Please welcome Andy Murray! What a welcome for Andy Murray.

:00:41.:00:52.

This is tight. So, here we are. After nearly an hour three set

:00:53.:01:01.

points. Just one needed.

:01:02.:01:09.

The ball went wide. He is livid. It's one set all. 2-1 Murray.

:01:10.:01:39.

Three-and-a-half hours of the most enthralling tennis.

:01:40.:01:48.

That's brilliant from Juan Martin del Potro. Four sets. Everything you

:01:49.:01:55.

could want from a Davis Cup tie and more.

:01:56.:02:00.

Made it! Magnificent from Del Potro. It's one of the great Davis Cup

:02:01.:02:07.

matches of all time. It's extraordinary!

:02:08.:02:17.

Revenge for Rio. Misery for Murray. Delight for Del Potro. It was a

:02:18.:02:28.

great match. I won, but I still remember the Olympic finals. But I

:02:29.:02:32.

think this is very important for me, for my team and we are looking

:02:33.:02:35.

forward to reach another finals in the Davis Cup.

:02:36.:02:47.

My goodness, the defending champions needed a pick me up and Kyle Edmund

:02:48.:03:01.

has given it to them. And we are level.

:03:02.:03:10.

Argentina move ahead by two sets to one.

:03:11.:03:27.

The defending champions' grip on the Davis Cup a flimsy one after the

:03:28.:03:35.

opening day of the semifinal. It's Great Britain 0, Argentina 2.

:03:36.:03:38.

Certainly a tough day when you are 2-0 down. We have had a lot of good

:03:39.:03:43.

days in the Davis Cup and this is one of those rougher ones. We have

:03:44.:03:50.

to keep fighting. They certainly do. What a memorable day of tennis

:03:51.:03:55.

yesterday. We witnessed one of the greatest matches in Davis Cup

:03:56.:03:57.

history. Juan Martin del Potro defeated Andy Murray in five

:03:58.:04:01.

outstanding sets. Although the Brits battled hard still as far as results

:04:02.:04:06.

go it was the most disappointing day for the British Davis Cup since

:04:07.:04:12.

2010. They have to win the doubles today to keep the tie alive. 2-0

:04:13.:04:16.

comebacks have been done before. Looking at the form of Juan Martin

:04:17.:04:20.

del Potro chances seem remote. The good news for the British team is

:04:21.:04:23.

that Andy Murray says he is fit enough. He is playing with his

:04:24.:04:28.

brother today in the doubles, Jamie. Also surprisingly, Juan Martin del

:04:29.:04:37.

Potro is also playing in the doubles against Leonardo Meyer. When it was

:04:38.:04:41.

announced to the crowd here that got a huge cheer and I have a feeling

:04:42.:04:47.

the Red Hot Chili Peppers are going to get a huge cheer when they finish

:04:48.:04:53.

their entertainment. It's It's loud here! It gets the crowd going. These

:04:54.:04:58.

occasions are amazing and it's down to the Murray brothers. What about

:04:59.:05:03.

Juan Martin del Potro playing? I am in total shock about that. I can't

:05:04.:05:08.

understand why he is playing. I suppose he must have woken up

:05:09.:05:12.

morning, said he felt great, let's go for a clean sweep. He thinks they

:05:13.:05:16.

can win this match. But I am shocked that the captain has put him in.

:05:17.:05:21.

When you win a match you are on a high, it's almost tougher for Andy

:05:22.:05:24.

to lose in five sets is devastating and to have to come out and play an

:05:25.:05:28.

important match today. It is devastating. Obviously those were

:05:29.:05:34.

the questions, will Murray play and will Del Potro play? Great Britain

:05:35.:05:39.

don't have a choice. I agree, Juan Martin del Potro is really strange,

:05:40.:05:42.

but looking ahead, Andy Murray you have to think he has another two

:05:43.:05:46.

best of five-set matches ahead of him and hopefully he gets the team

:05:47.:05:50.

into a deciding rubber. He is going to be looking to Jamie to be the

:05:51.:05:54.

team leader today. Let's look back to yesterday. We had to rush off air

:05:55.:05:58.

a little bit. The match lasted so long yesterday. It was so good. This

:05:59.:06:04.

is the break point in the fifth set which really did turn the match

:06:05.:06:08.

around. As Andy Murray said afterwards, it's very small margins

:06:09.:06:12.

in a match like that and that point was the decider. What a forehand

:06:13.:06:16.

from Juan Martin del Potro. It was a great match, one of the best I have

:06:17.:06:22.

seen in my life. It was sad that someone had to win. All credit to

:06:23.:06:25.

Juan Martin del Potro. What an effort he put in. He raised the

:06:26.:06:29.

level of his game. You wonder whether he would have the legs to

:06:30.:06:33.

get through five sets. He was so solid and so good. Yeah, when Murray

:06:34.:06:39.

won the second set and the third set you thought OK, Juan Martin del

:06:40.:06:42.

Potro might go away, but you expected Murray to get ahead. In the

:06:43.:06:49.

last 25 minutes of the match the Del Potro forehand, he raised it and

:06:50.:06:52.

dominated the court and that was the difference. Also we knew that Andy

:06:53.:06:58.

was going to fight so hard and he really did. Del Potro came out to

:06:59.:07:09.

serve. We will show you the effort Murray in in this point.

:07:10.:07:27.

APPLAUSE AND CHEERING

:07:28.:07:33.

Let's admire it again. We will isolate Murray and show you how hard

:07:34.:07:36.

he fought in this point. That got a standing ovation but it

:07:37.:08:06.

wasn't enough. Let's hear what andy had to say after that defeat.

:08:07.:08:11.

Andy, a dwruling match at the end of of a long season. -- gruelling. How

:08:12.:08:14.

is it from your speck peck to play? I think it was a good match. --

:08:15.:08:20.

perspective. You know, obviously I felt like there wasn't too many

:08:21.:08:25.

mistakes and important moments, both of us came up with good stuff at key

:08:26.:08:30.

moments. You know, the shot that he came up with to break in the fifth

:08:31.:08:34.

set, you know, was the difference at the end really. My condolences for

:08:35.:08:38.

the loss of your grandfather, was it a difficult decision to play today?

:08:39.:08:43.

No, I planned on playing. But it's hard, obviously. I never experienced

:08:44.:08:48.

that before with anyone in my family, so it's hard. At the moment

:08:49.:08:52.

you can't answer this question, is it going to be tough to try to play

:08:53.:08:56.

doubles tomorrow after the back of today? I would think so. I have

:08:57.:08:59.

never played a match of that length before. I will have to see how I

:09:00.:09:04.

feel when I wake up in the morning. It will be tough, for sure. Thank

:09:05.:09:07.

you for your time. Thanks. It certainly wouldn't have

:09:08.:09:12.

been an easy decision to make - come out and play the doubles. This was

:09:13.:09:17.

this morning coming out practising, looking very low-key. Understandably

:09:18.:09:21.

so. Absolutely. What a year he has had. The physical stuff he has put

:09:22.:09:24.

in and the amount of tournaments he has played. To come in here and the

:09:25.:09:29.

tragedy about his grandfather, as well. The pressure that's been on

:09:30.:09:33.

him and that match was exhausting yesterday. So emotional. I admire

:09:34.:09:38.

him once again for coming out. He knows he has to win this match to

:09:39.:09:42.

keep the tie alive. He is doing his stuff again. All credit to him. You

:09:43.:09:48.

have to admire him. He has always put himself up to say I will play

:09:49.:09:51.

three days in a row and these are best of five sets. You are asking a

:09:52.:09:55.

lot off one player to play all three matches every tie. We knew he was

:09:56.:09:58.

running on empty before he came in here with the summer he had had. The

:09:59.:10:03.

final of the French Open, winning Queens and the Olympics, he is

:10:04.:10:06.

winning so many matches. That match yesterday, to be - of course it had

:10:07.:10:10.

to be the longest match he ever played. Then to come out today, but

:10:11.:10:14.

as you rightly say, with having Evans and Edmund on the court, sorry

:10:15.:10:18.

in the team, he has to be on the court today. Absolutely. We talk

:10:19.:10:23.

about you have to come back from 2-0 down. It has been done before.

:10:24.:10:27.

Croatia did it against the United States. They came back in the

:10:28.:10:32.

quarter-final in July, defeating the Bryan brothers and also beating

:10:33.:10:39.

Isner. It's only been done ten times since 1981. It's a big ask. It

:10:40.:10:45.

certainly is. On paper you look at the team and you look at Del Potro

:10:46.:10:50.

will be playing the fifth rubber if it comes down to that, he will have

:10:51.:10:54.

to be favourite. But it can be done. We are the champions. From this

:10:55.:10:58.

year, and that means a lot. They're not going to give the Cup up without

:10:59.:11:03.

a great fight. Absolutely. The form of Del Potro. If you are looking at

:11:04.:11:09.

form you would think the Murray brothers, depending on if Andy is

:11:10.:11:15.

moving well enough would be favourites. It's down to Juan Martin

:11:16.:11:21.

del Potro, Edmund or Evans? That's why the surprise that he is on the

:11:22.:11:24.

court today having played five hours, to be on the court you think

:11:25.:11:28.

the Argentinians have two rubbers already, they think it's going to

:11:29.:11:31.

go... Well, they think potentially it go will to a fifth match and they

:11:32.:11:34.

would have taken that before it started, to have Juan Martin del

:11:35.:11:37.

Potro in that match, maybe he wants to be fresh. I don't know, maybe

:11:38.:11:42.

they're sensing weakness in the British camp, and they want to win

:11:43.:11:49.

3-0. Also maybe Juan Martin del Potro thought Andy won't play. Maybe

:11:50.:11:53.

he wouldn't play and he can come in and win all three. It's mind games

:11:54.:11:59.

being the captain, isn't it? It was but Juan Martin del Potro would have

:12:00.:12:02.

said I want to play and he must be on such a high after the summer he

:12:03.:12:07.

has had. The comeback. How was his demeanour yesterday, so calm and

:12:08.:12:09.

probably woke up this morning and thought I can win this doubles as

:12:10.:12:13.

well. Why not? He has to say that. When you have had a win like that

:12:14.:12:18.

it's easier to recover from the physical pain. How good a doubles

:12:19.:12:22.

player is Juan Martin del Potro? He was practising today. He looked

:12:23.:12:25.

sharp. It comes down to the theory that the top singles players in the

:12:26.:12:29.

world, I agree with you, John, the top in the world when they're on the

:12:30.:12:32.

doubles court are also the top doubles players in the world,

:12:33.:12:35.

they're that good. You look at Juan Martin del Potro's game and he has

:12:36.:12:38.

the massive serve, that will be a help in any doubles match. He is OK

:12:39.:12:44.

at the net, he has a massive wing span. The question mark is on the

:12:45.:12:49.

backhand side, he has to use the slice a lot. If he gets pinned to

:12:50.:12:54.

the back of the court, we don't know how he is going to cope with that.

:12:55.:13:01.

We don't know a lot about Mayer. They've a few doubles players, he

:13:02.:13:05.

has gone for more of the singles players. It was strange the captain

:13:06.:13:12.

didn't pick a doubles specialist. Mayer has a good record. He is

:13:13.:13:17.

pretty solid. He combines well. They figure that with Juan Martin del

:13:18.:13:20.

Potro there will be a good combination. I still think it's a

:13:21.:13:23.

strange decision. I can't understand it myself. I would have kept Del

:13:24.:13:29.

Potro fresh for the fifth match. You have been in the captain's chair.

:13:30.:13:33.

How difficult has it been for Leon Smith to lift the team. This is

:13:34.:13:38.

territory he hasn't been in before. Exactly what you said, when you have

:13:39.:13:41.

Andy Murray in the team he is so good you don't expect him to lose.

:13:42.:13:45.

Psychologically when you are nom - your number one player, the man of

:13:46.:13:49.

steel has lost, it sends that a message to the team. Leon Smith

:13:50.:13:54.

would have had to spend time talking to the rest of the team. Andy will

:13:55.:13:57.

be fine, but the rest of the team, that was a blow to them

:13:58.:14:02.

psychologically, he will have to say listen, we are number one here, we

:14:03.:14:06.

can still come back. We can do this. Also as far as Kyle Edmund is

:14:07.:14:10.

concerned, it wasn't good for him either. Here comes the captain, he

:14:11.:14:21.

would have been a happy captain yesterday, that's for sure. Here

:14:22.:14:22.

come the players. So the Argentinian team are out. Now

:14:23.:15:31.

for Great Britain. They'll give them a big cheer. They're going to need

:15:32.:15:33.

it as well today. APPLAUSE AND

:15:34.:15:50.

CHEERING A huge cheer for the British team.

:15:51.:16:54.

Jamie Murray there at the end, fresh from his US Open win. He is having a

:16:55.:16:59.

fantastic year in doubles. He will need to lift his brother as he can

:17:00.:17:02.

today. This was supposed to be done yesterday at the opening ceremony,

:17:03.:17:06.

the exchange of the little flags they have. But the British team had

:17:07.:17:09.

lost theirs. They went and found them! So the players exchange with

:17:10.:17:14.

their opposite number and off they go. Kyle Edmund the number two up

:17:15.:17:22.

against del Potro. His ranking still isn't what it was. This is so key.

:17:23.:17:27.

This is when they've to try to lift themselves and forget what happened

:17:28.:17:31.

yesterday and take it as the tennis players, one match at a time. Leon

:17:32.:17:37.

Smith and the rest of the team, there was a massive task in between

:17:38.:17:41.

the Andy Murray and del Potro match before Kyle Edmund came out because

:17:42.:17:45.

really you don't have ten or 15 minutes and that was always going to

:17:46.:17:49.

be a tough position to be in and that first match has had a feel of a

:17:50.:17:52.

match on Sunday. Normally you don't come out for another match after

:17:53.:17:57.

that. So very tough. When del Potro came out on the court there, that

:17:58.:18:01.

ovation he got, that represents everything that the Davis Cup is

:18:02.:18:04.

about, just sheer utter respect from the whole stadium. Great to see him

:18:05.:18:15.

back. The barmy Army from Stirling University standing and appreciating

:18:16.:18:21.

the tennis they saw yesterday. It's a reminder of how great a player we

:18:22.:18:25.

have been if he hadn't had the injury. We talk about the fab four.

:18:26.:18:28.

We have been talking about the fab four. If del Potro hadn't been

:18:29.:18:33.

injured that probably would have existed it probably would have been

:18:34.:18:37.

a fab five. Who knows how many Grand Slams he would have won. He is a

:18:38.:18:40.

class player and the crowd loves him. It's all change at the top.

:18:41.:18:45.

It's so tough at the top of the men's game right now. Yeah and with

:18:46.:18:51.

Nadal you hope he comes back to somewhere near his best. Federer no

:18:52.:18:57.

one knows how he will react with his surgery. Rivalry is back in play for

:18:58.:19:01.

next year, no question. They haven't played an easy match. It will be a

:19:02.:19:08.

great riflery. Imagine if del Potro keeps playing the way we think he is

:19:09.:19:13.

-- rivalry. We hope we get something close to what they provided in Rio.

:19:14.:19:18.

That was emotional. It was the outstanding quality of the tennis

:19:19.:19:21.

from start to finish, it's a match that will live in the memory for

:19:22.:19:24.

them and for us for a long time. It was staggering. When you thought

:19:25.:19:28.

both were on the floor tired, they seemed to raise it again. You

:19:29.:19:32.

mentioned the point earlier, John, about the demeanour of both players.

:19:33.:19:36.

Del Potro was calm and not wasting energy between points. On the

:19:37.:19:40.

reverse, Murray a different personality was burning so much

:19:41.:19:45.

energy in between points, that's his way of getting himself geed up.

:19:46.:19:49.

Total contrast. Sometimes different styles make great matches.

:19:50.:19:54.

Absolutely. That really was one of the greatest. Andy Murray, he lost

:19:55.:19:58.

in five sets yesterday, partnering his brother Jamie Murray who has had

:19:59.:20:02.

an outstanding year. Won the Australian Open, recently won the US

:20:03.:20:05.

Open. What a successful year it's been. Let's hear from him. He has

:20:06.:20:15.

been talking to our Jamie. That's it! Third time lucky for

:20:16.:20:20.

Jamie Murray. Last year he was a finalist at Wimbledon and the US

:20:21.:20:26.

Open. Now a winner. Jamie, a year ago we were here against Australia

:20:27.:20:30.

saying how good a year you had, 12 months on, two Grand Slam titles,

:20:31.:20:34.

won the Davis Cup. Why do you think the last 12 months has been so

:20:35.:20:43.

successful? Good question. I guess a good partner in Bruno, been working

:20:44.:20:49.

well for us this year. Felt like we had a good chemistry and energy on

:20:50.:20:56.

the court together. Yeah, we really trust in each other's games. Both

:20:57.:21:01.

our kind of strengths match well with each other. Even when we are

:21:02.:21:04.

maybe not playing our best we still have skills that will work well

:21:05.:21:10.

together as a team that can get us wins on the board. What are these

:21:11.:21:14.

Davis Cup weeks like for you, with Andy in the team the assumption is

:21:15.:21:17.

that you will play with him. Obviously he has a lot of focus on

:21:18.:21:22.

the singles. How does the team McThat with practice sessions and

:21:23.:21:25.

everything -- the team manage that with practice sessions and

:21:26.:21:28.

everything? Andy has been practising doubles each day at the end of his

:21:29.:21:34.

sessions. Working on return, because return in singles is different to

:21:35.:21:40.

doubles, I think. Practising a bit more kind of maybe set plays that

:21:41.:21:43.

maybe we are going to do, things like that. Yesterday we played a

:21:44.:21:51.

practice set that was good, just on the court. Normally for me I kind of

:21:52.:21:56.

do my own stuff, make sure I am ready to play on Saturday, practise

:21:57.:22:02.

with Dom a lot, as well. Just in case, because often if Andy is not

:22:03.:22:07.

ready to play, then me and Dom will play. Normally it goes well. Leon

:22:08.:22:12.

does a great job of preparing the guys and making sure everyone gets

:22:13.:22:15.

what they need so they're ready to play respective matches. A word

:22:16.:22:19.

about being back in Glasgow, the noise and everything on Friday, I

:22:20.:22:22.

imagine you were inching to get out by Saturday? Definitely. An amazing

:22:23.:22:28.

year last year. The matches I remember most was probably the Davis

:22:29.:22:32.

Cup matches I played. That tells you something about how good it is to

:22:33.:22:36.

play here, the atmosphere to expect and fully looking forward to playing

:22:37.:22:40.

on Saturday. It's been interesting over the years, about three or four

:22:41.:22:44.

years ago we wondered what would happen to Jamie, he hadn't found a

:22:45.:22:47.

partner he gelled with. Now look at him, he has ground Bruno and a

:22:48.:22:52.

holder of two Grand Slam titles. Yeah, he had a good partnership with

:22:53.:22:56.

an American player, got up into the top 20. Then fell back down. You are

:22:57.:22:59.

wondering was he going to find that partnership again? Had a great time

:23:00.:23:04.

with John, they were successful. That move, a lot of people were

:23:05.:23:07.

questioning whether it was the right decision last year. That's clearly

:23:08.:23:10.

paid off. Jamie mentioned at the beginning of that interview the

:23:11.:23:16.

partnership with him and Bruno, they're also different characters.

:23:17.:23:19.

Bruno is calm and relaxed. Jamie gets fired up with the energy. It's

:23:20.:23:24.

a good match for them. This is a good match-up with Andy. Jamie, put

:23:25.:23:29.

into context how good his volleys are and how quick he is. Amazing.

:23:30.:23:35.

Even when he played singles, one of the top in Europe, up to about 13 or

:23:36.:23:38.

14, always coming into the net. There is two things. The speed of

:23:39.:23:43.

his reactions which is just sensational. And you watch him play,

:23:44.:23:47.

you always see his hands in front. So in front, seems like a basic

:23:48.:23:50.

thing but a lot of people are not able to do that. Also you look at

:23:51.:23:54.

how tall he is and his wing span. He reads the game well and it's hard to

:23:55.:23:57.

get the ball past him at the net. Massive reach, as well. An

:23:58.:24:01.

interesting point he mentioned about Andy having to practise the return

:24:02.:24:05.

of serve. It's different singles to doubles. It is different. Obviously

:24:06.:24:09.

in the singles court Andy is one of the best, if not THE best returner

:24:10.:24:14.

in the game. When you are facing a singles player you see the whole

:24:15.:24:17.

court. On the doubles court you see different things. You see an eye

:24:18.:24:20.

formation, somebody at the net, sometimes both players back. It is a

:24:21.:24:23.

different thing. You are looking at a smaller target. It's a question of

:24:24.:24:27.

getting used to that. Andy can probably put a return on a five

:24:28.:24:32.

pence piece if he wanted to. As far as the opponents go, del Potro

:24:33.:24:38.

played in the last Davis Cup tie and won his doubles match. He doesn't

:24:39.:24:42.

look like a doubles player. This is going to be interesting to match

:24:43.:24:45.

him. Yeah, he obviously hasn't played a lot of doubles but showing

:24:46.:24:51.

that he came into the last Davis Cup tie and managed to win that match

:24:52.:24:55.

played with Pella in that one. The weapon of the serve is going to be

:24:56.:25:00.

good on any doubles match, it's going to cause anyone problems. When

:25:01.:25:05.

you have somebody with a big match temperament like del Potro does,

:25:06.:25:09.

whatever match it is and an occasion like this it's hard to imagine not

:25:10.:25:12.

having him on the court. He is going to be a real asset to the team.

:25:13.:25:16.

That's why the captain, he probably put himself up, del Potro, and said

:25:17.:25:20.

I want to carry on because he had a good time out there. When you are on

:25:21.:25:25.

a winning role you want to keep it going. The captain last night would

:25:26.:25:30.

have been waiting to see what del Potro was going to say, if he

:25:31.:25:33.

mentions the idea of playing doubles I am putting him in straightaway and

:25:34.:25:37.

that's what happened. Absolutely. You feel for Leon Smith and how

:25:38.:25:41.

difficult it's going to be. He knows these boys so well. He coached them

:25:42.:25:46.

both when they were much younger. It's a real team spirit out there on

:25:47.:25:49.

the court. There is. I think yesterday and in particular the

:25:50.:25:53.

Murray del Potro match was probably the most difficult match of his

:25:54.:25:56.

captaincy. There was a tactical battle going on. The idea of whether

:25:57.:26:00.

Andy should have come into the net more and I could see there was

:26:01.:26:03.

instructions passed back and forth. Andy has such a good feel for the

:26:04.:26:07.

game of what is required. It's difficult to know when to say

:26:08.:26:11.

anything and not say anything. You are right, as well as having a

:26:12.:26:15.

professional relationship, they know each other so well. Yeah, I think

:26:16.:26:19.

the Murray brothers, you couldn't ask for anybody better to be on the

:26:20.:26:22.

court representing Great Britain. His record has been outstanding

:26:23.:26:27.

since he took over in 2010. They've to win all three remaining matches.

:26:28.:26:31.

It's got to start here with Andy and Jamie playing del Potro and Mayer.

:26:32.:26:36.

That's the doubles match. Before I hand over to the commentators. If

:26:37.:26:41.

you want to get in touch there is many ways you can at BBC Sport is

:26:42.:26:46.

one of the addresses. Or via the website.

:26:47.:26:51.

Or on our Facebook page, as well. So many ways to get in touch with us,

:26:52.:26:55.

anything about the doubles, the team, selections, what do you think

:26:56.:26:57.

should happen? Please do get in touch, we would love to hear from

:26:58.:27:00.

you. We are ready for this really crucial doubles now. Argentina 2-0

:27:01.:27:04.

up in the tie. This is a must-win match for Great Britain. Thank you

:27:05.:27:08.

to Jamie. It's time to hand over to John Lloyd, who has made his way to

:27:09.:27:14.

the commentary box alongside John Inverdale.

:27:15.:27:19.

Well, a quiet Saturday afternoon in Glasgow this will not be! They're

:27:20.:27:29.

going to try to match the decibels down at Ibrox later! Great Britain

:27:30.:27:33.

win and The Great Escape is, if not on, at least it's alive. The dream

:27:34.:27:39.

of retaining the Davis Cup hangs by a thread before a ball is hit today.

:27:40.:27:42.

We obviously have been used to over the years to this being the decisive

:27:43.:27:46.

day in a succession of ties, decisive in a positive way for Great

:27:47.:27:50.

Britain. But with a five out of five record in the Davis Cup for Murray

:27:51.:27:56.

and Murray. This is sink or swim. Simple as that. So, here we go.

:27:57.:28:04.

Perhaps one of the most important matches in Jamie Murray's very

:28:05.:28:08.

distinguished doubles career. He may have to be the dominant figure for

:28:09.:28:10.

Great Britain today. How would you describe your mood,

:28:11.:29:06.

John Lloyd, optimistic, calm, apprehensive? I am optimistic about

:29:07.:29:10.

this match. The rest of the tie or should I say the fifth match which I

:29:11.:29:15.

think it will go to, that's going to be difficult.

:29:16.:29:49.

A couple of mis-hit volleys there from Mayer. Had chances there.

:29:50.:29:57.

That's how loud it is after three points! That one he should have put

:29:58.:30:03.

away. That one he should have put away and that one he is lucky didn't

:30:04.:30:04.

get put away. That right there is the most

:30:05.:30:33.

difficult volley. The one that just skims over the net. You don't think

:30:34.:30:37.

it is going ore, then it does and you are not prepared. That is the

:30:38.:30:42.

one you have to have your eyes down level with the ball.

:30:43.:30:44.

Expect it to happen. There are few certainties in sport.

:30:45.:31:41.

But the Davis Cup doubles on a Saturday by and large you can put

:31:42.:31:47.

your money on. It doesn't get much better. It doesn't. I thought it was

:31:48.:31:51.

an interesting statement that Jamie Murray served first. Because for me,

:31:52.:31:55.

the better combination of the two is when Andy serves because he has a

:31:56.:31:59.

intifrg and when Jamie is up at the net because he has a better volley.

:32:00.:32:03.

This is the new Jamie Murray, feeling he should serve first. The

:32:04.:32:15.

double Grand Slam champion. Exactly. I was talking to a couple of the

:32:16.:32:20.

Barmy Army from Stirling University last night and they could barely

:32:21.:32:24.

speak at 9.00 last night. How they are able to chant today, I have no

:32:25.:32:25.

idea. Well a couple of volleys that

:32:26.:33:35.

haven't been put away by the Argentinian, that has helped Great

:33:36.:33:38.

Britain enormously at the start of this match.

:33:39.:34:05.

Very positive, very authoritative from Jamie Murray. Very much. So,

:34:06.:34:12.

Mayer is going to have to be careful on his serve, where he is directing

:34:13.:34:16.

the serve, going too much into Jamie Murray's Babs hand at the moment and

:34:17.:34:21.

he loves that when you serve to his backhand, especially on the second

:34:22.:34:25.

serve, he can hit it on the rise, the forehand is definitely the

:34:26.:34:27.

weaker wing. Good start from the Brits though.

:34:28.:34:49.

Goodness me. Was he being nice there? He saw that target in front

:34:50.:34:56.

of him. It is like he didn't want to hit him. Then he sort of tried to

:34:57.:35:01.

manoeuvre it to the left side. This is interesting here, because this

:35:02.:35:06.

was, he could have put either one of them in big trouble. It was like he

:35:07.:35:11.

was trying to avoid them. Either way, an early break of serve

:35:12.:35:13.

for Great Britain. Let us not forghaet is what Andy had

:35:14.:35:26.

yesterday. That is right. -- forget.

:35:27.:35:35.

It is a funny old game at the moment. Some strange shots being

:35:36.:35:40.

played all over the place. Huge amount of energy you can see

:35:41.:36:12.

from Jamie Murray. He is the jack-in-the-box, the driving force.

:36:13.:36:22.

Oh, and he he is also the Maestro, what an angle. That is a ridiculous

:36:23.:36:35.

shot. From that height, oh. This is a difficult... Fantastic.

:36:36.:36:45.

That is why he won the Aussie Open and the US Open. I counted three

:36:46.:37:03.

shots already, in the first three games, where on the return of serve,

:37:04.:37:08.

from the Argentina side, as they have gone to hit the ball Jamie has

:37:09.:37:14.

made these subtle moves and three times itself has put them off. They

:37:15.:37:19.

see him move, they don't know if he is going to cross, they hesitate.

:37:20.:37:23.

That is what good net player do, they continue to put a message about

:37:24.:37:27.

whether they are going to move. It puts doubt in the return of serve.

:37:28.:37:32.

At the moment, he, Andy Murray has done his part so far, but Jamie

:37:33.:37:36.

Murray so far, has started off, he wants this match to be over in about

:37:37.:37:41.

an hour so his brother can have plenty of rest tomorrow. It is like

:37:42.:37:47.

he is to move. It puts doubt in the return of serve. At the moment, he,

:37:48.:37:49.

Andy Murray has done his part so far, but Jamie Murray so far, has

:37:50.:37:52.

started off, he wants this match to be over in about an hour so his

:37:53.:37:55.

brother can have plenty of rest tomorrow. It is like he is saying to

:37:56.:37:58.

his kid brother "I will look after you." Andy probably can't express

:37:59.:38:01.

how tired he is, but he does not want, irrespective of today, in the

:38:02.:38:03.

context of the tie as a whole. Andy Murray does not want this to be four

:38:04.:38:05.

hours. No. Well, three minutes a game, and all

:38:06.:38:16.

three have gone the way of Great Britain so far. And he hasn't really

:38:17.:38:23.

hit too many balls so far, but any way, here to serve for the first

:38:24.:38:28.

time in this match is Andy Murray's nemesis from yesterday, what a great

:38:29.:38:32.

player, and what an amazing interview afterwards he gave.

:38:33.:39:18.

Jamie Murray at the moment is like a panther at the net. He is absolutely

:39:19.:39:23.

everywhere. He has done it again! Again! That is

:39:24.:39:56.

extraordinary. He has the target to go at, nine out of ten he is going

:39:57.:40:01.

to make the winner and he has missed it. There is a Code of Conduct you

:40:02.:40:06.

don't drill it at your opponent at the net, having said that you do

:40:07.:40:12.

sometimes. You have to in that circumstances, we will have to put

:40:13.:40:14.

that down to nerves. They got away with that but it was

:40:15.:40:32.

the difference of crossing Mayer. He crossed about a second too soon and

:40:33.:40:42.

was lucky to get away with it. Jamie Murray'sing has been timed to

:40:43.:40:48.

perfection. -- Jamie Murray'sing has band timed to perfection.

:40:49.:41:06.

Well... Very early days, but the Murray's are in a hurry. And here is

:41:07.:41:18.

is a break point for a 4-0 lead in this first set.

:41:19.:42:03.

Ball was called in. Jamie seemed hugely confidence about this one. He

:42:04.:42:16.

must have very good eyes. This is a shot that is not used much

:42:17.:42:54.

in the doubles these days, the lob. Jamie hits that so well, it is one

:42:55.:43:00.

of his best shots, everyone off the return of serve he hits it well. So

:43:01.:43:10.

a second opportunity for a 4-0 lead in this opening set for Great

:43:11.:43:19.

Britain. Great crosscourt return from Andy.

:43:20.:43:25.

And the Murray's are four to the good.

:43:26.:44:11.

That is the first part of the match that Mayer has taken control of.

:44:12.:44:36.

It true, as well, it is like golf, four balls and four some, if you

:44:37.:44:44.

only play alternate shots it is sometimes hard to get a rhythm. You

:44:45.:44:48.

can sometimes find yourself almost being on the margins in a doubles

:44:49.:44:51.

match by the nature of the game the ball is not going your way, it can

:44:52.:44:56.

take a while to get into the match. Yes.

:44:57.:45:41.

Jamie Murray just targeting the Del Potro backhand return.

:45:42.:46:15.

High FIAs from Leon Smith, five games in 17 minutes. And they have

:46:16.:46:23.

all been won by Great Britain. You said at the start of the

:46:24.:46:27.

programme in the studio with Jamie and Sue about how amazed you were

:46:28.:46:32.

Del Potro was in the Argentine pair, would he have overridden, because

:46:33.:46:35.

you get the impression that Leon Smith is the captain but must will

:46:36.:46:39.

have the final say on whether he plays or doesn't. Do you get the

:46:40.:46:44.

impression that Del Potro has a similar relationship, he would have

:46:45.:46:47.

said I feel so good after yesterday I want to finish the job today. No

:46:48.:46:51.

doubt about it. Absolutely no doubt that Del Potro was the one that said

:46:52.:46:56.

I want to play. There is no question, in that relationship, what

:46:57.:47:00.

would have happened. I don't understand it, because just the

:47:01.:47:03.

match ups alone and you are looking at this. It is a dream start by the

:47:04.:47:08.

British pair, I can't see how they could think that logically they

:47:09.:47:12.

could win the double, why would you tire out? I mean, the match

:47:13.:47:15.

continues like this, this is not even a warm up, so I suppose if they

:47:16.:47:21.

lose and it carries on like this there would have been no harm done.

:47:22.:47:25.

Why would they tire out with a 2-0 lead when they have Del Potro to

:47:26.:47:29.

close out the fifth if it goes that far? A lot of tennis to be played

:47:30.:47:34.

between now and that possible scenario of course, on the sidelines

:47:35.:47:40.

Kyle Edmund and Dan Evans watch on, if the Brits were to win this and

:47:41.:47:43.

Andy Murray was to win the first match tomorrow, it would come down

:47:44.:47:48.

to either Kyle Edmund or Dan Evans, we expect Dan Evans to play perhaps

:47:49.:47:53.

the match of his life against Juan Martin Del Potro tomorrow afternoon.

:47:54.:48:00.

But that is for, well, probably 26 hour's time or thereabouts. So...

:48:01.:48:15.

We ought to say after just 19 minute, here are the Argentinians

:48:16.:48:19.

serving to stay in the first set. Great Men's Doubles. One or two

:48:20.:49:01.

slightly flawed doubles but nonetheless, in terms of

:49:02.:49:04.

entertainment, that keeps the crowds coming back. It is the whole thing,

:49:05.:49:09.

in this crowd probably 75% of the people who play tennis here play

:49:10.:49:12.

only doubles, this is what they play, this is what they are looking

:49:13.:49:15.

alet to see what they are doing differently. A few things! Movement

:49:16.:49:18.

being one of them. At some point in the nexter three,

:49:19.:49:54.

four five minutes, you can tell us about the difference between singles

:49:55.:49:57.

and double, especially for somebody like Del Potro who barely plays this

:49:58.:49:59.

form of the game. And the Argentine fans who were so

:50:00.:51:07.

vocal yesterday and added to the fantastic atmosphere, the first

:51:08.:51:11.

reason for them to get on their feet this afternoon.

:51:12.:51:40.

I I was talking to a much respected Argentine journalist in the media

:51:41.:51:47.

room earlier, and he said he had been to three finals in the last

:51:48.:51:52.

decade or so, he said you watch, Argentine tennis has an unbelievable

:51:53.:51:57.

capacity tos me things up. I said I hope so!

:51:58.:53:03.

Mess things up. I said I hope so! You were talking about Del Potro's

:53:04.:53:11.

demeanour yesterday, he is a very cool guy isn't he? So calm. Just

:53:12.:53:17.

seems to let nothing worry him. He can't tell the different whether he

:53:18.:53:19.

is winning or losing, the same face. Another outrageous angle from Jamie

:53:20.:53:45.

Murray. That shot he hit there, those shots are due to hours and

:53:46.:53:50.

hours of practising with buckets of balls being fired at you, from a

:53:51.:53:54.

foot away from the net. You have to put them away, or you go to hospital

:53:55.:54:01.

if you don't get your racket in the way in time. Have you ever taken one

:54:02.:54:13.

full in the face? One reflex volley hit me in the eye once, you learn to

:54:14.:54:17.

get quick, pretty quickly. That happens.

:54:18.:54:22.

Your back swing becomes shorter all of a sudden.

:54:23.:54:45.

In our vacuum sealed commentary box it seems loud. How loud is it down

:54:46.:55:08.

there in the mosh pit, Jamie. We have been down here court side. One

:55:09.:55:15.

of the things so far is that the goodbye team are rejuvenated. We can

:55:16.:55:20.

see, there is not a space out here, and there is every single member of

:55:21.:55:24.

the team, including the Stringer sat out here, so I think Lyon sit Smith

:55:25.:55:28.

and the rest of team had a talk last night and said come on, let's raise

:55:29.:55:34.

our energy, on the court it has been Jamie Murray leading the team in

:55:35.:55:37.

that first set. We mentioned before the match how good his net play, he

:55:38.:55:41.

has been all over the net, Andy Murray has been doing his thing, he

:55:42.:55:46.

has served welling return well but Jamie Murray, the Argentinians have

:55:47.:55:50.

felt like they can't get the ball away him. All the problems are with

:55:51.:55:53.

the Argentinian, they are spending time at the back of court. I don't

:55:54.:55:56.

think that is going to be the answer to the Murray problem but Glasgow

:55:57.:55:59.

are delighted with that start for GB.

:56:00.:56:05.

Interesting point Jamie made there about playing at the back of the

:56:06.:56:09.

court. Just tell us, from a Del Potro point of view, OK, a

:56:10.:56:13.

phenomenal tennis player with a capital P but he doesn't play

:56:14.:56:17.

doubles much, if a all, so what are the challenges that he faces today,

:56:18.:56:21.

that he wouldn't face if his normal day job, if you like. Well, I mean,

:56:22.:56:26.

the big example for me is his backhand, in singles he can hit that

:56:27.:56:29.

crosscourt and slice, you know because he has the whole court. And

:56:30.:56:33.

it is difficult to guilt at it in double, they are coming at him.

:56:34.:56:37.

They, he knows he has to make a good return of serve and they are

:56:38.:56:40.

volleying it back and he has to hit a passing shot. He has been out of

:56:41.:56:44.

his normal game plan, and that is manager he is not used to. That is

:56:45.:56:47.

what the Brits are targeting right now. He is not used to coming to the

:56:48.:56:53.

net as much, and he is mixing up, staying back, it's a totally

:56:54.:56:55.

different game. He finally made one, but for Diop,

:56:56.:57:10.

serving is and stay back, when you have to got two volleyers like Andy

:57:11.:57:17.

Murray and Jamie Murray, I can't see how you will hold your serve.

:57:18.:57:22.

Occasionally you will, the odds are against you, if they can find Del

:57:23.:57:28.

Potro's backhand. Are you surprised he is playing on the backhand? Well,

:57:29.:57:31.

a... A little bit. If he can keep a high percentage of

:57:32.:58:02.

first serves in, he gives a chance to mix it up and fake, sometimes go,

:58:03.:58:09.

sometimes stay. Serve like that you can stay back where ever you want.

:58:10.:58:40.

Very solid hold from Del Potro, who I am sure most of you watching know

:58:41.:58:45.

more than enough about but you might not know much about his partner,

:58:46.:58:49.

Mayer. All you need to know about him is if you think that was a long

:58:50.:58:54.

match yesterday, between Murray and Del Potro, they barely started

:58:55.:59:00.

because Mayer holds the record jointly with Souza of the longest

:59:01.:59:04.

singles match in the history of the Davis Cup, last year and it took six

:59:05.:59:09.

hours and 43 minutes. And it was after that match they changed the

:59:10.:59:13.

rules of the Davis Cup, so we don't have a tie-break or we do have

:59:14.:59:18.

rather a tie-break in the fifth set. That is the man in the forehand

:59:19.:59:21.

corner here. That was Jamie Murray there, when he

:59:22.:59:57.

hit that half-volley. Went to the wrong place on the court there,

:59:58.:00:02.

right to Del Potro's forehand. This one here, that is the wrong place to

:00:03.:00:07.

hit that one to. He did well to reflex that back. The Brits have

:00:08.:00:11.

changed rotation on the serve. Andy Murray is serving first in this set

:00:12.:00:15.

because they want to keep the same ends, not that there is any

:00:16.:00:19.

difference with the wind or anything!

:00:20.:00:30.

If Del Potro's backhand in doubles is going to be perhaps the Achilles

:00:31.:00:37.

heel, would it have been more vulnerable on the right-hand side of

:00:38.:00:40.

the court or the left-hand side? Left-hand side. So perhaps

:00:41.:00:54.

surprising that he is playing. Yes. Trouble is against Jamie Murray, it

:00:55.:00:59.

is very difficult for him to hit the forehand, the swerve of the serve is

:01:00.:01:03.

taken out to his backhand side. Even on a second serve it is not easy for

:01:04.:01:11.

him to run round.s. 131mph. That was a statement of

:01:12.:01:16.

intent. That was an excellent second serve.

:01:17.:02:39.

99mph. The first slight opening that the Argentinian team have had. That

:02:40.:02:44.

was big. And that was after he just served a double fault, as well. I

:02:45.:02:49.

must say, a sensational catch by our main floor manager Chris down in the

:02:50.:02:53.

slips. Brilliant! One-handed above his head.

:02:54.:03:07.

A bit of a sloppy game here. Would do well to get out of this game.

:03:08.:04:00.

This is where not surprising to see Jamie Murray crossing on this one.

:04:01.:04:04.

Help his brother out a bit. He has just lost his rhythm on his serve. A

:04:05.:04:12.

couple of doubles. Easy volley. Del Potro may be thinking the same thing

:04:13.:04:16.

here. Whether I should hit this one down the line. These are all

:04:17.:04:22.

thoughts that go through your mind here.

:04:23.:04:25.

He has a second serve to go at. This is dangerous.

:04:26.:04:49.

A loose game, if you were being critical. Yeah, it was. That's the

:04:50.:04:56.

first break of serve in this second set. First set is done and dusted.

:04:57.:05:02.

It's just one one in the bag. You start from scratch again. Here are

:05:03.:05:08.

the Argentinians in control early on in this second set.

:05:09.:05:12.

No need to panic, though. You do feel like there is a lot of breaks

:05:13.:05:20.

on this court with this doubles pairing from the Argentinians. The

:05:21.:05:22.

court is not that fast. The Brits will get a chance to break in this

:05:23.:05:26.

set. It was a very long conversation

:05:27.:06:32.

before that serve was hit but that clearly was, I am going to hit it on

:06:33.:06:38.

the backhand side, you cross, you hit the winner away and that's

:06:39.:06:46.

exactly what happened. If you are wondering, we do have time

:06:47.:06:51.

violations in Davis Cup, as well. You can't just talk, but obviously

:06:52.:06:54.

as the tension mounts the conversations do get longer.

:06:55.:07:55.

UMPIRE: Argentina challenging the call. I am not sure it was Mayer

:07:56.:08:00.

that challenged that, it was del Potro from the other side of the

:08:01.:08:04.

court thought it had gone wide. He was right.

:08:05.:08:14.

That's a long way out. Off a slow ball, as well.

:08:15.:08:36.

The first set everything that the Murrays touched turned to gold, but

:08:37.:08:43.

it's King Midas in reverse at the moment. 3-0 to the Argentinians.

:08:44.:08:48.

There has been a palpable shift in momentum, and a change in the body

:08:49.:08:52.

language as the players, Jamie Murray is not so energised as at the

:08:53.:08:59.

start. And the umpire is having a word with the Argentinians about

:09:00.:09:03.

what, would you suspect? Well, it wouldn't surprise me if it's on

:09:04.:09:07.

time. You mentioned that. Before you said that I was thinking they're

:09:08.:09:12.

taking - getting very close to... I think he is winding his hand up

:09:13.:09:15.

there saying you have to have a shift on when having conversations.

:09:16.:09:18.

If that's true that's good umpiring. It's good to give them a warning and

:09:19.:09:23.

once it happens, rather than this sort of random where they sometimes

:09:24.:09:27.

call it out in the middle of a vital point without a warning. Yeah,

:09:28.:09:33.

ridiculous sometimes. If that's what it was, which I think it was, it's

:09:34.:09:38.

just putting something in their mind to know that next time...

:09:39.:09:44.

One sloppy game from Andy Murray there. Mentally went off a bit. It

:09:45.:09:48.

can happen. It's a five-set match. They've got to now, Jamie Murray has

:09:49.:09:53.

to do the captain's job so to speak on the court here really. Play a

:09:54.:09:56.

good service game here, they can still break back. It's a long way to

:09:57.:10:00.

go. No messing around from Andy Murray.

:10:01.:10:34.

I will happy hit it at you! And not miss. Such a shrewd volley there

:10:35.:10:43.

from Jamie Murray, that short ball knowing that del Potro is not the

:10:44.:10:46.

quickest to get up there. He is going to have to hit the ball up in

:10:47.:10:49.

the air, which he did. I think that was in.

:10:50.:11:04.

Yeah, it was a little revenge! He went up to hit that forehand there

:11:05.:11:10.

was only place that was going, straight at Andy! This was party

:11:11.:11:15.

central at 2.00 and at the end of the first set. But there is real

:11:16.:11:17.

tension now in the Emirates Arena. That almost took Andy Murray's head

:11:18.:11:33.

off although he was getting out of the way of it.

:11:34.:11:42.

Just an absolutely brilliant volley. You heard Andy Murray say well

:11:43.:12:18.

played. Not many players would have the imagination to hit that volley,

:12:19.:12:23.

let alone the technique. Again targeting the speed and the size of

:12:24.:12:29.

del Potro knowing that he can't get to it to hit at it, he can only push

:12:30.:12:38.

the ball up. And that's when the Brits take charge of the rally.

:12:39.:12:59.

Ha! So close to the net. Del Potro's inquirying whether he

:13:00.:13:13.

touched the net or not. They're both smiling about it, I

:13:14.:13:22.

think. One or two boos from the crowd, but I don't think Jamie

:13:23.:13:31.

Murray touched the net. Got a bit agitated there. Yeah. He might have

:13:32.:13:47.

done, you know. Very close. That was serious show-boating by Jamie, mind

:13:48.:13:53.

you. We needed the goal-line technology that they have in

:13:54.:13:59.

football. Super hawk eye. I think he did touch the net, it doesn't matter

:14:00.:14:02.

anyway. Thank heavens no one was watching!

:14:03.:14:21.

That's why he got... Ha! If a player does that to the referee at Ibrox

:14:22.:14:34.

down the road this afternoon, they're off! He is not happy.

:14:35.:15:23.

Well played by Andy. The ball dipping down at del Potro.

:15:24.:15:39.

That's the man yesterday the camera couldn't take their eyes off, he was

:15:40.:15:45.

wearing the Argentine shirt yesterday. Not sure what that one is

:15:46.:15:48.

today. Backhand from Jamie Errant and it's

:15:49.:16:04.

4-1. They didn't know where they were as

:16:05.:16:25.

a team and were all over the place. Unfortunately that one sloppy game

:16:26.:16:29.

from Andy Murray that just let them in and they're up 4-1. I don't think

:16:30.:16:34.

it's all of a sudden they're playing amazingly well, I think it's just

:16:35.:16:37.

that one sloppy game. In men's doubles, you know, one break can be

:16:38.:16:46.

enough to win the set. Ha! He is still... I don't think we have a

:16:47.:16:51.

definitive answer for him either, whether Jamie hit the net or not.

:16:52.:16:56.

But the bottom line is you are 4-1 up, get over it! I would be careful

:16:57.:17:01.

about pulling the umpire's tie from now on, as well! He is a big man,

:17:02.:17:09.

del Potro. The poor old umpire will fall out of the chair. The debate is

:17:10.:17:13.

still going on. Who would be an umpire! I don't

:17:14.:17:27.

know. But the umpires must love Davis Cup ties like this. Compared

:17:28.:17:32.

to the run of the mill, a first round match in some tournament.

:17:33.:17:35.

Whatever it might be, in front of a half empty stadium. This is what

:17:36.:17:40.

it's about. Yeah. There is a man who controls things, the Speaker of the

:17:41.:17:43.

House of Commons. He deals with a real Rabble every Wednesday.

:17:44.:18:00.

Mayer is playing much better now. Yeah.

:18:01.:18:35.

After his last service game, Andy is going to want to get back into a

:18:36.:18:46.

more positive groove here. Oh, that's brilliant from Jamie.

:18:47.:18:49.

Instinctive, but fantastic reactions.

:18:50.:18:58.

I think this was actually going out, but no matter from that high, to hit

:18:59.:19:08.

that angle, that is just - he manoeuvred the racquet head that

:19:09.:19:09.

way. Soft hands, as well. Amazing.

:19:10.:19:23.

Certainly the cameraman on those sides are always in danger when

:19:24.:19:29.

Jamie Murray is around, because the angles go right at them every time.

:19:30.:19:56.

That was almost... Well, it was like a practice drill. How many volleys

:19:57.:20:02.

can we hit here with keeping the ball up in the air? Don't know what

:20:03.:20:04.

was going on there. That volley was too. Very strange.

:20:05.:20:30.

Not sure if he was trying to hit a drop volley on that one. It ended up

:20:31.:20:37.

mid-court, just almost giving the point away. Very strange couple of

:20:38.:20:43.

volleys in a row. This mental lapse coming in here. The fatigue, you

:20:44.:20:52.

know, it's not focussing. Let's see if Jamie can help him out a bit

:20:53.:20:56.

here. Well played again, Jamie!

:20:57.:21:17.

That was a real, he ain't heavy, he's my brother moment.

:21:18.:21:59.

The crowd sense it, as well. They know Andy is struggling a bit.

:22:00.:22:23.

A bit ragged but that was an important hold. Good volleys from

:22:24.:22:38.

Jamie in a row there. All these long conversations, on both sides of the

:22:39.:22:43.

net, who decides? Is it the server who has the final call? It is, but

:22:44.:22:48.

there is a captain on the team. Buono from the Argentine bench,

:22:49.:23:30.

good-good. Thought Andy's lob had got them back into the rally, but

:23:31.:23:34.

then it drifted away. We spoke about that at the last

:23:35.:23:46.

service game. There was a long conversation with the umpire and the

:23:47.:23:51.

Argentine captain. There is the first time violation against the

:23:52.:23:56.

Argentine pair. It was odd, actually, because that

:23:57.:23:59.

was shorter than the conversation they had before. Yeah. Maybe it

:24:00.:24:11.

unnerved del Potro, as well. Or if not unnerved, annoyed.

:24:12.:24:41.

It's had the desired effect because they're certainly get ago shift on

:24:42.:24:47.

now between points. -- get ago shift on now between points.

:24:48.:24:52.

-- getting a shift on now between points. A great return from Andy.

:24:53.:24:57.

The put away from Jamie. Wonder how much court Jamie Murray

:24:58.:25:10.

covered there. He sees it, makes his move and moves diagonally into the

:25:11.:25:16.

net there to get that ball early, rather than wait for it to dip.

:25:17.:25:29.

Takes it at its highest peak. That's a great shot.

:25:30.:25:36.

He saw that like a football. Look at that.

:25:37.:26:02.

Mayer is on fire. He's certainly gone up a level, no doubt about

:26:03.:26:09.

that. But, you know, going back to that break of serve at the early

:26:10.:26:12.

part of the second set, at that stage still the British team were on

:26:13.:26:17.

this sort of high. And they were in total domination. The Argentinian

:26:18.:26:21.

team didn't want to be on the court, they were getting rushed out of the

:26:22.:26:24.

game. That break that Andy, obviously didn't mean to, but the

:26:25.:26:30.

two doubles and easy volley, got them back into a belief factor which

:26:31.:26:34.

they didn't look like earning their way to it. Now their level's gone up

:26:35.:26:40.

now. Mayer now believes they can win this match. And is hitting these

:26:41.:26:43.

type of shots, certainly in the first set they were nowhere to be

:26:44.:26:47.

seen. That can happen. Doubles can change very quickly in momentum.

:26:48.:26:52.

Tennis is one of the great momentum games. Of course. You can be on the

:26:53.:26:58.

cusp of victory but just a lapse of concentration and it can suddenly be

:26:59.:27:05.

as far away as the proverbial pub in the desert. Absolutely. 5-2 always

:27:06.:27:12.

looks worse than it is if you are about to serve. So, as the Saltires

:27:13.:27:19.

are raised in front of us, Jamie Murray can hold here and then the

:27:20.:27:23.

pressure is on del Potro to serve out to make it one-set all.

:27:24.:27:30.

We have been playing just about an hour and as you would expect it's

:27:31.:27:34.

been riveting stuff. Andy Murray not happy about a

:27:35.:29:03.

cameraman in the far terracing, that was what he was complaining about

:29:04.:29:04.

there. And they have moved. Oh! That's the hardest forehand we

:29:05.:29:23.

have seen today, maybe even from yesterday. That was the pick-up to

:29:24.:29:29.

end all pick-ups. But that was hit with venom. Real menace. Goodness

:29:30.:29:45.

me! Del Potro getting an admiring glance there.

:29:46.:30:25.

Andy is always quick to encourage his brother and he was doing that

:30:26.:30:29.

there. Certainly returning better Del

:30:30.:31:41.

Potro. He is not hitting the two handed backhands that hard but he is

:31:42.:31:45.

leaning into it. He is directing it well. There is not that much pace,

:31:46.:31:51.

if you can hit them that low, it is not easy. He is hitting it on the

:31:52.:31:55.

rise an not giving them much chance to get into to hit that first

:31:56.:31:57.

volley. You made the point on the previous

:31:58.:33:07.

serve to that backhand, that he is certainly in the zone now, he is

:33:08.:33:16.

seeing it really really well. Of course the devastation that forehand

:33:17.:33:19.

caused yesterday, the instinct is not to serve there. Of course.

:33:20.:33:44.

This court speed, it is medium sort of slow if anything, and if you can

:33:45.:33:53.

get the first serve, you have a good return, it really sits.

:33:54.:34:00.

The first set was all Great Britain, and the second set going all the way

:34:01.:34:11.

of Argentina. Andy is not giving it up yet.

:34:12.:34:54.

It has been a real curates egg of a set for Andy Murray, the net result

:34:55.:35:01.

of which, is for the second time Jamie Murray now serving to stop

:35:02.:35:04.

this match going one set apiece. That is extraordinary on so many

:35:05.:36:32.

levels in terms of ball away, space awareness. A couple of shots from

:36:33.:36:36.

Jamie Murray but well done Del Potro. He moves well for a big man,

:36:37.:36:41.

you think he is not going to get to it. He sticks out that long arm and

:36:42.:36:43.

gets it back in to play. A rather strangulated desperate

:36:44.:37:28.

shout of come on Jamie. And sure enough he does. So Great Britain

:37:29.:37:35.

survive in this second set. You feel like Andy Murray crisis

:37:36.:37:51.

point, he is not going to miss a return in this game. She going to

:37:52.:37:58.

get every ball back. A fist pinch from -- punch from the two brothers

:37:59.:38:07.

in front of us. Now or never as far as it can second

:38:08.:38:10.

set is concerned. First double fault from the

:38:11.:39:08.

Argentine side. Of course it was the two double faults in the same game

:39:09.:39:13.

from Andy Murray, that precipitated this situation in the second set.

:39:14.:39:33.

First double fault from the Argentine side. Of course it was the

:39:34.:39:40.

two double faults in the same game from Andy Murray, that precipitated

:39:41.:39:42.

this situation in the second set. Get out of the way! And the older

:39:43.:39:45.

brother "I'm having that one." They worked really well at the start of

:39:46.:39:46.

the match. A very good cross, you have to hand

:39:47.:40:16.

it to them, 15-30, he knows that Del Potro is staying back, took the

:40:17.:40:20.

chance, going up against the Murray backhand return. Excellent cross.

:40:21.:40:29.

That return would have been deep into the corner.

:40:30.:41:10.

And so after nearly an hour and a quarter, a point for Argentina, to

:41:11.:41:17.

square things up at one set all. Good enough from Del Potro. A

:41:18.:41:49.

glimmer of hope for Great Britain at 15-30. We are all tied up at one set

:41:50.:42:00.

all. Argentines back in this match and two sets away now from winning

:42:01.:42:05.

the tie, so all to play for ball to play for in Croatia, against France

:42:06.:42:10.

where it was one all overnight. In the doubles Cilic has come into

:42:11.:42:17.

partner Dodig, they are taking on the much fancied Mahut. The

:42:18.:42:30.

Croatians are 8-6. There are the group play off, Svitolina are 2-1 up

:42:31.:42:34.

after winning the doubles in straight sets. Australia have

:42:35.:42:39.

completed their win against Slovakia, 3-0. Belgium are two up

:42:40.:42:49.

against Brazil. Canada two up against Chile. Rush have a busy tie

:42:50.:42:53.

against Kazakhstan, there was no play yesterday because of bad

:42:54.:42:58.

weather, two singles at a doubles match. Russia have won the opening

:42:59.:43:09.

one. Spain are 2-0 up. Nadal has come in for the doubles alongside

:43:10.:43:15.

Mark Lopez. They are a set point down their points so they are

:43:16.:43:19.

serving is at 5-4 to put India back in it. Germany 2-0 up and Japan

:43:20.:43:24.

completed their win Jens against Ukraine. That is what what is

:43:25.:43:29.

happening for those who are stiegting to say in the world group.

:43:30.:43:34.

So the players are back on court, so let us rejoin this one, one set all,

:43:35.:43:45.

all to play for. A quick word, you mention about the

:43:46.:43:49.

majority of people in the stadium at the Emirates and the overwhelming

:43:50.:43:54.

majority of people watching at home, the tennis they play is double, the

:43:55.:43:58.

one of the great things is intercepting at the time net. One of

:43:59.:44:03.

the key moments in that set was Mayer, going across. In the third

:44:04.:44:08.

play from the end there. Now, what point in the build up to that, do

:44:09.:44:13.

you think he had made the call? Well, they would have talked over

:44:14.:44:17.

beforehand, said if you get your first serve in and you go in this

:44:18.:44:21.

position I am going no matter what, the second serve, they would have

:44:22.:44:24.

gone back and talked about it again n the old days we didn't do that, it

:44:25.:44:30.

was on instinct. Now almost every time the points are planned. They

:44:31.:44:33.

talk about it beforehand and each player knows what the other is going

:44:34.:44:37.

to do before they hit it. It is a different way of playing. We are

:44:38.:44:42.

starting all over again in much the same we as we did yesterday when

:44:43.:44:46.

Andy and Del Potro were on opposite sides of the net again. It has gone

:44:47.:44:50.

from the best of five to the best of three.

:44:51.:45:42.

You will have noticed that the British team have decided to change

:45:43.:45:47.

ends when it comes to serving. Or maybe they have decided that

:45:48.:45:57.

Jamie Murray had to serve first, whatever I think that is what it

:45:58.:46:01.

was. He served first in the first set and they won, so Andy served

:46:02.:46:03.

first in the second, they lost it. Or maybe they have decided that

:46:04.:46:38.

Jamie or maybe they have decided that

:46:39.:46:40.

Jamie You heard Andy Murray saying "I'm

:46:41.:46:44.

going, yes I am." Let's see what happened.

:46:45.:46:49.

I think he may have said I am going here, he had the sign at back.

:46:50.:46:52.

Interesting the microphone that picked that up is the umpire's

:46:53.:47:02.

microphone. Exactly. Bluff counter bluff, triple bluff. A game of

:47:03.:47:04.

poker! And finally somebody has been hit.

:47:05.:47:34.

Exciting stuff from the British due you at the -- duo at the start of

:47:35.:47:39.

this first set. -- third set.

:47:40.:47:57.

Long discussion taking place between the Murray brothers down at our end

:47:58.:48:07.

here. Mayer has changed his racket.

:48:08.:48:19.

There is only so much you can say when you are about to receive serve,

:48:20.:48:27.

isn't there? Only if, you know, if I make this return you go. You can

:48:28.:48:31.

cover basically it. Can't afford to miss shots like

:48:32.:48:48.

that. He has been playing so well. Yes.

:48:49.:49:10.

Oh, terrible volley there. Two poor points in a row. Swung too quickly

:49:11.:49:22.

on that volley. An easy volley. This one here just completely

:49:23.:49:26.

mis-hit it. He hit the ball behind him, then he was in big trouble. You

:49:27.:49:30.

could say it was Jamie Murray that won the first set and Mayer that won

:49:31.:49:32.

the second. And Jamie will be disappointed by

:49:33.:49:47.

that, from love 30, that was an opportunity to... His forehand

:49:48.:49:50.

return, because he blocks it, he doesn't have the confidence to come

:49:51.:49:54.

over the ball, he either lobs or he normally hits that early and comes

:49:55.:49:58.

in behind it. That one he got it too late. Then he is in big trouble.

:49:59.:50:19.

Del Potro has been serving a lot of balls to the Andy Murray foreand in

:50:20.:50:33.

this doubles. Mayer will be hugely relieved he saw that one all right.

:50:34.:50:41.

Dan vane, stocking up for tomorrow. -- Dan Evans.

:50:42.:50:59.

This is just what you want, a break opportunity. It is Del Potro against

:51:00.:51:11.

Andy Murray. It is that forehand again.

:51:12.:51:24.

Missing very few. And you would hear that Andy had a few words to say to

:51:25.:51:31.

himself after missing that. Oh, Jamie Murray that is

:51:32.:51:56.

sensational. A lot of these engagements at the net, the

:51:57.:51:59.

Argentine seem to go at Jamie Murray, and particularly the way

:52:00.:52:02.

they have been playing you would think they would focus more on Andy

:52:03.:52:06.

Murray, because Jamie at the net is sensational.

:52:07.:52:11.

You can see how far back Andy is there, not sure why hay are not

:52:12.:52:19.

going at him more. That is the first time Del Potro

:52:20.:52:24.

swerved to Murray's backhand in an eternity.

:52:25.:52:34.

Very very early stages of this third set, this feels like a very

:52:35.:52:36.

important game. Where do you reckon Del Potro goes

:52:37.:53:09.

now? He will go back to the forehand.

:53:10.:53:23.

Into the body. That is always a third option? Exactly!

:53:24.:53:35.

What a cross. What a cross that was. Mayer was shaky at the start of that

:53:36.:53:45.

game, but that was so decisive. I am not sure if Andy left this. I

:53:46.:56:06.

think he did. It wouldn't have been an easy volley

:56:07.:56:08.

but he could have got it. I am sure for one agonising moment

:56:09.:56:33.

Jamie thought that was going to land on the net and it developed like a

:56:34.:56:36.

stone on his side. There is is a good shot as well.

:56:37.:56:42.

Kyle Edmund and Dan Evans in the foreground, looking on as their

:56:43.:56:44.

team-mates battle it out. Important hold. Another great volley

:56:45.:57:19.

from Jamie Murray. You are right, it was a crucial game

:57:20.:57:39.

there, and to me, before, Andy Murray looks to, he just looks jaded

:57:40.:57:44.

out here, it is a fight for him. Del Potro, he looks fresh as a daisy. I

:57:45.:57:52.

am sure he is not after yesterday's marathon, the but the way he... Andy

:57:53.:57:57.

looks like, this is a real fight, just to give that extra bit going,

:57:58.:58:01.

he looks a bit slow on the return of serve, not reacting adds quick as

:58:02.:58:05.

normle. This is a battle for him and this is where Jamie, he has played

:58:06.:58:11.

so well, and has to keep up this level, because this is not an easy

:58:12.:58:15.

easy match, we thought it was going to be the way they started off. Not

:58:16.:58:20.

now, the serves are sitting up. The Argentinians are get a lot of good

:58:21.:58:25.

returns. Del Potro looks more comfortable. Mayer has improved

:58:26.:58:28.

since the begin of the first set where he was nervous and this is a

:58:29.:58:40.

tough match now. Andy Murray walks back, and Jamie Murray bounds back.

:58:41.:58:48.

And we said it at the start but he has to be the captain of this team

:58:49.:58:50.

today. Somebody has brought us a boxes of

:58:51.:59:28.

energy bar, does that mean they think it is going to be a long one?

:59:29.:59:47.

That is the first shout of come on. Exactly. From Andy in this match. It

:59:48.:59:59.

is almost as much to show to his opponent, just as much as to

:00:00.:00:00.

himself. He would have loved that one to have

:00:01.:00:17.

clipped the back of the line. Two top-class returns from Andy

:00:18.:01:03.

Murray. Yeah, that's what we really haven't seen today. Those type of

:01:04.:01:10.

returns. Andy Murray gets in a groove, you feel like he is never

:01:11.:01:16.

going to miss. Two break points and it's a while since Great Britain

:01:17.:01:22.

have seen any of those. So what can they do?

:01:23.:02:02.

That's just excellent serving there from Mayer. Some big serves and then

:02:03.:03:40.

that last one changed the pace, altered the spin. Andy Murray there

:03:41.:03:45.

hit the ball too early, ready for the power serve. Excellent serving.

:03:46.:03:50.

That was a big hold for the Argentinians. An opportunity perhaps

:03:51.:03:56.

missed by Great Britain. But we are still on serve. Early stages of this

:03:57.:04:00.

third set. That's just what you don't want at

:04:01.:04:08.

the net. The noise is coming from the

:04:09.:04:20.

Argentinian fans. They're sensing this is a crucial

:04:21.:04:33.

stage of this match. Had a long time to think about this.

:04:34.:05:01.

That was beautifully executed. Such an improved part of his game,

:05:02.:05:40.

the second serve. That was 102 there. I remember a couple of years

:05:41.:05:46.

ago those second serves would be in the low 80s at times and would sit

:05:47.:05:48.

up. That one had a lot of pace. And that increase in the speed on

:05:49.:06:11.

Murray's serve, is that just the speed of the racquet arm? It's a

:06:12.:06:15.

combination. One of the things he has done is lored the ball toss, so

:06:16.:06:20.

he is hitting it more on the drop. Used to be a much higher ball toss.

:06:21.:06:32.

But he is going for it more now. Emphatic enough from Andy at the

:06:33.:06:35.

net, as well. As long as they keep serving first

:06:36.:06:48.

and keep holding serve, they keep edging ahead. Great theatre. You

:06:49.:06:53.

think about the Davis Cup ties over the last couple of years, as Great

:06:54.:06:57.

Britain have grown, last year champions and this year to defend

:06:58.:07:01.

the title, these Saturday games have been pivotal in determining the ties

:07:02.:07:05.

and invariably Great Britain, more often than not with the Murray

:07:06.:07:09.

brothers playing, have won them which has taken them on to victory

:07:10.:07:15.

in the tie and ultimately last year to winning the trophy. When you look

:07:16.:07:20.

back at that match in Coventry only three years ago, Great Britain 2-0

:07:21.:07:26.

down to Russia and I am sure everybody thinking that's it, game

:07:27.:07:34.

over. They started what was a very unlikely comeback and actually it

:07:35.:07:38.

was in many ways kick-started the three glorious years of Davis Cup

:07:39.:07:43.

campaigns. The key thing 2-0 down and it's only happened - how many

:07:44.:07:47.

times? Ten times in 35 years, which is not a lot. No. Once every

:07:48.:07:52.

three-and-a-half years, and it has happened once this year already with

:07:53.:07:56.

Croatia against the USA. But while you are in it, you are still in it.

:07:57.:08:02.

They have to do it like that. Yeah, absolutely.

:08:03.:08:40.

Not sure why he went for that shot. Jamie Murray was on his way to net

:08:41.:09:23.

there. Andy had hit that solidly, come in against del Potro. You would

:09:24.:09:27.

have thought they would have been the favourite in that rally, it was

:09:28.:09:30.

a strange shot selection there. Communication wasn't good there.

:09:31.:09:54.

Andy moved to cross and then pulled back at the last minute. That one

:09:55.:10:00.

there. And Jamie really was sort of unsighted, really couldn't do much

:10:01.:10:05.

with the ball and ended up losing the rally.

:10:06.:11:00.

That's a case there of making somebody play the extra ball,

:11:01.:11:07.

because you never know what might happen. How quick were his reactions

:11:08.:11:13.

here? First one was a great body shot. Most people would have been

:11:14.:11:15.

heading for the hills on that one and turning their back and running

:11:16.:11:21.

but he stood his ground there. Great reflex volley.

:11:22.:11:36.

Leon Smith just said, come on, Andy, now. Which I suppose is dictated to

:11:37.:11:47.

by what del Potro does with his serve.

:11:48.:12:00.

It was a good enough return but Del Potro not looking like a player who

:12:01.:12:06.

is unfamiliar with doubles now. No, he is playing very well. An example

:12:07.:12:10.

there, he doesn't hit it that hard at the moment, still worried about

:12:11.:12:15.

that wrist, but he is accurate with it. He finds angles and finds lines

:12:16.:12:21.

when he needs to. If you are watching this afternoon and don't

:12:22.:12:26.

know much about del Potro, the US Open champion seven years ago, a

:12:27.:12:30.

succession of wrist injuries and fighting his way back now you

:12:31.:12:33.

suspect to the top of the game. Second serve is getting attacked.

:12:34.:14:05.

91mph, not terrible, but just seemed to sit. Mayer is really getting a

:14:06.:14:16.

good piece of that serve. Today is way more a test of Andy Murray's

:14:17.:14:22.

willpower than his tennis ability. Yeah.

:14:23.:14:32.

Right into the hitting zone of the del Potro forehand, didn't like the

:14:33.:14:50.

look of that when that one came over but del Potro seemed to not move his

:14:51.:14:53.

feet enough there and got caught. Maybe thought he was going to blast

:14:54.:14:57.

it down the line. Needs a first serve now. This is

:14:58.:15:33.

where you have to really pull deep. Has had three first serves in the

:15:34.:15:37.

top of the net. Means he is not reaching up high enough. Has to pull

:15:38.:15:43.

from the stomach and really exert yourself. Reach up on this serve.

:15:44.:15:46.

Keep that left shoulder up. UMPIRE: Let. First service. Great

:15:47.:16:00.

Britain have had a break opportunity in this set and haven't taken them.

:16:01.:16:05.

This is a huge chance for arrange tinnia.

:16:06.:16:10.

-- Argentina. Well, doesn't matter where you hit

:16:11.:16:23.

it, off what part of the racquet, as long as it goes over. Andy Murray

:16:24.:16:27.

shaking his fist with real passion there, saying to the crowd, we

:16:28.:16:30.

actually need your help here. We need the net sometimes like that,

:16:31.:16:39.

but we need you too. The barmy Army have been a bit quiet the last quart

:16:40.:16:45.

-- quarter of an hour or so, outshouted by the Argentines, but

:16:46.:16:49.

pumping up the volume now. That was a poor forehand volley

:16:50.:17:08.

there. Really snatched at that one, didn't stay low.

:17:09.:17:23.

Second break opportunity for del Potro.

:17:24.:17:39.

And he's made it. Down the line. How key is that shot going to be in

:17:40.:17:52.

the context, not just of this match, but of the tie as a whole? Andy just

:17:53.:18:00.

smacked his racquet there. He is very frustrated. Just guided that

:18:01.:18:06.

backhand down the line but he anticipated that Jamie was going to

:18:07.:18:12.

cross. And just did enough. Steely eyes and real concentration on the

:18:13.:18:17.

face of del Potro there. His expression never changes. He is a

:18:18.:18:23.

bit like Bjorg used to be. He had the same expression, you could never

:18:24.:18:25.

tell whether he was winning or losing. It's unnerving really. In

:18:26.:18:30.

pressure situations he gives the same look. It is one of those things

:18:31.:18:33.

that we will never know the answer to. If he hadn't had such a

:18:34.:18:38.

succession of injuries, I wonder how many Grand Slams he would have won

:18:39.:18:42.

by now? Five, six? Definitely he would have won a few. No way he

:18:43.:18:49.

wouldn't have done. When he won the US Open in 2009 he had beaten Nadal

:18:50.:18:54.

and Federer in successive matches when they were absolutely at their

:18:55.:19:07.

peak. He was only 19 too. He is playing like a man with real belief

:19:08.:19:13.

now. You can see that from the performance against Murray in Rio in

:19:14.:19:17.

the final and Andy won in four, yesterday del Potro was a little bit

:19:18.:19:21.

more at home, at ease, self-belief and all that sort of stuff. Look at

:19:22.:19:25.

his demeanour on the court today. He is a man on a mission and he knows

:19:26.:19:35.

what he has to do. Dan Evans exorting the Murrays to great effort

:19:36.:19:42.

here. He may still have a huge role to play in this tie. Great Britain

:19:43.:19:49.

will take a few loose shots like that at the moment.

:19:50.:20:12.

That was not a good time for one of those.

:20:13.:21:07.

Mayer thought that was an ace but they're happy that it was just long.

:21:08.:21:28.

So is Jamie Murray. They were broken a few moments ago.

:21:29.:22:30.

Never a better time than to break back immediately. Not sure del Potro

:22:31.:22:35.

has hit a ball in this game yet. It's been all about Mayer. Hit or

:22:36.:22:39.

miss. What are we going to get here? Two more chances go begging for

:22:40.:23:57.

Great Britain. Jamie Murray throwing his racquet down in disgust at the

:23:58.:24:00.

end of that. Good reflex volley there from Andy

:24:01.:24:42.

Murray. Should have dipped the ball lower than that. This individual

:24:43.:24:45.

game has been all over the place in terms of the quality of the play

:24:46.:24:48.

from both sides of the net. The net result is it's a third break

:24:49.:24:51.

opportunity for Great Britain to get back to all-square.

:24:52.:25:13.

Andy Murray comes alive! Order, order!

:25:14.:25:36.

The sleeping giant awakens. And we're back to all-square. One

:25:37.:25:48.

set all, four games all. Two hours of play. Heaven alone knows what's

:25:49.:25:57.

coming up next! What Great Britain did not want next

:25:58.:26:14.

was a double fault. They held their ground well there. I

:26:15.:27:02.

thought when del Potro wound up with that forehand they were in big

:27:03.:27:08.

trouble, but good reflex there from Andy Murray.

:27:09.:27:31.

Extraordinary you can hear the whole conversation about who's going where

:27:32.:27:41.

when Jamie Murray is serving. Is that a double bluff, do you

:27:42.:27:46.

think? Because the Argentines must be able to hear that, because it's

:27:47.:27:50.

coming out on the umpire's microphone. You would think so.

:27:51.:28:19.

Well played Mayer there but great scrambling by the British pair too.

:28:20.:28:32.

Here we are right in the heart of this match. And potentially the

:28:33.:28:37.

whole tie, as well. 1-1, 4-4, 30-30. Fabulous. For my latest trick...

:28:38.:30:03.

Just a little lucky on that one. I am going to play a drop shot,

:30:04.:30:07.

turning my back on the ball, and allowing it to just nudge off the

:30:08.:30:11.

edge of my racket. Again, when that whined up came on

:30:12.:30:15.

the forehand you knew there was going to be trouble from Del Potro.

:30:16.:30:20.

This is about self preservation for Andy Murray. He turns to the side

:30:21.:30:28.

and he got his racket in the way. Ended up to be a beautiful drop

:30:29.:30:37.

volley. It is tense, you can feel the way

:30:38.:30:43.

that the tension has upped over the last 20 minutes or so. Break points

:30:44.:30:47.

opportunities here and there, the British were broken, then they break

:30:48.:30:51.

back, and the key thing there was to just nudge ahead again, because now,

:30:52.:30:57.

the Argentinians will come out and serve to stay in the set. And that

:30:58.:31:02.

is a very different position to what they were in, barely five minutes

:31:03.:31:03.

ago. Ago. Everyone the ultimate demonstration

:31:04.:31:37.

of calm, by Del Potro, even he might be feeling one or two little butter

:31:38.:31:42.

threes here. New balls though.

:31:43.:32:37.

I don't know what Del Potro was thinking there.

:32:38.:32:50.

He fed this right into the strength, the backhand volley of Jamie Murray.

:32:51.:33:08.

Huge intake of breath by 8,000 people as the ball hovered towards

:33:09.:33:27.

the baseline. Was it in, was it out? It was out. A big back swing on that

:33:28.:33:30.

volley. You can see from Andy jumping up and

:33:31.:34:08.

down there. He thought he was going to have that.

:34:09.:34:54.

What a rally that was, Excellent point. Good communication. Knowing

:34:55.:35:06.

their job, closing the gap at the net.

:35:07.:35:16.

So after a third set of real ebb and flow, it looked like the

:35:17.:35:24.

Argentinians were in control ten minutes ago. Now, a first set point.

:35:25.:35:30.

For Great Britain on the Del Potro serve.

:35:31.:35:45.

Made it! He saw it and he made it. And Great Britain take a two sets to

:35:46.:36:02.

one lead in this enthralling doubles, if Great Britain was to win

:36:03.:36:07.

it, it would keep the tie alive. Let us go down to court side. I am sure

:36:08.:36:16.

the atmosphere is absolutely phenomenal. Jamie Bake e what is it

:36:17.:36:26.

hike down there? It a tough day yesterday, what did we do to lift

:36:27.:36:31.

the team today. Disappointing, as I say, so me motions, and it was one

:36:32.:36:35.

of those tough gay days but today was a new day, we said, you know,

:36:36.:36:40.

zero, zero fresh start, let us take it to them. The end of that set went

:36:41.:36:48.

really well. From a break how did the boys manage to turn it round? I

:36:49.:36:52.

don't know, they obviously during the match there was momentum

:36:53.:36:56.

swimmings and you trying to figure out stuff, try to find patterns that

:36:57.:37:00.

work and they have owned some of that really quick, hopefully we keep

:37:01.:37:04.

it going to the fourth. Given the match yesterday and what could

:37:05.:37:07.

happen tomorrow, are you surprised that Del Potro is playing in this

:37:08.:37:12.

doubles? Yes, a bit. I thought maybe he would have liked to rest but at

:37:13.:37:17.

the same time it is similar to Andy, you know, they are competitors and

:37:18.:37:21.

they want to Maevery match they can, at the same time it is not

:37:22.:37:25.

surprising they want to get out on court and win. Thanks.

:37:26.:37:30.

Thoughts now? Well... When was the last boring Davis Cup doubles match

:37:31.:37:44.

on a Saturday featuring Great Britain? They are always just

:37:45.:37:50.

agonising, normally, exhilarating at the end from a British perspective

:37:51.:37:54.

but there is still a long want I to go here. Del Potro's Prime

:37:55.:37:57.

Minister's Questions has not changed. No. You wouldn't know if he

:37:58.:38:03.

was up two sets to one or down two sets to one. But he is down. Wfrnts

:38:04.:38:07.

We will have to tell him that. So we are stuck with Jamie Murray

:38:08.:38:15.

serving first again, in this set. So we are stuck with Jamie Murray

:38:16.:38:51.

serving first again, in this set. Don't want to tempt fate but Andy is

:38:52.:38:55.

playing better tan he was half an hour ago Yes, he has got that extra

:38:56.:39:00.

bit of life in him now, he looked a bit flat, now he is certainly not.

:39:01.:39:02.

He looks anything but that. Judy watched the whole match

:39:03.:41:39.

yesterday without demonstrating too much emotion but she right into this

:41:40.:41:41.

now. UMPIRE: First game fourth set. It is

:41:42.:42:42.

engrossing stuff, if you have been with us since the word go you won

:42:43.:42:46.

want to miss a single shot. Shot. In the next two or three minutes we

:42:47.:42:53.

will leave BBC One to go over to BBC Two, as Final Score will be on BBC

:42:54.:43:02.

One. You can sneak across to BBC Two with us and see the climax, it might

:43:03.:43:08.

not be the climax, it might be the next instalment, the climax could be

:43:09.:43:11.

hours away. But any way, you can follow the rest of this match on BBC

:43:12.:43:13.

Two for as long as it takes. SUE BARKER: At this point we welcome

:43:14.:44:10.

viewers on BBC as our coverage is on BBC Two. Andy and Jamie Murray have

:44:11.:44:14.

taken the third set to go two sets to one up. So final score is coming

:44:15.:44:20.

up. If you want to continue

:44:21.:44:21.
