qualifying. Iceland unbeaten so far in their first ever experience of a

major tournament. He is now -- here is how things stand. The situation

is more precarious for Portugal and Iceland. They need at least a point.

It is precarious. Portugal have struggled so far, are they too

dependent on one man? I don't think they are too dependent on him. I

would say is they are not playing well as a team yet. The lack of

creativity from midfield. Obviously when you think about Ronaldo, you

are thinking about a guy that can bale you out. When they win it is

because of Ronaldo, when they lose it is also because of Ronaldo,

because they don't perform, but you don't win alone or lose alone. You

certainly don't lose. What I'm saying is in midfield they don't

create enough to find the big man. He could have had a hat-trick the

other day. Usually he would with these type of opportunities, and he

missed a penalty, but it is a team thing for me. I never thought I

would say this, but the thing Ronaldo is trying to hide? Yes, I

think he is. His desperation to be regarded as the best man in the

tournament. He wants to come out being the top man, and that is the

desperation you have seen for his chances. He puts them away for Real

Madrid. To be fair, that is the way he plays, I have seen him shooting

from everywhere even when he scores four goals. We will talk more about

Ronaldo nearer the game. As for Hungary, even their coach does not

expect them to do as well as they have done. He said the second round

for us is not an expectation. It is a dreamer. Exactly that. I was

surprised by the level of their performance in the first game. They

are a threat. I am really pleased for my old team-mate, Zoltan Gera.

He has been magnificent. His third game in a week, 37 years old. It is

a great story, as is Iceland. Undefeated so far. They have an

interesting heat map Kaino you have spotted, that is worth a little look

at. There are backs to the wall and parking the bus, but this is both

games. They are on fire at the back, one of their volcanoes. Let's give

them some credit, they are defending with everyone behind the ball but

they have done it well, and they have got themselves a goal as well,

so well done to them. Indeed. It is the final day of group games, the

round of 16 starts on Saturday and this is how things are shaping up

right now. Last night's results made things a little clearer, not much

but a little. Northern Ireland we know through as one of the best

third placed teams. They will play France or Wales, though it is turkey

look the most likely opponents for the Welsh. England as we said over

the conclusion of this group. There has been some speculation about Roy

Hodgson's future in today's papers, and Gabby Logan has been reflecting

on his selection gamble against Slovakia.

we can speak to Chris Como on. Chris, first and foremost, thanks

very much for joining us. All has gone swimmingly well feel so far.

The mood in the camp must be fabulous? Yes, as you can imagine.

You know, topping the group was an absolute fantastic feeling.

Importantly we needed to try and get out of the group stages. We went

into it as fourth seeds. We had it all to do really. But the players

lived up to the expectation of our home support. It has just been a

great experience so far. Every game that goes past is more experience

for us at a tournament. The players are revelling in the situation may

have created for themselves. Fluent victory against England, perhaps

Wales's finest hour, do you think, on a football pitch? I would have to

say yes, that is probably our best performance to date. I thought it

was a complete performance, in and out of possession. It was brilliant.

I think of course we deserved the win. A lot of pressure going into

the game. Some people looked at it and thought, well, Wales don't have

anything to lose because they are not expected to get through but

obviously we didn't see it like that. We thought we had a chance, we

put ourselves in a position, which we always said before we came when

we get to that last game, can we be in a position where we can effect

that we can get through to the last 16, and we were in that position.

But the players, like I said, they loved being in that position, they

enjoyed the pressure, going out to perform under that pressure and they

deserve the credit they get. You certainly seem to have a real

togetherness and spirit about this squad. Also when we have seen quite

a lot of the star players not quite performing in this tournament

committee have managed to get the best out of Gareth Bale as well. How

have you done? We have got a way of working, you know, we have got a

game plan, and certain formation that we rarely tweak, rarely change.

They know their jobs, they know their responsibilities. We have got

our core values that we try to stick to come and we concentrate on that,

to be honest with you. The result is sometimes you can play very, very

well and you don't get the result. Once you start concentrating too

much on the result you forget what you are actually good at and forget

the game plan, and to the process of putting in a good performance. So

the result is what it is going to be, we tried to concentrate on

ourselves, and make sure we get the best out of what we are good at.

Generally everything else takes care of business of itself. Winning the

group seems to have opened up the draw nicely for you. Northern

Ireland or Turkey next. You could go a long way in this tournament,

Chris. I think a lot of people will look at it, and can afford to look

at it and say there is a good pathway there, should any heavy get

past this or that team. -- anybody get past. But we can't afford to

look past the next game, we can't afford to look past the next 45

minutes. We have never been in this position. We are not just happy to

be here, we believe we can compete in this competition, and we must

continue to do that. Whoever we get will be a tough game. All the teams

here are good teams, and most of the games, there are rarely more than

one goal in it. It is always tough, it is like a game of chess at this

level. Whoever comes out of the hat, it will be a tough game but it is a

challenge for us. We are looking forward to it, we have every

possibility to keep progressing, so we are excited. We wish you well,

Northern Ireland or Turkey the potential opponents, and we will

hear from Northern Ireland manager, Michael O'Neill, at half-time. Back

changes but not in goal. Keep a Patricio has not been busy so far,

The 40-year-old is the only player only to appear at the European

Championships. The iconic ill fitting sweat pants of Gabor Kiraly

have become part of the scenery at Euro 2016, adding a certain I don't

know what to the tournament. But any dedicated followers of fashion will

know that his style has been in vogue for decades. I started 20

years ago in Hungary, and it brought luck. I took at after to London, to

Crystal Palace. Comfort is key for Kiraly. The story goes that after

this mistake back in 2005, Gabor Kiraly vowed never to wear shorts

again, whatever the weather. I think it can be then -- it can't be

beneficial when it rains heavily, but I know him really well, and he

said to me it doesn't matter to him whether it is raining or not. But it

looks funny. As well as wearing his trusty tracksuit bottoms, this

creature of habit always puts his left shin pad on first, must listen

to Bon Jovi before every game, and only ever drives a mini Cooper. The

unvarying routine must be working. Against Austria, Kiraly became the

first Hungary and goalkeeper to keep a clean sheet at the Euros.

COMMENTATOR: Not bad for a 40-year-old. Still going strong at

40, still earning admiring glances. I was amazed that he is still

playing, I thought he retired many years ago! He is playing well. What

a super save from Gabor Kiraly. The unorthodox keeper is prone to the

occasional error, but in typical fashion he will just pick himself up

and dust and self down. There is no sign of Gabor calling time on his

international career just yet. He will be hoping to make a fume or

moments of history before he hangs up his grade joggers. I have played

20 years for Hungary in these bottoms, and I don't think I will

change. What a character. In Hungary today,

they are having a special where you're jogging bottoms to work day

in honour of Gabor Kiraly. People have been poking a bit of fun at it.

They did this on Canadian TV! Presenters wearing those bottoms.

Danny also did it the other day as well!

LAUGHTER Not quite as baggy, those ones,

Kiraly's! He's a good keeper, he makes the odd Rickett, is it a

weakness or a strength? Well, the number two can't be that good that's

all will say! It's his crosses, he can't cope with crosses. Shot

stopping, yeah, he's half decent. This is his best save of the

tournament. He is a presence, he's talking and trying to lead his

defence, but for me he's a weakness because he doesn't know what he's

doing when crosses come in. That's a good save, to be fair. Here, you see

his starting position. He's scared, he doesn't want to be anyone. He

tries to get back in and still flaps at it and his confidence was shot in

this particular game. He drops it here, no one really around him, and

this is the one they get the penalty from. I'm sure Portugal will have

seen this and they will put a lotto balls in the box. Wearing those big

tracksuit bottoms, I couldn't take him seriously! I wouldn't want to

turn around on the pitch and see my keeper wearing a big baggy pair of

joggers! Where you superstitious -- were you superstitious? I was very,

I never wore boxer shorts on the day of a game... Were you? No, I wasn't.

I used to be, until I worked out it was unlucky! Elsewhere in the

Hungary team, sad -- Dzsudzsak is probably their star

man. He shoots from anywhere, good set plays. He's the one they look to

to open up teams. I like this, he is out wide there and he has that

ability to go past people. I know you like him committee area. I like

him being direct. As a wing at times, that's what you need to do,

take the ball, put your head up and have a go. In that team I guess he's

allowed to do that more than the other guys. To score 40 plus goals

for Eindhoven and win the league along the way, you have to be

special. Also come he can cross the ball early. Good deliveries. He's

obviously the guide for that team and you can see he's enjoying that.

The only thing is, the other lads aren't quite in his wavelength

sometimes. Sometimes he's saying, is it always me or what? Why did you

pour water on your head? I don't know, I just used to do it, water on

my head, splashed everywhere. They would go, Rio, what you playing at?

It was just about doing the same routine every week. As far as

Portugal are concerned, inevitably all the focus going into the game

has entered on renowned low. This will be his 17th appearance at the

Euros, more than any other player in the history of the tournament. So

far he's managed to upset the whole of Iceland, Mr penalty against

-- miss a penalty, and see his team charged when a fan ran onto the

pitch for a selfie with him. Where you too can have the trip of a

lifetime. You will never feel more relaxed. The true meaning of joie de

vivre, the joy of living. France, the meeting point of Europe. From

Well, Ronaldo, despite his slow start, 20 shots, ten blocks, just

hasn't managed to score. He's still making the headlines. He's had a bit

of a spat with a journalist. The team were just having a stroll and a

journalist jumped in and tried to interview him. Ronaldo picks up the

microphone and lobs it in the water. What's wrong with that?

LAUGHTER It's a superstition! He's always a

threat, isn't he? Anyone can have a bit of an spell for two or three

games but at a championships it's difficult, isn't it? It is. To be

fair, his free kicks are not the best but when they're on target

their normally a goal. To be fair, Nani should have scored from that

cross. People will have a go at him because he is Ronaldo and he did not

score the penalty, but he has no right to win this penalty. He is

there. He could have scored there, he didn't. But he is there and

about. You're always going to have the opportunity to score. You can

see a bit of frustration. That's a great, great strike. Good save by

the goalkeeper. Because it's him, people are likely, he still didn't

score, he should have scored this or that, and that's the way it is. But

as I've said before, where is the creativity from midfield? You need a

bit of luck and we've seen him miss penalties. Where is the creativity

of Jau Mario, of Moutinho? The team isn't playing that well. What's

great about him, even though he's not scoring and they have not been

winning the games, it shows kids watching that even though it's not

going your way, you still have to have the personality to go in there

and create chances because many players shy away from that. You

wouldn't want the ball under those circumstances under that pressure.

He wants that responsibility. You wouldn't be surprised today if he

walked out there and banged in a hat-trick, would you? Exactly,

because that's what the best players do, bounce act from criticism. Can

Portugal do this? I think Portugal need to turn up for him to score

goals. You need your team to perform. I think Sanches would have

been a good addition to this team, someone who can run with the ball

and free him up with a bit more space. Interesting, he looks very

serious Camara Nalgo. Can this be his moment? We shall find out. Don't

in them, and why not? They have just got to start turning all of these

one goal to show for it. They have dominated the matches they've

may just have to watch his step. And Portugal with an opportunity here to

put some real pressure on Hungary's goal. Moutinho across on the far

side. He will be looking for better quality than Moutinho gave us in

that first corner. The physical presence of William Carvalho added

in the penalty area as well. Ricardo Carvalho will head towards the far

post. Pepe always in the thick of it on set plays, here we go, Moutinho

with the delivery, and the shot tumbling away from the goal from

Joao Mario. Just technique again. Decent ball in. Only half cleared.

Just needs to keep that down and on target. Better technique required.

It's been a fewer years since we saw Gabor Kiraly in goal for Crystal

Palace, but he's been in excellent form. He was a key player for them

in the play-off win against Norway. Not so convincing there, but his

performance helped his team reach the finals. He has put them in

trouble there, just overdoing it. A slight misunderstanding there

between Moutinho and Joao Mario means that Kiraly gets away with

that one. Adam Szalai up front again, replacing Tamas Kadar.

Szalai's first goal here in France was his first for club or country in

18 months, but here they come, pushing forward now with Adam Lang.

Dzsudzsak. Away from Vieirinha, in towards Szalai, putting real

pressure on Pepe. It is a good ball into the box. Dzsudzsak again with

that little bit of extra quality. Pepe just about getting their in

time. The first corner of the match for

Hungary. Whipped in by Dudek. It was an opportunity there for Juhasz, but

now I wait comes Nani at full told. Hurtling towards Adam Lang. And

his game. He can be a drama queen, as we know, but he has been an

outstanding defender, you can't argue. Formed a good partnership

with Kiraly as well. Car value, Ricardo Carvalho, still going strong

at 38. The oldest ever outfield player for Portugal. First touch for

Eliseu, the Benfica full-back who would love to get forward at any

opportunity. Something Portugal do, push both full-backs really high and

wide. Vieirinha has got up well on this nearside, taking the pass from

Joao Mario. Vieirinha in towards Ronaldo. Chasing after it is Lovren

church. He is unlucky. -- Lovren Clement Ric -- Lovrencic.

That is where Hungary have got to do better coming out. Better technique

again. Keep possession when you get it back. It is very hot here as

well, I wonder if that will change some of the tactics the tempo a

little bit. It doesn't seem to be stopping Portugal. I think at

kick-off time it was still some 30 degrees. Maybe a bit more.

in. You could see what was going to happen about two or three seconds

Portuguese pressure. Still Gabor Kiraly has not really been tested.

There is the intended target, no doubt. Moutinho with the delivery.

Ronaldo. Just about got that right. That's

what Ronaldo does though, just tries to pull off the shoulder of the

defender. Teetering on the edge, trying to gain an advantage.

Much-publicised, of course, the fact he hasn't scored in the opening

couple of matches for Portugal, but his record in the opening matches in

finals is not bad. Six goals in the 14 games before this. It is at the

World Cup where we have not really seen him shine so far.

Nani, by the way, almost up to 100 caps for his country. On 99 now. He

has certainly benefited from playing more regularly the last couple of

seasons, firstly at Sporting, and then in the campaign that has just

finished with Senna but she of Turkey. Nani is capable of great

things, no doubt. Of course he has scored their only goal of the

tournament so far. Just needs to develop that partnership in the

centre with Ronaldo. The pressure now being put on Korhut, who has

come in at left-back today. Lazok very much the back-up to Tamas

All the talk about Renaldo, but for me he's an outstanding. You never

see him shy away from anything. He gets a chance today, no drop in

can face lovely football, Portugal. Semifinalists four years ago.

Switching this ball from side to side, trying to pull Hungary out a

towards Szalai! He again had Pepe at full stretch. That's what they're

going to do when they get the opportunity on the break. Decent

ball income well defended by Pepe. Szalai is a huge man, he has to be

right on his toes. Not quite mobile enough to get away from Pepe, there.

No goals in the other match in the group between Iceland and Austria,

in Paris. Goalless, there. Dzsudzsak delivers the ball. Away by Nani,

Zoltan Gera with the shot and the gold! Zoltan Gera for Hungary! How

about that! What a thunderous drive, low into the net past Rui Patricio.

Portugal are stunned. Hungary lead here in the 19th minute of the game.

And the man who has scored the goal, Zoltan Gera! Well, it's a stunning

strike. He just takes it down, goes into his path and what a strike that

is. It's as sweet as you like off his left foot. Hit like an arrow on

the half volley, beautiful strike. Well, he doesn't normally play as

far forward, he's quite deep lying but at 37 years of age he scored the

winning goal in the Hungarian cup final last month and now he's scored

a big, big goal here. Well, that's really set this game up now. It

shows you, doesn't it, no matter what age you are, if you've got that

technique and the know-how... And now we will see what Portugal are

really made of. It's an early day of reckoning for them, potentially. It

just shows you, if you have that threat and they managed to get a

corner from the little break down the right hand side... They are in

dreamland, Hungary. The ball played on towards Szalai.

Chased down! Rui Patricio was in all sort of trouble there, but gets the

free kick from the challenge from the Hungarian striker. Well, Pepe

put him into trouble there. He was taking liberties trying to chip that

one out. You should be clearing that one long, for me. There's a nice

shape to Portugal but nothing going their way at the moment. There has

been a nice shape all tournament but there hasn't really been the end

product, has there? No, it's not clicking. Here's the goal from

Zoltan Gera. What a drive into the bottom corner of the net. Superb

strike. And at the same time that goal was going in, there was another

-- a goal in the other match in the game between Iceland and Austria in

the Stade de France in Paris, Iceland taking the lead. So, Iceland

leading, Hungary leading, how does that affect the group at the moment?

Hungary still top on seven points if the scores stay like this, Iceland

second on five, Portugal would have two and Austria bringing up the rear

with one. As it stands, England would be playing Iceland in the last

extreme. Population of 330,000, almost the size of Coventry, isn't

it? Here come Portugal looking for an instant response. Halfway through

the first half. That familiar pose, a picture of concentration,

Cristiano Ronaldo... Well, that is now 37 free kicks for the national

team directed at goal without one ending up in the back of the net.

Just not going his way at the moment. There's no smile on his face

like there was the other evening. He didn't look terribly happy when they

went for a team stroll earlier today when the reporter, whoever it was,

started to ask him some questions. Quickly relieving him of his

microphone and despatching it into the lake alongside which the players

were walking. Ronaldo with the touch, to Joao Moutinho. Joao Mario

now, tipped away first of all by... Szalai looks more confident. The

shot brings a save from Rui Patricio. Well, Pepe just falls over

here. It's far too easy. All over the place, Portugal. Certainly

reeling after that goal, having had most of the play in the opening 15

minutes or so. It will be a throw for Hungary. You

can see them growing in confidence, can't you? Szalai running at his

defender. Their tails are up big-time. And why not? They've only

lost two of their last 14 games they've played, and one of those was

against world champions Germany, a week before this tournament started,

they were beaten in Gelsenkirchen by two goals to nil.

The referee just bringing the game back. Interesting now to look for

the leaders in this Portugal team, who is going to grab this game by

the scruff of the neck? We haven't seen Moutinho nearly enough in that

midfield engine room. He normally passes the ball so well. Pepe going

long, and too long, for Ronaldo. If he looks inside, Gomes is available.

Just getting carried away looking for Ronaldo again. He acknowledges

the past, but there's too much on it. For all that Portugal have had

the ball in the final third in and around the penalty area, Gabor

Kiraly hasn't actually had a save to make so far.

No come he hasn't. You wonder whether that belief is starting to

add away -- to ebb away from these Portugal players. Enough experience

out there. Pressure again, this time Pepe is

there waiting for it. Moutinho looking for the run of Nani. He will

get their head of Korhut. Three to aim at alongside him in the middle.

Dzsudzsak back helping out as well. Here is Vieirinha. Trying to think

that one in, and the goal-scorer, Zoltan Gera, sticks his leg out. The

Hungarian defence came up really well there. He would have been

free kick, which Portugal tried to take very quickly. He has time to

give a booking to Roland Juhasz. Well, as it stands, Roland Juhasz

will be OK for a match in the last 16, it's his first yellow of the

tournament. It is, but he won't want to get sent off, will he? Surely.

Will there be a different outcome this time? Kiraly on his toes,

Ronaldo blasts! And saved by Hungary's 40-year-old keeper and

behind for a corner. It's a hell of a long way out, you would almost

expect him to save that at 50! We have seen sometimes perhaps

reputations make those free kicks harder to deal with. Definitely. But

he did well there and concentrated throughout. Moutinho, Kiraly staying

on his line. Carvalho up. Struggling to get the ball away, it was Korhut

who thumped it against one of his team-mates. Moutinho, a little wider

this time. Good, steady player, William

Carvalho. Never looks unhurried in possession. They will need to get

Ronaldo more in the game. I wonder if he will come and play a bit more

central, maybe a free role for him. Coming close to the ball and now

briefly in possession. Moutinho, moving it out to this nearside.

very good line. This is the free kick. He puts lengthier power on it.

Iceland and Austria. Bodvarsson for Iceland. So as it stands England

pile on seven points as it stands. Iceland would be on fire. Portugal

on two, Austria on one. So Portugal in a bit of a hole. We certainly

didn't expect this. I think they are more concerned with their form at

who was a little dozy in possession. Pentad is ever so well. We know

William Carvalho is a very good player. Just sleeping a little bit

player to get them going. They need some inspiration. Pinter, one of

Worked forward beautifully by Carvalho. Joao Mario has swapped

sides here with Andre Gomes. Almost onto the head of Ronaldo. Headed

away. Now Elek. You can't help but think all of these crosses are

playing into the hands of Hungary's central defenders.

Dzsudzsak with a little ball infield. They are playing some

decent football in the first half. And why not? Just keep the ball.

They are in charge. Being very professional. Made plenty of changes

so far, the manager. You will be pleased with what he has seen so

far. He will be a lot happier with Fernando Santos, the way things

stand at the moment. Familiar face on the touchline at European

Championships. He was in charge of Greece four years ago. Took them to

the quarterfinals. And Zoltan Gera, having lost the ball, commits a foul

and gives Martin Atkinson choice but to book him. He knows, Gera. Gomes

was on him in a flash. It is almost a rugby tackle. It is that man

again, I feel, Ronaldo. 11 minutes to go to half-time. Everyone back

behind the ball for Hungary. Right now though, statuesque as ever in

this scenario. Here it comes. Kiraly able to watch it go sailing into the

really opens up. Just doesn't get it right at all. He really thumped the

ball. It is a very difficult skill to get it up and over the wall and

hasn't been as half as busy as he would have been expecting so far in

this game, I'm sure. LSA newcomer one of the two changes

for Portugal today. Really surprised Sanches did not start the game. They

You need those Game Changers, people who run and players. The second

youngest player here, Renato Sanches. A couple of months older

than Marcus Rashford. LSA you surging forward, smart challenge by

Lovrencsics. Everyone is doing their job perfectly in this Hungary and

team. They know their limitations, they do everything very well. Nine

minutes to go to the break, plus any added time. Moutinho with the

corner, the seventh of this first half for Portugal. Corral it was

first to it. You wondered could he catch that. Vieirinha. Ahead of

Ronaldo. Kept in by Moutinho, collected by Joao Mario. Too long.

I just don't understand why he doesn't catch that, it just relieves

all the pressure. Maybe he doesn't trust himself. Ronaldo saying he

wanted at that back post, that cross isn't good enough. From Mario.

News coming through from the other game, the Iceland, Austria match.

Dragovic has just missed a penalty for Austria, so it remains Iceland

1-0 Austria. We will show you that at half-time, along with the girls

that separates the two teams, scored by Bodvarsson. -- the goal that

separates. Portugal, having started very well, if you have just joined

our coverage, having much of the play in the opening 15, 20 minutes.

But Gera with a cracker from outside of the penalty area. They have just

been sloppy, Portugal, in that final third particularly. Not moving the

ball that difficultly. Corporate has slotted into the team really well.

Two points won't cut the mustard for Portugal. They need to dig deep and

find a way back into this match. Joao Mario into Nani. Moutinho.

Trying to get in behind Dzsudzsak. They just haven't got the precision

in their player today. Need to find something from somewhere. Began the

long ball from Pepe, and the long leg of Juhasz. Not taking any

chances with Ronaldo right behind him. Ronaldo keen to have a go

himself. No offside flag, which Hungary were looking for. The flag

is at this time, it won't count. The Portuguese fans thought they had

scored but the flag was raised, way before the ball went into the back

of the net. Just about offside. The linesman has done ever so well.

Portugal taking a short corner. I thought for overboard Ronaldo was

going to hit it. Just seem to lack confidence, came back onto his left

foot. That is Troisi has been caught in possession in the last five

minutes or so. They good ball out wide -- twice he has been caught in

possession. Periodically there's a real threat about Hungary pushing

forward. William Carvalho, typical of the way they have played in the

first time. Almost falling asleep. Too casual. Pepe to the rescue

again. They are almost in a trance, some of these Portuguese players.

Dzsudzsak with the delivery. Lightning did not strike twice there

with Zoltan Gera, but any time the ball drops at his feast within range

of the penalty area, I am sure he will have a crack. They had more

shots from outside of the penalty area, Hungary, than any other team

in the tournament the first two matches played. So we should be

surprised to see them let fly any opportunity they get.

He will be happy to take his time here. Guzmics forward towards

Szalai. Lovrencsics, just a little too robust. Martin Atkinson well

placed. Lovrencsics gives a free kick away. Working hard for his

team. A little nudge forward, into Nani from Ronaldo! 1-1. Nani's

second goal of this European Championship, Portugal back in the

game and potentially back in the competition, with three minutes to

go to half-time! Hungary 1-1 Portugal! This is the reaction we

are asking for, and it comes from Nani. Great finish on his left foot.

He was onto it in a flash. You still feel that you should do better with

that. Beaten by the pace of it. Just waiting for it over his left

shoulder. The keeper will be ever so disappointed to let that one in on

his near post. He just goes down in stages. They were too quick and too

slick. That's what they are capable of. Haven't done enough so far and

then a moment of magic, a short list in defiance, and they are back in

the game. Lovely ball through from Cristiano Ronaldo, dispatched into

the net by Nani. Maybe we will see a different Portugal now. Confidence.

It is a game of confidence. Nani wants more. Goalkick.

A very deep cross. The defenders have got to get tighter, got to get

earlier to him. Just a free run into the box. Nice ball for Ronaldo.

Weighted pass. Kiraly was beaten by the pace of that shot. He was. The

fading years, your reflexes start to go. Just not sharp enough, was he?

Nani unable to quite control. Guzmics gets it away. Pepe.

He manages to give the ball away twice in the space of about five

seconds. Dzsudzsak, Szalai. Attempted ball out, back to Adam

Szalai, and that was worth keeping an eye on! You talk about the shots

they have from distance, and that one was almost grey of the Rovers

star. Just kidding Patricio nice and honest on his line. A handy reminder

for Rui Patricio not to go wandering around too far.

The Portuguese fans trying to lift their team. They are greatly

outnumbered here in the stadium in Lyon. Portugal trying to finish with

a flourish will stop Andre Gomes looking to let fly. Straight into

the midriff of Kiraly. A lot better from Gomes, onto his right foot.

Just the one minute of added time and we're just going into that

minute now. Moutinho with time and space. Last

chance in this first half. Joao Mario, in to Nani. Vieirinha well

forward here, nearside. Portugal finishing be half more

strongly here, with Nani's attempted delivery in here.

William Carvalho. The last few seconds of added time at the end of

this first half. Joao Mario. Challenge by Elek, and Martin

Atkinson blows the half-time whistle. Very interesting first

half, Hungary putting the cat amongst the pigeons with a

thunderbolt from 37-year-old Zoltan Gera 19 minutes in, Nani bringing

Portugal back into the Game three minutes before half-time. All to

play for in the second half at the Stade Lyon. At the break it is

Hungary 1-1 Portugal. This is how things currently stand in Group F.

Hungary are now top of the group just ahead of Iceland, same points.

As it stands, England will play Iceland, the second team in that

group, and Portugal will go through as well. It could change in many

different ways, but actually an exciting first half. It has been an

exciting first half. That's the best case scenario for England, I think

we would take that. I think Portugal will be the happier team going in at

half-time, the confidence they will have got from that goal, the relief

from that goal. It's a good time for them to score. They will be the ones

going out to win this game now. What have you made a bid committee airy?

It was an amazing goal from Gera and I thought Hungary looked pretty

comfortable at times. The way they used the field, Portugal, you saw a

lot of Vieirinha on the right but the left wing was not really

occupied. The only time that Ronaldo went there, he actually made a great

pass. I suppose that's the problem with having Ronaldo on the left-hand

side, he likes to drift in and go wherever he wants to. You end up

being a bit unbalanced. Yes, but that you would then like a

-- you would then like Eliseu to go and occupied that spot. You don't

make them really run and move and it's easier to defend. If you're the

left winger or the striker, you should do it. You occupy the

full-back so there is a bigger space between the full-back and the

centre-half and then Nani has more space to run, like we saw with the

goal. For the team I think they need Ronaldo or the full-back to play a

lot higher to get the other full-back in the Hungary team

thinking at the moment he's in the book, he is narrow, nothing to think

about. They came here with very good Lex pecked age and in this

tournament, Hungary, but have played some good stuff on the

counterattack. Played some really good stuff. Played with confidence.

They've been created. They've been a bit unlucky with some other chances

not to go 2-0 up in the game. Your old team-mate from Fulham scored a

cracking goal, Zoltan Gera. I did a feature on him and showcased his

technical ability. He has scored some cracking goals in his career

but this will be the one he's pleased with the most for his

country. What a half volley. Absolutely fantastic. He's deserved

it with the performances he's put in in this tournament. At that point

they were in cruise control, playing some good stuff. Portugal have been

a huge let down for me and that goal will give them a new lease of life

in the second half. Vital goal, it gets them back into it right at the

right time. Perfect timing. The position Ronaldo took up, it's a

place where he's used to playing all the time for Real Madrid, inside

left. Rerun forces him to make the pass because it's a great run from

Nani, off the shoulder of the defender. He takes it early which I

think surprises the goalkeeper, with his left foot. What I like about the

goal, Andre Gomez making the run and Eliseu and then Ronaldo can pick the

past four Nani. You have to say that the centre bank dropped a bit too

early, he should have stayed online with his back four. We talk about

Ronaldo inevitably. Brilliant assist there but try to that another night

of frustration, largely. Yeah, big frustrations. He's trying hard

enough again. They defended well, Hungary. Well organised. He's trying

to get in there and uses aerial ability. Why does no one in the team

say, enough is enough, let me take one! He is a big-time player, fair

enough, but it's absolutely ridiculous. He runs the show. I

think it says something about his team-mates, maybe they are all in

awe of him a bit and they don't have the confidence to do that. Gareth

Bale does it a little bit of a certain extent at Real Madrid. You

need someone in a team to say listen to me you've missed a load, it's my

turn. There is one thing you can say also come across it! The last one he

had, put it in the box and see if someone can score. Sometimes no one

wants to tell the main man. I would have said it, I know you would have

done it... I wouldn't have been taking it! I would have said someone

else take it! Portugal, you've already mentioned the fact that they

are not getting any width on the left, they are very narrow at times.

It is very narrow. I mean, it's very easy for the Hungary team to defend.

Look at this. The guy is carrying the ball there, Vieirinha, no one in

front of him to play with and if he wants to switch the play, he cannot

switch the play. It's easy to defend. When you play as a team that

are sitting back, so to speak, you've got to put the ball wide, not

necessarily to cross it but to shift the back four and to use them. Keep

probing and then someone has got to make a mistake positionally. When

you attack, make the pitch as big as you possibly can. They are only

playing the width of the box, so it's going to be easy for Hungary to

play. Nani has got two goals now for Portugal, of course. He's been

involved in the play in a position that we're not accustomed to seeing

him particularly. Yeah, he's playing in the striker's position. He could

have scored. But look at Ronaldo's desire there. He's got to get his

head up there. That was a frustration with Nani for me when I

played with him. He had all the ability in the world but sometimes

he'd doesn't see other players. That is frustration from Ronaldo because

he has run 80 or 90 metres to get there. That is a good chance as

well. He's a talented boy. It's the unpredictability of him that

frustrates. I think he's better wide, where he can see things as

he's running with the ball. Upfront he gets a bit lost sometimes, but

fair play, he's got back into it. Let's bring you up-to-date with the

COMMENTATOR: Iceland are enjoying plenty of the ball. Gudmundsson

again, he tried his luck! What a terrific strike. Look at the way the

most of the neutrals inside the ground seemed to have sided with

Iceland. Arnautovic is in here, it's an awful mistake! Arnautovic can't

make Iceland pay, but the Iceland goalkeeper, Al -- Haldorsson, has

got away with one. What was Haldorsson doing?

Started to come for it and went back, there is a chance now, and

there is a goal for Iceland! Turned in by Bodvarsson. It's a great throw

in from Gunnarson. The flick on and then Bodvarsson stretches out with

that right leg and puts it past Almer, who is rooted to the spot.

What a start for Iceland and they deserve it. Gunnarson is actually on

the pitch! 19 minutes played, Iceland 1-0 Austria. That is

Arnautovic. Very calmly plucked from the air by Haldorsson. A good strike

by Arnautovic on his left foot, but Haldorsson covered his near post

extremely well, casual the way he caught it. Dictating play now. Up to

wards Alaba. The referee has given a penalty, would you believe! Holding

is the call against Gunnarson on Alaba. It is Dragovic! Oh! He's

missed it. Massive let off. There you go, all set. Anything could

happen in this second half, who knows. The final set of group games

happens this evening with the Republic of Ireland needing to beat

Italy to go through all stop let's hear from Roy Keane and Martin

O'Neill. You have to be streetwise in this game, you're not out to make

friends. If you think we're in trouble here, then you are. You do

whatever you can to get the right result. If that is fouling the new

foul -- then you foul. It's not a crime. You might get a yellow card,

you might even get a red, or your team might win. Sacrifices. You've

back from this. I think that we've got our own recent memories

ourselves to inspire us, none more so than the night in October time

when we beat the world champions. As much as we'd enjoyed the days that

players know what they have to do and they are ready for it.

Well, the Republic will go through with a win, and they might be helped

by the fact that Italy have won Group E. The Italians will top the

group regardless, having already beaten Belgium, the only side who

can match them on six points. No such qualification worries for

Northern Ireland, they are through. Let's hear from their manager,

Michael O'Neill. Michael, can you sum up your pride in your team,

first of all, that you have made it through to the knockout stages? Yes,

I'm immensely proud of everyone. The players, the staff, everyone that's

contributed to making this tournament what it's been for us.

The association as well. All the staff here in France have done a

magnificent job in the preparation of the torment and the training

camp. The travel, the logistics. So much involved that the tournament,

particularly given this is the first time we've done this for such a long

time and the game has changed dramatically from the last time we

previously do it. I have to thank everyone for what they've done today

because they played a big part in making sure the team has the best

chance possible, and we've repaid that with going to the round of 16

and the players are delighted. They are very tired today, it was a

late-night when the got back from Paris, the flight was delayed and by

the time we got back to our base it was to a. -- it was 2am. France or

Wales in the next round, what is your preference? I don't really have

a preference at this minute in time. In terms of progressing coming you

would obviously look at the two teams and they Wales would give you

a better opportunity for progression, but Wales are having a

good tournament. They won the group and Gareth Bale is playing very

well. We've played them recently as well. We know each other very well.

The French game is a special game because it's here in Lyon and the

host nation, it's always something special when we play the host

nation. The atmosphere will be fantastic in the stadium. Sometimes

backs to the wall but Northern Ireland have got through and they've

done really well to do that. They meet Wales or France in the next

round. They will take anyone, they are delighted to be through. We've

been walking around and there are a lot of Northern Ireland fans

delighted. Can you imagine what it's like back in Northern Ireland? They

must be going crazy, a country that loves football. What they've done

here, these guys will go down in history as greats in a Northern

Ireland shirt. It's becoming the tournament of the underdogs, isn't

it? Northern Ireland, Iceland, Wales winning the group. Everybody. Also

they topped their group in the qualifying, don't forget that. Their

goalkeeper yesterday basically alone allowed them to still be in France!

But the possibility of finishing third gives a lot of opportunities

to countries. They could beat France. Sorry? LAUGHTER

Anything is possible. Please. I went to the game yesterday and the

supporters, they didn't stop the whole way through. Back to our game,

1-1 at half-time, Portugal, are they going to do it? I think they will. I

would like to see them get a bit of a clique. My man, finally! Why have

you been? 50 odd million pounds and he hasn't played more than half an

hour. Let's rejoined the commentators.

COMMENTATOR: There has been a change for Hungary, Zoltan Gera the

goalkeeper going off, and being replaced by Barnabas Bese. Only his

second cap for Hungary. Normally a right back who can also play in the

centre of defence. Playing on the right-hand side here. A little bit

of a reshuffle for Hungary. Great to see Renato Sanches on the field for

the second half. Much hyped, really exciting young player, the

18-year-old. Very much so, and he runs beautifully with the ball. We

needed a lift, watching them in the last couple of games, never mind the

Portuguese team. It has been more of the same tonight. Now they are back

in the game, that half-time team talk would have been very important.

It is all about confidence now for Portugal. A second outing for the

astonishing what we are witnessing. What can Ronaldo do about this now?

tracked by Gomes. This is now Hungary doing ever so well in the

game, certainly working hard for it. Interesting that Dzsudzsak is a

different player when he pulls on the national team jersey for

Hungary. He hasn't had a great time in the last few seasons. He did bury

well at PSV before making a big-money move to Russia. It didn't

work out for him and he's been in Turkey this last season. It's been a

little bit of a hit and miss season for him at his club, but he still

performs match after match for the national team. We saw what it meant

to him when he was celebrating with his fans. It fills you with energy

when you do that, run over to the supporters. Lovely skill initially

from Joao Mario. Just a little reminder that if everything stays as

it is and hungry go on and win the group, they will play the team that

finished second in Group E, which at the moment looks likely to be

Belgium. Portugal are daring to make a change which would be their second

of the match. We're likely to see Ricardo Quaresma, who was left out

of the last game. In fact, he's going to come on now before this

throw in is taken by Eliseu. A player who normally has the word

enigmatic before his name, Quaresma. He is on and Andre Gomes is off. A

bit more with coming onto the pitch now. Gomes playing quite sensually.

They need to get more crosses into the box, Portugal. No real variation

in their play. Here come Portugal again with Nani.

A vital interception made by Bese, the substitute, at the expense of a

corner. It's a great ball by Pepe, look at the pace on this ball,

Nani's touched just letting him down. Portugal just preparing to

take this corner. Here now is Quaresma, first touch of the ball,

what a touch it was too! What a superb headed finish from Cristiano

Ronaldo has his second goal of the game. We talked about Roy of the

Rovers, call it what you want, this fellow just won't be denied. They

rely so heavily on him. Ball into the box, look at the space he has,

he ghosts in there and good direction on the header and they are

back in it. Four goals in the first 17 minutes of the second half. He is

matching Dzsudzsak stride for stride, both with two goals in the

second period. That is a wonderful header. There's no finer sight in

football, for me. He flies through the air and glides it in. No wonder

is picking him up. One of the best headers of the ball in the game and

there is nowhere near him. Fernando Santos, the coach, suddenly looks

pretty smart bringing Quaresma on. His first touch, I think, sending

that ball perfectly onto the head of Ronaldo. It's not surprising, they

needed more balls into the box, more width. While that goal was going in,

there has been a goal in the other match, Austria have drawn level in

Iceland. 1-1 there, as Portugal try to surge forward again.

So, at the moment, as it stands, England would play Portugal in the

last 16 in Nice. But the scoreline is changing so frequently we may not

be time yet, great chance! It has smacked the post! Incredible from

Hungary, as they so nearly regained the lead. It was Elek racing into

the penalty area. It has really opened up here, what a match! Away

goes Ricardo Quaresma. That is Renato Sanches, flag up far side

against Ronaldo. Well, blisteringly quick! It's like a PlayStation game!

It's one end to the other. The officials have done well. I think he

wants that ball earlier, Renaldo. What about that, at the other end of

the field? This ball comes into the box. He does everything right,

there. Carvalho beats him to it. It's a great... Now Bese controlling

the ball, can't quite find Szalai! The defensive cover makes the

challenge and it will be a goalkick for Portugal. Hungary again keeping

Ricardo Carvalho and his defensive colleagues on their toes. Well, you

cannot relax for a moment. Got to keep it tight at the back. There's

enough experience there. So loose, I've never seen so many deflections.

support that came from Ricardo Quaresma, but the decision does not

go Portugal's way this time. He does really well, stays on his feet. Yes,

good call from the linesman. This is Ronaldo flying through the air. The

direction he gets, the power. The timing is perfect. Familiar faces

running the line, Stephen Child and Mike Mullarkey, officials from the

Premier League. Part of the team alongside Martin Atkinson, along

with Michael Oliver and Craig Pawson, who are the additional

Those goal-scoring statistics, Ronaldo on eight for all time in the

European Championships, one ahead of Alan Shearer and one behind Michel

Platini. They will make a change shortly, and Kiraly happy to see

that one bounce away behind the goal. Hungary are now going to make

game here by Hungary, to pick themselves up off the canvas three

times in this game. Having restricted opponents to hardly any

and try and find a fourth goal that would put them ahead for the first

Sanches can't keep the ball in play. Now Hungary will use this

minutes of the game. Still time for a chance or two, as Ronaldo, even by

his standards, pretty optimistic from there. Yes, just a little

tester from distance again. From his left foot this time. He must have

had more shots on golf than half the teams in the tournament put

together. I am sure there is a stat somewhere like that. Never short of

confidence. They are so reliant on this man. England might be relishing

the chance to play against Portugal, looking at the back. No real balance

to their team. It was high and hopeful. Old-style up towards

Nemeth. It is oil Portugal here. They are enjoying all of the

possession in the closing stages of this match. Hungary, it would seem,

now in a position of hanging on for a point. They are already through,

whatever happens, and they were overnight. Sanches roughed up a

little bit thereby Elek. Certainly a lot better but that changes it has

made in this game. Sanches is one of them. You have got to give young

players their head, give them the opportunities. Sanches with a little

lay-off towards William. Thinking that morning. Ronaldo left a little

frustrated in the centre. They look very fluid all of a sudden, passing

it very well there, Portugal. You've got to credit Hungary,

though, the number of changes they have made in this game, they have

made their country proud again. We've got to credit Hungary full

stop. We never thought they would have qualified with a game to spare.

They rich footballing history, of course, Hungary, but it's a long

time ago. Hope for them have a much brighter footballing future. I think

it will inspire other youngsters in their country. The former coach just

before the current incumbent has been saying today that the Hungary

and FAA, all the coaches, all the communities in Hungary really need

to take advantage of the situation now, strike while the iron is hot.

They have faded away for many years but let's hope they are on the way

back. They certainly are in this tournament. Free kick for Portugal

here. Surely he's not going to hit it from

here, is he? Definite foul on him. Yet again from the man who had his

name taken quite a while ago. Fernando sun toss hot under the

collar. As it stands, his team will go through in second place. They are

not definitely in that spot yet. They may still win the game! He

certainly has the look of a man who is about to strike the ball. Surely

it's too far out. Eliseu standing near the ball as well here. But it

is Ronaldo... And he puts it into the crowd. No, it's just not coming

off. We've seen this from him a couple of times in the tournament,

Gareth Bale has got one over his team-mate. But the goals he scored

today, the degree of difficulty... That flick, it was truly

one. And what a header for the second goal. But Hungary still

plugging away. Great effort from them in this game and now the

referee does bring the game back. It got a doodle heated but not for

stands, it will be England next for Portugal. Hungary happy to see the

embers of a cracking game. Hats off to Hungary for the way they've

played here in France and the way they've played this match today.

Remember, they were already guaranteed to be going through

before the match kick-off today. They've led three times against

Portugal. Portugal forced to do it the hard way in terms of

separate occasions, but, led by Cristiano Ronaldo, who else, coming

back each time, Ronaldo with two goals. They've done it with their

squad, the strength of their squad. There may be time for a last

So, we are hearing that Iceland have just scored in the very last seconds

of the game! No confirmation of that just at the moment, which

significantly changes things of course. Here it is. So, this was the

last second. Austria were pushing forward for a goal which could have

taken them through to the knockout stages and needless to say Iceland

counter-attacked and this happened! That is significant in the fact that

who will play England will now play Iceland because of that second goal.

That is a massive difference to playing, I would suggest, Portugal,

who we haven't beaten in a major tournament since 1966. Extraordinary

scenes there. The fourth minute of injury time. It has very much been

the tournament of late goals. Despair for the Austrian fans but

they needed to win to go through and all of a sudden the tournament has

kind of come to life as the stakes have got higher. All four teams, at

the beginning of this afternoon, had the potential to go through. We now

know... What a game, what a couple of games. What excitement. England

against Iceland. A selfish perspective... I think it's lifted

this room for me, for us three. We were thinking we had got Portugal.

It was going to be a totally different game, the Ronaldo factor

entered the fray. To get Iceland, who have sat back and defended in

their own box, is a very different prospect to play against. Also,

Portugal have been very much a bogey side for England. I know you were

saying, why are you bothered about Portugal? Because France always beat

them! We usually beat them, but in fairness, the two games were great

because all four teams could go through. That's why Iceland won,

because Austria had to win to go through. I didn't understand why

Portugal didn't try to win this game. Ronaldo was talking to Joe
