg, for 2-1. Tops for the leg... Good darts. Good

:28:35.:28:56.

finishing. 116. And moving him within a leg of the match. 15-dart

:28:57.:29:03.

leg with two visits of under 50. Hurrell's Lakeside debut - it's a

:29:04.:29:31.

learning experience. He'll be stronger for having been here, and

:29:32.:29:35.

maybe offer more next time around. Larry Butler very much in the

:29:36.:29:38.

veteran category - 58 years old. He can close this out, even if

:29:39.:29:53.

Hurrell hangs onto his throw here. Oh, yes! How often do you see that?

:29:54.:30:09.

The arm freed up by the scoreboard? Kind of when you reach the final

:30:10.:30:14.

point of no return, as though, "Well, I'm heading for defeat -

:30:15.:30:18.

unless I can do it." He and he just gives you that bit of relaxation,

:30:19.:30:22.

and suddenly he's away and produces a three like that. Not a bad first

:30:23.:30:24.

dart, either. 6 darts from 86, but... Mustn't make

:30:25.:30:51.

an error. Must make sure he wins this leg.

:30:52.:31:00.

Didn't even give himself a dart at a double there. He will be back. That

:31:01.:31:06.

wasn't great from Hurrell. Butler, though, on 177 - he can do no more

:31:07.:31:11.

than try and get a decent score. One is not a great start, but the second

:31:12.:31:15.

two were. Must take this, for Hurrell. He's only going to get two

:31:16.:31:17.

darts at a double. Could have been his last dart at

:31:18.:31:33.

Lakeside this year. Well, well played, James Hurrell.

:31:34.:31:40.

So we move into the decisive leg here, with Butler with the darts

:31:41.:31:47.

again, but Hurrell just hanging on him. Does launch them, doesn't he,

:31:48.:31:53.

Larry? You never know, though - if Hurrell can find a way of nicking

:31:54.:31:56.

this leg, all of a sudden he's come from two sets down, he won't know

:31:57.:32:00.

how he done it, but we'll be into a deciding set. Big "if", though -

:32:01.:32:06.

he's going to need to find some trebles. Some great vantage points

:32:07.:32:13.

of the darts. The balcony not too far away from where we sit in our

:32:14.:32:16.

commentary box. 261 was what he needed to move into

:32:17.:32:59.

the next round. Stumbles... He'll be relieved to see Hurrell back on 346.

:33:00.:33:03.

Now Butler - 220 is what he needs. And he has six darts at it.

:33:04.:33:32.

Did well to thread that one through. He's left himself with Shanghai -

:33:33.:33:40.

the treble-single-double on 20s - to win the match.

:33:41.:33:48.

This could be Hurrell's final visit... But only if Butler takes

:33:49.:33:54.

out Shanghai 120. Hurrell breathes again. Hurrell -

:33:55.:34:02.

95. This is to square up the match. A little unlucky. Tops now... How

:34:03.:34:24.

about that! 95! He's back and roaring! What a terrific checkout!

:34:25.:34:29.

Somehow, he has clawed his way back into this match, and Larry Butler

:34:30.:34:35.

can only stand and think what might have been. How on earth are we into

:34:36.:34:42.

a deciding set? How on earth has this happened? But it has, you know?

:34:43.:34:44.

And he's got the darts. First to three legs by two clear

:34:45.:34:57.

legs. If it gets to 2-2, we go to sudden death. If it gets to 5-5,

:34:58.:35:04.

we're into a sudden-death leg. It's happened already today.

:35:05.:35:11.

Brilliant start from Butler. That's his fourth maximum of the match.

:35:12.:35:31.

We get a great view from up here in the commentary box. That's us.

:35:32.:35:50.

That's me! LAUGHS

:35:51.:35:52.

Hello, John's mum! Yeah, we are very lucky to be up

:35:53.:36:04.

here and watching the darting action.

:36:05.:36:12.

Me and Vassos trying to keep an eye on every little nuance of the match.

:36:13.:36:17.

No checkout for Butler. First blood to Larry Butler of the

:36:18.:36:55.

United States. You knew he meant business from the moment he started

:36:56.:36:58.

this deciding set with a maximum. And it's almost another, but a wild

:36:59.:37:05.

third dart. Still, a handy start. I'm not sure even James Hurrell

:37:06.:37:28.

knows how he's still alive in this match. From two sets down... He took

:37:29.:37:34.

his time to settle, didn't he? He did look as though he was a little

:37:35.:37:39.

bit fazed by it early on. He's kind of just grown in confidence as he's

:37:40.:37:42.

gone on. It was after that first little break when they left the

:37:43.:37:45.

stage when he was two sets down and he came back looking like a

:37:46.:37:51.

different guy. Having won the third set, he was a leg down in the

:37:52.:37:59.

second, Butler missed the shot at double top to go two legs up, and

:38:00.:38:03.

Hurrell needed a bull's-eye to check out 109 and hit it.

:38:04.:38:14.

Could've done with a treble there. Butler, despite stuttering somewhat,

:38:15.:38:20.

still has his nose ahead with the break, crucially.

:38:21.:38:28.

That's better! CHEERING

:38:29.:38:30.

Maximum number five. You have to say, well played, Larry

:38:31.:38:43.

Butler. In both legs so far in this deciding set, he has found the

:38:44.:38:45.

perfect three darts. He'd have been after a double 16, if

:38:46.:38:54.

he could have put that one away. Meanwhile, Hurrell can step up and

:38:55.:38:55.

put some pressure on. For the leg, and to move within one

:38:56.:39:13.

of the match... He's produced a bit of a Houdini act

:39:14.:39:29.

to get to this stage, has James Hurrell, but two legs down now - my

:39:30.:39:34.

goodness, he's got to really fly from here. Almost at the point where

:39:35.:39:35.

he can make no errors. He has the darts in this leg. First

:39:36.:39:45.

things first for Hurrell - just hold your throw.

:39:46.:40:17.

180 would make it look a bit healthier, Larry... He's had five of

:40:18.:41:06.

them. Decides to go down the 18 route.

:41:07.:41:27.

That's good. He's on 40. Butler can do no more than, well, try and get a

:41:28.:41:35.

big score, and then just hope - hope against hope. But he will still have

:41:36.:41:37.

the throw to close out the match. Hurrell to stay alive - yes, he's

:41:38.:41:50.

done it again. He will not go away, James Hurrell. Forcing Larry Butler

:41:51.:41:58.

from the USA, from Dayton, Ohio - The Eagle - to throw it out.

:41:59.:42:04.

Hurrell's finishing has been pretty handy. 47% - that's good.

:42:05.:42:11.

When he's had the opportunities, he's taken them. Hasn't been scoring

:42:12.:42:16.

heavily, but he's still hanging on in there. And if Butler can't close

:42:17.:42:23.

him out here, he'd have every chance.

:42:24.:42:37.

Opportunity for Hurrell. Must break the throw, remember. That's unlucky.

:42:38.:42:43.

Butler with his nose ahead, moving closer.

:42:44.:43:00.

Mounting tension in the air... It got to him a bit with that last

:43:01.:43:21.

dart. Still nip and tuck... The advantage is simply with the darts.

:43:22.:43:28.

Butler's not on a finish, but Hurrell is away, and Butler has six

:43:29.:43:52.

from here. I think that's a single one he's got

:43:53.:44:02.

there. 61, 94. What sort of pressure can Hurrell

:44:03.:44:18.

apply? Match point to Butler again. He's back on 217.

:44:19.:44:22.

Two darts, then, can do it for Larry Butler. Hurrell's not on a finish.

:44:23.:44:40.

He's got six, if he needs them. He'd like to just finish this match off.

:44:41.:44:43.

Not this time, though. He'll stare at the top bit of the

:44:44.:44:56.

board, for his first victory on the Lakeside stage, Larry Butler - 24

:44:57.:45:02.

years after his debut, when he lost to the defending champion, Dennis

:45:03.:45:06.

Priestly, in Round 1 - double top for Larry Butler, 58 years old of

:45:07.:45:12.

the USA - to win his first match at Lakeside! He was two sets up. The

:45:13.:45:20.

finishing line was in sight. And the The Butler eventually did it.

:45:21.:45:26.

Dutchman Matthew Medhurst was one of ten players making their debut in

:45:27.:45:31.

the men's draw for this year's Lakeside Country Club -- Lakeside

:45:32.:45:34.

World Championship, and he was up against a giant killer, Jeff Smith,

:45:35.:45:40.

the Canadian from 12 months ago, who raced through to the semifinals,

:45:41.:45:43.

upsetting Robbie Green in the quarters. Would he carry on where he

:45:44.:45:47.

left off in 2015? Let's find out. Your commentary comes from John

:45:48.:45:52.

Rawling and Tony Green. First to three. You know the format

:45:53.:45:58.

by now. What a great start! He's come out flying, Tony!

:45:59.:46:05.

Let's just settle down and see how it goes these first few darts, few

:46:06.:46:15.

legs. Let's sit back and relax and enjoy some top-class darts.

:46:16.:46:25.

Dutch darts, you don't need me to emphasise, are in a pretty good

:46:26.:46:28.

place at the moment. Matthew Medhurst comes from

:46:29.:46:38.

Ossenziel in the low countries. This is his Lakeside debut on - one of

:46:39.:46:42.

ten debutants here for this championship.

:46:43.:46:52.

Runner-up in 2015. Got some class. He got to the final, losing out to

:46:53.:47:00.

another Dutchman, Danny Blum. We've already seen that Jeff Smith

:47:01.:47:11.

seemingly thrives on this big stage. He's got to be able to replicate

:47:12.:47:18.

this year what he did last year... John Part keeps a very close check

:47:19.:47:20.

on his progress - something of a mentor to him. Yeah, a great friend

:47:21.:47:24.

of mine, great commentator. Had some great times together, John

:47:25.:47:33.

and I. Veryerdite individual. Confident piece of finishing.

:47:34.:48:32.

Settles the player down when you get you can get those early doubles

:48:33.:48:33.

without struggling. Well, it's the double Dutch, if

:48:34.:49:06.

nothing else. Certainly been a party atmosphere here today, hasn't it?

:49:07.:49:11.

There were a fair number of these people in at 11:00 this morning, and

:49:12.:49:17.

still going strong. Silencer of the clogs - is Jeff Smith going to be

:49:18.:49:22.

able to prove that one right? Not many clogs being worn in the

:49:23.:49:28.

Netherlands nowadays, really... Every seat's taken. Great

:49:29.:49:29.

atmosphere. They're not clogs. Soft and

:49:30.:49:37.

comfortable. Like slippers, really. Tall lad, isn't he, Matthew? Stands

:49:38.:49:46.

over six foot. Stark contrast to Jeff Smith, who's

:49:47.:49:59.

- tell you what, those who are old enough to recall, he looks like the

:50:00.:50:05.

old tennis player Ken Rosewall. I'm too young for that. Get on with it!

:50:06.:50:50.

Comes from New Brunswick. Calls himself The Silencer - he silenced

:50:51.:50:56.

one or two reputations last year, quietly going about his job and

:50:57.:51:00.

enjoying the moment. Maybe he can replicate it this time around.

:51:01.:51:07.

There's been some great champions from Canada. John Part, for one.

:51:08.:51:20.

He's had three BDO ranking title successes this year - Las Vegas

:51:21.:51:29.

Open, where he beat Big Darren Young, the Which City Open. Which

:51:30.:51:38.

And Richard Astan has given us one or two marvellous notes about these

:51:39.:51:41.

players. Jeff Smith was the 16th player in the last 30 years to reach

:51:42.:51:46.

the semis on his debut. How does he know that?!

:51:47.:52:42.

Matthew needs to get into this match, sharp-ish, or it's going to

:52:43.:52:48.

fly away from him. It's got a break at the end of this set. He could

:52:49.:52:50.

badly do with taking it. Compact little player, Jeff. No

:52:51.:53:21.

frills, not particularly demonstrative. Very, very

:53:22.:53:25.

well-organised. He looks like a bank manager.

:53:26.:53:25.

LAUGHS He's just not really quite got into

:53:26.:53:35.

this yet, Medhurst. Needs badly to hold his throw in

:53:36.:53:47.

this opening leg of the second set. He's not too bad - he's on 194. So

:53:48.:53:52.

he should be getting to the doubles first. He's not had a double yet.

:53:53.:53:57.

He's not had a shot to win a leg. No.

:53:58.:54:31.

He must have to get this, Matthew... Two darts would do it.

:54:32.:55:14.

Matthew's not scoring heavily enough. He's not got himself into a

:55:15.:55:19.

position where he can challenge for it. Smith's average is over 90, and

:55:20.:55:24.

Matthew Medhurst - only around about 77. That tells its own story. Yeah,

:55:25.:55:32.

he's getting the speed he wants for his throw, not being challenged by

:55:33.:55:39.

Medhurst. Things'll have to change. Good cover shot, and another.

:55:40.:55:49.

Fast and furious. It's got a nice, appealing pace to it, this match -

:55:50.:55:53.

good rhythm about it. Thinks a good game as well, does

:55:54.:56:08.

Smith. Annoyed at himself for letting that

:56:09.:56:25.

one slide by... Jeff Smith is just blowing him away.

:56:26.:57:34.

I think he's got to slow it down a little bit.

:57:35.:57:38.

You can see from the throw, he's got talent.

:57:39.:57:46.

This man is just the right size for darts. Up on the big stage. Big

:57:47.:57:56.

atmosphere. It's a lot different to a great deal of what he'll have

:57:57.:58:01.

experienced. His only BDO ranking title victory - the Italian grand

:58:02.:58:06.

masters in November 2014, Matthew Medhurst. I nearly said last year -

:58:07.:58:11.

I've got to get used to the idea we're in 2016, haven't I? Almost

:58:12.:58:17.

throwing out cornetoes at that time...

:58:18.:58:42.

Good vision, that, Tony. He's got time on his side, because Smith is

:58:43.:58:47.

well back, so Medhurst - if he's going to get into this set - then

:58:48.:58:50.

he's not going to get a much better chance than this.

:58:51.:59:07.

He decided not to go for double three, and busted it. He's had 119,

:59:08.:59:12.

137, 121 in that leg. Can he build on it, or is it just a

:59:13.:59:31.

token? Might have switched to the 18s then,

:59:32.:59:38.

but fancied the 20. These two do play at a similar sort

:59:39.:00:03.

of rate... Or even the long and the small...

:00:04.:00:07.

Either way... He takes it out again. His checking

:00:08.:00:54.

out has been impressive. Of course, Martin Adams particularly

:00:55.:01:13.

interested in this one because the winner of this pre-law match will

:01:14.:01:18.

face him in the first round. It is looking very much as though it's

:01:19.:01:23.

going to be the be spectacled Canadian, Jeff Smith. Because

:01:24.:01:25.

Matthew Medhurst, for whatever reason, just hasn't delivered so

:01:26.:01:26.

far. I think Smith would have rather

:01:27.:01:31.

carried on... We said earlier breaks can affect

:01:32.:01:46.

people both ways. It might give Medhurst a chance to regroup and

:01:47.:01:50.

focus better than he has done so far. Smith was on a roll, as Tony

:01:51.:01:55.

intimates there, and he would have liked to have continued sweeping

:01:56.:01:59.

towards the finishing line. Just watch - he's slowing down now...

:02:00.:02:02.

Good dart. Much better rhythm. Smith's really taken away from him.

:02:03.:02:31.

Smith's match average at the moment - 93.7. If he keeps that going, it

:02:32.:02:35.

would be the best that we've seen on the opening day.

:02:36.:02:42.

What is that, a 14-darter? Yeah. Matthew would have had a chance, as

:02:43.:03:00.

well, at a finish, if... He has settled down a little bit, Medhurst.

:03:01.:03:10.

Lose this one, and he's lost the match. Short and sweet...

:03:11.:03:22.

All the good work of that opening 140 in danger of being undone. To be

:03:23.:03:32.

honest, he's looking like a champion. Is Smith. I think it's

:03:33.:03:40.

worth a little waiver. I'm sure Martin Adams won't see it that way!

:03:41.:03:46.

But he really did throw very well last year until, for whatever

:03:47.:03:49.

reason, he was derailed against Scott Mitchell in the semis. Scott

:03:50.:03:54.

threw very well, but Jeff, for that particular match, didn't really show

:03:55.:03:58.

up, did he? Had he thrown as well as he had done in the previous rounds,

:03:59.:04:02.

he'd have given Scott a run for his money. I think he gave up when the

:04:03.:04:08.

big men came on last year. Medhurst just has to hold onto his

:04:09.:04:24.

throw here. That's good. Solid tonne. He's got a very good action.

:04:25.:04:28.

Full, flowing action. No finish for Smith. He'll come

:04:29.:04:52.

back, Medhurst, with 56 to square up the match. A very makeable,

:04:53.:04:57.

attainable checkout, that one. A steady tonne for Smith. Right...

:04:58.:04:59.

Cometh the moment, Matthew... That's more like it! Much more

:05:00.:05:11.

composed since coming back from that break. He's just regrouped,

:05:12.:05:16.

refocused, and he's looked altogether more purposeful.

:05:17.:05:32.

Didn't need that... Good dart... Fill 'em up!

:05:33.:05:44.

Another terrific visit for Smith. Two 140s moving in...

:05:45.:05:51.

Switched down to bull, and did so to great effect, hitting the big one -

:05:52.:06:04.

50. No great damage done, though. He's

:06:05.:06:29.

left it on his favourite double - double 16. Medhurst is way, way

:06:30.:06:30.

back. Brought him within a leg of a place

:06:31.:06:41.

in the first round against Martin Adams. Look at that finishing again

:06:42.:06:45.

- maintaining that impressive checkout rate - 8 out of 13 now, a

:06:46.:06:52.

62% checkout rate. He's a very talented player. He's using his

:06:53.:06:54.

head. He knows what he's doing. He's in

:06:55.:07:06.

charge of everything. He looks in good physical nick as well, doesn't

:07:07.:07:10.

he? That's no bad thing when you're up there in such a hot environment

:07:11.:07:13.

as this one. He stays the pace. A bit like Jockey Lawson, when he

:07:14.:07:28.

used to go running. Good old Jockey. Still think about you, mate. Used to

:07:29.:07:31.

run around the stage, didn't he? What a character he was...

:07:32.:07:37.

There was nothing textbook about the way in which he approached the game,

:07:38.:07:43.

but he had a following - and rightly so.

:07:44.:07:59.

He's not frightened of using the board...

:08:00.:08:07.

Medhurst is throwing to keep this match alive now. Smith wins this

:08:08.:08:10.

leg, and it's all over. He's 2-1 up. Good last dart, Tony. It was. He

:08:11.:08:33.

needed that. Still keeping his hopes alive, but only slightly. The flame

:08:34.:08:35.

flickers. His checking out was terrific. 64%

:08:36.:09:25.

ratio, and he's carried on where he left off last year. He is playing

:09:26.:09:29.

really well, and Martin Adams has got

:09:30.:09:29.

left off last year. He is playing really well, and Martin Adams has

:09:30.:09:32.

got a game on his hands. Russia's Anastasia Dobromyslova has won the

:09:33.:09:36.

women's title here at Lakeside three times, but standing in her way of a

:09:37.:09:39.

place in yet another major quarterfinal was a Dutch woman

:09:40.:09:44.

making her debut - Anca Zijlstra. Would her nerve hold on the big

:09:45.:09:48.

occasion? For your commentary on this one, Vassos Alexander and Tony

:09:49.:09:49.

Green. If it does get to two legs all,

:09:50.:10:51.

it'll be a sudden death. Whoever wins, wins. She will be very

:10:52.:10:57.

nervous, Anca Zijlstra. But she is doing well.

:10:58.:11:18.

Unlucky, just 60. She was a semifinalist last you, Anastasia. --

:11:19.:11:31.

last year, she reached six finals, seven if you include the one she

:11:32.:11:40.

won. A runner-up on six occasions. 100. There are a lot of tournaments

:11:41.:11:49.

now for the ladies. Lots of money to be had. Anastasia, you require 141.

:11:50.:12:09.

She needs a treble 20. Anca Zijlstra, she needs 95. Three

:12:10.:12:14.

darts. 13 four double extender for the

:12:15.:12:38.

first leg. -- 13 for the double. This is an 18 dart leg. Welcome to

:12:39.:12:42.

Lakeside. We saw Lisa Ashton earlier, really

:12:43.:13:07.

making a statement in her match. Anastasia, and Anca Zijlstra, so

:13:08.:13:14.

far, matching that, dart for dart. 140.

:13:15.:13:38.

Anastasia, you require 161. The runner-up watches on. She was the

:13:39.:14:08.

runner-up last year. 140, time, time, time, from Anastasia. -- ton.

:14:09.:14:30.

And tell you what, she is really getting into it, really getting some

:14:31.:15:20.

great scores. 134! Not bad for a first time.

:15:21.:15:28.

A really good standard so far. I think the men would be loved to be

:15:29.:15:38.

getting these scores. Both players are averaging north of 90.

:15:39.:15:46.

72 left for Anca Zijlstra. One the first set. -- one each for the first

:15:47.:16:33.

set. Double 12. How about that? A 14 dart leg.

:16:34.:16:55.

She is very good on the doubles. So far, so good, at any rate. Two out

:16:56.:17:08.

of two for the debutante from Holland. She is giving Anastasia

:17:09.:17:20.

something to think about. Anca Zijlstra lost to Tina Osborne last

:17:21.:17:27.

October, but she made it to Lakeside and the standby player. At 14 in the

:17:28.:17:38.

rankings, and no one was cheering louder then this player. Her

:17:39.:17:49.

colleague made it to the final. You know it is New Year when you made it

:17:50.:17:50.

to the darts. There are two of them, looking for

:17:51.:18:27.

another. There is her partner, Dave, applauding her effort, the third of

:18:28.:18:38.

the match already. 100. Anca Zijlstra, you require 116. She is on

:18:39.:18:47.

the finish. This is unlike Anastasia, so she will be back. A

:18:48.:19:05.

second art was and the start. -- per second -- that second dart was a

:19:06.:19:06.

loose dart. Double top. You require 59,

:19:07.:19:32.

Anastasia. That was a set dart. And other chance for Anca Zijlstra. The

:19:33.:19:52.

market is good. -- -- mark. This is the first one she had missed. Four

:19:53.:20:10.

missed set dart. She had missed it. She has missed five set dart.

:20:11.:20:18.

Another attempt. Missed about by a mile. In the madhouse, Anastasia.

:20:19.:20:45.

Until those missed doubles, it was a juristic standard, but Anca Zijlstra

:20:46.:20:53.

missed six for the set, Anastasia missed five, before finally finding

:20:54.:21:09.

the 11, and we are back on three. Or -- all four legs have gone on, and

:21:10.:21:16.

you can imagine that Anca Zijlstra will take it out. But have those

:21:17.:21:19.

missed attempts got to her. Anastasia bouncing all over. The

:21:20.:21:41.

first sign of nerves from Anca Zijlstra.

:21:42.:21:49.

She is a real Match Play, Anastasia. Finds her way to win. You have to

:21:50.:21:58.

take your hat off to her. Not the form we were expecting from

:21:59.:22:08.

Anastasia. Buries the treble. -- there is the

:22:09.:22:36.

treble. They have to a piece -- two a piece.

:22:37.:22:47.

Yes, 95 left. Oh, yes! She is getting the crowd going with her.

:22:48.:23:02.

That is for sure. 35 left. Great time to produce. That single three

:23:03.:23:12.

gives herself more chances to take out the first set. Double 16, she

:23:13.:23:22.

needs, she has missed it. Treble 20, the shot. 16 it will be for Anca

:23:23.:23:36.

Zijlstra. She has missed eight dart for the set.

:23:37.:23:46.

All of a sudden, all of the missed dart do not matter at all. She is

:23:47.:23:54.

one set away from knocking out the three-time champion. The way she is

:23:55.:24:00.

throwing, it is certainly going her way. You just wonder how the nerves

:24:01.:24:09.

will go when you are looking at a double to win the match. It took her

:24:10.:24:15.

nine attempts to win the first set. The experience is not winning her

:24:16.:24:23.

over. Oh, dear! I think she is in a bit of

:24:24.:24:36.

trouble. Guaranteed to -- Darren, from

:24:37.:25:12.

England, he will face the Greek any first-round preliminary match any

:25:13.:25:17.

first-round on Sunday. He is a bit of a player, the Greek.

:25:18.:25:27.

Anastasia on 107. Anastasia, you require 107. She should go for the

:25:28.:26:07.

treble 21st. Yes, that is 47. Double top it is.

:26:08.:26:16.

She cannot finish now. You would probably still just about make

:26:17.:26:28.

Anastasia favourite to win the match, but only if she starts to hit

:26:29.:26:29.

the doubles, just like that. I am very impressed with this girl.

:26:30.:26:53.

She really can push the dart through the air. You say you would make

:26:54.:27:04.

Anastasia favourite. Not if Anca Zijlstra keeps throwing like these.

:27:05.:27:08.

-- this. Warehouse her scoring gone? -- where

:27:09.:28:25.

has. You can keep calm and play dart upon the stage? -- who can? The

:28:26.:28:39.

former semifinalist watching. On the right. Offering her support. You are

:28:40.:28:48.

very engrossed, aren't you? 116 is an out shot, so 190 before

:28:49.:29:29.

the throw. Unlucky, but a chance now. Will she go bull or treble 20?

:29:30.:29:42.

She went for the Chisom Chiaha 18 -- to 18. -- two 18s.

:29:43.:29:55.

Struggling. This leaves an opening, double 18.

:29:56.:30:11.

Pulled it. Double top for an East -- for Anastasia. Three out of 17

:30:12.:30:29.

overall on the doubles. What a double that was. Very it is.

:30:30.:30:37.

-- Berridge there it is. Remember the name, Anca Zijlstra, I

:30:38.:31:03.

cannot spell it. This is a big leg, isn't it, Tony?

:31:04.:31:28.

Is Anca Zijlstra Winslet, she has the dart, throwing for the match. --

:31:29.:31:43.

is Anca Zijlstra wins it. She has to make a move now. Making it difficult

:31:44.:31:48.

for herself a little bit. And to gain. -- again. She certainly

:31:49.:32:30.

have the help today. Steady town tons for Anastasia today. A single

:32:31.:32:40.

and a double remaining. This throw will only put a little

:32:41.:32:53.

bit of pressure, but if she gets the treble, but not to be. 41. This is

:32:54.:33:11.

her 12th at double top. There you go.

:33:12.:33:20.

That is not asked, Tony. -- us. There are not many who come to the

:33:21.:33:58.

darts grumpy, and fewer who leave grumpy! That's more like it!

:33:59.:34:11.

81. Anca Zijlstra, while we have been watching, got a 91, so the

:34:12.:34:26.

scores 60 points ahead. She started well, but she is not

:34:27.:34:48.

coping with the situation now. 66, 80, but that the performance is

:34:49.:35:11.

showing that she is struggling to hit the treble 20. Not on a Finnish.

:35:12.:35:37.

-- finish. Still a chance. This is set point. If she can take out 142,

:35:38.:35:49.

not any more. Treble ten leaves double 16. The shot is on. That is

:35:50.:36:05.

the one. Single extant. Double 16. -- single 16.

:36:06.:36:15.

Double top, she hit it last time, but missed at this time. Double ten

:36:16.:36:27.

for Anastasia, to win the set. And it levels the match. We have seen it

:36:28.:36:32.

time and time again, she does enough, she finds a way.

:36:33.:36:45.

She did have the dart at double 16 to level the second set.

:36:46.:36:56.

Still, you have to put your head in the sky and score. They are equal

:36:57.:37:07.

now, and didn't go that far they will go to sudden death. They will

:37:08.:37:11.

throw for the bull to get the advantage. Made the darts be with

:37:12.:37:35.

you. -- and -- may the darts be with you. Darts Vader. Darts Wars. That

:37:36.:37:53.

the good ones to get over the top. Very nicely done.

:37:54.:38:02.

Anca Zijlstra throwing first in this the first leg.

:38:03.:38:13.

This is a good leg. This leaves very and pole position. -- leaves her.

:38:14.:38:28.

Suddenly it is not coming quite so easily for Anca Zijlstra. Darts she

:38:29.:38:40.

wants them. -- six darts if she wants them.

:38:41.:38:47.

They are coming back for 40. 47. Two out of 13 for double top for

:38:48.:39:05.

Anastasia, but she still leave that. -- leaves it. OK, a bull would help

:39:06.:39:25.

her. Treble 19 would also help. Unlucky, -- that would leave her

:39:26.:39:29.

unlucky and disappointed. A bit of pressure.

:39:30.:40:14.

The door has been left open with a 43. But Zijlstra does not take

:40:15.:40:28.

advantage. And the thing is with Anastasia, the daughters not get

:40:29.:40:36.

left open for long. -- door does not get left open for long.

:40:37.:40:44.

Still, Anca has a lot going for her. It is her first time in a major

:40:45.:40:55.

champion. She certainly has not let the side down. Anca, last year in

:40:56.:41:09.

the finals, lost to de Graaf in the first and then lost in the England

:41:10.:41:16.

national singles. A few semifinals around the place as well, Denmark,

:41:17.:41:22.

Poland, Switzerland, Luxembourg. Well travelled, but her first time

:41:23.:41:26.

here. 65 points away. Anastasia you

:41:27.:42:04.

require 65. She could win this leg and move one leg away from the

:42:05.:42:15.

quarter-finals. Double 16. OK. The chances here. Still a chance.

:42:16.:42:46.

Dobromyslova! The three-time champion is now the three-time

:42:47.:42:55.

champion is now a leg away. See what a fight she put up here. She has

:42:56.:43:00.

done well for her first appearance, I will say that. But experience will

:43:01.:43:15.

tell. How fluid she is with that throw. Right the way through. That

:43:16.:43:31.

is a good ton as well. A good recovery. 31 years old, Anastasia.

:43:32.:43:42.

She first played on the lakeside stage in a 2007 World Championship.

:43:43.:43:48.

She lost in the semifinals. She came back the following year and won the

:43:49.:44:01.

final. Won again in 2012 and in 13 -- 2013. But has not been beyond the

:44:02.:44:05.

semifinals since. Pressure in her head now. She has

:44:06.:44:20.

never lost for the quarter-finals, Anastasia. Just for a moment tonight

:44:21.:44:26.

it looked like that record may be in jeopardy. But who would bet against

:44:27.:44:30.

her now? Finish on 170. That would be nice to

:44:31.:44:47.

finish with. I am sure she will go for it. Anastasia, you require 170.

:44:48.:45:03.

Two triple 20s and a bull's-eye, the biggest checkout berries. It is not

:45:04.:45:12.

over yet. -- biggest checkout there is.

:45:13.:45:25.

A double top. I don't know why she keeps leaving it. She is not hitting

:45:26.:45:36.

it. Two out of 15 on a double top for Anastasia. That single 18 leaves

:45:37.:45:42.

the bull's-eye to stay alive for Anca Zijlstra of the Netherlands.

:45:43.:45:43.

Oh! How about that! Unconcerned -- Anca said it is not

:45:44.:46:13.

over until the fat lady sings. That was unfortunate. Caught the flank

:46:14.:46:14.

there. And other one. Oh! Again, and other

:46:15.:46:37.

three in there. That is why she has won free world titles. Simply does

:46:38.:46:49.

not let it bother her. -- three. She watched her opponent checkout with a

:46:50.:46:51.

bull's-eye... But she has come back. Anastasia, you require 161. She does

:46:52.:47:14.

not need to go for it. Anca's miles away. She can't finish.

:47:15.:47:20.

120 left. A big score here. Oh, yes, this is good, this is very good.

:47:21.:47:39.

It is double top. They another chance to save it. For Anca. How

:47:40.:47:57.

about this, if she takes this out? Anastasia, you know, has only hit

:47:58.:48:02.

double top twice and she has had 16 darts today. She will hope she

:48:03.:48:06.

doesn't need another. A double ten for the match.

:48:07.:48:11.

Mind you, she has had only one out of seven now on double tens, make

:48:12.:48:21.

that one out of eight. OK. Deep breath. Triple 20. Triple 19.

:48:22.:48:40.

This for the match. In all she has missed 29 darts at a double,

:48:41.:48:47.

Anastasia. Double top it is. Double ten to save

:48:48.:49:04.

the match. Yeah! Well done! We are into sudden death! What a difference

:49:05.:49:16.

a dart makes. So they will throw for the bull's-eye. Whoever is closest

:49:17.:49:20.

will have the advantage of throwing first in this, the sudden-death leg.

:49:21.:49:26.

Whoever wins this leg wins this match.

:49:27.:49:32.

Finding out whether that is OK. Yes. This is it. Well, well, well, Tony.

:49:33.:49:49.

Who is your money on? I said Anca's away that she hasn't dropped yet. I

:49:50.:49:59.

think she is in with a good chance. She has stuck to her guns.

:50:00.:50:11.

Anastasia has had darts to win the match. Plenty of them. Good

:50:12.:50:26.

thinking. But she has missed them all. That is good. Must break the

:50:27.:50:35.

throw, though, if she is to go through. No fireworks yet from

:50:36.:50:43.

either player. It is who can hold their nerve at this stage. Terrific

:50:44.:50:55.

entertainment. Yes. They are battling away. The first 100 in this

:50:56.:50:57.

leg. Only a 60 from Anastasia. A little

:50:58.:51:09.

bit of daylight now for Anca Zijlstra from the Netherlands. Her

:51:10.:51:17.

partner, Les Dave, watches on as he starts to believe that Anca might do

:51:18.:51:19.

it. She is 202 points away. Well, the Mexicans are in. That is a

:51:20.:51:45.

part as are out. -- The Zapatas are out. Needs a triple. OK. The finish

:51:46.:51:56.

is on. Oh, dear, what happened then, Anca?

:51:57.:52:16.

Match point again for the Russian. Oh, she has left double top again.

:52:17.:52:24.

Anastasia! And she has listed again! -- missed it again. Pull the dart!

:52:25.:52:43.

Anastasia, you require 20. Experience can tell here. Two left.

:52:44.:52:52.

Double ten. 55, not the best double on the board. 15. This is exciting.

:52:53.:53:00.

Double two. Look at that. Just a fraction above that wire. Oh!

:53:01.:53:20.

Anastasia, you require five. Well, well, well, 35 missed doubles. There

:53:21.:53:26.

goes a number one. This is for the match and there goes another one!

:53:27.:53:31.

Can you believe what you are seeing here? Oh, dear.

:53:32.:53:42.

Unlucky. They are both in the madhouse and that is what lakeside

:53:43.:53:53.

is. A madhouse. This is the sudden-death leg, for a place in the

:53:54.:53:55.

quarter-finals. She has missed again and again and

:53:56.:54:08.

again! A little drink of water because you need it. Let's show them

:54:09.:54:17.

the way come on, everyone is cheering for you. Dave cannot

:54:18.:54:33.

breathe. Tens, nervous. There is! There it is! It is all over. What a

:54:34.:54:46.

match! Well, well, well, the tale of missed doubles ending, perhaps

:54:47.:54:56.

fittingly, with a double one. Reigning women's world champion Lisa

:54:57.:54:59.

Ashton has rewritten the rulebook as to what is possible as far as women

:55:00.:55:04.

starts is concerned. Her performance last year was sensational and he she

:55:05.:55:09.

was, at the start of going for a hat-trick of world grounds will

:55:10.:55:14.

opponent was the Lincolnshire County captain. Paula Jacklin on the way.

:55:15.:55:25.

Clearly these the world through rose tinted spectacles. -- sees the

:55:26.:55:37.

world. She has the advantage of throwing first in this leg. The best

:55:38.:55:44.

out of three sets wins the match. And wins a place in the

:55:45.:55:52.

quarter-finals. She has a lot to content with, I am afraid to say. --

:55:53.:56:08.

I think this will be very quick. But it is always quick when Lisa Ashton

:56:09.:56:13.

is there. She does not hang around. She is unbelievable. She should be

:56:14.:56:16.

playing with the men, to be honest. A decent start from Paula. You can

:56:17.:56:34.

tell from her walk on she was not nervous. She is not fazed by playing

:56:35.:56:40.

on that stage. Ball-up, she lost too early to the Gras last year. --

:56:41.:56:55.

Paula. Knocking on the door for a major final last year was Paula. She

:56:56.:56:57.

often came but it is Lisa who is on to her

:56:58.:57:28.

finish first. You really would not put this past her, even in the first

:57:29.:57:30.

leg. 136. These are the shots she would need

:57:31.:57:43.

to take out if she wants to stay in this match. That was for the bull.

:57:44.:57:59.

So Lisa, coming to the key. Triple 20 88, that is the shot. Oh, that is

:58:00.:58:09.

way off. I tell you what, pity our cameraman went Lisa Ashton is a

:58:10.:58:15.

deaf. She is just so quick. This is for the first leg of the match. She

:58:16.:58:21.

was aiming for the big 20 and hit the triple. That is double top. That

:58:22.:58:27.

is the one. Her two daughters also play

:58:28.:58:47.

Lancashire darts. It is a family affair. Daniel is the world youth

:58:48.:59:06.

champion. -- Danielle. There she is. What a great prospect she is as

:59:07.:59:15.

well. I had some great days with Lancashire. She was with them for

:59:16.:59:21.

seven or eight years, we had a great team then.

:59:22.:59:35.

And Louise Peters watching on, in action later. With a nice smile.

:59:36.:59:52.

This is good. This is good. Come on! That is OK. It keeps her in the leg.

:59:53.:59:56.

Perfect. A very nice last start. Paula has

:59:57.:00:16.

left 175. 170 is the biggest outshot that you

:00:17.:00:41.

can take out in three darts, three triple 20s and a bull's-eye, of

:00:42.:00:46.

course. Bring on the men. The match is only

:00:47.:01:05.

two legs old already and a three digit checkout. A nice diet from

:01:06.:01:12.

Paula. -- dart. There are the averages. In one match

:01:13.:01:54.

last year, Lisa averaged 90 plus. There's not much to separate them,

:01:55.:01:58.

it's just that Lisa is there, getting her chance at the end and

:01:59.:02:04.

taking it. Paula has not even had a chance of a double yet. Mind you, we

:02:05.:02:07.

are only two legs into this match. Some wonderful players, those

:02:08.:02:35.

Lancashire men and women. Billy Leonard, former world champion.

:02:36.:02:42.

He was a great player but let's get back to the action. This is for the

:02:43.:03:03.

set. It can't now be taken out. Paula has a chance. Yes. She could

:03:04.:03:20.

go for the ball all the triple 20. -- bull or for the triple 20.

:03:21.:03:31.

OK, for the first time, how are those doubles, Paula? She needs

:03:32.:04:03.

this. Come on, Paula. There are many people watching you. A full house.

:04:04.:04:05.

Yes! Very, very, very good diet. -- diet

:04:06.:04:15.

-- dart. I think Peter started off slowly

:04:16.:04:49.

like a few people do... In Mexico, he? We will be seeing all the fancy

:04:50.:04:56.

dress this week. Brilliant turnouts. Her second scorer of 140 plus, Lisa.

:04:57.:05:25.

It is comeback time. And another. That is her second score of over

:05:26.:05:31.

140, Paula. Recent match, this. Still favourites to take this lot.

:05:32.:05:34.

There it is. You would have lots of room. Squeeze

:05:35.:05:58.

one between them. Oh, lucky! This 61 is for the set for Lisa Ashton.

:05:59.:06:06.

Double 18, no problem. They are loving it.

:06:07.:06:16.

Averaging 85 in that state, hitting 50% of her doubles. She has returned

:06:17.:06:23.

to form, the defending champion. They are enjoying themselves

:06:24.:06:48.

already. This is the first date of action. Day one at Lakeside 2016,

:06:49.:07:00.

match one in the women's World Championship. Do you have the buzz

:07:01.:07:11.

yet? I get the buzz, Tony, when I pull into the car park. And now I

:07:12.:07:17.

think everyone else has got the buzz! Just to remind you, this is

:07:18.:07:28.

the women, not the man. -- men. There it is. A good marker. Yes.

:07:29.:07:37.

Oh, unlucky. Lisa has thrown 12 darts. She wants

:07:38.:07:55.

a. You should make that a lab and because one of them fell out of the

:07:56.:08:07.

board. -- 11. Here we go. Treble 20. 25 would have left double 18. She is

:08:08.:08:16.

allowed to ask the refereeing. She will be back four double 16, will

:08:17.:08:22.

Lisa, because Paul is back in 276? She needs to rediscover her focus

:08:23.:08:31.

after losing that first set. So double 16. Yes, no problem for the

:08:32.:08:35.

defending champions. Set after set. She missed her first

:08:36.:08:50.

two doubles in the first leg of the match at double top and she has only

:08:51.:08:54.

missed a bull's-eye since. And that was not by much.

:08:55.:08:59.

Metronomic. He she goes again. He she goes again!

:09:00.:09:16.

. There is a great buzz around the act arena. Desert around the arena.

:09:17.:09:32.

Amonde, Paula! -- come on, Paula! Everyone wants you to steam top. --

:09:33.:09:52.

deemed it up. Not too bad, but neither is on 261. -- Lisa. Paula

:09:53.:10:04.

needs a big score. Not enough. Enjoying themselves. It

:10:05.:10:34.

is a finish, 144. Paula is still on 234.

:10:35.:10:40.

55. Lisa, you require 144. She needs six dart from 144. 66 for Lisa. A

:10:41.:11:18.

treble ten would be handy. 16, double 12 she had left. Still the

:11:19.:11:37.

same five. -- same size. Astonishing finishing from Lisa Ashton. She

:11:38.:11:43.

missed to darts, at double top in the first leg of the match, but she

:11:44.:11:48.

had it everything bar one shot of everything at the bull 's eye in the

:11:49.:11:55.

third leg. I thought you were going to say everything but the kitchen

:11:56.:12:03.

door! It has been magic, really have the -- really has. She is averaging

:12:04.:12:16.

85. This is in round one. You have to feel for Paula. She had done

:12:17.:12:21.

nothing wrong. She has not had a look in. 30. I think Lisa may have

:12:22.:12:36.

to go into the men's teams this year!

:12:37.:12:41.

39. It is still just about pantomime season. And they have high heel on

:12:42.:13:06.

as well. 60. On my lord! Imagine sitting opposite him on the train.

:13:07.:13:08.

You would not get on it! OK, 280, the bureau. -- the throw.

:13:09.:13:33.

100. Well, flamingos in the stand on one leg, and Lisa Ashton is only one

:13:34.:13:39.

leg away from winning the match. She had six dart on 188, should she

:13:40.:13:51.

require them. -- six darts. No out shots for Paula.

:13:52.:14:02.

Will those be the last darts that Paula Jacklin throws? Double 16 for

:14:03.:14:14.

Lisa, for a place in the quarter-finals. Did you ever

:14:15.:14:19.

doubted? Great scoring from the world champion. Great finishing from

:14:20.:14:25.

the world champion. Do the very thoughtful Paula Jacklin, he did

:14:26.:14:29.

nothing wrong, but Lisa Ashton is through to the quarter-finals and

:14:30.:14:36.

makes a bit of a statement. Craig Caldwell had travelled all the way

:14:37.:14:40.

from Wellington to make this his debut, and he was up against a

:14:41.:14:45.

Scotsman, who had not travelled so far, Alan Souter, and the prize was

:14:46.:14:51.

the opportunity to say the defending world champion in the first round

:14:52.:14:53.

proper on Sunday. First blood to Alan Souter, the 30

:14:54.:15:18.

four-year-old Scottish qualifier. -- 34-year-old. 85.

:15:19.:15:31.

Caldwell needs to step on it. If he carries on like this, it will be a

:15:32.:15:43.

great match. It will go right down to the wire. He is putting those

:15:44.:16:13.

darts where he wants them. All that Alan Soutar can do is hope that he

:16:14.:16:20.

can take it out with the darts, but he has a lot of time. 81 left. 12

:16:21.:16:35.

darts thrown and he is on 62. 62, for Caldwell. 57. He once double

:16:36.:16:44.

16. -- that he wants. Holding his throw, a nice check

:16:45.:16:55.

out. 15 dart. XT. -- 60. Could match this, John.

:16:56.:17:26.

-- good. Solid match again, peppering that 20. 100.

:17:27.:17:43.

Having to make an adjustment, coming down with a really good cover shot.

:17:44.:17:52.

Ross Montgomery, another Scotsman, in the crowd, watching on. There

:17:53.:18:01.

here is -- he is, cherishing ambitions of his own and realising

:18:02.:18:07.

he is on camera as well! A great player, Ross. Alan Soutar needs a

:18:08.:18:18.

big hit, over 100 points adrift, this is handy. And another would be

:18:19.:18:24.

ideal. This is the maximum of the match, and what a time to do it!

:18:25.:18:30.

Couldn't group them together. Alan Soutar coming back with 106

:18:31.:18:43.

square up the match. That 180 was perfect in timing. Can Alan Soutar

:18:44.:18:46.

finish it off! -- off? Delay champ. Treble 18, full.

:18:47.:19:19.

Unlucky. -- bull. -- delay champ -- still a chance. To the wrong side.

:19:20.:19:39.

68. Extends. Double 16, under pressure, Alan Soutar on form. He

:19:40.:19:45.

has to get this. So important that he does not leave his road to go two

:19:46.:20:05.

down. -- live is bureau Dart -- loose his throw.

:20:06.:20:14.

Dingdong, he is right back in the match. Exciting. This is why he has

:20:15.:20:27.

done it so well this year. He has come up from under and he is in

:20:28.:20:35.

form. That if his first maximum. Was an up and under.

:20:36.:20:40.

He is heating them now, and in other. -- heating Dart hitting.

:20:41.:21:09.

Can he do this? Just the wrong side of the wire, and the pantomime crowd

:21:10.:21:29.

do not like it. The main thing now is to finish it off. He is throwing

:21:30.:21:39.

well now. That is the first time he has smiled. The playwright be? --

:21:40.:21:51.

can he play rugby? Looks like he may have done once upon a time. How many

:21:52.:22:02.

times have you seen that? You need 20 at the double top and usually the

:22:03.:22:11.

treble. -- you hit the treble. The double top.

:22:12.:22:17.

He did well then. A bit unlucky. Now, back on level terms. The

:22:18.:22:35.

checkout percentages of Caldwell are extraordinary, 71%. If he keep that

:22:36.:22:39.

up, he will be very difficult to beat. Anything around 40%-50%, very

:22:40.:22:45.

good. That was a really good effort. If you are just joining up, Dart up

:22:46.:23:07.

-- if you are just joining us, there have been no known Dart nine --

:23:08.:23:22.

9-darter since 1990. 1.2 when it. -- on point to win it.

:23:23.:24:19.

There we go. Treble 20. The bull. Caldwell to take the opening leg,

:24:20.:24:28.

116. You need that four double 18, for a 96 checkout. Perfect. That

:24:29.:24:42.

hurts Alan Soutar. Well, we have certainly found some talent here.

:24:43.:24:46.

The big man is getting the big scores, and he is getting the big

:24:47.:24:54.

out shots. He could be dangerous. We talked about the checkout

:24:55.:24:58.

percentage, that would make it even better. He has six out of eight. He

:24:59.:25:07.

is showing that he will be hard to beat. He looks in the zone, doesn't

:25:08.:25:13.

he? Overall averages are not what they were. Alan Soutar has gone off

:25:14.:25:17.

the boil a little. 81. A couple of loose starts in the

:25:18.:25:43.

meantime. 58. I wonder how long Craig has been over here because the

:25:44.:25:48.

jetlag is a factor when you start travelling all over the world, as I

:25:49.:25:52.

know from personal experience Jocky it is some journey. -- personal

:25:53.:25:58.

experience! The last time I was there, we have

:25:59.:26:09.

to turn around, the engine was on fire. Don't say that! Alan Soutar

:26:10.:26:21.

needs to get back quickly. He needs to break back and you really need a

:26:22.:26:22.

treble. But he is not on a finish. 59. Neither is called well. --

:26:23.:26:31.

Caldwell. 58. The Scottish flag is on his

:26:32.:26:44.

dart. Here we go, 19s. Here is a chance

:26:45.:27:35.

for Alan. Oh, dear! Unlucky, but a chance that had to be taken for Alan

:27:36.:27:42.

Soutar, double top needed. He has done it. All square. He kind of got

:27:43.:28:01.

away with that a little bit, Alan. Now, what a difference a dart

:28:02.:28:10.

makes! Young and old, they are all loving it. 140.

:28:11.:28:25.

Having to switch and doing it beautifully, once more. Cracking

:28:26.:28:36.

cover shot from Alan Soutar. Switching. 99.

:28:37.:28:50.

He has the advantage of this throw. And he has made it count. He has

:28:51.:28:57.

left a finish, 124. A good response, a good leg, this

:28:58.:29:11.

one. By the thrown nine though far. 124 the checkout required. This is

:29:12.:29:24.

the bull. Unlucky! Every chance for Caldwell. That is a great first

:29:25.:29:36.

dart, and is now 77. -- double seven. Swings and roundabouts, it is

:29:37.:29:50.

all happening. It is double four. Can he do it? He went for three.

:29:51.:30:06.

Caldwell, double seven. Three. Double two! Nurse from Alan Soutar,

:30:07.:30:17.

and Caldwell have the bit between his teeth -- and nurse -- and

:30:18.:30:28.

nerves. He'll be throwing this to his advantage, meanwhile, Alan

:30:29.:30:32.

Soutar having to compose himself and put that behind him. A bit of

:30:33.:30:37.

nervousness, I think. Creeping ever closer. 85.

:30:38.:30:52.

His Lakeside debut, called well but it called well -- Caldwell. Looking

:30:53.:31:13.

for his second maximum. The crowd is giving him the best of order. Yes!

:31:14.:31:29.

It is on with the show. This is the third for Caldwell.

:31:30.:31:40.

He has a lot of time on his side, Caldwell. What a cracker! We know

:31:41.:31:58.

now that they have some talent in Australia and New Zealand. OK,

:31:59.:32:12.

double top. Yes! That puts him in control of the match, potentially.

:32:13.:32:17.

Alan Soutar had his opportunities, and could not clean it out, and the

:32:18.:32:22.

man who has travelled 12,000 miles is now in a strong position in what

:32:23.:32:28.

could turn out to be the final set of this match. Well said, John. It

:32:29.:32:37.

has been magic. I have loved it. Have you? I have. Interesting how it

:32:38.:32:46.

turned around, because Alan Soutar started so impressively, but the

:32:47.:32:49.

tension has been palpable in the last few leg and it is the result of

:32:50.:32:58.

Caldwell cranking up the pressure. That is a 62% checkout rate for the

:32:59.:33:01.

man from New Zealand. Coming down, trying to take one at

:33:02.:33:17.

the bottom, and there it is. 97. Moving further ahead.

:33:18.:33:24.

140. Nice response. This puts Alan Soutar on the finish. Caldwell

:33:25.:33:42.

ahead, but Alan Soutar is in a good position to take this against the

:33:43.:33:45.

throw. This is very important for the Scotsman...

:33:46.:33:55.

He went for the treble 19. He cannot finish now, so maybe treble ten. He

:33:56.:34:20.

is left with 57. Double 8 four seater. -- double 8 for Alan Soutar.

:34:21.:34:35.

He has made a bit of a mess of this, Caldwell. May be a counting

:34:36.:34:36.

issue. Double ten. The fans are shouting out. What a

:34:37.:35:08.

last dart that was. He needed it. None of them like that.

:35:09.:35:16.

Caldwell has just lost that momentum that he had. I was just going to

:35:17.:35:37.

say, slipping by a little. Alan Soutar needs to alive, and they

:35:38.:36:06.

were excellent 19. 99. Caldwell have had the advantage and maximum 3-1.

:36:07.:36:19.

Tight match. 99. Scott will take that.

:36:20.:36:27.

He needed that travel, Alan Soutar now with 217. -- that treble.

:36:28.:36:39.

134. That was a nice dart from Caldwell. Eight treble 20 will lead

:36:40.:37:15.

a bull 's eye. -- are treble 80. Another one will do. Yes, double

:37:16.:37:23.

ten. It has hit the wire! What a dart! Alan Soutar, with the throw,

:37:24.:37:33.

87, to stop Caldwell to take the advantage that the seized in the

:37:34.:37:39.

first set. He needed the bull's-eye, but did not get close.

:37:40.:37:47.

That is not a bad marker. Cannot alive. Big dart for the New Zealand

:37:48.:38:01.

a. Using it. Sliding off the barrel of his first dart to go ahead. It

:38:02.:38:04.

goes to one apiece. And he Fordham is in the house, I am

:38:05.:38:35.

told. A former champion. -- Andrew. The old Viking. This is good. Look

:38:36.:38:53.

at them here! It is manic! 100. He loved it, and he knew how important

:38:54.:38:57.

it was, punching the air at the through those -- threw those. He is

:38:58.:39:27.

a nice fellow, and he. Another one, just off the wire! Treble 20. Cannot

:39:28.:39:34.

be done now. Trying to stay in the match now.

:39:35.:40:00.

Coldwell is a lead away from 31 and a place in the first round proper

:40:01.:40:04.

and a match against the defending champion. He has lasted the pace a

:40:05.:40:13.

lot better than Saturn, I am afraid to say. -- van salt time. Soutan. I

:40:14.:40:45.

think you are right there, John. Soutan has to win this led to keep

:40:46.:40:51.

the match alive. He is going the right way to do it, John. His second

:40:52.:41:00.

match. Not on a Finnish, but he is in a good position now.

:41:01.:41:16.

Two trebles would be handy. There is one of them and, yes! 76. He needs

:41:17.:41:50.

to get that finished. That is not what he needed. He needed 14 for the

:41:51.:41:54.

bull's-eye and you get the triple 11. Dear, dear. 15 would leave them

:41:55.:42:04.

on 88. Called well now 76 for the match. Triple 20. The shot is double

:42:05.:42:19.

eight. It is for the match. What a Mac should you have seen there.

:42:20.:42:30.

Absolutely fantastic. The New Zealander and Scotland are giving

:42:31.:42:36.

their roll of New Zealand, be proud. A quality finish. Craig Caldwell

:42:37.:42:43.

takes the place in the first round where he will play Scott Mitchell.

:42:44.:42:48.

The last time Jim Williams appeared on this stage he suffered a few

:42:49.:42:53.

nerves. Would it be the same when he was up against one of the most

:42:54.:42:59.

popular players ever to appear, none other than Tony O'Shea, appearing

:43:00.:43:01.

here for the 15th consecutive year. Anything over 50%, they bite your

:43:02.:43:17.

hand off for. Anything under 30%, they are disappointed with. And both

:43:18.:43:23.

players regularly check out percentages under 30. A little growl

:43:24.:43:31.

of frustration there from O'Shea as he took his darts out of the board.

:43:32.:43:34.

The silverback in him talking. That is more like it. Hello. There

:43:35.:43:49.

it is. His first 180 of the tournament putting him in very handy

:43:50.:43:51.

position. A nice reply. Nice cover on the 19th

:43:52.:44:05.

from Jim Williams. Not on a finish, though. And neither is O'Shea. Just

:44:06.:44:09.

when he wanted a big hit, he wasn't there. Back into the 19th.

:44:10.:44:21.

Unerringly. Nicely poised. 204 then, O'Shea. He could do with a number

:44:22.:44:32.

one. -- another one. Double 16 he needs. 88 just above. Yes! So, once

:44:33.:44:41.

again we are going to a deciding leg in this second set. Going with the

:44:42.:44:48.

fro, O'Shea under pressure now. He cannot afford to lose another set.

:44:49.:44:55.

If you were to lose this leg than the spectre of a potential

:44:56.:44:57.

first-round defeat would become only too real.

:44:58.:45:05.

After reaching the final in 2013, Tony O'Shea lost in round one 3-

:45:06.:45:15.

zero. Lost in a sudden-death leg to Scott Mitchell in the first round

:45:16.:45:19.

last year. Desperate not to make it a hat-trick of first round defeats

:45:20.:45:29.

bite he must win this leg, you feel. If he is to have a chance.

:45:30.:45:52.

And it is just 60. One of the players taking the opportunity to

:45:53.:46:07.

check out the atmosphere. They have all had a throw up on stage this

:46:08.:46:10.

morning just to see how it looks. Jim, you require 141. This is for

:46:11.:46:28.

the set for a two set lead. It cannot be done that you he is

:46:29.:46:33.

applying massive pressure to Tony O'Shea and that 142. 142 to stay

:46:34.:46:40.

alive in this set, then, and he cannot do it now. He will just have

:46:41.:46:44.

to hope that William is' nerves crack.

:46:45.:46:52.

Double 16, double eight and he has got it. Now O'Shea really has his

:46:53.:47:03.

back against the wall. Williams with a two set lead.

:47:04.:47:15.

Williams with the advantage of throwing first in this third set.

:47:16.:47:24.

Here is O'Shea staring at another first round defeat? Two in the last

:47:25.:47:36.

two years. Six in total for him. But he is also reached three finals.

:47:37.:47:44.

Beads of perspiration on his face. He has struggled, I think, with the

:47:45.:47:48.

conditions, the warmth of their onstage. -- up some low -- there are

:47:49.:48:05.

onstage. He has a marginal advantage, Williams, Betty has got

:48:06.:48:09.

in it when he needed it and that gave him the two set at vantage.

:48:10.:48:17.

Both of those sets that William is one went to a deciding leg. And on

:48:18.:48:26.

and on neither occasion did Tony O'Shea throw a dart for the set.

:48:27.:48:38.

At least he is still thinking. Double 18. This will be something.

:48:39.:48:49.

Close. Very close. A chance for O'Shea to take this leg against the

:48:50.:48:56.

throw. That is so important to O'Shea's chances and getting him at

:48:57.:49:02.

self out from a very difficult position.

:49:03.:49:09.

If he can get on a little roll, then you just never know.

:49:10.:49:22.

A great cover shot from Williams. Switching to the 19th. He has been

:49:23.:49:29.

metronomic down there, hasn't he? The last five dart at triple 19 have

:49:30.:49:39.

found the green. Williams has effectively taken the throw by the

:49:40.:49:44.

virtue of that previous visit and he has not capitalise there. --

:49:45.:49:58.

capitalised. A bit of downturn ad become gorilla. He must be warm in

:49:59.:50:10.

that suit. -- he must be cheering for the silverback.

:50:11.:50:16.

He has found a little bit of something better here, Tony O'Shea.

:50:17.:50:23.

And the 120 checkout is very makeable.

:50:24.:50:39.

Well, 166 is not a finish. 170 is the biggest one. And there are a

:50:40.:50:46.

couple of boogie numbers where you cannot take them out in three darts

:50:47.:50:54.

and a great first dart therefore O'Shea. Ooh, unlucky.

:50:55.:51:06.

A double 16 and this would hurt. O'Shea breathes again.

:51:07.:51:16.

That should be a good marker. He drags the 22 down and he cannot

:51:17.:51:33.

believe it. Right in the middle. That is a big, big leg that has

:51:34.:51:38.

slipped away from O'Shea. He should have taken that.

:51:39.:51:43.

Straight back in at triple 20, Jim Williams. He has a bit of swagger

:51:44.:51:54.

about him now. Decided to go for the triple 19 with the third died

:51:55.:52:00.

because of the lie of the first two. Darts aficionados know that of

:52:01.:52:05.

course and now about the cover shot, the switch down below, that is why

:52:06.:52:07.

they do it. Jaqui over from Belgium, he is

:52:08.:52:27.

always here. A great dad 's supporter. Year after year he makes

:52:28.:52:45.

the pilgrimage. -- darts. Williams is on one of those boogie numbers,

:52:46.:52:54.

no checkout on 165. But he will be back to look at 124 with Tony O'Shea

:52:55.:53:00.

back on 266. He needs a big score. I'm lucky.

:53:01.:53:03.

back on 266. He needs a big score. I'm Unlucky. So close to 180. A

:53:04.:53:10.

triple 18 would leave him bull's-eye. Bull's-eye for a 2-1

:53:11.:53:17.

lead in this third set. Would have left him a leg away.

:53:18.:53:23.

146 is big and can't be done. Williams with a big opportunity to

:53:24.:53:35.

move to the brink of a victory. Double eight. Take it out. Only one

:53:36.:53:40.

more leg required. Quoted the 11 to eight favourite,

:53:41.:54:06.

Jim Williams. He has been solid. 140 from Tony O'Shea and straight back

:54:07.:54:10.

into the triple 20 at the start of this leg. Perhaps the scoreboard is

:54:11.:54:14.

freeing up his arm a little. He needs it to.

:54:15.:54:19.

If he does not hold onto its throw here, O'Shea, it is good night and

:54:20.:54:25.

thank you. Or, good afternoon and thank you. Start the taxi. Whichever

:54:26.:54:29.

euphemism you care to use. I think he will be around for a

:54:30.:54:39.

little while yet. He likes to sample the atmosphere, sometimes he gets

:54:40.:54:46.

behind the microphone. He is good at it.

:54:47.:54:55.

You would have hoped for more than 60 to 76 is makeable. Nervous times

:54:56.:55:01.

for Jill. OK, then, Tony. 25 for Bull. Oh, he

:55:02.:55:18.

has hit the bull's-eye. So, Williams, 141 for the match. Cannot

:55:19.:55:21.

be done. Jill enjoyed that. He still

:55:22.:55:32.

cherishes his hopes. That was a nice solid start. He is

:55:33.:55:59.

putting O'Shea under big pressure to get huge numbers.

:56:00.:56:08.

Another set goes the distance. Will it go the same way as the first two?

:56:09.:56:18.

Will it go to Wales or can Tony O'Shea find something? He needs to

:56:19.:56:25.

find the triple 20. I wonder if there is potential to be heading

:56:26.:56:32.

towards a second round match against a Dutchman.

:56:33.:56:38.

Looking as though it is going to go the way of the Welshman at the

:56:39.:56:42.

moment. But so is this. That was a bounce

:56:43.:57:04.

out. How unlucky is that? 140 when he comes back. O'Shea is looking at

:57:05.:57:09.

the small target to try he comes back. O'Shea is looking at

:57:10.:57:15.

the small target to to try and add just to get the double, treble

:57:16.:57:22.

eight. This is a match died for Jim Williams. Oh, what a way to do it!

:57:23.:57:33.

He has knocked out Tony O'Shea, one of Lakeside's true gentleman. And a

:57:34.:57:38.

gracious loser as you can see. But Jim Williams in only his second

:57:39.:57:47.

visit has produced the big performance that he knew he was

:57:48.:57:52.

capable of. Well done on passing the standard. You now have time for a

:57:53.:57:57.

few hours sleep before joining is later this afternoon, one o'clock on

:57:58.:58:02.

BBC Two for two of the Lakeside World Championship.

:58:03.:58:12.

Join us again very soon. That night. -- good night.

:58:13.:58:22.

Listen to that cheer. It's going to be our year.

:58:23.:58:26.

With a little bit of luck I can see us lift the cup.

:58:27.:58:30.

It's the FA Cup. Anything can happen.
