Straight sets a game! Supreme performance at a first-class

:00:46.:00:58.

tournament, Andy Murray. What a match and a victory for Andy

:00:59.:01:04.

Murray. Was it really just five days ago that we were celebrating on

:01:05.:01:08.

Centre Court with Andy Murray? We will be talking all things Andy with

:01:09.:01:13.

Jamie and Andy in the build-up to the match. But Wimbledon has taken

:01:14.:01:18.

its toll and he is not competing in this tie as the British team

:01:19.:01:22.

continue their defence of the Davis Cup. So with no Murray, it is the

:01:23.:01:27.

time for the rest of the British team to step up.

:01:28.:01:29.

Good work at the net from Edmund. Oh, unrealistic smack fabulous move.

:01:30.:02:14.

-- the tie will be played at the Tasmajdan Stadium in Belgrade. Great

:02:15.:02:20.

Britain will be tested on the clay. I don't know what has happened about

:02:21.:02:26.

our sum of tennis. It rained at the French Open, at Queen, and at

:02:27.:02:30.

Wimbledon and it is raining in Belgrade as well. The forecast is

:02:31.:02:34.

for showers. The only good news is that it is playing on the plate so

:02:35.:02:40.

there will be no delays after the shallows have gone. Some British

:02:41.:02:43.

fans have travelled out to Belgrade to support the team and hopefully

:02:44.:02:48.

there will be tennis for them to watch. But not great news as far as

:02:49.:02:53.

tennis is concerned at the moment. But we will move on and tell you

:02:54.:02:54.

about the team. No Andy and no Novak Djokovic. Also

:02:55.:03:07.

Viktor Troicki elected to miss the tie. Tipsarevic is a top player but

:03:08.:03:14.

his ranking tumbled when surgery took him out for a few months. So

:03:15.:03:17.

this is how the weekend looks. The first match is it with James

:03:18.:03:30.

wore too often exceeds his expectations. So what has happened,

:03:31.:03:40.

with the weather, Jamie? It is not easy and the nerves are already

:03:41.:03:44.

jangling for Kyle and James. It's not good but at least it's on a clay

:03:45.:03:50.

court. At least it depends how heavy that brain is. If it is drizzle, you

:03:51.:03:56.

can play on. We saw that at the French Open. It has to rain pretty

:03:57.:04:00.

hard for them to stop. And once you have had a few days, you will play

:04:01.:04:06.

in pouring rain, just get this thing finished! We saw that at Wimbledon,

:04:07.:04:11.

people were happy to play a few points in the rain. Heavy conditions

:04:12.:04:15.

for Kyle Edmund in the absolutely crucial match, the first tennis we

:04:16.:04:21.

will see here. It could be the whole tie on this one. He can hit through

:04:22.:04:26.

no matter what happens. Being a French Open champion yourself, you

:04:27.:04:30.

will know all about clay. But in heavy conditions when the ball is

:04:31.:04:34.

fluffing up with dampness in the air, you need physical strength.

:04:35.:04:39.

Kyle has that. He has turned himself into a physical specimen. He needs

:04:40.:04:44.

to take a leadership role here. He almost be David Goffin in November.

:04:45.:04:51.

Now a real weight on the shoulders. Yes, pressure on him. Andy Murray

:04:52.:04:55.

not playing, but has travelled out here. A big supporter Kyle.

:04:56.:05:01.

Everybody was surprised, not that he was not playing, but that he came

:05:02.:05:05.

out here. It shows he wants to be part of the team. I am excited for

:05:06.:05:11.

Kyle. It is his chance to step up. Normally when Andy is playing, and

:05:12.:05:15.

all the attention is on him. Kyle can step up. Now -- with the

:05:16.:05:23.

enormity of everything that happened after the Wimbledon final, it's not

:05:24.:05:34.

surprising. I can't believe this. This was a magnificent sporting

:05:35.:05:37.

achievement. You don't have to argue with people about it. You can have a

:05:38.:05:44.

discussion about the most eminent British sports person when all is

:05:45.:05:49.

said and done. But at this time, there is nobody better than Andy

:05:50.:05:53.

Murray. And about this tribe, looking back on it, with a few doses

:05:54.:06:02.

sink in for us and for Kim! It was so predictable, and so likely after

:06:03.:06:06.

Novak Djokovic went out. For me, there was one winner of that

:06:07.:06:11.

tournament. Easy to say now. Federer did not quite have the firepower to

:06:12.:06:16.

come through a semifinal. Andy just did not look like losing. He just

:06:17.:06:21.

had winner written all over him. In fact, since round one at Queen 's as

:06:22.:06:27.

well. He has turned himself into a great champion. He will defend

:06:28.:06:31.

Olympic gold. A shame he is not playing but this is a good come -- a

:06:32.:06:37.

big come-down for him and he has to look after his body. Leon Smith did

:06:38.:06:42.

not think he would play and sure enough, he is not. I'm amazed he is

:06:43.:06:48.

there. It means so much to him, the Davis Cup. It's incredible that he

:06:49.:06:55.

would go to the Davis Cup match in survey to support the team when he

:06:56.:07:00.

has a new baby and everything. -- in Serbia. Andy has made his way to

:07:01.:07:08.

Belgrade by private jet and yesterday he was out on the practice

:07:09.:07:16.

court with his British team-mates. Obviously, I enjoy playing tennis, I

:07:17.:07:18.

enjoy practising and training so it was just, Bruce Lee, different, but

:07:19.:07:27.

-- obviously, different but I had done this a few times before. This

:07:28.:07:32.

is not the first time I have done that on a tennis court. Sell your

:07:33.:07:37.

role this week is as a supporter. You are an analyst of the way

:07:38.:07:41.

matches unfold. Will you be looking to throw advice to the players, or

:07:42.:07:47.

truly Leon as well? If anyone wants it, yeah. But I'm not here to start

:07:48.:07:54.

telling anybody what to do. If Leon wants to ask me about any of the

:07:55.:08:00.

players I have played against, or any of the players want to ask me, I

:08:01.:08:04.

will help and try to give advice that we have a great team which has

:08:05.:08:11.

won the Davis Cup before. The guys that you are helping me do a great

:08:12.:08:17.

job. I have had that advice from them over the last few years and

:08:18.:08:22.

they are fantastic. All of the tactics and staff going into matches

:08:23.:08:28.

are really good. Leon knows more about the players and I will but if

:08:29.:08:33.

any body wants to ask, I will try and help.

:08:34.:08:36.

I think they will be asking, don't you, Jamie?! I do. Amazing how

:08:37.:08:44.

humble years. First time he has been there not playing but if he has

:08:45.:08:49.

anything to say during a match, everybody will be like, what is

:08:50.:08:52.

that, can you pass some of your genius onto us, it will help! And

:08:53.:08:57.

all of them have said how his coaching and the way he reads the

:08:58.:09:00.

game has helped them in other matches. Andy dissects people. He

:09:01.:09:06.

will have a mental Rolodex of every single weakness and every strength

:09:07.:09:11.

and every moment of crisis and how every opponent reacts in that

:09:12.:09:16.

moment. Waiters served to them in a clay court or inside or outside.

:09:17.:09:22.

This guy is legitimately one of the greats of the game. And he is that

:09:23.:09:27.

the side. He has left home when rest is a priority, to support the team.

:09:28.:09:33.

Do you think they will want to hear what he has to say? Absolutely! This

:09:34.:09:39.

is why, at this point, he is such a major hazard to British tennis. And

:09:40.:09:44.

afterwards, he will be as well because he clearly loves being

:09:45.:09:48.

involved. I think it's fantastic. Imagine how the opposition feel,

:09:49.:09:52.

looking at it from the other point of view. He is a pain, he is a

:09:53.:09:57.

presence at the other side of the court. He will have to be big here

:09:58.:10:02.

because playing in Belgrade against Serbia, on clay, away from home,

:10:03.:10:06.

they go in as favourites. This is a big deal and Andy could be a few

:10:07.:10:12.

percentage difference and that could be all it could take. We don't know

:10:13.:10:17.

if Djokovic will make an appearance, but when he went out of Wimbledon,

:10:18.:10:22.

it was not a surprise that he did not play here. It's a massive

:10:23.:10:29.

statement from Andy. A big boost to the team. For Kyle and James on the

:10:30.:10:34.

court, to have him there, to give up his own time to be there, amazing.

:10:35.:10:39.

Also on the match front, there are two sides to it. He is one of the

:10:40.:10:44.

cleverest player on court. He figures out things and he is

:10:45.:10:47.

massively into watching lots of tennis and his match analysis, he

:10:48.:10:52.

goes through every single serve, where somebody is going to head. All

:10:53.:10:56.

of that information at the right time will come out during the

:10:57.:11:01.

singles matches. Whether or not the Brits can react to it is another

:11:02.:11:09.

thing, you don't want to disappoint Andy. Andy, I did have a backgammon

:11:10.:11:16.

-- backhand like yours, I can't hit it different ways. But it's

:11:17.:11:21.

wonderful that he is there. Not only does he train with them, but he

:11:22.:11:25.

follows them and they are playing in challenges, and he is always

:11:26.:11:33.

watching them. He is good news. We are hearing that the start has been

:11:34.:11:38.

delayed. We are not surprised. You can see that the brollies are up in

:11:39.:11:43.

Belgrade. It looks like even the Serbian Summa is not what it really

:11:44.:11:49.

should be. So a delay. They are assessing the court. They will wait

:11:50.:11:58.

until it stops. It will not paddle. We have all been out there with a

:11:59.:12:06.

mop... Remember those days? Yes, we all remember. Yes, just wait a few

:12:07.:12:13.

minutes. Nobody opening the time until there is a window opportunity.

:12:14.:12:18.

That man has taken his brolly down so there is some hope. How dab of

:12:19.:12:23.

the conditions? We talking about how heavy it will be. Does that help

:12:24.:12:28.

Kyle or not? The interesting thing is that earlier in the week it was

:12:29.:12:33.

45 degrees out there. We were talking about Kyle Edmund hoot

:12:34.:12:37.

cramped in the final, probably out of tension. The temperature is way

:12:38.:12:45.

cooler now. So it will be heavier. I don't think it will be the deciding

:12:46.:12:49.

factor. His match against Tipsarevic will be whether Kyle plays to his

:12:50.:12:58.

level. We don't know what Tipsarevic will do. He has not played much

:12:59.:13:06.

tennis, two years out. So we don't really know. It's a fascinating

:13:07.:13:09.

first match but there is a lot riding on it. He beat Dmitri Payet

:13:10.:13:16.

at Queen's Club. Although Griego's -- he beat David Troll -- he beat

:13:17.:13:28.

Grigor Dimitrov although his assent as man is not what it should be.

:13:29.:13:37.

He's a world-class player, injured. But you put these guys from the

:13:38.:13:41.

Balkans in their own backyard, and this crap 20% harder. Do you fancy a

:13:42.:13:48.

cup of tea and a sticky bun? I think we will be talking for a little

:13:49.:13:52.

while here this afternoon while we await the showers moving away from

:13:53.:13:57.

Belgrade. So no Andy Murray on court but the British captain is certainly

:13:58.:14:02.

happy about the team he has chosen. I'm not concerned at all. This is

:14:03.:14:07.

what it's all about. They have got to go out and give it everything.

:14:08.:14:12.

And the biggest thing that you say to them is that if they can go out

:14:13.:14:16.

and give 100% of their best effort from the first ball to the last is

:14:17.:14:20.

struck, you can walk of court with pride. Regardless of the outcome.

:14:21.:14:26.

That is what they have to focus on. To do their best with good focus and

:14:27.:14:31.

passion. They have support from the chair to talk about how the game is

:14:32.:14:35.

going. There will be ebbs and flows and ways to change the matches.

:14:36.:14:40.

Looking at Kyle, he lacks experience but he is very good on a clay court.

:14:41.:14:46.

His first experience of Davis Cup was the final against David Goffin.

:14:47.:14:51.

We know the level that he has got. Even the players we are playing now,

:14:52.:14:55.

we respect the opposition and four two said he was outstanding. Kyle is

:14:56.:15:01.

another six months on from there. -- and four two sets, he was

:15:02.:15:07.

outstanding. And the James Ward, what could you ask for. If you slip

:15:08.:15:13.

down the rankings and you have an opportunity to come into Davis Cup

:15:14.:15:17.

which he loves, put on your Great Britain shirt and get out there and

:15:18.:15:21.

give your best effort and have an upset. That would give him a big

:15:22.:15:26.

boost moving into the summer. He is very happy with his team but no Dan

:15:27.:15:32.

Evans who has a shoulder injury. With everything we saw from

:15:33.:15:36.

Wimbledon, and the fact that he plays well on clay, that would be

:15:37.:15:42.

more of a bonus if he was fit? Yes, Dan plays great on clay and he had a

:15:43.:15:47.

great run at Wimbledon. He is the obvious players you have played at

:15:48.:15:53.

number two behind Kyle. So disappointing, but don't forget that

:15:54.:15:56.

Dan played a lot of tennis in Asia before the French Open which led him

:15:57.:16:00.

to miss the clay-court season so he hasn't played on any clay this year.

:16:01.:16:04.

So maybe that has something to do with him not being in the right

:16:05.:16:08.

frame of mind to play on clay after the grass, we don't know? But we

:16:09.:16:14.

have to salute Leon Smith, what a record he has. He has the support of

:16:15.:16:20.

all the team, they really back him. He has had to make a few tough calls

:16:21.:16:25.

now and again. James Ward was one of the first guys that we saw up in

:16:26.:16:30.

Glasgow and he had not been selected for the semifinal and Dan had come

:16:31.:16:34.

in and James Dyke -- looked like he had seen a ghost. Now view selected

:16:35.:16:41.

again, James, and he must play under his captain. That is the captain's

:16:42.:16:48.

job, to make those decisions. When you have Andy Murray in the team and

:16:49.:16:51.

motivated and wants to be part of the setup, you are in with a chance.

:16:52.:16:56.

Without that, we are back to what we had in the past, trying to win the

:16:57.:17:00.

doubles and trying to sneak the singles. It is not easy. Away from

:17:01.:17:06.

home on clay, it was as rare as hen 's teeth to get a victory. It was

:17:07.:17:10.

difficult to go to these places and win. With Andy in the team, you know

:17:11.:17:18.

you will be two up. So big-time motivation required from Leon Smith,

:17:19.:17:22.

he has got to get the players playing for him. He has done a

:17:23.:17:26.

fantastic job. Some of it a great timing, some of it is great

:17:27.:17:30.

leadership, and some of its having a great player like Andy Murray to

:17:31.:17:34.

back you up. They showed great team spirit in the final last year in

:17:35.:17:40.

Belgium. Andy wanted to be a part of it. This is the ceremony which they

:17:41.:17:45.

did which was pretty special. Andy Murray!

:17:46.:17:50.

CHEERING. And these were wonderful scenes,

:17:51.:17:55.

where they? It's been a journey for the team. We came in over a few

:17:56.:18:04.

years. It was everybody coming in as one big team, whether you are the

:18:05.:18:09.

physio or whatever. Obviously you can't see any of that without the

:18:10.:18:14.

importance of candy -- Andy Murray coming into the team. A huge asset

:18:15.:18:19.

to any team. There is no doubt, you speak to any member of the team,

:18:20.:18:25.

they say that thing. It is not just like one person saying it or that

:18:26.:18:28.

the captain is towing the party line, I really think that it does

:18:29.:18:31.

filter down to the old team. And James Ward, lifting the trophy, the

:18:32.:18:37.

Winnie had against John Isner, that was key. And he was the only one who

:18:38.:18:45.

apart from Andy Murray Jamie Murray too big of a point then. That was

:18:46.:18:50.

crucial, in the first round. Without that victory, the Bryan brothers

:18:51.:19:01.

beat our doubles players. The doubles are still crucial. Without

:19:02.:19:04.

that victory from him, we wouldn't have won the day become. -- the

:19:05.:19:14.

Davis Cup. Looking back again in the whole atmosphere, the whole vibe in

:19:15.:19:17.

that area at that time was all about what had in Paris. So recently.

:19:18.:19:26.

There was a lot of jeopardy there, there was a sense of jeopardy.

:19:27.:19:30.

Everybody who was at the Arena had to make a decision based on facts

:19:31.:19:38.

and advice, including obviously the players' families and the players.

:19:39.:19:45.

There was a real sense of defiance being there. A lot of people decided

:19:46.:19:49.

not to go, that was to be respected as well. When I see the pictures,

:19:50.:19:53.

the intensity of emotion, not just the tennis, it was the whole thing

:19:54.:19:57.

around Belgium and the attacks in Paris as well. Fabulous memories

:19:58.:20:02.

that everybody came through and everybody celebrated. And there will

:20:03.:20:07.

be a minute's silence to remember those who lost their lives in Nice

:20:08.:20:13.

yesterday evening. We have been talking about James Ward -- we have

:20:14.:20:30.

been talking about James Murray... Janey Murray? James Ward! Now we can

:20:31.:20:38.

talk to James Ward. How did you feel about losing that

:20:39.:20:44.

lasts set to David Goffin? Is that under you can take from there? Yes,

:20:45.:20:48.

there's definitely something I can learn from that. You take that

:20:49.:20:53.

experience and put it into play next time around. I will have in mind,

:20:54.:20:59.

the noises, the experience, the feeling of playing for the team in

:21:00.:21:03.

the Davis Cup. It is different so that experience will do me good. You

:21:04.:21:10.

just move forward and now I have more experience and a lot more

:21:11.:21:15.

tournament matches and I am at a higher level. So all those things

:21:16.:21:19.

will really help me and put me in good stead. What difference will it

:21:20.:21:23.

mean to you and the team if you have Andy Murray sitting at the side of

:21:24.:21:27.

the court screaming and banging those advertising hoardings? I think

:21:28.:21:32.

as much support as we can get will be great, but the fact that Andy is

:21:33.:21:36.

such a big part of the team has put so much effort and pride into the

:21:37.:21:41.

team, we really know how much it means to him. The fact that he is

:21:42.:21:45.

not playing but still coming out to watch shows how much he loves it. So

:21:46.:21:53.

when you get support, having him and is present around will be a good

:21:54.:21:58.

thing, definitely. Kyle will be on court shortly because this was a few

:21:59.:22:05.

moments ago. The British fans giving a huge ovation to Andy Murray who

:22:06.:22:09.

took his place on the side of the court to be chief cheerleader. He is

:22:10.:22:15.

looking very relaxed. He loves this competition, doesn't he? It was the

:22:16.:22:21.

Serbians cheering that he was not playing, at least some of that! I

:22:22.:22:25.

think it is interesting that one of the umpires here has come over and

:22:26.:22:30.

shaken his hand and said welcome. So this is our sport at its finest

:22:31.:22:34.

represented by Andy Murray at the moment. Great to have him there. But

:22:35.:22:39.

once the ball start getting it, it would be him doing it. So this tie

:22:40.:22:43.

will get very tough very quickly. And the the fans will play their

:22:44.:22:51.

part. Those from Stirling University. They have helped the

:22:52.:22:55.

team so much. They have, and they made me almost laugh going back to

:22:56.:23:01.

the final. I couldn't believe how the ticket allocations have been

:23:02.:23:06.

done and have the Belgians had allowed the British fans to be right

:23:07.:23:11.

at the front. Whenever Belgian players looked up all they saw was

:23:12.:23:15.

British players blue and red. -- British fans, blue and red. They are

:23:16.:23:20.

afraid of getting a website in getting the tickets that they want.

:23:21.:23:25.

They will be denied. But it has been such a wonderful journey for British

:23:26.:23:30.

tennis. Here we see them walking on to court. I'm afraid my Serbian is

:23:31.:23:35.

not good so I didn't hear how they announced them. But here is Leon,

:23:36.:23:45.

Kyle, Dominic James and Jamie. But these matches are 50-50, they are

:23:46.:23:50.

tough. Yes, we think back to the last big win for Britain, the

:23:51.:23:55.

Russian match. Amazing windfall James Ward and Dan Evans. This is

:23:56.:24:01.

now time for Kyle and James to step up without Andy in the team. But

:24:02.:24:06.

Kyle has been on an amazing journey. He is developing well, improving at

:24:07.:24:10.

a great rate. He is a great kid and goes about everything in the right

:24:11.:24:15.

way. He is comfortable on the clay so I'm genuinely interested to see

:24:16.:24:19.

how this first match goes. Looking at the Serbian team, who will play

:24:20.:24:24.

the doubles? Obviously Zimonjic, but do you will play? It depends on the

:24:25.:24:34.

game today. He is 32, getting on a bit. Presumably Tipsarevic and

:24:35.:24:43.

Zimonjic, could you fancy against Inglot and his partner. Now we will

:24:44.:24:47.

pause for the minute's silence to remember those who lost their lives

:24:48.:24:49.

in the Nice attack yesterday. May they rest in peace. Everyone in

:24:50.:25:12.

Belgrave bring all of those who lost their lives. France's third terror

:25:13.:25:17.

attack in 18 months, during the Bastille Day celebrations. And now

:25:18.:25:25.

the introduction of the players. We perhaps missed Kyle. Here is James

:25:26.:25:31.

Ward. He will be second on court. And Kyle Edman, leading the British

:25:32.:25:34.

team. What an amazing experience it has been, to make your debut in the

:25:35.:25:40.

final and the very next time, you are British number one, way. And

:25:41.:25:45.

that is the inadvertent advantage of what Andy Murray has been able to

:25:46.:25:53.

do. For Carson -- Kyle, somebody of his age making their debut in the

:25:54.:25:57.

Davis Cup final, think what that can do. And the Davis Cup is not a small

:25:58.:26:03.

match. He is leading the team, it's big. Fantastic. And he will take

:26:04.:26:07.

that on tour with him. That Serbian line-up is good news, that Viktor

:26:08.:26:12.

Troicki is not being saluted. While we talk about Novak Djokovic and his

:26:13.:26:20.

presence, Viktor Troicki, 32 in the world, big-time experience. There is

:26:21.:26:27.

another one who we will have to get rid of, Dusan Lajovic. He is great

:26:28.:26:30.

on clay. Most of his points have come from clay court tournament. And

:26:31.:26:36.

Tipsarevic, who will be handing over the pennant, it looks as though...

:26:37.:26:44.

He has got Gray Davis Cup experience. The crowd will respond

:26:45.:26:48.

to him. That is another factor in this match. I think he has had 40

:26:49.:26:53.

Davis Cup wins. He has the experience. And with Djokovic coming

:26:54.:26:56.

in, they had that year when they won it. But still quite a few years ago.

:26:57.:27:02.

To have had the tough times he has had, the year is out, we don't quite

:27:03.:27:07.

know how he will play. But his record in Davis Cup is fantastic. It

:27:08.:27:15.

stretches back to the year 2000. He played for Yugoslavia, then Serbia

:27:16.:27:20.

and Montenegro, then Serbia. Davis Cup is odd, this is a comparative

:27:21.:27:23.

new independent country and they play their sport with a kind of

:27:24.:27:29.

nationalist pride that is a lesson to everybody. It is wonderful. I

:27:30.:27:33.

don't think they lose perspective, I hope there's not too much catcalling

:27:34.:27:38.

and whistling, some people get overexcited. But tennis has become a

:27:39.:27:44.

huge deal in Serbia. With Anna Ivanovic, with Novak. This is the

:27:45.:27:48.

tennis on the mat. And to win the Davis Cup for them, is huge. -- this

:27:49.:27:59.

is tech -- this has put tennis on the map. It is a bearpit to go in

:28:00.:28:05.

and try and win. This would be a sensational victory for Britain. I

:28:06.:28:10.

always notice the betting, and they see it about 50-50. I see it 60-44

:28:11.:28:19.

Serbia. Full survey. It depends a little bit on Yankee Tipsarevic, but

:28:20.:28:24.

a big match. I have to let you go in a minute. Because you will be

:28:25.:28:30.

commentating. I haven't had my tea! We will send it with the barn!

:28:31.:28:39.

Tipsarevic has huge -- Edmund has need weapons, but how will they work

:28:40.:28:45.

on this court? Take your time, when the time is right, go for it. It's

:28:46.:28:50.

great that its remit has come back with everything that he has been

:28:51.:28:54.

through, it would be easy to say goodbye, that he has had enough. I

:28:55.:28:59.

think he will be inspired. He has got a young man at the other end and

:29:00.:29:03.

he will be hoping that he will be no others. Watch out for Tipsarevic's

:29:04.:29:10.

rack hand on clay it is fantastic. Well we will have to let you go,

:29:11.:29:15.

Andrew. We have heard from Kyle, let's hear from Yankee Tipsarevic.

:29:16.:29:19.

We are talking about the injuries, he had a benign tumour in his foot

:29:20.:29:24.

which he had to have operated on. He tried to come back last year but

:29:25.:29:27.

then he injured his knee. He is talking to Russell Fuller. In the

:29:28.:29:32.

beginning, it wasn't that hard because you always have this idea

:29:33.:29:36.

that there will be over in a month, is not that bad, we were blessed

:29:37.:29:39.

with a beautiful daughter at that time so I was any a lot of time at

:29:40.:29:45.

home. But at one point, it stopped being that fun because I couldn't

:29:46.:29:51.

see the light at the end of the tunnel. If someday would have told

:29:52.:29:57.

me six months or a year, but in a year you will start, I would be sad

:29:58.:30:02.

but I would take it. But after a few months of treatment and nothing

:30:03.:30:09.

changing, I was having a lot of psychological problems. Depression.

:30:10.:30:13.

Basically the only guy on tour who could understand me was by Mateen

:30:14.:30:17.

del Potro who had a similar situation like me. But I was busy

:30:18.:30:24.

working on myself, reading a lot of self-help books. Going to the gym,

:30:25.:30:30.

meeting -- trying to stay healthy. It has been up and down

:30:31.:30:34.

psychologically but I have prevailed and here I am, playing all three

:30:35.:30:37.

days in the quarterfinals of the Davis Cup! So Is your We don't know

:30:38.:30:45.

what Tipsarevic he will be today. I loved the end of that interview, the

:30:46.:30:50.

way he is almost laughing. He has played a bit on the Graz and he is

:30:51.:30:55.

saying here I am playing the west of five set matches in three days. I

:30:56.:30:59.

will by a maze if he doesn't play the doubles and the younger one will

:31:00.:31:03.

come in and play on the last day. What a terrible time he has had,

:31:04.:31:08.

best part of two years out, having had a few injuries myself, that

:31:09.:31:11.

point he was making about if you could give me an exact time, if I

:31:12.:31:17.

have to sit out, I will take that, any day of the week over not knowing

:31:18.:31:20.

when the end is going to come, and fair play to him for getting back on

:31:21.:31:25.

the court. Maybe this is almost like a second tennis life for him. I

:31:26.:31:29.

agree with Andrew, I think he will be inspired. The match is a big

:31:30.:31:33.

occasion, the level of his play against somebody who has been

:31:34.:31:37.

playing a lot of tennis this day, Kyle, the younger, he has his mark

:31:38.:31:43.

to make. It is such a physical sport now, isn't it, he has to get himself

:31:44.:31:47.

back in that shape. We are going to learn a lot about him, about how he

:31:48.:31:52.

deals with the best of the five set match in the same way we will can

:31:53.:31:56.

Kyle. Kyle I think will be there physically. She working on his

:31:57.:32:00.

fitness all the time. There were a few question marks raised over Kyle

:32:01.:32:04.

in the final, and I think that was down to tension, but obviously on

:32:05.:32:09.

the clay, this is why... This is tense. It is, at least he had the

:32:10.:32:14.

experience before. Tipsarevic had that great win at Queen, but I think

:32:15.:32:18.

on a grass court, if you your fitness is not there, you can do

:32:19.:32:23.

other things to maybe hide that, on the clay court against the physical

:32:24.:32:29.

Kyle Edmund, we will see how he handles it. We talked about the

:32:30.:32:34.

weapons that, the serve and the forehand, we talk ability, but he

:32:35.:32:37.

has improved other aspects of the game in the past year. Yes, his

:32:38.:32:42.

forehand, you are talking to a few of the coaches and players on tour,

:32:43.:32:46.

they talk about Kyle Edmund's forehand as being one of the top

:32:47.:32:52.

four. He has such a fast arm. He can hit winners from anywhere on the

:32:53.:32:56.

court. What I have been impressed with is how he has improved his

:32:57.:33:00.

backhand, sometimes he could be guilty of leaving the ball in the

:33:01.:33:04.

middle of the court. It seems like he is very focussed on his game

:33:05.:33:09.

style. He has been patient, he can go crosscourt with it all day. It is

:33:10.:33:13.

about him setting out, how can he use his forehand as much as

:33:14.:33:17.

possible. It is a massive job. If you are Leon Smith, you are saying

:33:18.:33:21.

move this guy round, he is not match fit. We don't know how fit he is and

:33:22.:33:26.

how much training he has been a able to do. Get the big forehand working

:33:27.:33:31.

and make him run the miles. I know it is a cliche but this is a case of

:33:32.:33:35.

playing the ball and not the man, because you look at the recent

:33:36.:33:39.

history. Kyle has the tennis behind him, he is fit. Fit. Tipsarevic has

:33:40.:33:43.

an amazing reputation and experience, but we don't know what

:33:44.:33:47.

his level is. Lyon will be saying take care of your side the court.

:33:48.:33:51.

There is no need to panic, even if you get off to a bad start, if

:33:52.:33:56.

Tipsarevic comes out flying and playing with massive amounts of

:33:57.:33:59.

flair, that is fine, Kyle can stay in, there is no need to panic, there

:34:00.:34:04.

is lots of things Lyon can do. Andy will help this as well. It will

:34:05.:34:09.

probably be a hostile crowd. They will into it. We have seen Andy as

:34:10.:34:13.

one of the best at dealing with that. Perhaps that is another area

:34:14.:34:19.

he might be able to get messages to the bench, to say maybe this is how

:34:20.:34:22.

I would deal with it. Maybe try this. You mentioned it, when we were

:34:23.:34:28.

in Belgium, it felt like a home tie. It is not easy this hostile

:34:29.:34:32.

atmosphere, you don't experience it in other tournaments. Only this

:34:33.:34:37.

competition, it is not easy to not be affected by it. Different people

:34:38.:34:41.

handle it in different ways. Andy Murray, he would... He loves it. He

:34:42.:34:46.

loves the fact that there is an energy there and he can use it.

:34:47.:34:50.

Other player, you know, they would be OK if it was flat and they can

:34:51.:34:54.

keep their head down and get op with it. Kyle, he looks like he plays

:34:55.:35:00.

more within himself. Everything he say, I think he will be inspired by

:35:01.:35:05.

supporting. We have such a great group of fans that are there. It is

:35:06.:35:10.

not a massive group. It is enough to think we are a tight group, here to

:35:11.:35:14.

take on the world, I think that will help. They pick the clay, they

:35:15.:35:19.

picked Belgrade and Tipsarevic on the other hand is going to try and

:35:20.:35:23.

get the crowd involved, try and intimidate his opponent. I would

:35:24.:35:26.

think so, that is from Tipsarevic's point of view, it is using all his

:35:27.:35:31.

experience, he must be thinking to himself, how am I going to hold up?

:35:32.:35:37.

He doesn't no. He will be thinking I will try and play the best tennis

:35:38.:35:42.

possible. At some point don't be surprised to so him soaking the

:35:43.:35:47.

atmosphere up. He spent two-and-a-half years thinking would

:35:48.:35:50.

he get the chance to do this again. It is amazing he is even on the

:35:51.:35:55.

court. Time for us to sit back and enjoy this in the company of Andrew

:35:56.:36:00.

who is with John Lloyd. Thank you very much indeed. Looking forward to

:36:01.:36:10.

this. The captain of Serbia with an important job to do. Home tie.

:36:11.:36:14.

Pressure on him to deliver in this quarterfinal of the Davis Cup.

:36:15.:36:51.

That was the weapon he is going to have to fire, if he is going to get

:36:52.:36:59.

through Janko Tipsarevic today. Mid court ball, forehand, pull the

:37:00.:37:00.

trigger. Game Great Britain. First game.

:37:01.:40:03.

Just about to say there, before this Kyle Edmund forehand, that the court

:40:04.:40:07.

conditions look very very slow and heavy, then he just carved through

:40:08.:40:12.

that. If you have that sort of pace, it doesn't really matter how slow

:40:13.:40:16.

the court it. It does look heavy condition, obviously the rain, and

:40:17.:40:22.

probably a lot of heaviness in the clay court, with the way they put it

:40:23.:40:26.

out, they want it as slow as possible. He handled that game very

:40:27.:40:31.

well from love 30, and the crowd, the, it feels a bit like a home tie

:40:32.:40:44.

again. We are in Belgrade for this. Tipsarevic representing Serbia.

:40:45.:42:56.

Best of five set tennis in the Davis Cup. The other quarterfinals Italy

:42:57.:43:06.

versus Argentina. The Czech Republic are taking on France, indoors on a

:43:07.:43:12.

hard court and hard outdoors for the United States versus Croatia. That

:43:13.:43:16.

is Portland, Oregon. We will keep you up to speed with all of that.

:43:17.:43:31.

Handed in, didn't it. Here comes Pascal Maria to have a loob look at

:43:32.:43:42.

the line which Tipsarevic pointed out. It's out.

:43:43.:43:51.

Game, Great Britain. This is the first meeting between these two

:43:52.:46:31.

nations since 2006, prior to Serbia becoming an ind nation in 2007. It

:46:32.:46:36.

was Serbia and Montenegro then, in Glasgow. Serbia won that meeting, in

:46:37.:46:41.

the euro Africa zone group one, which is just underneath this world

:46:42.:46:45.

group, of 16 nation, that we are seeing this tie coming from.

:46:46.:46:50.

Remember Novak Djokovic, a young Djokovic, still two years away from

:46:51.:46:53.

winning his first Grand Slam Championship at the Australian Open.

:46:54.:47:00.

Defeating Greg Rusedski. I remember looking at young Novak

:47:01.:47:03.

Djokovic and thinking this guy is a bit special. Not bad. And he

:47:04.:47:10.

couldn't even volley then In those days that is when there was rumours

:47:11.:47:15.

about the Djokovic family possibly coming to Britain, and we would have

:47:16.:47:20.

had number two and -- one and two players in the world, if he had come

:47:21.:47:24.

here and it has had gone through. I think we need an investigation as to

:47:25.:47:34.

why that didn't go through! Exactly. Great Britain bidding for a sixth

:47:35.:47:43.

consecutive Davis Cup tie today. Here comes the rain. It appears that

:47:44.:47:47.

we are going to get some rain, indeed, John. It looks like a heavy

:47:48.:47:52.

one as well. And this was predicted but they are

:47:53.:47:57.

not hanging about. No, the other bit, it was drizzling, but this is

:47:58.:48:02.

substantial rain, and it is just following the tennis circuit round,

:48:03.:48:07.

isn't it. The Italian Open in Rome this year, in May, was awful.

:48:08.:48:15.

Freezing cold. One or two of the clay court events, Monte Carlo had

:48:16.:48:20.

unseasonably cold weather. A difficult first week at Wimbledon.

:48:21.:48:23.

It is terrible. This is, well, again as we have been saying, at least it

:48:24.:48:28.

is clay. If this was obviously grass, or in hard court, you know,

:48:29.:48:32.

you would be in trouble, but as long as we can get rid of the heavy stuff

:48:33.:48:39.

you can play on the clay, in, you know, reasonable rain, but, it is

:48:40.:48:43.

not great, but this looks very heavy right now, you know, with the late

:48:44.:48:50.

start as well, the way they have set this event up, the likelihood that

:48:51.:48:54.

you know, the second match will be played under lights. It looks that

:48:55.:49:01.

way already. It is quite spectacular this arena, in Belgrade. Great

:49:02.:49:06.

sporting complex, calved out of the rock here. As you can see, as they

:49:07.:49:11.

cover up the clay court, and sporting complex with so many

:49:12.:49:16.

facilities here, including that swimming pool, towards the top of

:49:17.:49:19.

your screen there, which will probably be overflowing in a few

:49:20.:49:24.

minute, such is the deluge here in Belgrade, Serbia. It is outdoors and

:49:25.:49:29.

on clay, which is absorbent to a point but not so much they don't get

:49:30.:49:34.

the coffers on. We have to wait. It is a tough one for young Kyle

:49:35.:49:37.

Edmund. Leading the British charge, ranked as the world number 67 as he

:49:38.:49:45.

s Andy Murray choosing to absent himself from playing duties in this

:49:46.:49:51.

quarterfinal of the Davis Cup, but nevertheless, making his way in an

:49:52.:49:57.

admirable show of support for his team-mates, to Belgrade, to court

:49:58.:50:02.

side, to support his team-mates, who they won the Davis Cup with last

:50:03.:50:06.

year. So just a question of patience for

:50:07.:50:12.

everybody now. We hope for some more tennis as soon

:50:13.:50:17.

as possible. Plenty of hardy souls there, who will stick around and

:50:18.:50:22.

wait to support their nation, the 2010 champions against last year's

:50:23.:50:26.

Davis Cup champions, Great Britain. Three games played Sue, not a lot of

:50:27.:50:30.

tennis action so far. But we are 2-1 up. Which are in the lead. I darnt

:50:31.:50:35.

tell you I have been look on the website about the rain, and I am

:50:36.:50:39.

afraid it is going to be with us for some time. On and off over the next

:50:40.:50:46.

few hours, it is delayed in Italy as well, so they have, this is

:50:47.:50:49.

frustrating isn't it, so youed isly think why didn't they pick an Indoor

:50:50.:50:54.

Arena and we could have tennis, we have seen it through Wimbledon and

:50:55.:50:59.

the French Open. You will learn a lot about these players. All the

:51:00.:51:04.

players are well practised in rain delays. So disappointing. The good

:51:05.:51:08.

thing seeing they are covering the courts so with the clay, as soon as

:51:09.:51:13.

it stops raining and the covers are off, they will be back on, a decent

:51:14.:51:17.

start from Kiel but not many you can tell from ten minutes play. That

:51:18.:51:23.

tricky, when you are thinking about Tipsarevic, maybe that could be

:51:24.:51:27.

another issue as far as that, getting yourself warm, cold, warm,

:51:28.:51:30.

cold, that is not great. The main thing, is how much energy that takes

:51:31.:51:34.

up, especially when you have a five set match to play. You could have a

:51:35.:51:40.

four, five hour match but warming up, topping, when do you eat? By the

:51:41.:51:45.

time you get on court you can be drained. Andy Murray is in there,

:51:46.:51:49.

good experience, Kyle Edmund, they will be very relaxed and the good

:51:50.:51:53.

thing about this, in a Davis Cup environment, you know when you

:51:54.:51:57.

playing not a regular tour event by yourself, you are spending a lot of

:51:58.:52:01.

time by yourself, unless you are a top player with a big entourage,

:52:02.:52:05.

here a big team out here, so there will be plenty of stuff to do. When

:52:06.:52:10.

you have been at the Davis Cup, on the home match, you have been down

:52:11.:52:14.

court side with the team. What has come across is how close they are,

:52:15.:52:19.

not just the people round on court, but the support staff as well. It

:52:20.:52:24.

makes a big difference you see it with football teams and other team,

:52:25.:52:28.

if you start from a position that is low down, which this Davis Cup team

:52:29.:52:33.

did, when you get to, go through a journey of three, four, five years

:52:34.:52:37.

it is more or less the same people, the back room staff has been tearily

:52:38.:52:41.

on stand, so everybody knows very well. Everybody knows the routine,

:52:42.:52:46.

their role, although there has been a few different player, the main

:52:47.:52:49.

stay of the team has been they have come through this journey together.

:52:50.:52:53.

It is like that, when you are down there court side, everybody is

:52:54.:52:57.

focussed on that one player, playing the match and everyone doing what

:52:58.:53:01.

they can to help that player. A was one thing that Leigh I don't know

:53:02.:53:06.

did say and made clear when he took over as captain, his thing would be

:53:07.:53:11.

he would create a massive team spirit. The strap line at the time

:53:12.:53:15.

was our jurny back to the world group. At that time he couldn't have

:53:16.:53:18.

known that Andy Murray was going to commit so heavily to the Davis Cup.

:53:19.:53:23.

If he had I think it would have been journey to winning the Davis Cup.

:53:24.:53:28.

What an amazing achievement. Leon Smith joins in, at the last Davis

:53:29.:53:33.

Cup tie he said Matt Little who trains with Andy Murray was suddenly

:53:34.:53:40.

setting Leon challenges to do the interval training that is, brutal

:53:41.:53:44.

exercise and Leon went for it. He said he couldn't breathe for a

:53:45.:53:49.

while. You have to. The thing about those types of thing, if you are

:53:50.:53:53.

somebody who doesn't take up a challenge or saying I am not doing

:53:54.:53:57.

that, he is the first person to awhy are you not doing that? You are

:53:58.:54:04.

lazy, you are this. Matt Little, he is a great person to have round, so

:54:05.:54:09.

motivating and he has been the one person in Andy Murray's team, over

:54:10.:54:13.

all these years, he has been the one person who has been there through

:54:14.:54:17.

thick and thin. That is what Andy puts a commitment to, he has looked

:54:18.:54:22.

at what Djokovic has done, he said if I am going to match him I have to

:54:23.:54:27.

do it physically and Matt has done it to new levels. A lot of the stuff

:54:28.:54:34.

is build off a ?location, of there isn't -- a foundation, there is a

:54:35.:54:38.

goal, a task, and we are working towards this, and I remember when

:54:39.:54:43.

Andy first burst on to the scene, and Matt came on full-time with

:54:44.:54:47.

Andy, when he was playing Grand Slam, when he was, I remember one

:54:48.:54:51.

year he beat Roddick in the third round, right from the start he was

:54:52.:54:57.

winnings at the Grand Slams but for the first four or five years they

:54:58.:55:02.

were doing training blocks during the tournament, he had seen what was

:55:03.:55:06.

happening and thinking to have my longevity in the game and be a

:55:07.:55:10.

champion, I need to embark on this physical journey to get to a point

:55:11.:55:14.

where my body is ready to endure the matches over a period of time. That

:55:15.:55:21.

is the level of commitment that was there, but what an achieve. He has

:55:22.:55:27.

got to a place where he is arguably the best AEK Athens heat on the

:55:28.:55:32.

tour. -- athlete on the tour. He spends two hours on the court,

:55:33.:55:37.

because the rest is getting his body from stretching, from pie late, from

:55:38.:55:41.

the training that you are doing it is almost more off court training

:55:42.:55:45.

you need now, which is so different from Moy day. I guess all the

:55:46.:55:50.

research has been done on the sports science side in terms of recovering

:55:51.:55:55.

and how to get your body on a level to perform, the money that is

:55:56.:55:59.

available these days, and endorsements and the RBS of it. If

:56:00.:56:04.

as a player you have identified this is a programme I need to maximise

:56:05.:56:08.

potential, there is almost no him to how many people you can have round

:56:09.:56:13.

how you want to structure every day, but you are right, from even before

:56:14.:56:17.

Andy goes on to the court to warm up, and before his match, he has got

:56:18.:56:21.

there an hour, hour-and-a-half of training he is warming up, doing

:56:22.:56:24.

everything he feels he need to do, so by the time he is son the court

:56:25.:56:30.

he is ready to play at his best. It is still raining, the court is

:56:31.:56:34.

covered. No immediate prospect of play so we are going to drag Andy

:56:35.:56:39.

and John down and talk all things tennis here until play gets under

:56:40.:56:43.

way. We have been talking about Andy Murray, what a wonderful Sunday

:56:44.:56:48.

winning his Wimbledon title. He was back in the grounds and spoke to

:56:49.:56:53.

Russell. I feel a responsibility, I really all the guys on the team are

:56:54.:56:57.

great, my brother is part of the team. Last year was, you know Ieuan

:56:58.:57:04.

Wyn Jonesing the Davis Cup was one of the best moments of my career,

:57:05.:57:09.

but the whole team, it was amazing, amazing time, and you know when they

:57:10.:57:14.

have had that moment with all of the guys, because everyone played their

:57:15.:57:20.

part as well, and we are a team, whether I am playing or not, always

:57:21.:57:26.

try to support. Is What is the priority for you, for the rest of

:57:27.:57:30.

this year? Is it Grand Slams your primary motivation? Well the

:57:31.:57:37.

Olympics is important to me, obviously, I have been involved in

:57:38.:57:43.

two Olympics, I loved the experience and winning a gold medal, you

:57:44.:57:48.

realise how special it is, so, you know, I want to try and perform well

:57:49.:57:54.

at the Olympics and the US Open comes a few weeks after that as

:57:55.:57:58.

well. So I need to get a good decent amount of practise on the hard

:57:59.:58:04.

court, because you know, last few tournaments I played on the hard I

:58:05.:58:08.

struggled. Didn't play particularly well, need to get some work done

:58:09.:58:14.

before then. It is becoming world number one is that a big motivating

:58:15.:58:19.

factor, is it realistic. I would love to get to number one, a lot of

:58:20.:58:25.

people are forgetting what Novak has done. If I want to get there I am

:58:26.:58:32.

going to have to try to win more matches against him, but yes, I

:58:33.:58:36.

would love to get to number one obviously. Talking so well there on

:58:37.:58:42.

about an hour-and-a-half's sleep, he had been out celebrating. Flying

:58:43.:58:47.

high after Wimbledon, he has a glass-and-a-half of champagne. He is

:58:48.:58:52.

a well oiled machine, unlike me! There you go, he is feeling good

:58:53.:58:56.

about life and talking about the Olympics and being number one, there

:58:57.:59:01.

is an appetite for further success, perhaps when he won his first women

:59:02.:59:08.

con, perhaps the first time round, not quite so hungry, knows how to

:59:09.:59:14.

handle it better. He is ready to attack all the way for the next

:59:15.:59:18.

three or four year, I would be amazed if he wasn't world number one

:59:19.:59:22.

in the future. Know rack cannot maintain the standards. He is a long

:59:23.:59:27.

way in front. He has won everything. But you can't keep on doing that,

:59:28.:59:31.

other things happen in your life and you go up, there are ups and downs

:59:32.:59:36.

and you have to assume he will have a down at some point. Perhaps it is

:59:37.:59:43.

now and Andy can hit it. While he is winning all the slams Andy, his base

:59:44.:59:47.

of computer points is not a poor one. I am reading he is working out

:59:48.:59:52.

20 weeks for Lendl, he has to have Lendl in his corner. He is a

:59:53.:59:56.

different player with him, there is huge respect there. I think so, it

:59:57.:00:00.

was a wonderful moment when he picked him, that was the missing

:00:01.:00:04.

part of the jigsaw, he just needed him in his corner. As it happened of

:00:05.:00:10.

course, we sort of laugh about it, but in some ways he almost picked

:00:11.:00:13.

Lendl to beat Djokovic and Djokovic lost before he played him, so that

:00:14.:00:18.

is why I think he said about lucky Lendl, because he probably would

:00:19.:00:21.

have won it without him to be honest but there is a different about him.

:00:22.:00:26.

If he is going to attack the number one spot, agree with Andrew, I think

:00:27.:00:31.

he will get that, I think he needs Lendl in there and only a few years

:00:32.:00:35.

back we were wondering whether he was going to win a Grand Slam

:00:36.:00:39.

because of the mental side of it. Now it is how many will he win? He

:00:40.:00:45.

has at least three or four in it. I think he will become number one in

:00:46.:00:48.

in the world at some stage. And this role of the super coach,

:00:49.:00:58.

even Lendl identifies with Murray, because he losses first few Grand

:00:59.:01:04.

Slams. He is a born when NES instilled that in Andy. I have to be

:01:05.:01:10.

honest, Andy has had a lot of coaches and I haven't given that

:01:11.:01:14.

much credit to his coaches because I think you such a gifted player, and

:01:15.:01:20.

he is Reg Stodden, he knows what he wants and how to work his way

:01:21.:01:24.

through matches. And of course he has his mum, who also knows the game

:01:25.:01:31.

very well. But this even Lendl effect is a real thing. I don't know

:01:32.:01:39.

what it is, whether it is Lendl's personality, his achievements within

:01:40.:01:42.

the game, there is something about him where Andy has a different level

:01:43.:01:47.

of respect for him than anybody else and when he is around, it's

:01:48.:01:51.

basically just put him into this optimal state to perform at his

:01:52.:01:55.

absolute best. It's not like it takes all the fire away, it doesn't

:01:56.:02:02.

do that, it keeps the right amount. And there is a really small amount

:02:03.:02:06.

of wasted energy on the court when Lendl is in the court. Is not the

:02:07.:02:10.

same when anybody else's around. Whether that is something they speak

:02:11.:02:14.

about, I don't know. I have a feeling it is just the respect, his

:02:15.:02:20.

behaviour changes. Interesting, that is Lendl's machine-like quality.

:02:21.:02:25.

Lendl in his generation was the man who turned it from almost an art

:02:26.:02:29.

form or whatever it was, shotmaking, Lendl turned it into some sort of a

:02:30.:02:35.

cyborg feeling. He didn't want to talk to anybody in the changing

:02:36.:02:42.

room. If he did, it was for a silly joke which nobody found funny. He

:02:43.:02:47.

was dominant, a physical force. Andy Love that thing about him, how he is

:02:48.:02:52.

the decree, how he takes his trading says seriously. No stone left

:02:53.:02:57.

unturned. Lendl was one of the first to do that on the mend's circuit. He

:02:58.:03:02.

turned people over on the court. He loved hitting them as well. If you

:03:03.:03:07.

had a short ball and you played Lendl, you would get it in the

:03:08.:03:10.

neck... And all that stuff they still do in practice! It's a

:03:11.:03:16.

personality thing, there is no question, Andy plays for Ivan. They

:03:17.:03:22.

talk so much, I was reading somewhere. And it was telling you

:03:23.:03:25.

all the problems and how he deals with Wimbledon and the pressure and

:03:26.:03:29.

expectation that the media and expectations placed on him. And

:03:30.:03:33.

Lendl said, don't read it, you are playing for yourself, and he is

:03:34.:03:40.

taking away all the problems and it will supply and saying it is not a

:03:41.:03:44.

problem. When it gets crucial in a match, embrace it, don't be worried

:03:45.:03:49.

by it. It is telling all of Andy's negatives into a positive and

:03:50.:03:54.

something to embrace. Absolutely, and that is what the super coaches

:03:55.:04:00.

do. Lendl said it is not so much technical stuff, in fact he said,

:04:01.:04:04.

I'm not very good at the technical stuff, it is the mindset. What are

:04:05.:04:08.

you going to be thinking at crucial times? What do you need to bring

:04:09.:04:13.

onto the court mentally the night before a crucial match, when they

:04:14.:04:17.

talk about the plans? Yes, Murray has been there and done it, but not

:04:18.:04:22.

as much as Lendl. These great champions do have little doubt at

:04:23.:04:31.

all times in their careers. Doesn't matter how many titles you have one.

:04:32.:04:34.

We look at them as if they are going to play in a local tournament, but

:04:35.:04:37.

there are doubts. When you have a coach like Lendl in your corner who

:04:38.:04:40.

tells you what you will feel, it gives you that comfort level, that

:04:41.:04:43.

support system. The feeling that when this comes up, I know how to

:04:44.:04:48.

deal with it. And somebody he can look at that knows what he's feeling

:04:49.:04:57.

. The two tie-breaks with Milos Raonic. Andy just went up a level.

:04:58.:05:05.

And the start of those tie-breaks, the difference in approach. The

:05:06.:05:09.

focus of Andy Murray, you lasers down. You knew he would give nothing

:05:10.:05:13.

away. And on the other side, Raonic, who had all this weaponry, fantastic

:05:14.:05:19.

player, and he just links. A couple of errors at the start of the

:05:20.:05:23.

tie-break and a big Apple is created. Mat macro he just blinked.

:05:24.:05:34.

It was one break, two errors at the start of each tie-break. I think

:05:35.:05:39.

Lendl gives Andy Murray mental permission to go for it. If you go

:05:40.:05:44.

for it, make a mistake doing the right thing then -- is better than

:05:45.:05:53.

getting lucky. Go for it, this is your time. He gives Andy permission

:05:54.:06:00.

to do for it, -- to go for it. I've looked so miserable out there and

:06:01.:06:04.

you can just... He got emotional at the end! He got emotional. I

:06:05.:06:10.

remember 2013, in the changing rooms, you could not have taken that

:06:11.:06:16.

smile off, it was a tin ear. That is achievement. That is why people play

:06:17.:06:23.

sport. It is real reward. And it's lovely, Andy can play the tennis, we

:06:24.:06:28.

know that, but when he points to his head and says, I am not going to

:06:29.:06:31.

lose the match, mental strength. Right up there with Djokovic. That's

:06:32.:06:37.

right. I couldn't quite believe it at first. Then I thought, I believe

:06:38.:06:42.

you. And everybody including his opponents believed him. That is the

:06:43.:06:47.

effect he has on Murray. He is going from strength to strength. I look

:06:48.:06:51.

forward to seeing what he will achieve because Novak Djokovic, had

:06:52.:06:55.

better watch out. Murray is coming after him and he is a different

:06:56.:06:59.

Murray. And what about the next couple of months? That is the next

:07:00.:07:07.

-- reason why he's not playing here, because of the Olympics. And that

:07:08.:07:16.

meant so much to him. Yes, and this was it the start of his quest

:07:17.:07:21.

towards Grand Slams. It started here. He had the Wimbledon final

:07:22.:07:26.

against Roger Federer and he was a setup and then Federer dispatched

:07:27.:07:33.

him. When the roof came over and it became an indoor match. But a

:07:34.:07:38.

comeback on the same court and basically destroy Federer, it almost

:07:39.:07:41.

felt that he had done it in a Grand Slam and it gave him extra belief.

:07:42.:07:47.

How different does Wimbledon look there, as well! With all the

:07:48.:07:52.

Wimbledon branding. -- Olympic branding. It big boost for him. And

:07:53.:08:02.

when he bashed that a stand the middle, there was a difference in

:08:03.:08:07.

the emotion. -- that ace down the middle. He was the same after being

:08:08.:08:12.

interviewed after the Davis Cup match in glass go, the prodigal son

:08:13.:08:18.

returning, this yearning for success. When you pounded that ace

:08:19.:08:21.

down the middle against Federer, it was a floodgates then. He may not

:08:22.:08:29.

win a another Grand Slam match after this, after our talking, but he has

:08:30.:08:41.

this and that is exciting. Still raining! And still no tea! But let's

:08:42.:08:49.

carry on the conversation, because as far as the Olympics is concerned,

:08:50.:08:54.

and Roger Federer, he gave his all in the Olympics and he that is his

:08:55.:09:06.

goal. He has won everything else. We hope not. We hope that will not be

:09:07.:09:14.

the end. Because it's a bonus when we on court. You look at him over

:09:15.:09:18.

the years and when he won easily, people would say he's was willing so

:09:19.:09:24.

easily and it was boring. But I would say no, you see shots in every

:09:25.:09:29.

match that nobody else would hit, would have the imagination or genius

:09:30.:09:35.

to do so. He is a credit. I hope he wins the gold medal because it would

:09:36.:09:39.

be right for him to win the whole lot. In some ways it would be a

:09:40.:09:45.

fitting way to go out. I think he will play for a lot longer. He loved

:09:46.:09:50.

the sport, you love the whole process and keep thinking he can

:09:51.:09:55.

improve. It was a match that he says, he should have one, at

:09:56.:10:00.

Wimbledon. He had all the chances in the fourth set. And you can see how

:10:01.:10:03.

that hurt him afterwards. But I think something has changed a little

:10:04.:10:07.

bit in the last eight or nine months. I think, last year, there

:10:08.:10:12.

was no thought of them stopping. He was still playing great tennis. He

:10:13.:10:17.

had had no big injuries. He had come back with his back troubling him a

:10:18.:10:21.

little bit. He loved playing so much he was not thinking about it. This

:10:22.:10:27.

time when he gave a wave after losing to Raonic, I think he is not

:10:28.:10:31.

quite sure whether he will be here in a year to play. The thought is in

:10:32.:10:39.

his mind. I think, physically, that will be in his mind. We are keeping

:10:40.:10:43.

a watch on Belgrade. But in August, all eyes will be on Rio.

:10:44.:11:41.

That sadly got as silly mood. Here are other sports to look forward to.

:11:42.:12:45.

We have got about a minute here. Still raining, it's depressing,

:12:46.:12:52.

isn't it? I just want to make a point about the Olympic Games. When

:12:53.:12:58.

tennis went back in 1984, the golfers have let themselves down by

:12:59.:13:02.

pulling out and I'm glad the tennis players are going. We talk about

:13:03.:13:06.

Roger Federer and him picking up a singles gold and how wonderful it

:13:07.:13:10.

would be. Ten supports the Olympic Games and golf has not, and it's

:13:11.:13:15.

embarrassing. But you can understand that in some ways, the sports world

:13:16.:13:19.

and Olympic presence, so it is the governing body that is pushing them.

:13:20.:13:23.

Because all the eyes are on Rio de Janeiro. It's difficult when there

:13:24.:13:28.

is a full professional tour going on adjacent to the Olympic and there

:13:29.:13:36.

are so much money there. In the first year, it would have been great

:13:37.:13:41.

to see all of the top players participating. Absolutely. I am

:13:42.:13:45.

going to get the kettle on the just a moment! But these are the scenes

:13:46.:13:50.

here in Belgrade. As you can see, the rain is still falling. The

:13:51.:13:55.

covers are still on so sadly, no tennis. You can watch something else

:13:56.:13:59.

rather than anything else. We will be back later on and we will rejoin

:14:00.:14:04.
