Good afternoon. Welcome to Wembley Stadium for one of the showpiece

:00:39.:00:45.

events of the sporting summer, the Challenge Cup final. Over the past

:00:46.:00:50.

few weeks we've been enjoying the achievements of our Olympians. Our

:00:51.:00:55.

rugby league players follow the same principles.

:00:56.:01:44.

It's a difficult question to answer, because this is a final that is very

:01:45.:01:51.

finely balanced. Hull FC arrived first. Lee Radford, Gareth Ellis

:01:52.:01:58.

leading them off the coach. Then came Tony Smith and his Warrington

:01:59.:02:04.

team, who have such pedigree in the Challenge Cup at Wembley over the

:02:05.:02:10.

last few seasons, and Westwood doing his own Bradley Wiggins. Under that

:02:11.:02:15.

big red screen we are just located right under that, in amongst the

:02:16.:02:24.

fans for the first 20 minutes or so. Wish us luck everybody. We are here

:02:25.:02:29.

surrounded by Hull and Warrington fans. We are by the rugby league

:02:30.:02:35.

statue. John and Brian, if I move you out of the way, you should be

:02:36.:02:41.

able to see the legends. Eric Ashton, Billy Boston and Alex Murphy

:02:42.:02:47.

and Martin Offiah, all commemorated on the statue behind me. No noble

:02:48.:02:52.

inevitable noble, Jon Wilkin or Jonathan Davies as yet, but there

:02:53.:02:56.

might be a new statue in years to come. A whole different purpose for

:02:57.:03:02.

that statue. It certainly wouldn't be as clean and shiny. This is going

:03:03.:03:06.

to be a sensational game. We've got the best two teams in the

:03:07.:03:09.

competition. We've got the most entertaining teams in the

:03:10.:03:14.

competition. If you were to set up a chessboard, the pieces are so

:03:15.:03:18.

similar and committing it might well be down to how they move those

:03:19.:03:25.

pieces. I can't wait for kick-off. There is always a buzz for a

:03:26.:03:33.

Challenge Cup special, but maybe the last two or three years that hasn't

:03:34.:03:38.

been the case. As a player these are things you don't see. You don't get

:03:39.:03:43.

to see the fans and get the sense of the atmosphere and the occasion. The

:03:44.:03:48.

players going through the tunnel don't see anything until the pitch

:03:49.:03:53.

and the beautiful Wembley Stadium. It is so finely balanced. There's

:03:54.:03:57.

such fine margins between the teams. Me, Brian and Jonathan have been

:03:58.:04:02.

talking about it. It is difficult to pick a facet of either side's game

:04:03.:04:05.

that will win the game for them today. Do you still get a buzz or do

:04:06.:04:11.

you worry for your own safety and want to go back indoors? When you

:04:12.:04:15.

come to Wembley it is an amazing place to play. You've got to keep

:04:16.:04:19.

your focus and composure. It is a great day out for the fans. As the

:04:20.:04:23.

boys have said you've got to two best sides in Super League. They are

:04:24.:04:28.

both on top form. It's the power of the Hull pack. It may be against the

:04:29.:04:33.

X Factor of the Warrington players. It is too tough to call. Hopefully

:04:34.:04:38.

it will be a classic. Previous years you think there's a favourite, they

:04:39.:04:42.

are going win. But on this occasion it is so tight to call. Kick-off is

:04:43.:04:47.

at 3 o'clock. This is what we've got coming up in the next hour for you.

:04:48.:04:56.

We'll meet both teams through Hull FC's Frank Pritchard and then Ashton

:04:57.:05:01.

Sims doing a bit of singing with his team-mates in a car in Warrington.

:05:02.:05:09.

And dancing. Brian Noble meets local boy Danny Houghton. And we'll also

:05:10.:05:14.

hear from the Warrington legend that is Ben west wood. Before one of the

:05:15.:05:19.

legends of the game joins at half-time, a man who has lifted this

:05:20.:05:33.

I want to focus on Taylor, Houghton, watts watts, Minichiello and Ellis.

:05:34.:05:46.

It is their strength that you think could be the the key? Absolutely.

:05:47.:05:55.

They feel a buzz, if Bowden and watts they want, have a lot of the

:05:56.:06:04.

ball, but their backs are no smaller. Look at Fonua and Talanoa

:06:05.:06:13.

and you've got pressure which tends to suggest they are trying to play

:06:14.:06:18.

the power game. People don't realise the whole emotion of the week. The

:06:19.:06:22.

players playing Super League aren't used to this. The media attention is

:06:23.:06:27.

bigger. They try and focus on the training sessions and then they have

:06:28.:06:31.

to travel down here. It is important for these players not to get

:06:32.:06:34.

overexcited. It is a tough place to play and the energy levels could be

:06:35.:06:38.

drained in the last minutes of the game. It is a very big side, so

:06:39.:06:42.

they've got to play on the front foot. Let's show you Warrington 17.

:06:43.:06:55.

A greater pace with Warrington? I think so. We've got dynamic guys who

:06:56.:07:06.

run out a dummy half. Ratchford, Sandow, a lot of Warrington's game

:07:07.:07:11.

is built around defences on the back foot. Foot. Once those guys get into

:07:12.:07:17.

that space and exploit that space, it is difficult to defend the

:07:18.:07:21.

players on the back foot as they are so quick. I think Warrington have to

:07:22.:07:30.

play clever, try to attack Sneyd. The Hull pack have dominate sides

:07:31.:07:33.

this year. What's crucial for Warrington is the fact that they

:07:34.:07:37.

have to kick the ball well against this giant Hull pack. They've got to

:07:38.:07:42.

keep turning them around, get them on the roundabout doing circles to

:07:43.:07:48.

use their energy up. Play the ball in and around the ruck. Kicking the

:07:49.:07:55.

ball is important for this Warrington team today. Tony, how

:07:56.:08:00.

nice to be back at recommendably. It is a privilege. Every time we are

:08:01.:08:05.

here, we don't take it for granted, it's been a few years since we've

:08:06.:08:10.

been here but it is nice to be back. It is a special occasion. I have to

:08:11.:08:16.

throw you a statistic. Hull have never won a Challenge Cup final at

:08:17.:08:21.

Wembley. Is that a pain in the backside for you or encouragement?

:08:22.:08:25.

Thank you for reminding me of that! It is irrelevant. This group of

:08:26.:08:28.

players today, it is a new experience, one they are looking

:08:29.:08:32.

forward to massively. Can't wait for the kick-off to arrive. It's been a

:08:33.:08:37.

long time coming since the semifinal, but they've been really

:08:38.:08:39.

good, prepared really well. I think we are going to give ourselves a

:08:40.:08:46.

shot in the arm today. They've pip ?you narrowly both times in Super

:08:47.:08:49.

League. What do you need to do to reverse that? Play for 80 minutes.

:08:50.:08:55.

We need to kick well and defend well. Hopefully some of our flair

:08:56.:09:00.

and attack comes to fruition today and we don't make too many errors. A

:09:01.:09:04.

couple of times when we've played each other both teams have come up

:09:05.:09:08.

with way too many areas. Their kicking game has probably been

:09:09.:09:11.

decisive in the last couple of outings against each other. But

:09:12.:09:15.

every game is different. The weather is holding off and it is warm in

:09:16.:09:20.

here, so hopefully we'll get an open game. Two big sets of forwards and

:09:21.:09:24.

some big outside backs as well, so it should be exciting. It is a huge

:09:25.:09:29.

opportunity and hopefully they'll all embrace that and take it,

:09:30.:09:33.

because it would mean an awful lot for us to take that Challenge Cup

:09:34.:09:39.

back up to Hull. We've beaten St Helens, Catalans and we had a huge

:09:40.:09:43.

effort against Wigan. To knock the second team off in the competition

:09:44.:09:47.

as well, it's going to be duff but it is one we are looking forward to.

:09:48.:09:54.

Good luck. Cheers, Bob. Just to highlight how finely balanced this

:09:55.:10:00.

final is, if we show you current Super 8s table, these two, only a

:10:01.:10:03.

point separating them. Warrington have the best attack and the best

:10:04.:10:07.

defence. Hull have the second best attack and the third-best defence.

:10:08.:10:11.

That just shows how difficult to call this is. I go back to my

:10:12.:10:16.

chessboard. How do you separate them? It is handling the occasion is

:10:17.:10:22.

going be the difference. There's so many good players out there. We'll

:10:23.:10:26.

witness that, witness their prowess on the field. But it is which coach

:10:27.:10:30.

has prepared their team to best handle this occasion will get over

:10:31.:10:34.

the line. Game plans are usually a small part of the day. You get the

:10:35.:10:39.

small parts right, but a really important thing today is the game

:10:40.:10:42.

plans, how the teams organise themselves. Tony Smith mentioned a

:10:43.:10:46.

kicking game. Brian mentioned a kicking game. Without doubt

:10:47.:10:51.

Warrington will be kicking to corners, kick long and turn this

:10:52.:10:55.

Hull team around. But Warrington want to speed that game up.

:10:56.:10:58.

Controlling it might be the focus of both sides They've got to drain the

:10:59.:11:05.

tank of the Hull players. They are a big side. Sneyd is crucial. All the

:11:06.:11:16.

play comes from him. If you look at the big match players, more maybe on

:11:17.:11:21.

the Hull side, but more importantly half-backs of the Warrington are big

:11:22.:11:25.

game players. You've played against both, you are the current player

:11:26.:11:31.

amongst us all. Hoot is the biggest team to play against. I hope the

:11:32.:11:38.

viewers at home would have spot I'm a current player. These two sides

:11:39.:11:44.

are fantastic. The teams are well balanced. Warrington, speed, as

:11:45.:11:48.

Jonathan mentioned, dynamic runners of the ball. Hull, we played Hull in

:11:49.:11:52.

the cup and they were so physical and powerful that day. They

:11:53.:11:55.

destroyed us through the middle of the field. That intimidating power

:11:56.:11:59.

that Hull have could be the keel for them today. The again, very tight.

:12:00.:12:05.

We haven't spoken much about Hull. We've spoken about what Warrington

:12:06.:12:12.

needs to do. Sneyd kicks well. We go back to the Hull team. I think the

:12:13.:12:16.

key for them is the emotional balance and the prowess of Gareth

:12:17.:12:20.

Ellis. If he can get going on the front foot... On a day like today,

:12:21.:12:29.

it is huge. The way they've played, they'll be hoping this game is in

:12:30.:12:34.

the bag with 10 minutes to go. It is like the speed of the Warrington

:12:35.:12:39.

side will kill them in maybe 10 minutes. Give us a wave. Do the

:12:40.:12:46.

proper wave. Come on! The moment's gone! That's how the current Super

:12:47.:12:52.

League is like and how Warrington and Hull have gone. These are two of

:12:53.:12:56.

the great rugby league clubs, with an awful lot of Challenge Cup

:12:57.:12:59.

history. Rock around the clock by Bill

:13:00.:13:16.

Hayley. COMMENTATOR: A record Wembley score

:13:17.:13:38.

of 38-5. Plenty of memories, as we have said,

:13:39.:15:27.

but as we have also alluded to, Wembley Stadium itself does not hold

:15:28.:15:31.

great memories for Hull FC. Although they have won the Challenge Cup

:15:32.:15:35.

before, never at this famous stadium, either in its old or its

:15:36.:15:39.

new guys. Do you really believe that this record affects a modern-day

:15:40.:15:49.

club when you are going back to 1959 and 1960? It shouldn't, but the

:15:50.:15:53.

people that live in Hull are reminded when they go to the shops

:15:54.:16:00.

or for a drink, they go to the other side of the river, they are reminded

:16:01.:16:04.

all the time. For the Hull people, they should not, it is a one-off

:16:05.:16:09.

occasion for themselves, but I am sure they will be reminded of it if

:16:10.:16:12.

they don't get over the Linux Michael Block I don't ever think

:16:13.:16:15.

consciously of it, if it were my team, but we are talking about it

:16:16.:16:20.

now, it may well be in the subconscious of the Hull players,

:16:21.:16:24.

and that can manifest in all sorts of behaviour on the field. I don't

:16:25.:16:29.

think it does, this is a different entity from any game in the season,

:16:30.:16:33.

to get the Cup run, this is a different game. As I said before, it

:16:34.:16:39.

is in London, the fans come down, it brings its own pressure, because it

:16:40.:16:50.

is what it is. Can you honestly tell me if you were playing for Hull

:16:51.:16:52.

today, rather than talking to us, the previous record would not bother

:16:53.:16:55.

you at all? I do not think you would consciously think about it, the

:16:56.:16:58.

message we are sending by talking about it, the media, like you say,

:16:59.:17:03.

fans of rival teams may mention it, it is subconscious. It is more

:17:04.:17:07.

relevant for the players who played in the defeat to Wigan. Probably

:17:08.:17:14.

not, the occasion brings the euphoria among the city. I coached

:17:15.:17:18.

the Bradford side, moving around the city, history does play its part,

:17:19.:17:22.

but it is your job to separate from that, focus on what is in front of

:17:23.:17:27.

them. There is no job that it will be mentioned by somebody, when they

:17:28.:17:31.

bump into people, you have to talk about it, it is nothing to do with

:17:32.:17:37.

us. At St Helens, we lost five Grand Finals on the spin, going to Old

:17:38.:17:43.

Trafford every year, that is in your conscience, you can physically feel

:17:44.:17:47.

the pain, but only a few Hull players have felt that. I can

:17:48.:17:50.

empathise with those guys, but the guys who are new to the system, it

:17:51.:17:56.

doesn't affect them at all. It comes down to mental toughness, you have

:17:57.:18:01.

just got to prepare properly. Some interesting people behind John

:18:02.:18:04.

there! This is how both sides got to the final in the Challenge Cup.

:18:05.:18:15.

Sneyd with a short pass, and over goes Gareth Ellis! And it is a try

:18:16.:18:29.

in the corner, in athletics they'll! -- in athletic style! George King

:18:30.:18:37.

goes in, that is great play from Warrington. And Warrington are

:18:38.:18:43.

scoring another try, it is a hat-trick for George King.

:18:44.:18:53.

Taylor is too strong here, need support, gets it, hooker! -- Dwyer

:18:54.:19:08.

does not need six, he just needs one.

:19:09.:19:24.

He has dropped it, and it is thought by Talanoa! Hull FC are going to

:19:25.:19:34.

Wembley! Here comes Westerman, Sandow goes

:19:35.:19:39.

left again, Atkins steps back inside, Sandow, over he goes! The

:19:40.:19:50.

primrose and blue is back on Wembley Way.

:19:51.:19:54.

There is no doubt, Brian Noble, that Warrington have had an easier run to

:19:55.:20:01.

this final and Hull. They have played big teams as well, so they

:20:02.:20:05.

will be ready. The toughness of Hull's route will stand them in good

:20:06.:20:10.

stead. More importantly, they know they can come back from any

:20:11.:20:13.

situation and score points. Warrington will feel the same,

:20:14.:20:18.

because if they get themselves behind, they know they have the

:20:19.:20:22.

arsenal and prowess in their ranch to get back on terms. Warrington's

:20:23.:20:29.

semifinal and Hull's semifinal were completely different, against Wigan

:20:30.:20:34.

for Hull, very tight, but Warrington's was a blow out score.

:20:35.:20:37.

They played fantastic, they did all they could do, and I do not think

:20:38.:20:43.

that will influence their confidence. Last week, the roles

:20:44.:20:48.

were reversed, Hull had the easy game. As I said before, this is

:20:49.:20:52.

totally different, you come prepared. Whoever plays to the best

:20:53.:20:56.

of their ability wins the game. They are contrasting sides. If it all

:20:57.:21:02.

goes to plan, Hull will play how they have played, but you have got

:21:03.:21:05.

that X Factor with Warrington, they may have to play that card today.

:21:06.:21:10.

For the moment, thank you very much, we will meet the teams later. Thank

:21:11.:21:15.

you to Frank Pritchard and Ashton Sims, but we are going to focus on

:21:16.:21:20.

the special day for 32 fans who are putting together a quiet courtesy of

:21:21.:21:25.

Songs Of Praise, they are going to seeing Abide With Me prior to the

:21:26.:21:30.

game, and Tanya Arnold is down there with them and some familiar faces.

:21:31.:21:35.

I am indeed, I have dived very nervous singers representing their

:21:36.:21:40.

clubs, I am guessing the two in the middle are even more nervous! And we

:21:41.:21:44.

have got Aled Jones and Lizzie Jones, you have been putting the

:21:45.:21:48.

guys through their paces, what were they like? It was me that was

:21:49.:21:53.

nervous! No, it is going to be fantastic, 32 people who have never

:21:54.:21:57.

sang in Wembley before singing Abide With Me, it doesn't get better than

:21:58.:22:02.

that. You only got them this morning, what NUT to them? We have

:22:03.:22:08.

had Martin Offiah saying, do not be nervous, seize the moment, sing,

:22:09.:22:12.

enjoy it. I have been doing this since I was nine years old, but what

:22:13.:22:17.

an occasion, enjoy it, it will be over before you know it. If you are

:22:18.:22:24.

nervous, what is it like for them?! They are here to enjoy it, the

:22:25.:22:28.

atmosphere is brilliant, imagine what it will be like at kick-off, we

:22:29.:22:32.

are going to have a really good time, we are ready. Fingers crossed!

:22:33.:22:37.

Lizzie, you reduced most of us to tears with your wonderful rendition

:22:38.:22:40.

last year, that must still be so vivid in your mind. Yeah, it is

:22:41.:22:46.

vivid and a blur as well, the feeling of walking out, I do not

:22:47.:22:51.

think I will ever lose. A special, special moment, just needs to take

:22:52.:22:55.

it in and enjoy it. What advice have you been giving these guys? Just

:22:56.:23:01.

stated in, enjoy it, smile, breathe, deep breaths. What has it been like

:23:02.:23:09.

for you to be involved? Special, very special, 32 deserving, special

:23:10.:23:13.

people, the stories were so wonderful. And still have 32 clubs

:23:14.:23:18.

represented at the Challenge Cup final by people that deserve to be

:23:19.:23:25.

here is wonderful. How old are you, for a start off? 12. How are you

:23:26.:23:32.

feeling? A bit scared, but excited. You while representing Keighley

:23:33.:23:37.

Cougars, give us a little bit of information about yourself. Well, I

:23:38.:23:44.

am doing this for my grandad, Neil Spencer, because he used to be very

:23:45.:23:49.

involved with Keighley Cougars, with the directors, and he had to stop

:23:50.:23:53.

because of memory problems. So I am making another memory for him. He is

:23:54.:23:59.

going to be so proud of you. Enjoy your day. We spoke to you when you

:24:00.:24:03.

found out that you had got it, when we were over at Warrington, now it

:24:04.:24:10.

is here, how are you feeling? Nervous, excited, tearful, so

:24:11.:24:15.

emotional. I can't put it into words, really. Then you have got a

:24:16.:24:20.

rugby league game to watch! Even more nerve wracking! Good luck! And

:24:21.:24:25.

you are supporting your team, Hull FC, what has the process been like

:24:26.:24:32.

for you? Can't hear you. What was it like this morning? It was amazing,

:24:33.:24:38.

walking out here, the feeling inside, it was absolutely

:24:39.:24:42.

marvellous, so exciting. I have just nearly cried and now, seeing them

:24:43.:24:47.

coming out of the tunnel. Two gentleman, you are representing

:24:48.:24:55.

Bradford and badly. I am Terry, I have made it down, what a wonderful

:24:56.:24:59.

day, what a spectacular place this is. Rome has got nothing on this,

:25:00.:25:05.

this is better than the Colosseum! Fantastic, the feeling you get here.

:25:06.:25:10.

It is incredible, awesome, what else can I say? Wonderful, wonderful, I

:25:11.:25:20.

am glad to be here. It is fascinating to be here, we have

:25:21.:25:23.

worked very hard as a choir as well, we have worked really hard to

:25:24.:25:26.

prepare, it is a dream come true for me. I have been coming here since

:25:27.:25:32.

1958, I never thought I would be out here. I am really pleased and

:25:33.:25:37.

honoured, thank you. We look forward to hearing you all, good luck!

:25:38.:25:43.

Well, Abide With Me is always a spine tingling moments, and we look

:25:44.:25:47.

forward to hearing that before the game gets under way. Jonathan, you

:25:48.:25:51.

are going to leave us, how do you see this going? It is a tough call,

:25:52.:25:56.

both sides, you know, are playing well. Hull are really, really

:25:57.:26:02.

looking solid, powerful upfront, Sneyd is controlling things. But

:26:03.:26:07.

they are the power, and you have got Warrington, you know, maybe with the

:26:08.:26:11.

ex factor, so it is a tough call. None of the fans are really thinking

:26:12.:26:18.

he was going to win, I think it could go down to the last ten

:26:19.:26:21.

minutes, see who has got energy in the tank. You still haven't given me

:26:22.:26:25.

a prediction, and I wonder whether it is you are surrounded by

:26:26.:26:29.

Warrington and Hull bans! On the form, you have to go with Hull.

:26:30.:26:36.

Jonathan is now going to go and take his place in the commentary box. I

:26:37.:26:42.

will tell you what we are going to do, you are told will not have a

:26:43.:26:45.

chance to meet the teams, so we will look at both set up teams, we will

:26:46.:26:50.

start with Hull FC, and their guide is Frank Pritchard.

:26:51.:26:59.

I am Frank Pritchard, welcome to Hull FC's training ground, I will

:27:00.:27:03.

take you in and show you around. Pritchard, Frank the tank is over

:27:04.:27:11.

the line! The only man I know that brings a TV camera to training! Few

:27:12.:27:19.

words, man? I am always looking after you, Frank. What is for

:27:20.:27:23.

dinner, mate? Meatballs! That guy walking in the room... This

:27:24.:27:53.

is Apollo Creed, why are you so tight? Island from the best, mate.

:27:54.:28:01.

-- island. Any words of wisdom you want to share with us? Carlos is

:28:02.:28:12.

on there four times a day, I can't get an! The coaches here too, can

:28:13.:28:27.

you zoom in on that?! I am Donald Trump, I do what I like, US

:28:28.:28:39.

presidential candidate. Here he is! Stop flexing, mate! Come here,

:28:40.:28:52.

kebab. # He loves his kebab is... #

:28:53.:29:05.

Everybody is happy around here, mate. What would it be like for you

:29:06.:29:16.

to win the Challenge Cup? Massive. We've never won at Wembley. That

:29:17.:29:20.

would be unbelievable. Can't wait to get on the field with you. Thanks

:29:21.:29:33.

guys, cheers. Thanks to Frank Pritchard for doing that. The Hull

:29:34.:29:40.

players are on the Wembley pitch going through their pre-match

:29:41.:29:47.

routines. As we can see, with Frank TV, having fun and relaxing before

:29:48.:29:51.

the big match today is extremely important. As you can see, we are

:29:52.:29:54.

blessed that we've had the opportunity to come inside the Hull

:29:55.:29:58.

FC changing room before they kick off the game. The boys have arrived.

:29:59.:30:03.

They've got a timeline of activities they need to do before kick-off.

:30:04.:30:08.

Stretching equipment is here. All the players are getting ready. A

:30:09.:30:15.

couple of the boys, some guys like to get ready in 20 minutes, others

:30:16.:30:19.

like to get ready and hour-and-a-half before the game. One

:30:20.:30:24.

of the most outstanding Super League players this year is Gareth Ellis.

:30:25.:30:28.

He is a little long in the tooth but he is well prepared. How has the

:30:29.:30:32.

team prepared this week? Obviously you weren't part of Frank's filming

:30:33.:30:38.

but everyone was having a lot of fun, enjoying yourself and relaxing

:30:39.:30:41.

this week has got to be important. Massive. We've spent a lot of time

:30:42.:30:47.

this week. We've been staying in a hotel for a few days. Just trying to

:30:48.:30:51.

stay as relaxed as possible. It is easy to get caught up in the emotion

:30:52.:30:57.

of this game. Controlling those emotions is easier said than done.

:30:58.:31:03.

The lads are ready to go. Have you noticed a difference today? The day

:31:04.:31:07.

of the game everyone wakes up a little more keyed up? Definitely.

:31:08.:31:11.

Everyone has had a spring in their step all week. Probably thinking of

:31:12.:31:16.

this game in the back of their minds for a few weeks. There is no

:31:17.:31:21.

embarrassment in that. There's been a stillness and quietness about the

:31:22.:31:25.

lads. I think that's just part of the day, knowing how important it is

:31:26.:31:28.

to everybody. Thank you, and the best of luck. Thank you very much.

:31:29.:31:36.

So that is Hull. As for Warrington, the Fijian international Ashton Sims

:31:37.:31:40.

is experiencing the Challenge Cup final for the first time and he is

:31:41.:31:45.

going to introduce us to some of his Warrington team-mates. Just to

:31:46.:31:48.

reiterate, because it is very important, this was filmed on a

:31:49.:31:53.

private road under full supervision, and he only drove at 1 mile an hour.

:31:54.:32:00.

Hey guys, Ashton Sims here from Warrington Wolves. This is a bit of

:32:01.:32:11.

our car karaoke, here's Metallica. Sleep with one eye open, gripping

:32:12.:32:24.

our pillow tight. It's a pleasure to be in your company. This is a

:32:25.:32:32.

special. Stevie Wonder, baby. Like a fool I went and stayed too long. I

:32:33.:32:47.

think Sandy is there at the moment. Ooh baby, here I am, signed, sealed,

:32:48.:32:53.

delivered, I'm yours. Most fashionable? I will tell you what,

:32:54.:32:59.

there's a couple of fashionable dudes in this car. These are just my

:33:00.:33:13.

dog walking pants. Champion, champion, champion. Come on, boys,

:33:14.:33:20.

you know this song. Everybody knows we are a champion. Lineham line,

:33:21.:33:27.

common sense-wise, but he isn't brilliant. He is book smart not

:33:28.:33:35.

street smart. He can boil an egg but not split the at Tom. Describe each

:33:36.:33:41.

member in the car in three words. Big, tough and durable. Good

:33:42.:33:52.

looking, ugly. Smart. Cheers, boys. I'm doing my giraffe dance. I can

:33:53.:33:57.

feel it coming in the air tonight. This is my first final. I've played

:33:58.:34:03.

1 years now. For it to happen this year would be unbelievable. How you

:34:04.:34:09.

doing? Good? I've been lucky enough to win it the first year I was at

:34:10.:34:13.

Warrington. It is something I want to experience again and get that

:34:14.:34:20.

feeling again. I can fight coming in the air tonight... I'm looking

:34:21.:34:25.

forward to creating history with my mates. So, following up on the

:34:26.:34:38.

relaxed Warrington Wolves karaoke. The boys are getting a little bit

:34:39.:34:42.

serious, reading about themselves in the programme. They are going to

:34:43.:34:45.

focus on the massive job in front of them. Everybody has their own

:34:46.:34:51.

changing room locker. Matthew Russell's there, and Reece Evans.

:34:52.:35:00.

Kurt Gidley, you've played in amazing games Down Under. You've

:35:01.:35:03.

been there, done that. How important is it for you to play in this

:35:04.:35:08.

Wembley Cup Final? Oh mate, it's one of the biggest experiences of my

:35:09.:35:12.

life, to be honest. This is my first experience of a Cup Final. To play

:35:13.:35:18.

in a ground like Wembley, an iconic ground around the world. World. I'm

:35:19.:35:23.

excited. Positive. We are all pretty pumped up now. Do you feel extra

:35:24.:35:28.

pressure because this is your first major Cup Final? I don't think so.

:35:29.:35:32.

The only thing that changes is more effort in the tough areas. We are up

:35:33.:35:37.

against a tough team. We have both been consistent throughout the year.

:35:38.:35:41.

We sit one and two on the ladder, so we expect a tough game ourselves. I

:35:42.:35:45.

don't think there is any extra pressure. It is just about more

:35:46.:35:51.

effort for your team-mates. That's what wins the big games. Kick well,

:35:52.:35:57.

keep chasing, and defend well that. Cycle. Whoever does that best will

:35:58.:36:03.

become the cup winners. All the best and good luck. Thank you. I have to

:36:04.:36:07.

say normally when you do big sporting events it takes a while for

:36:08.:36:11.

the stadium to fill up. A lot of people are outside or on the

:36:12.:36:15.

concourse until the last possible minute enjoying the food, the drink

:36:16.:36:22.

and the atmosphere. This I would say is already half full at Wembley

:36:23.:36:28.

Stadium. Myself and Brian are come in to our inside studio, where Jamie

:36:29.:36:32.

Peacock has been. You were down there a year ago. It has filled up

:36:33.:36:37.

early hasn't it today compared to previous years? It feels a special

:36:38.:36:41.

atmosphere down there. I think people are expecting a great game,

:36:42.:36:45.

that's why. It is a privilege to play in the game. Tommy Smith said

:36:46.:36:50.

one competition that's lasted three centuries. It started in 1897 so it

:36:51.:36:57.

is a great privilege to play in it. That anticipation and excitement, a

:36:58.:37:03.

cracker. When we heard Ashton Sims talking in the car between the music

:37:04.:37:08.

about he's had a 13-year career and what this is going mean to him, even

:37:09.:37:11.

last year at the end of your career, and you've been in the game a long

:37:12.:37:16.

time, did you feel nerves when you came out? Not nerves, no nerves,

:37:17.:37:21.

because it is about nailing the game plan, what you've got to do for the

:37:22.:37:27.

team, making sure you get 9 out of 10 personal performance and then you

:37:28.:37:31.

can enjoy it. I thought, this is what I'm paid to do, it is what I'm

:37:32.:37:36.

good to do, playing rugby league. If you asked me to dance or sing, I

:37:37.:37:43.

would be nervous. But with rugby I'm good at doing it. Is it the

:37:44.:37:48.

anticipation? I would say it's knowing that you are playing in such

:37:49.:37:53.

a showcase event. Knowing that 70,000 or 80 tow people are here.

:37:54.:37:58.

Winning be so great. It is so enjoyable, but losing hurts like

:37:59.:38:02.

hell. It is the worst feeling there is but winning is absolutely

:38:03.:38:05.

beautiful. I think Jamie's experience through the years has

:38:06.:38:10.

helped him prepare and use that excitement rather than nervousness.

:38:11.:38:13.

There are young players on each team here now and it would be to the

:38:14.:38:18.

likes of the Ashton Sims that's played in big games or the Gidleys,

:38:19.:38:24.

Gareth Ellis or anybody that's reinforce the coach's message. You

:38:25.:38:28.

need to enjoy this, use this excitement and go for the game. As a

:38:29.:38:33.

senior player, all the younger players look up to you and you have

:38:34.:38:38.

to be confident in what you do and exude that in and around the

:38:39.:38:41.

dressing room in your body language and demeanor. That will rub off on

:38:42.:38:45.

the team. I might ask you to go and sing and dance down there later.

:38:46.:38:52.

Let's focus on Danny Houghton, the man who is going to make Hull FC

:38:53.:39:00.

tick this afternoon. Brian went to meet him. The season so far, top to

:39:01.:39:04.

which Super League, a Challenge Cup final. What's been the difference

:39:05.:39:10.

this year? I think the group we've got together, we've signed some

:39:11.:39:13.

fantastic players and they've brought a lot to the squad in terms

:39:14.:39:18.

of making it more of a family club, it really shows on the field. The

:39:19.:39:25.

quality of your squad and all them youngsters, all them Hull kids. You

:39:26.:39:28.

are born and bred here, does that make a difference to the team? When

:39:29.:39:33.

you are born here you strive extra, that 1% to get your club you have

:39:34.:39:37.

supported all your life over the line. Probably 10 or 12 blokes from

:39:38.:39:42.

Hull. It is a massive plus for the team. You know them Rovers fans...

:39:43.:39:50.

They love it don't they. They can't, you'll never win at Wembley. The

:39:51.:39:55.

last time you did win it was 2005. Yeah, at Cardiff. It wasn't at

:39:56.:40:00.

Wembley. How do you preach this one, what will get you over the line this

:40:01.:40:06.

time? This season we've been behind the scoreboard with 10 or 5 minutes

:40:07.:40:10.

to go, we are still confident we can get the result. We've got a winning

:40:11.:40:15.

mentality about it. Winning breeds winning.

:40:16.:40:20.

COMMENTATOR: A beautiful try! An unbelievable side in the '80s. They

:40:21.:40:26.

had a great Kiwi contingent. Tell me about your band of brothers. I think

:40:27.:40:32.

they bring unity and the camaraderie around the place it is always up. If

:40:33.:40:40.

it's down, Big Frankie, he jumps on board and makes sure the boys have a

:40:41.:40:46.

spring in their step. But your form has been highlighted this year. What

:40:47.:40:49.

do you think is the difference in your game? To have a pack like we've

:40:50.:40:55.

got and to get us on the front foot, that's a hooker's dream to play on

:40:56.:40:58.

the front foot. I love attacking and creating tries and opportunities for

:40:59.:41:04.

people. A man of steel nominations have been tied and I've got to lock

:41:05.:41:08.

new the changing room, you and Gareth Ellis, and the winner comes

:41:09.:41:12.

out. He wins every time. Have you seen the size of him? His hands are

:41:13.:41:18.

bigger than my head! From hooker to hooker... I want to play really well

:41:19.:41:25.

against Daryl Clark. If I can get the number, I'm sure I will us us

:41:26.:41:31.

into that result. Hopefully I can lift that trophy. A blast, mate.

:41:32.:41:38.

Thank you. And to tell us the how he thinks they are going to play today,

:41:39.:41:44.

Robbie with the Hull FC game plan. This is it. This is what it's all

:41:45.:41:50.

about. Wembley Stadium, the two best teams in the Super League going head

:41:51.:41:53.

to head. The conditions are brilliant today. This is the type of

:41:54.:41:58.

day you want to play on. How are Hull going to go about their job

:41:59.:42:06.

today? These boys have some of the most powerful players in the Super

:42:07.:42:11.

League. The man I want you to keep your eye on today is this man, Danny

:42:12.:42:15.

Houghton. He is the smallest player in the pack but he is devastating

:42:16.:42:21.

once he plays the ball. He can run out and cause disruption to all the

:42:22.:42:27.

players. If they do their job well they'll cause problems. Other

:42:28.:42:48.

players, big across your back, this is Mahe Fonua. A powerhouse. I will

:42:49.:42:54.

see if I can grab him. How have preparations gone today, are you

:42:55.:42:58.

looking forward to this game? I've had a great week's training. The

:42:59.:43:03.

boys are ready for it. How important is it to Hull to get a win today? It

:43:04.:43:09.

is huge. We won the Challenge Cup in the past but not at this stadium.

:43:10.:43:16.

All the best, and good luck to you. Thank you. Brian Noble used to be

:43:17.:43:27.

Robbie's coach. Danny Houghton will be wearing the player mic for us

:43:28.:43:31.

today, and Daryl Clark will be doing the same for Warrington. That's

:43:32.:43:35.

going to be a fascinating listen over the course of the next 80

:43:36.:43:39.

minutes. But as regards them taking each other on, that's going be even

:43:40.:43:45.

more fascinating. It epitomises what I've been talking about in the Hull

:43:46.:43:49.

build-up. They are both similar in what they do. If they can get on the

:43:50.:43:54.

front foot they are going to run out a dummy half. With false prowess and

:43:55.:44:00.

the bigger size, Danny's offensive game, Lee Radford has helped him, he

:44:01.:44:04.

is more dangerous and smarter. That's not being disrespectful.

:44:05.:44:07.

Disrespectful. He knows when the hand the ball on and when the run.

:44:08.:44:12.

Run. We can see Houghton's process. Organises his feet well and explodes

:44:13.:44:19.

out of the dummy half. He has Leon Pryce on this occasion and finishes

:44:20.:44:23.

the there. Any opportunity, he's is going to take the metres. He showed

:44:24.:44:29.

these skills last year because the pack didn't have the power, but this

:44:30.:44:34.

year they've got the power. He's been known in Super League for his

:44:35.:44:39.

defensive work but this year his offence is to the fore. Had is an

:44:40.:44:42.

athlete. As quick as they come. , he is getting a bit of a rest

:44:43.:45:01.

these days, with the wire coming from the bench, which makes an even

:45:02.:45:09.

more dangerous around dummy half. -- Dwyer. Going around him, using his

:45:10.:45:17.

pace, but this is a very draining game, and his speed and athleticism

:45:18.:45:21.

in the second half will be vital to Warrington. From a neutral point of

:45:22.:45:26.

view, to see how they both developed this season can only be pleasing. It

:45:27.:45:35.

is great for England, we have got four strong candidates pushing for

:45:36.:45:40.

the place. As coach, I would not want to pick which two will make the

:45:41.:45:46.

England setup, one is potentially going to be an RL. Houghton has been

:45:47.:45:51.

massively impressive for this impressive Hull team. Speaking to

:45:52.:45:57.

him earlier, he always plays at least seven out of ten, in his worst

:45:58.:46:04.

games. We can move onto a Warrington player now who is absolutely loved

:46:05.:46:07.

by his home fans, that is Ben Westwood, a stall what of this

:46:08.:46:12.

Warrington team, and our very own stall what, Ben Woods, met him last

:46:13.:46:14.

week. Super Bennie Westwood, do you enjoy

:46:15.:46:44.

that? It is not bad, is it? I will take it as it comes. This is your

:46:45.:46:51.

club, your first club. I have loved it here, I have been here 14 years

:46:52.:47:00.

now, and I am a proud Yorkshireman, I came to make a go of it over in

:47:01.:47:04.

Warrington, my kids have been brought up here, so it is a special

:47:05.:47:09.

place for me. In your early days, you were a centre, do you prefer

:47:10.:47:16.

being in the middle of things? I was always going to be a forward, I have

:47:17.:47:21.

worked my way in from the back row, now into the middle, and when all

:47:22.:47:25.

these wingers are moaning they are tired, remember that I used to play

:47:26.:47:29.

there, I know exactly what they are feeling like and they are not tired

:47:30.:47:33.

at all, they are just lazy! It is all part of the game, I like getting

:47:34.:47:39.

in the mix of everything. You are involved with the fans quite a lot.

:47:40.:47:43.

You took one young lads to his graduation party. I did, yes, I got

:47:44.:47:48.

asked to do that, and I have seen a couple of times, a special date made

:47:49.:47:55.

special for him. I am proud to be part of something like that. This is

:47:56.:47:59.

your fourth Challenge Cup final, so what are your special memories of

:48:00.:48:04.

the previous three? The first one was special, and it was weird,

:48:05.:48:08.

because Warrington had not been there for 34 years, and the town

:48:09.:48:13.

went at slickly crazy. It was an experience we had not experienced

:48:14.:48:20.

before, and the following year was special, my daughter was the mascot,

:48:21.:48:23.

so I managed to get on the podium when I was not supposed to, and I've

:48:24.:48:27.

got a photo of us lifting trophy together. That is especially, for

:48:28.:48:33.

that reason. This promises to be a real classic. Definitely, and with

:48:34.:48:39.

the way Hull have been playing, they have done us twice already this

:48:40.:48:43.

year, hopefully it will be one of the classics. We have got the best

:48:44.:48:53.

squad since I have been here, I am just in it by the skin of my teeth,

:48:54.:48:57.

so a chance to enjoy it, hopefully this will be the year for us. And a

:48:58.:49:04.

few minutes ago, Jon Wilkin was in the middle of the Warrington warm up

:49:05.:49:09.

to talk us through their game. Huge privilege to walk out and it is

:49:10.:49:13.

Wembley pitch, beautiful turf, the amazing atmosphere, all of the fans

:49:14.:49:18.

travelling down from the north of England to celebrate the Challenge

:49:19.:49:22.

Cup final. This Warrington team has been built on playing quickly, they

:49:23.:49:28.

play quickly through Ben Westwood, through King, Ashton Sims, through

:49:29.:49:33.

Chris Hill, number eight, and that speed that they create is for the

:49:34.:49:38.

likes of Matty Russell, Chris Sandow to take advantage of. Gidley will be

:49:39.:49:42.

taking on the front foot, loads of experience from NRL, watch out for

:49:43.:49:47.

him kicking into the corner, trying to turn the Hull team around. He is

:49:48.:49:52.

a leader for this Warrington team. Away from that, we have got the guys

:49:53.:49:57.

who take advantage of space, and we have got one of them here, Stefan

:49:58.:50:02.

Ratchford, we will try to grab a quick word. Huge day for you, are

:50:03.:50:08.

you excited? Massive day, no big day in the rugby league calendar, it is

:50:09.:50:15.

a great day for us. How amazing is your support, Warrington? No matter

:50:16.:50:19.

where we go, they are always there in numbers, today is no different.

:50:20.:50:27.

All the best. Cheers. And there are fascinating match-ups

:50:28.:50:31.

across the pitch here, and if we focus on Stefan Ratchford and his

:50:32.:50:35.

battle with Jamie Shaul at full-back, I know you are conscious,

:50:36.:50:39.

because we have had this conversation before, that you do not

:50:40.:50:43.

build people up too soon, but this battle is an interesting one. It is

:50:44.:50:47.

a great one, Jamie Shaul has been progressing nicely, you can see he

:50:48.:50:53.

is a great tackle breaker, clean breaks as well. Stefan Ratchford is

:50:54.:50:58.

a different type of football, more natural, instinctive. More of an

:50:59.:51:02.

athlete, Jamie Shaul. The one thing Jamie Shaul is going to do is get on

:51:03.:51:06.

the end of everything, like every good full-back. He has got

:51:07.:51:09.

blistering speed, they go through their hands a lot in the back row,

:51:10.:51:13.

and he will be in a situation where they have to stop him. He has got

:51:14.:51:23.

the knowledge of how to get to the breakdown as quick as he possibly

:51:24.:51:25.

can, he gets it on the front foot, picking up the pieces line-out break

:51:26.:51:28.

early in the year, and he has got decent footwork, we have seen him do

:51:29.:51:32.

this many times. He has been a key part of why Hull has played well,

:51:33.:51:37.

same as Ratchford. Jamie Shaul has not quite got that in his game yet,

:51:38.:51:42.

a great player is Ratchford. One of those plays that Tony Smith says has

:51:43.:51:47.

to be on the team sheet, can play pretty much anywhere. He does not

:51:48.:51:50.

like speed, he will run out at dummy have to get

:51:51.:51:55.

the team moving forward, really good pair of hands. A lot of people

:51:56.:52:01.

watched just the Challenge Cup final on the BBC, they come to this

:52:02.:52:05.

showpiece event, they may not have seen the build-up, so when Tony

:52:06.:52:09.

Smith talks about putting Ratchford on the team sheet, because he is

:52:10.:52:14.

such a gifted player, can that be a disadvantage to him sometimes? Only

:52:15.:52:20.

for him, but not for the team. For the team, it is a great asset,

:52:21.:52:25.

because in rugby league, to have a player who is that versatile, can

:52:26.:52:30.

cover a number of positions, nine, 13, six, seven, there is no position

:52:31.:52:37.

he cannot cover. One thing for Ratchford this year, he is

:52:38.:52:43.

comfortable at full-back, his coaches comfortable within there, he

:52:44.:52:47.

can change the game from there, he has got good vision, and he can make

:52:48.:52:53.

a play for the team. We can do like overemphasise where he is and is

:52:54.:52:56.

not, but he is in a comfortable position.

:52:57.:52:59.

When we were outside on Wembley Way and you were back in here, Jamie, it

:53:00.:53:06.

has been noted! Not a team player! We were discussing the power of the

:53:07.:53:11.

Hull forwards, you have been in many AIPAC, is there really that much

:53:12.:53:16.

difference between the Hull and Warrington players, the size and

:53:17.:53:23.

strength? -- many a pack. I don't think so, these two sides, they are

:53:24.:53:28.

one and two in the league. When Hull have got on top of teams, they have

:53:29.:53:33.

been devastating, they put 50 points on St Helens, who have been a good

:53:34.:53:40.

side. On the back of that, their kicking game has been great.

:53:41.:53:42.

Everyone talking about the Hull power game, it is like a red ripe to

:53:43.:53:49.

a Bull for him, and Chris Hill, I think he is the best prop in the

:53:50.:53:55.

country. Let's look at the Warrington line-up, Ashton Sims,

:53:56.:53:59.

State of Origin, Fiji international, Chris Hill, one of the best front

:54:00.:54:03.

row players in the world, then a bloke called Ryan Bailey coming from

:54:04.:54:08.

the bench, the most successful Challenge Cup player, six finals and

:54:09.:54:12.

his belt. He does not like aggression, what is Ryan Bailey

:54:13.:54:16.

coming up the bench going to be like? And Sneyd-Sando will be very

:54:17.:54:24.

interesting. Their kicking will be very interesting, it is a full-size

:54:25.:54:30.

pitch, kicking needs to be very good. We are hope we are in for one

:54:31.:54:35.

of the best Challenge Cup finals of many a year, someone is going to

:54:36.:54:36.

write their name into history. He is going to have a drop, and it

:54:37.:54:59.

is a goal! And he has made it! As good a try as you will see!

:55:00.:55:07.

What a fabulous try by Chris Hicks! It is one of the great Wembley

:55:08.:55:19.

dries! We are set for a moment as 80

:55:20.:55:30.

minutes ahead, and this is what they are all playing for, the Ladbrokes

:55:31.:55:35.

Challenge Cup, which is being brought on by three members of the

:55:36.:55:40.

Armed Forces, Warrant Officer nick or, from the Royal Engineers, the

:55:41.:55:44.

brother of Castleford Tigers coach Danny, Senior Aircraftman George

:55:45.:55:53.

Andrew, and Daniel Johnson from the Royal Navy. And as much as the

:55:54.:56:02.

trophy is part of the tradition, so is Abide With Me. For the first

:56:03.:56:07.

time, the Songs Of Praise rugby league Challenge Cup I has been put

:56:08.:56:12.

together by BBC Sport, the RFL, and as well, of course, Songs Of Praise.

:56:13.:56:17.

Aled Jones will be accompanying them, representing 32 different

:56:18.:56:21.

clubs. I was having a chat with them earlier, a mixture of excitement,

:56:22.:56:26.

tension and fear. Aled Jones will guide them through it. The Challenge

:56:27.:56:27.

Cup, Abide With Me. A very special moment for those 32

:56:28.:58:42.

fans and for Aled Jones as well. Thank you to the band of the Royal

:58:43.:58:46.

Engineers and the band of the Princess of Wales Royal Regiment for

:58:47.:58:50.

accompanying those fans, who don't want to leave the Wembley turf. You

:58:51.:58:53.

can understand that. They are going to have to, otherwise

:58:54.:59:04.

they are going to be in the middle of a stampede, because here come

:59:05.:59:12.

Hull FC and Warrington Wolves for the 114th Challenge Cup final. Your

:59:13.:59:20.

commentary team here at Wembley, John Kear, Jonathan Davies and Dave

:59:21.:59:22.

Woods. First they hear the noise and then

:59:23.:59:32.

they feel the heat. Their hearts pump hard in their chest as they

:59:33.:59:37.

come out to this absolutely sensational greeting at Wembley

:59:38.:59:46.

Stadium. That's what it's all about. Terrific Pomp and Circumstance

:59:47.:59:52.

stance for the 74th Wembley final. Hirst has its relevance today, not

:59:53.:59:58.

least for Hull. 8 Wembley finalses since 1959 but has never won here.

:59:59.:00:04.

Warrington can boast three successes in that national arena in just the

:00:05.:00:09.

last 8 years. How does the story go today? It is looking good isn't it,

:00:10.:00:18.

Wembley? The Black and Whites of Hull hoping to lift hearts of

:00:19.:00:24.

Humberside or at least part of the city by that river. The primrose and

:00:25.:00:32.

blue of Warrington. We pause now for the national anthem, which is sung

:00:33.:00:35.

by Aled Jones. They are going to have the guest of

:00:36.:01:04.

honour first. The Warrington vice-chairman, Stuart Middleton, who

:01:05.:01:08.

led his side out teed. Reece Evans there, the Welshman who plays on the

:01:09.:01:13.

wing today. He was a youngster playing in a schools final at

:01:14.:01:18.

Cardiff. That first alerted him to rugby league and rugby league to

:01:19.:01:22.

him, and here he is starring in a main event today. Ryan Atkins,

:01:23.:01:27.

Ashton Sims along the line as well. Stefan Ratchford and Chris Hill.

:01:28.:01:33.

Last but certainly not least, Tony Smith, who's had terrific success as

:01:34.:01:40.

a coach in Challenge Cup finals. Gareth Hour is the referee today.

:01:41.:01:50.

Garrett Hewer is the referee today. And then it comes to Hull. Their

:01:51.:02:00.

owner introducing to Lee Radford the coach. Along line they go. Some

:02:01.:02:05.

determination in those eyes at the moment. Some nerves I'm sure. Old

:02:06.:02:18.

faithful ringing out to the left where the black and white fans are,

:02:19.:02:22.

the Warrington fans trying to count they are with their own music as

:02:23.:02:30.

well. The early birds, the two mascots, the club was originally

:02:31.:02:44.

known as the Early Birds. That Hull legend played in 1985 when Wigan

:02:45.:02:52.

beat Hull 28 points. Maybe we've got an occasion that will match that. It

:02:53.:02:57.

is very warm, very close, very sticky conditions which are the

:02:58.:03:04.

player part. And now we are going to have the national anthem sung by

:03:05.:03:06.

Aled Jones from Songs of Praise. Two of the most fanatical sets of

:03:07.:03:23.

fans here today. To see their sides. CHEERING. So this is the way they

:03:24.:04:30.

are lining up. The Fijian international Ashton

:04:31.:06:09.

Sims. And Gareth Hewer, 12 years a referee. He is a part-timer. 34

:06:10.:06:15.

years of age. By day he's an engineering team leader at

:06:16.:06:18.

Sellafield, but today he's the man in the middle. Should we need the

:06:19.:06:24.

video ref, Ben is in the truck to make any of the big decisions

:06:25.:06:30.

required. They are two class acts. They meet on the biggest stage and

:06:31.:06:34.

there is very little to separate them ahead of what could be a

:06:35.:06:40.

ferocious contest. Hull get first touch of the ball and the shoulders

:06:41.:06:44.

that bend first and hit the ribs are those of Warrington. Let's hear the

:06:45.:06:50.

thoughts of Jonathan Davies and first the former Hull Challenge Cup

:06:51.:06:55.

winning coach John Kear. It is difficult to split these two. We've

:06:56.:06:59.

got the physicality and go forward of the Hull FC forwards, the speed

:07:00.:07:07.

of luck of Warrington Wolves. I think it will come dawn to one

:07:08.:07:12.

thing. Win the ruck and you will win the cup. And Jonathan is the

:07:13.:07:17.

Warrington influence in the commentary box. It is the power of

:07:18.:07:22.

the Hull pack. Especially the back three. I think the kicking is

:07:23.:07:28.

important. Tony Smith said they won the kicking game on previous

:07:29.:07:32.

encounters. It is going to be a lot. It is a very warm day, so whoever

:07:33.:07:38.

has something left in the tank, and where they play the game is going to

:07:39.:07:50.

be crucially important. It is a Hill pass by the former Hull man. Not far

:07:51.:07:57.

from the halfway line. That was a poor error by Warrington. That will

:07:58.:08:01.

give Hull a first attacking opportunities. I just saw there was

:08:02.:08:09.

a late challenge. Jack Hughes on Marc Sneyd. Sneyd is going to be the

:08:10.:08:13.

catalyst. Everything goes through him. His kicking game, but if

:08:14.:08:18.

there's a question mark on his game it's his defence. But also the big

:08:19.:08:24.

game temperament. They will put pressure on him. A very different

:08:25.:08:30.

approach to this Cup Final day, Hull. A resounding win against

:08:31.:08:38.

Catalan just over a week ago, when Marc Sneyd was in imperious form.

:08:39.:08:42.

Warrington had to do it against castle Ford, so they have had

:08:43.:08:48.

different buildups. But each would say theirs was the perfect platform.

:08:49.:08:54.

It is Watts who will drive this in. He and Taylor very much a bedrock of

:08:55.:09:00.

Hull's season. Houghton scampering away from half again. Quickly up

:09:01.:09:03.

goes Atkins to make that tackle. Up it goes off the boot of Sneyd. It

:09:04.:09:15.

hasn't got a lot of distance on it. It is allowed to bounce and

:09:16.:09:21.

Warrington get the ball back. A disappointing end to that set.

:09:22.:09:24.

They've built up a reasonable position, but a it was too easy for

:09:25.:09:31.

Warrington to defuse the situation. A poor kick to finish the first set

:09:32.:09:37.

in the red zone of Warrington. You would have to put a little more

:09:38.:09:42.

height on it, compete for it. Sandow with the kick from behind the

:09:43.:09:51.

40-metre mark. Shaw Shaw, they are after him. Shaul, they are after

:09:52.:09:59.

him. That was a good kick from Sandow. At the minute it is going

:10:00.:10:10.

Warrington's way. It is going to be such an important factor today, he's

:10:11.:10:15.

the catalyst for Warrington, Chris Sandow. That's great play by the

:10:16.:10:22.

Hull backs. They stepped up, took the pressure off their forwards.

:10:23.:10:26.

Fonua, Tuimavave was in there, Shaul did well. And now they have an

:10:27.:10:32.

easier kick. Sneyd looking for the touchline here. He gets the

:10:33.:10:36.

touchline and that roar you hear is the Hull fans who love the chant the

:10:37.:10:42.

name of Sneyd more or less when he puts his boot to the ball. Ball..

:10:43.:10:47.

Today he will do a lot of kicking. It will have to be good kicking. I'm

:10:48.:10:52.

with Jonathan there. A really good set by Hull FC. They are not only

:10:53.:10:59.

big forwards but a big team. Sneyd finished the set off with a good

:11:00.:11:04.

kick into the corner. They've left Warrington with a challenge. They'll

:11:05.:11:13.

look for the mistake. Turn the ball over in the Warrington 20-metre

:11:14.:11:17.

area. It is like a game or chess. For the first 10-15 minutes, try and

:11:18.:11:23.

force the error. Matthew Russell. Good marking. Russell takes off so

:11:24.:11:31.

often from that dummy half position. Hill. Three tackles gone so far in

:11:32.:11:38.

this particular set. Set. Ashton Sims. Sandow lobs it downfield. It

:11:39.:11:53.

is taken easily by Shaul. Has the confidence to put the pass into

:11:54.:11:58.

Michaels. Struggles up to the 35-metre market. A lot of energy put

:11:59.:12:02.

into that set by Hull FC defensively. The reward was feeling

:12:03.:12:06.

the ball 30 metres from their own line. Already they are in midfield.

:12:07.:12:14.

Minichiello. This guy's been a brilliant signing, Minichiello.

:12:15.:12:18.

Second year at this club, Mark Minichiello. The brother of Anthony,

:12:19.:12:26.

the former Australian full-back. Houghton to Ellis. Talk about good

:12:27.:12:32.

signings, what about this fella, what a year he's been having. Sixth

:12:33.:12:38.

tackle come up. Tuimavave's role will be crucial today. Sneyd's kick

:12:39.:12:44.

is sliced high. But what about that?! The chase is on. Russell is

:12:45.:12:53.

back there. The kick from Sneyd wasn't a bad effort. It was unusual,

:12:54.:13:01.

to say the least. It almost worked out for the player. Great work for

:13:02.:13:07.

Reece Evans. They've now played their own 20 metre zone.

:13:08.:13:14.

Improvisation by Sneyd but the kick was poor. The execution on the last

:13:15.:13:19.

tackle. Hill again. At the moment the defence is solid. Quick line

:13:20.:13:31.

speed. In by Ashton Sims. A sixth tackle going up, so Sandow is again

:13:32.:13:38.

the go-to man. He's not under too much pressure. I don't think the

:13:39.:13:42.

coach will be happy with the execution of the kick. There is no

:13:43.:13:46.

pressure on Shaul. Shaul. Have to put pressure on the full-back. This

:13:47.:13:50.

is improvisation by Sneyd. the pitch is looking really lush,

:13:51.:14:04.

isn't it? Conditions will play their part here today, it is a draining

:14:05.:14:17.

atmosphere. It is very muggy. A pass on the inside. That was a great

:14:18.:14:25.

tackle! How about that? Has he got his kicking game today? He has done

:14:26.:14:33.

two really good ones, putting it over the side, two in different

:14:34.:14:40.

ones, but that may be a taxi for Lee Radford, maintaining their energy

:14:41.:14:45.

levels. I think that is the case, he has put two Kickstarter two the

:14:46.:14:50.

bigger side are the Hull players, so you would expect them to use a bit

:14:51.:14:54.

more energy. If he takes over the touchline, they walked to the scrum.

:14:55.:15:06.

Damian Johnson is on the touchline. 23 degrees at there, not that one,

:15:07.:15:11.

but 60% humidity, we have seen the water carriers on already.

:15:12.:15:20.

A penalty here, making the job of clearing their lines much easier. A

:15:21.:15:33.

bit of a piggyback, interference at the ruck. He has failed to find

:15:34.:15:39.

touch. Oh! Big decision by the touch judge, saying that Michaels has put

:15:40.:15:45.

a foot on the line. Great effort for him to catch it, maybe he should

:15:46.:15:49.

have tapped it back, because there was players around him. Does his

:15:50.:15:54.

foot come down on the touchline? Yes, it does. Good call! Good call

:15:55.:16:02.

by the touch judge. That was almost a waste, that penalty, to piggyback

:16:03.:16:06.

them into good field position, but they have got head and feed. Again,

:16:07.:16:17.

Jonathan, I agree with you, getting it back into play would have been

:16:18.:16:19.

the best way. Warrington with a couple of tackles

:16:20.:16:33.

gone, but in a good position here. He has knocked on, he was a bit of a

:16:34.:16:39.

doubt, Westerman, because of an ankle injury last week, he has had a

:16:40.:16:47.

few sleepless nights, no doubt last night, but against his former team.

:16:48.:16:54.

He just took is I off it. It is disappointing, though, Jonathan,

:16:55.:16:57.

because the two errors that Warrington have made have both come

:16:58.:17:02.

from Westerman. That pass earlier, then that stone cold drop, you have

:17:03.:17:07.

to reel them in on days like this. If you are going to give the

:17:08.:17:10.

opposition the ball, your energy levels dropped straightaway. Hull's

:17:11.:17:17.

turn to take advantage of the field position, better than they were

:17:18.:17:23.

expecting. Rolling it forward again here. Here is Houghton at Tommy

:17:24.:17:31.

Haas. Told to go back and play the ball where he was tackled. -- at

:17:32.:17:33.

Tommy Hughes has got the job of unsettling

:17:34.:17:49.

Sneyd, another late tackle, making him aware that he will be in his

:17:50.:17:54.

face all day, he will not have the time to take the pass and give the

:17:55.:18:04.

kick. Hughes and the pressure there. It is very effective, great kick out

:18:05.:18:11.

of dummy half, first tackle of the Warrington set within their own 20

:18:12.:18:12.

metres. Evans and his brother played in the

:18:13.:18:28.

2005 Challenge Cup final in Cardiff, spotted by the Scouts, they became

:18:29.:18:39.

rugby league stars. A dash and a dart, that is the end of the set, or

:18:40.:18:44.

it will be with the next tackle, so what are they going to do? Ratchmond

:18:45.:18:53.

asking the question with a kick, Michaels clears the 30 metres mark.

:18:54.:19:00.

Great tackle! That was a big play from Michaels, it really was, under

:19:01.:19:05.

pressure taking the ball. And not only did he take it, paid it back

:19:06.:19:11.

with interest with a 30 metres run. Brilliant run by Michaels.

:19:12.:19:18.

Hull making up the metres here in this particular set, finishing in a

:19:19.:19:26.

strong position. Houghton runs away, they panic around him quickly, the

:19:27.:19:30.

Warrington defenders, to put him down. Final play in the set, here it

:19:31.:19:36.

goes to Sneyd, Evans is underneath it. He is protected by his

:19:37.:19:40.

team-mates. I think it was King in the end to target. If you are not

:19:41.:19:45.

going to control the speed of the tackle, I would expect the hookers

:19:46.:19:52.

to make the most of it. Big defence going at the moment,

:19:53.:20:06.

crunching tackles. Inside the 40 here, Sandow, this could be a huge

:20:07.:20:11.

kick, and it has given Warrington the head and feed at the scrum, the

:20:12.:20:16.

40/20. It is a massive, massive weapon in any side's armoury if you

:20:17.:20:20.

can produce a cake like that, because taking from behind the 40

:20:21.:20:24.

and beyond the 20 gives warranting the head and feed and the attacking

:20:25.:20:29.

position. It is in conditions like this as well, a repeat set for

:20:30.:20:35.

Warrington, so clever. Before Sandow received the ball, he looked exactly

:20:36.:20:39.

where the receivers was, he changed the angle of his kick and bounced it

:20:40.:20:44.

over the sideline, ten metres away from the Hull line. Absolute quality

:20:45.:20:49.

skill from the scrum-half. It is great, because he checked his run,

:20:50.:20:53.

he was aware of where he was, he made sure that he stayed in the 40

:20:54.:20:58.

metres area. As you said, the earlier tackle, plenty of space, the

:20:59.:21:05.

bounce favoured Warrington. So the first real proper attack belongs to

:21:06.:21:08.

Warrington, what can they make of this position? Evans repelled in the

:21:09.:21:15.

first instance, but five more waves of that kind of effort to come here.

:21:16.:21:21.

That was the right winger on the left, shaped completely differently

:21:22.:21:29.

for the scrum. Here is Clark out of dummy half, giddily towards Hughes.

:21:30.:21:43.

Ashton Sims has gone in at dummy half, A-level grubber kick is

:21:44.:21:48.

fielded easily enough, and Hull it back again, sure, the full-back,

:21:49.:21:56.

doing his job well. That was a poor pass from Ashton Sims at dummy half.

:21:57.:22:06.

Hull are coming back with gusto. Robbie Hunter-Paul, what you think?

:22:07.:22:13.

Absolutely massive defensive set by Hull FC, we are right at the point

:22:14.:22:19.

of the game where they are hitting the first wall physically, energy

:22:20.:22:23.

levels are getting low, they have to dig deep. Massive defensive set.

:22:24.:22:30.

Another kick from dummy half, Ratchford back to collect it. He has

:22:31.:22:36.

got Russell for company. Tackle four, he wanted to get into the

:22:37.:22:44.

Warrington are. That was Matty Russell from dummy half almost

:22:45.:22:52.

getting his nose through. Sims's effort, Gidley is involved, then

:22:53.:22:58.

Hughes as well. I think Warrington are winning the tackle here, because

:22:59.:23:01.

they are not getting that role and that gives the armchair ride. --

:23:02.:23:15.

roll on. Michael has to deal with this in his own goal area, and

:23:16.:23:21.

Sandow, having put the kick in, makes the definitive tackle, and

:23:22.:23:24.

Hull will have to drop out from underneath their own sticks.

:23:25.:23:35.

Sandow's kicking has been very precise, just keeping the back three

:23:36.:23:42.

of Hull on their toes. He is making his kicks into excellent kicks by

:23:43.:23:46.

his chase, immediately reacting and leading the chase team. Away by

:23:47.:23:55.

Sneyd, decent first touch. Forward comes Chris Hill. I can tell you

:23:56.:24:05.

what, after 16 minutes, you have got a real final here, this is a final,

:24:06.:24:09.

points in this game are going to be hard to come by, despite the weather

:24:10.:24:11.

conditions. There is the dummy, but taken by

:24:12.:24:25.

Minichiello, only ten metres away. Westerman bundling forward,

:24:26.:24:28.

Westerman goes for the line, very nearly determination got in there,

:24:29.:24:36.

but not quite. Now Clark, Gidley, he cannot get the pass away. Just a

:24:37.:24:42.

little bit out of his depth there. Final play in this set, Gidley

:24:43.:24:50.

rolling it forward, taken superbly. They were looking for the repeat set

:24:51.:24:56.

once again, Warrington, but a great cake by Manu. -- great cake. --

:24:57.:25:10.

great take. There is some breathing going on out there, trying to get

:25:11.:25:17.

oxygen in, Green on from the interchange bench. There is not much

:25:18.:25:24.

in it in terms of territory. The kick is going to hold up. Good kick.

:25:25.:25:31.

And a good chase. Good kicking from both sides today, a real feature.

:25:32.:25:36.

The kicking game is one thing, but also the lack of errors, you have to

:25:37.:25:41.

complete your set in conditions like this, because it is draining. As the

:25:42.:25:48.

boys said before the match, John and Brian, they want to play the game

:25:49.:25:51.

quick, they want to keep the tempo, Warrington. Back it comes towards

:25:52.:25:56.

Currie. Just inside the Hull half. Gidley again, coming towards the end

:25:57.:26:17.

of the set, a kick towards the touchline, and they will make Hull

:26:18.:26:22.

start from as deep as possible inside their own half. 20 minutes

:26:23.:26:26.

gone, there is nothing in this, absolutely not thing. We thought

:26:27.:26:30.

this was going to be very tight, just testing each other out, maybe

:26:31.:26:34.

Warrington have had better field position, but as we thought, there

:26:35.:26:38.

is absolutely nothing in this game. If you are going to win the

:26:39.:26:42.

Challenge Cup, you have to push yourself to places you have never

:26:43.:26:48.

been before, and because there has been no score, this is a water

:26:49.:26:51.

break. Hydration will be a problem for the players, and because it is a

:26:52.:26:55.

natural break with the ball going over the sideline, the water

:26:56.:26:58.

carriers are on the field, getting some water into the players. Just

:26:59.:27:03.

why we have this little break, it is worth mentioning that we are very

:27:04.:27:09.

much in mourning this week as well, the sad passing away of Steve

:27:10.:27:14.

Gartland, the 45-year-old ex player of Rochdale, he was a coach as well.

:27:15.:27:21.

He is being missed by many inside Wembley today. He is in a lot of

:27:22.:27:26.

people's thoughts in rugby league. Danny Houghton out of dummy half,

:27:27.:27:43.

here comes Green. This is a tough, tough game, physically and

:27:44.:27:46.

psychologically, because there has only been one penalty as well. So

:27:47.:27:51.

the amount of time they have been carrying the ball, tackling is

:27:52.:27:59.

phenomenal. I have to say, Hughes is putting some big hits in. Taylor,

:28:00.:28:05.

getting up slowly. That is a poor kick. That is a bounce, which might

:28:06.:28:14.

make it a little better. Warrington are renowned as a good kick pressure

:28:15.:28:18.

team, and they are putting pressure on the Hull kickers, three in

:28:19.:28:25.

different kicks because of that. Three different kickers, Sneyd

:28:26.:28:29.

usually finishes the set. But the pressure is on. Westwood is on the

:28:30.:28:36.

field, a character to add to the mix, as Warrington begin to move

:28:37.:28:41.

relentlessly forward again. Bailey is out there as well, another

:28:42.:28:46.

character to add to the mix. Here is Currie, keeps it alive, good

:28:47.:28:55.

off-load, Sandow. Minichiello comes out and takes it back.

:28:56.:29:00.

He was on the outside of Minichiello. Michaels trying to

:29:01.:29:05.

force himself through that crowd of defenders to get there. Couldn't

:29:06.:29:11.

quite. Let's look at the decision. Yes, it was a hold. That's the one

:29:12.:29:16.

difference at the moment, the kick pressure. When they've been in the

:29:17.:29:22.

opposition, 20-metre area, the high kicks are better. It's very

:29:23.:29:27.

difficult for Hull to take a clean ball. That could have bounced

:29:28.:29:32.

anywhere. If it put the ball in that area it becomes a contest. Although

:29:33.:29:35.

Warrington weren't successful that, that's a ploy. It was well worth

:29:36.:29:39.

continuing with. Heavy hardly mentioned Gareth Hewar,

:29:40.:29:54.

the referee, that's a good sign. Always a good sign. A good

:29:55.:29:59.

appointment by the rugby Football League. A part-time referee, and an

:30:00.:30:04.

inspiration to others that you can come from the amateur ranks. He was

:30:05.:30:16.

referee at Wakefield. And on cue he gives a penalty to Hull FC. I don't

:30:17.:30:24.

think he had much option. The tackle is completed and there is another

:30:25.:30:30.

effort. As Minichiello tries to regain his feet. I think that matter

:30:31.:30:35.

was taken out of the referee's hand. And that was a good kick. Good

:30:36.:30:40.

yardage. And there he is. Big Frank is on. Frank the Tank. Maybe not had

:30:41.:30:47.

quite the impact that Hull were expecting throughout the season.

:30:48.:30:52.

This was the kind of stage on which he can show his absolute pedigree.

:30:53.:31:08.

Fonua. Michaels. A big crashing tackle from Benny Westwood. Hull

:31:09.:31:17.

keep possession. Marvellous inside pressure on Sneyd. They are making

:31:18.:31:21.

sure he isn't having a comfortable afternoon. And he is having a bit of

:31:22.:31:25.

luck. As soon as he passed that ball, he had luck. Scott Taylor. The

:31:26.:31:34.

kick from Sneyd is a troubler for Ratchford, but he smothered

:31:35.:31:35.

possession back. Inside their own 0. Evans galloping towards the 40-metre

:31:36.:32:01.

mark. Gareth Ellis, the Hull skipper, has an ice pack on his

:32:02.:32:07.

neck. He is sheltering from the sun. A bit of concern about that injury

:32:08.:32:15.

to his neck. So the kick is taken by Shaul.

:32:16.:32:30.

A clumsy effort from Talanoa. That was a poor pass. A tired pass, and

:32:31.:32:39.

Talanoa... That was a difficult pass to take. I think it was not

:32:40.:32:49.

Talanoa's fault. Straight away you've just put the receiver under

:32:50.:32:55.

pressure. They are 30 metres from the Hull FC line. He is coming in to

:32:56.:33:00.

relieve the pressure off the forwards, but that was a poor pass.

:33:01.:33:09.

16 minutes of this half remaining. A very good position. Position. Atkins

:33:10.:33:21.

bobbing the ball back inside for Toby King. Ratchford to Sandow.

:33:22.:33:31.

Westwood urging again towards the 20-metre mark. They can work either

:33:32.:33:37.

side. Dwyer to that right-hand flank. Gives them a buzz of

:33:38.:33:41.

electricity when he comes on from the bench in the dummy half roll. It

:33:42.:33:46.

is offered and given to Sandow. Ratchford comes into the line. They

:33:47.:33:52.

are trying to create the numbers. It is Atkins, and he just couldn't

:33:53.:33:55.

quite take it in there, Matthew Russell. If he had, it would've been

:33:56.:34:00.

a try, but he didn't, so it is not. Hull FC give themselves high fives

:34:01.:34:04.

all around for a big defensive effort. They deserved that. They

:34:05.:34:10.

helped their mates there. A nice shift from right to left there.

:34:11.:34:16.

Atkins was in that space by Ratchford but the urgency of the

:34:17.:34:19.

right side of the Hull FC defence to cover for the friend, to cover for

:34:20.:34:23.

their team-mate, that's apparent for all to see. I thought Steve Michaels

:34:24.:34:29.

did exceptionally well there. They just created that little overlap. He

:34:30.:34:35.

had to make a corner and he made Atkins make a decision whether to

:34:36.:34:40.

offload or take the tackle. Brilliant play by Warrington but

:34:41.:34:43.

Steve Michaels on the right-wing for Hull. It is hot and steamy and

:34:44.:34:51.

intense. And it remains scoreless. Hull FC begin the long slow path

:34:52.:34:57.

back towards the Warrington half. No points yet, but this is a great

:34:58.:35:02.

game. High quality from both sides. Certainly in defence. Manu patched

:35:03.:35:11.

there, hoping to intercept, but Hull keep it. Finding their way back to

:35:12.:35:20.

the halfway line. Sneyd, ball hits his fingertips and he drops it to

:35:21.:35:27.

his boot, leathers it downfield. Great pressure. Warrington really

:35:28.:35:33.

are giving him a torrid time. They've worked very hard, realising

:35:34.:35:39.

he is such a large part of this Hull FC team. Last year he was taken off

:35:40.:35:43.

early as well, so there's a question mark. What they've got to do now is

:35:44.:35:47.

take the pressure off him a little bit. Takes the kicks off him,

:35:48.:35:53.

protect him a little bit. But he to step back a little further. Take the

:35:54.:35:57.

pressure off himself. Give him extra yard and make sure the kick is good.

:35:58.:36:03.

Doesn't have to stand as flak. Now they are chasing him. Dwyer at dummy

:36:04.:36:08.

half is forced to knock the ball to the ground. Great play by Chris

:36:09.:36:13.

Green. Dwyer holding the ball in two hands. Green played at his arm and

:36:14.:36:19.

forced the error. Clever play from the big interchange prop forward.

:36:20.:36:23.

Dwyer picks the ball, two hands, plays at the harm. Nothing wrong

:36:24.:36:26.

with that, just smart play. Forced the error. Hull FC head and feet.

:36:27.:36:41.

This is Chris Green's 85th appearance today.

:36:42.:37:15.

Great play from Jack Hughes in that scrum play. Minichiello from dummy

:37:16.:37:25.

half and will test them down that blindside and swung his hips. But

:37:26.:37:29.

look where they are, 10 metres inside the Warrington half. Back

:37:30.:37:34.

towards the middle. And here comes Pritchard. He was put down. Still,

:37:35.:37:43.

tackles are in the bag. They are reaching and testing. The pass to

:37:44.:37:52.

Shaul, back towards the middle. Keys keeps it alive. So it is going be

:37:53.:37:57.

Sneyd again with a little cross-field kick but Ratchford read

:37:58.:38:00.

that really well and caught it easily. Warrington had to start from

:38:01.:38:07.

there again. A nice ploy might be towards the latter end of this half

:38:08.:38:13.

to put inside passes in to test the big fellas with repeat efforts. So

:38:14.:38:17.

if they've made one tackle inside, make them make another and you might

:38:18.:38:22.

well get a quick ruck. Also, you are going to get tired. Players are

:38:23.:38:31.

going to get lazy. When they crop off the defensive line, drop off the

:38:32.:38:38.

offensive line. This is an exhausting effort from both sides.

:38:39.:38:42.

Sandow will welly it downfield. That's a good kick. Shaul watches it

:38:43.:38:48.

swirl and curl but catches it safely. That was a good take. It was

:38:49.:38:53.

spiralling all over the place. It looked an easy take but that was a

:38:54.:39:03.

difficult kick. It was spiralling. Whichever teams win this will earn

:39:04.:39:09.

their medals. We've yet to see a score, with half an hour played.

:39:10.:39:15.

Pritchard down the middle again. They will run the tank empty today,

:39:16.:39:22.

Frank the Tank. And that was a wonderful break down the middle. A

:39:23.:39:31.

bit of momentum is with Hull. Ratchford gets there, but again it's

:39:32.:39:35.

a draining position from which they start. Should have gone through the

:39:36.:39:40.

half there. It is a penalty. Should have gone through the hands. The

:39:41.:39:45.

last tackle, they were unorganised on the left-hand side, Warrington.

:39:46.:39:48.

Interesting the break was made in the middle and it was by a three

:39:49.:39:53.

quarter going at the big men. That's what's going happen. As they tire,

:39:54.:39:58.

the quick feet will expose the bigger forwards.

:39:59.:40:10.

And it is a game with a replay if it is all square at the end of the 80

:40:11.:40:16.

minutes. It's the only professional game in the world of rugby league I

:40:17.:40:22.

think which can provoke a replay. In Australia every other match, a

:40:23.:40:26.

golden point, whether it is a knockout contest or not. But we are

:40:27.:40:31.

a long way from that. He dropped it. A good tackle. Talanoa making the

:40:32.:40:40.

tackle. I think he knocked on and is making the tackle. That was a good

:40:41.:40:45.

read. There was an offload. He goes in, there's a little offload. One

:40:46.:40:50.

pass. He had to make the tackle. He was unlucky. The referee got that

:40:51.:40:58.

right. Great play. He is going to make the tackle and it has come off

:40:59.:41:02.

Talanoa. But that was a good read. They had to make it, because there

:41:03.:41:07.

was a threat down that Warrington right-hand side. This is a good

:41:08.:41:19.

game, this. You feel it's going to erupt. A tense, hard battle with

:41:20.:41:29.

high quality. Kicking game, defensive games. The second half,

:41:30.:41:38.

the second act. Ratchford in the middle. Sandow offering it away to

:41:39.:41:45.

Ryan Bailey. At the moment their defence of both sides is brilliant.

:41:46.:41:52.

Searching towards the left-hand side but Clark can see nothing, so goes

:41:53.:41:57.

for the middle. His opposite number is there to take the tackle.

:41:58.:42:03.

Interesting that he's got Dwyer and Clark... It's given away, and it is

:42:04.:42:08.

picked up by Talanoa! They have had their positions, Warrington, two or

:42:09.:42:12.

three times when Hull's defence has come up and now they've got a

:42:13.:42:16.

penalty and a chance to clear it away. Warrington just need to remain

:42:17.:42:24.

composed. It is a heck of a defensive effort from Hull FC. It is

:42:25.:42:29.

typified on the left-hand side by that man, Talanoa. His reading is

:42:30.:42:35.

outstanding. Minichiello did well as well. Dwyer, I wasn't sure if he

:42:36.:42:42.

felt he was offside. He wasn't offside and he timed his run to

:42:43.:42:46.

perfection. But only one counts and that's the referee's. A big set here

:42:47.:42:51.

now. Hull started inside the Warrington half, but how deep can

:42:52.:42:55.

they go? Back it goes to Danny Houghton. Minichiello comes on

:42:56.:43:01.

apace. But Houghton was waiting and inside it goes for Watts. He'll

:43:02.:43:05.

charge down the middle and he offloads. Loads. They are taking

:43:06.:43:10.

fuel out of the Warrington tank here in this said. Bowden is put down.

:43:11.:43:16.

Three tackles in one. Three times, big frefrts Warrington but only one

:43:17.:43:21.

counted because of the off-low.ds Pritchard... But Chris Sandow will

:43:22.:43:31.

go skidding away. He has dragged his man down and pulled him down. What a

:43:32.:43:35.

recovery from Shaul, but Warrington are still up there. It is with

:43:36.:43:39.

Russell and Russell is over the line! A long, dramatic moment. This

:43:40.:43:47.

Wembley final bursts wide open and it is Warrington who've the opening

:43:48.:43:54.

score. It is a mistake but brilliant play. You have to watch it. He reads

:43:55.:43:59.

the intercept exceptionally well. I think it is a forward. He reads it

:44:00.:44:03.

well, but what a chase for Jamie Shaul. He didn't give up. He ran

:44:04.:44:08.

Sandow down and Russell kept his composure. Just watch. He reads the

:44:09.:44:13.

play. He sees Pritchard. It is an early pass and he has read it. Taps

:44:14.:44:18.

it up and he's away. But what a chase, Jon. We are all saying this

:44:19.:44:23.

is a try for Sandow, but look at Shaul in the background. Works so

:44:24.:44:27.

hard. Russell is trying to make him alter the line of his run, but he

:44:28.:44:32.

must have made 10 metres up there on Sandow. Really good work. No panic,

:44:33.:44:38.

lots of composure and over it goes by the post.

:44:39.:44:45.

Very good try indeed, well done, Mr Russell, you kept your head and you

:44:46.:44:55.

got your reward, great try. The primrose and blue. That will be

:44:56.:45:00.

demoralising for them, because they defended exceptionally well,

:45:01.:45:04.

absorbed all the pressure from the Warrington players, and when they

:45:05.:45:07.

were on the attack, the interception. The psychological

:45:08.:45:13.

blow, can they come back strong? Gidley puts it over, Warrington lead

:45:14.:45:23.

by 6-0 as half-time creeps closer. I was with Jonathan Davies, I thought

:45:24.:45:27.

the momentum had switched towards Hull, but that fantastic

:45:28.:45:31.

interception from Sandow, that quality finish from Matty Russell

:45:32.:45:36.

has turned the game on its head. But this is a test of the Hull FC

:45:37.:45:47.

character, of Hull FC's belief. Oh! The as backwards, it is OK. Any kids

:45:48.:45:54.

that watches the game or watches rugby league, Sandow turns his back

:45:55.:45:58.

and shoulder towards his touchline, if he drops it, it is not a

:45:59.:46:03.

knock-on. Once again, the touch judge gave the correct call there.

:46:04.:46:10.

Hughes on the right-hand side for Warrington, Ratchford is the man at

:46:11.:46:16.

dummy half, a bit of a gap there. It closed up quickly. Well, Warrington

:46:17.:46:23.

have 17 dummy half runs to three. He finds support in King, and he has

:46:24.:46:27.

got support, a real heavy collision in the middle. Dwyer is back up on

:46:28.:46:38.

his feet, Gidley pushes it backwards, Hughes picks it up,

:46:39.:46:42.

Warrington are desperate for another quickfire try, but I think that was

:46:43.:46:48.

the sixth tackle, Hull have it back again. Bodies everywhere! Holding up

:46:49.:46:54.

here. It is absolutely draining, that is full-blooded commitment,

:46:55.:46:59.

isn't it? Whatever it takes, I am going to do whatever it takes to

:47:00.:47:04.

prevent a try, nothing illegal, just a matter of urgency, desperation,

:47:05.:47:09.

determination to prevent the try. I think he got in the way there, he

:47:10.:47:13.

went in between the ball-carrier, he had to make the tackle, that is

:47:14.:47:19.

never a penalty. Michaels again, this has been some game! I think he

:47:20.:47:25.

got it away, do you think? He could not get to the ball-carrier. Great

:47:26.:47:33.

tackle. It is commitment. Three and a half minutes of the half

:47:34.:47:38.

remaining. Some debris on the field, Hull will have possession back, so

:47:39.:47:43.

close to their own line, so close to conceding for a second time in the

:47:44.:47:48.

blink of an eye. How enjoyable is this game! Yeah. Hull needs to

:47:49.:47:56.

pummel their way back as far as they can inside Warrington territory.

:47:57.:48:06.

Taken in by Watts, Houghton comes to the right-hand side.

:48:07.:48:16.

How sharp has he been from that position today? He has been

:48:17.:48:31.

outstanding for 37 minutes in this heat. Sneyd will go for the kick

:48:32.:48:37.

behind the 40, but never a 20 attempt, just get it as far

:48:38.:48:40.

downfield as you can. Ratchford, Evans runs in hard.

:48:41.:48:49.

Here is the try scorer, Matty Russell, a Wembley try scorer. He is

:48:50.:49:06.

hurt, he is hurt. Every time there is a stoppage in play, the guys are

:49:07.:49:11.

covering some metres from the sidelines, getting onto the field,

:49:12.:49:15.

the water carriers. There is the incident there, he just caught the

:49:16.:49:19.

need to the head, nothing illegal about that. Just a collision, an

:49:20.:49:26.

unfortunate accident Ulster very much part of the Scottish team.

:49:27.:49:34.

Matty Russell will be in the Scotland squad, I am sure, at the

:49:35.:49:40.

end of the season when they take on England, Australia and New Zealand.

:49:41.:49:44.

Matches you can see on the BBC, the four nations tournament in late

:49:45.:49:45.

October and November. They are still smiling, they are

:49:46.:49:58.

still enjoying themselves, only six points behind, so why not? The sun

:49:59.:50:04.

is out. The story is not over yet, there is plenty more to come, it has

:50:05.:50:10.

been high-quality. Hill carrying it forward with determination, as he

:50:11.:50:16.

always does. They said in the studio, Hill looks dangerous with

:50:17.:50:17.

ball in hand. This is Currie. Gidley with a kick to touch, how did

:50:18.:50:36.

goes. Such an inspirational part of the Warrington side, especially the

:50:37.:50:45.

pack, Gareth Ellis. The Hull side. Did I say Warrington? The Hull side,

:50:46.:50:54.

sorry. He will be back out there. Interesting that he has gone for the

:50:55.:50:59.

sideline, Gidley, to inject some energy once again, to just contain

:51:00.:51:04.

Hull FC and go forward. But it Warrington to get the ball,

:51:05.:51:08.

Jonathan, do you think they will be tempted to drop a goal? With a

:51:09.:51:15.

defence as tight as this, yes. One chance again, the set has got to be

:51:16.:51:20.

good. Running away from the 20 metres mark. The 2016 Challenge Cup

:51:21.:51:29.

final boiling up nicely here. If they do this well, they may not have

:51:30.:51:37.

a chance to have a set. Liam Watts, oh, and he has had the ball wrestled

:51:38.:51:44.

from them, it went backwards anyway. Now you have got three tackles down

:51:45.:51:47.

the middle, quick play up the middle. Tried to get the one point.

:51:48.:51:58.

Only 30 seconds left in the half. There is urgency now, Sandow is in

:51:59.:52:05.

control. Sandow has knocked a few important ones over this year. That

:52:06.:52:11.

is a great carry from Hill. Sandow is going to go for the past, the

:52:12.:52:16.

ball has gone to ground, Hull very nearly got it back. The referee has

:52:17.:52:23.

given scrum to Hull, head and feed, but the hooter sounds. It has been a

:52:24.:52:27.

draining but thoroughly entertaining, low scoring but edge

:52:28.:52:30.

of the seat first half, Matty Russell scored in the 34th minute,

:52:31.:52:35.

the only scores so far. Gidley's goal giving them a 6-0 lead,

:52:36.:52:41.

Warrington, at half-time, but plenty, plenty more to come. We are

:52:42.:52:47.

going to go down to the touchline in just a moment to hear from a couple

:52:48.:52:52.

of the competence in that first off, let's hear from them now.

:52:53.:52:58.

Such a tough part, what is it like at there? We knew it was going to be

:52:59.:53:03.

tough, there have been a few errors, we expected both teams to defend

:53:04.:53:07.

well on the line, both teams have done that, so a real battlefield

:53:08.:53:11.

possession and an arm wrestled. What will be key for you to get over the

:53:12.:53:17.

line? Keep completing sets, moving better. Cheers. Gareth Ellis is with

:53:18.:53:23.

me, as tight as many predicted, what do you do to get back into this? We

:53:24.:53:28.

need to be more composed, especially with ball in hand, make it count, we

:53:29.:53:33.

have been on the back of too many errors and done a lot of defending.

:53:34.:53:38.

Conditions are sapping. Ride-height, but that is something for both teams

:53:39.:53:49.

to deal with. -- pretty hard. Let's show you the stats, Warrington

:53:50.:53:52.

edging possession, more territory as well.

:53:53.:53:58.

Warrington have made an awful lot more metres, 250 more, even just a

:53:59.:54:07.

couple of penalties conceded each. Warrington have made more metres in

:54:08.:54:14.

the first three tackles, 412-296. What is your overall view, Jamie

:54:15.:54:17.

Peacock, as we go inside the Warrington dressing room? I think

:54:18.:54:23.

the scoreline is a verified Warrington just edging it. They're

:54:24.:54:29.

kicking has been great, Sandow better than Sneyd. We spoke about

:54:30.:54:34.

dummy half running at the beginning of the game, and that is what they

:54:35.:54:38.

have been doing. Have you felt the intensity of the first part of here?

:54:39.:54:43.

Without a doubt, some brutal contact early on in the game, as you would

:54:44.:54:48.

expect in a big game like this, but JP has nailed it - Warrington had a

:54:49.:54:53.

big game plan to run out of dummy half, and the tail of the halve has

:54:54.:54:56.

been Hull clinging onto that, really fighting to stay in the game. On the

:54:57.:55:03.

flip side, Hull has struggled to break Warrington down, a couple of

:55:04.:55:07.

reasons - both sides attack quite similar, so when they do structured

:55:08.:55:10.

plays which they practised throughout the week, they are quite

:55:11.:55:15.

capable of dealing with those plays, so the key is the unstructured

:55:16.:55:19.

plays, the Sandow intercepts, Clark out of dummy half, Matty Russell out

:55:20.:55:25.

of dummy half. The unstructured players are what will win this game,

:55:26.:55:29.

and Warrington are doing that better than Hull. We talked about how

:55:30.:55:34.

strong both defences are before the game, for those people who are with

:55:35.:55:38.

us for one game a year, and hopefully they will come back for

:55:39.:55:43.

more! How do you sell this as a game of rugby league, despite the fact

:55:44.:55:46.

that it has not been free-flowing? The prowess and desire shown by both

:55:47.:55:51.

teams is exemplary, you should watch this as a bladder to real tussle in

:55:52.:55:55.

the Colosseum. Michaels, for example, Jamie Shaul, the amount of

:55:56.:56:02.

passion to get back, and it did not in the end affect the dry, they got

:56:03.:56:06.

it on the next play, but it shows the huge commitment of both teams.

:56:07.:56:13.

The only difference between the two is an intercepted play, and we have

:56:14.:56:20.

talked about how good they are attacking wise, but they are pretty

:56:21.:56:24.

good defensively, and they are building the living daylights out

:56:25.:56:31.

of... Oh! The living daylights out of each other! That would have kept

:56:32.:56:35.

people watching whatever, if you had let a cheeky one out there! Let's

:56:36.:56:40.

ignore him, I will talk to you two! There is no room for sympathy and

:56:41.:56:44.

rugby league, but a huge amount of Sciver the four Jamie Shaul that his

:56:45.:56:49.

efforts were in vain, but you have to praise Chris Sandow as well. --

:56:50.:56:59.

sympathy for. It is what they have been doing all game, instinctively

:57:00.:57:03.

getting on the end of the intercept, what commitment from Jamie Shaul,

:57:04.:57:07.

great chase back. If he had not tried to escort sure, Russell might

:57:08.:57:14.

have scored on the first play. -- escort Shaul. Sandow is an

:57:15.:57:21.

instinctive rugby player, touch football player, he wants to get the

:57:22.:57:27.

ball in hand, looking for opportunities like that. And that is

:57:28.:57:32.

off the back of the patience of the Warrington team, Jamie is right,

:57:33.:57:36.

they are kicking better, but what an effort from Shaul. Does not stop the

:57:37.:57:41.

try in the end, but coming off the back of some frustration. Frank

:57:42.:57:45.

Pritchard makes the play, Sandow sniffed it out. Warrington have

:57:46.:57:53.

disrupted Hull's play, a lot of their tactics is about disrupting

:57:54.:57:57.

Sneyd. Every time he has touched the ball, he has been hit by a

:57:58.:58:02.

Warrington player. They have come to frustrate the Hull team. They are

:58:03.:58:06.

very similar sites, so the key to the game is the bits between the

:58:07.:58:17.

place. He is a smart coach, he has done his defensive tactics, Sandow

:58:18.:58:24.

has come up, they are effectively taking him out of the game. You

:58:25.:58:28.

mentioned that this is what Sandow does week in, week out, and there

:58:29.:58:32.

were earlier examples in this Challenge Cup final. This is part of

:58:33.:58:37.

the defence of Tony Smith, get up behind the ball and close him down.

:58:38.:58:42.

They consistently did this throughout the game, you can see

:58:43.:58:46.

them edging up, let's get past the ball. Sandow is a smart player,

:58:47.:58:51.

right? He is not a big bloke, he does not want to make a huge amount

:58:52.:58:57.

of tackles, but defending like that almost makes the other side go back

:58:58.:59:02.

inside, and what it does is give you an opportunity, it should be player

:59:03.:59:05.

but the ball in front of you, Sandow is in the position to intercept the

:59:06.:59:10.

ball, that is smart play. When we play against him, do not put

:59:11.:59:13.

anything long around him, Sandow will pick it up.

:59:14.:59:16.

Given that it all happens in a split second, how much would Frank

:59:17.:59:22.

Pritchard have been aware that it was Sandow who was in that position?

:59:23.:59:28.

The game goes so quickly, when you are in that situation, how do you

:59:29.:59:34.

know? If Pritchard plays earlier, Sandow's in the wrong position. The

:59:35.:59:39.

play works for Hull, so Sandow has to get that right, as he's being

:59:40.:59:43.

aggressive and creating numbers for the Hull team. If he gets it wrong,

:59:44.:59:47.

Hull could score there. You are talking a split second. Hull need to

:59:48.:59:52.

change their tactics in the second half. They have to stop threading

:59:53.:59:56.

that ball over the top and come through the middle. I agree, stay in

:59:57.:00:04.

the middle, stay patient. Here we see the defence exemplified there. I

:00:05.:00:09.

think we need a plus two kicker. What I mean by that is Sneyd Sneyd

:00:10.:00:15.

Sneyd is their first option for a kicker. When Smith's tactics close

:00:16.:00:21.

them down, they've got no get out clause. Stick to a second option to

:00:22.:00:27.

kick deeper. When you are playing against an aggressive defence there

:00:28.:00:31.

are two ways to deal with it. One is stop them coming up aggressively.

:00:32.:00:35.

The second is to play early. Play with your centres and wingers.

:00:36.:00:41.

That's a great tactic and I will be surprised if Hull don't do that in

:00:42.:00:46.

the second half. And if your kicking game isn't firing on all cylinders,

:00:47.:00:52.

that adds extra pressure does it? You've all said maybe the kicking

:00:53.:00:56.

game hasn't been kick for Hull. Part of that is down to Sneyd and part of

:00:57.:01:02.

is it the pressure point for Warrington. He was there all the way

:01:03.:01:08.

through it. He gets lucky with this kick but throughout the game he's

:01:09.:01:15.

been poor with it. That's down to his own skill, but Sandow has been

:01:16.:01:20.

outstanding with his kicking. Although Houghton has kicked the

:01:21.:01:25.

ball and Tuimavave has kicked the ball, the pressure was on Sneyd. He

:01:26.:01:29.

needed every kicking responsibility, whereas Sandow's kicked, Gidley has

:01:30.:01:33.

kicked and they balance themselves off nicely. Sandow's ability to pick

:01:34.:01:38.

off space with the ball is almost impossible to defend, let me tell

:01:39.:01:42.

you. Hull would have come up with a plan to stop Sandow from kicking 40,

:01:43.:01:49.

20s. Sandow picks this opportunity, spots the space and kicks it in a

:01:50.:01:52.

way that's impossible to defend. So what do you do as a coach if you

:01:53.:01:56.

need other options just to take the pressure off Sneyd a little bit? You

:01:57.:02:01.

mentioned a couple of things. Take another step further back so he has

:02:02.:02:05.

more time to pick his space. You also have maybe a second option to

:02:06.:02:11.

set themselves up. Or kick earlier when the opportunity not to be

:02:12.:02:13.

pressured by this Warrington defence is there. I would like to see the

:02:14.:02:18.

centres or the wingers kick from out wide. That would take pressure off

:02:19.:02:25.

Sneyd as well. We talked about the Houghton-Clark battle and the runs

:02:26.:02:28.

from dummy half. One of the exciting things if you are a Warrington fan

:02:29.:02:34.

or coach is this, when the game becomes unstructured, Warrington are

:02:35.:02:38.

renowned for planting up when Clark goes into dummy half. He creates

:02:39.:02:42.

speed and distance from his own line and creates field position for his

:02:43.:02:47.

team. Look, he is chomping at the bit to run out of dummy half. I

:02:48.:02:54.

believe it is one of the key differences between the two sides.

:02:55.:02:56.

When the game is unstructured, Warrington come to life. When the

:02:57.:03:01.

game is unstructured, I believe Hull struggle more in that style of game.

:03:02.:03:07.

This is a huge point Jon is making. Danny Houghton hasn't been as

:03:08.:03:10.

effective but he's been effective when you consider what Warrington

:03:11.:03:14.

did running out of dummy half. Early in the game the Hull defence was on

:03:15.:03:24.

top. As the game gets unstructured, has more tiredness in both ranks,

:03:25.:03:29.

we'll see the prowess of Houghton for Hull, Michaels maybe, but

:03:30.:03:33.

particularly Clark. So on the unrushed thing, are you saying that

:03:34.:03:39.

Warrington have greater players to deal with the unstructured phases of

:03:40.:03:44.

the game? We've got guys who embrace running out of dummy half when the

:03:45.:03:47.

defence is unstructured and not set. I think Clark and Ratchford and all

:03:48.:03:52.

those guys get excited when the ruck's quick. They have had a lot of

:03:53.:03:59.

quick rucks into that half, with the likes of Pritchard, Sika Manu. I

:04:00.:04:05.

think the Hull players are more about creating quick balls and

:04:06.:04:11.

taking advantage of them. If you look at Hull FC's back line it is

:04:12.:04:16.

about creating and not taking advantage. We saw what Danny

:04:17.:04:21.

Houghton and Daryl Clark can do. We with now hear what they do. Both

:04:22.:04:26.

players have worn the player mic for us this afternoon.

:04:27.:04:32.

Pressure. Keep building, Carlos. Arm wrestle, boys.

:04:33.:05:05.

That's the difference. Chris Hughes gone.

:05:06.:05:16.

A quick one on that, they are saying similar things aren't they, no

:05:17.:06:00.

errors, focus, it's an arm wrestle, boys. They are saying quite similar

:06:01.:06:09.

stuff. I think the Jack Hughes one was more of hope. He will say to

:06:10.:06:18.

himself, Chris Hill has gone, I hope. The energy of the team and the

:06:19.:06:24.

encouragement and the enthusiasm. Great voices. And they've been less

:06:25.:06:30.

close to swearing than you over the course of that first happen. Now to

:06:31.:06:34.

pitch-side, as Tanya Arnold is with a legend of the game who this time

:06:35.:06:37.

last year was already on his way to picking up the Challenge Cup. I'm

:06:38.:06:42.

with Kevin Sinfield. Rather than just turn up and enjoy the game,

:06:43.:06:47.

you've got your boots on. What have you been doing and what is it in aid

:06:48.:06:53.

of? It is only a year since we had a very special day. I've been here as

:06:54.:06:59.

a guest of the RFL, but to have a go at the lack borrowds crossbar

:07:00.:07:11.

challenge. There was a chance to win ?120,000 for charity. But even

:07:12.:07:16.

though I didn't do it, Ladbrokes have donated the money. Money. You

:07:17.:07:21.

have to put yourself out there sometimes. I was more nervous than I

:07:22.:07:26.

ever was before a game, but now I can relax. You spoke about last

:07:27.:07:29.

year, a special day for you all. Very much so. And for the viewers at

:07:30.:07:35.

home, down here pitch-side you won't believe how warm it is. Every time

:07:36.:07:39.

I've played here I've cramped after 60 minutes. Some of those guys look

:07:40.:07:44.

really tired. For the game to be in the balance like it is, expect a

:07:45.:07:49.

great second half. You start a new job with the RFL next week as rugby

:07:50.:07:53.

director. What is it and what do you hope to achieve? A big posh title

:07:54.:08:00.

and a big announcement, but I'm still in that transitional phase of

:08:01.:08:06.

coming out of rugby. Not quite ready for that full-time role yet. Two

:08:07.:08:10.

days a week. To be part of the England set-up and also to be part

:08:11.:08:14.

of some of the grass roots stuff that's going on is really important

:08:15.:08:17.

to me. I'm trying to grow the game in different way that we can. But

:08:18.:08:23.

also working with Super League. I was able while I was playing to get

:08:24.:08:27.

a business degree. To be able to use that alongside some of the great

:08:28.:08:30.

people in Super League is fantastic. Just great to be back in the game.

:08:31.:08:35.

Good luck to you. Thank you. I look forward to hearing from you in the

:08:36.:08:40.

future. Thank you very much. Thank you to Kevin Sinfield for talking to

:08:41.:08:45.

us. He performed in the pre-Challenge Cup final school boys

:08:46.:08:53.

game, Denis Betts and Phil Clark. 30 years ago. Steven Mullaney was

:08:54.:08:57.

another schoolboy who played in this game. This was in 1986. He scored a

:08:58.:09:06.

superb solo try as Wakefield schools defeated St Helens 17-0. Tragically

:09:07.:09:11.

Steven died in a road accident the following year, so as a tribute to

:09:12.:09:17.

him, this game is renamed the Steven Mullaney memorial game. And stars of

:09:18.:09:21.

the future will always come through this game. Earlier today we had

:09:22.:09:27.

Castleford Academy against St Peter's of Wigan. Castleford 6-0

:09:28.:09:35.

down early on, but this individual effort from Riley Brown brought them

:09:36.:09:41.

level. And in what was a close contest, Castleford wrapped up the

:09:42.:09:45.

win with seven minutes to go in the match. They worked the ball over to

:09:46.:09:49.

the right side with this kick across field from Ben Dean. It was finished

:09:50.:09:58.

in the corner by Daniel Gayle. Ched Walker is in the box to present the

:09:59.:10:04.

trophy to Castleford Academy. And that... Look at the celebrations!

:10:05.:10:10.

That is as a part of a Challenge Cup final day as the main game itself.

:10:11.:10:15.

Brilliant, fantastic to see that. It is great to see the community in our

:10:16.:10:21.

National Stadium. Maybe a few of them will be in Hull KR's Academy

:10:22.:10:27.

before long. Maybe one day. What do they have to do the get back into

:10:28.:10:33.

this? Control the ruck. Hopefully they can crack this great Warrington

:10:34.:10:38.

defence. Brian? I think Warrington are in the box seat. They keep doing

:10:39.:10:43.

what they are doing, narrow offensive dummy half will prove the

:10:44.:10:45.

difference between the two teams. Thank you. Warrington are on their

:10:46.:10:52.

way out. Hull are already out. We join John Kear, Jonathan Davies and

:10:53.:10:58.

Dave Woods. 40 minutes of history making awaits for one side or the

:10:59.:11:02.

other. Warrington are leading at the moment. Stuart Pearce is there. He's

:11:03.:11:07.

big mates of the Warrington coach Tony Smith. I think he handed

:11:08.:11:11.

toutiers device the Warrington players last night. We've been

:11:12.:11:15.

trying to find out who handed out the jerseys to the Hull players. And

:11:16.:11:23.

Lee Radford said Mike Bassett, but we think he is pulling our legs. In

:11:24.:11:29.

2005 you handed them out as a Hull coach. That's right. It was us

:11:30.:11:32.

against the world. That's the attitude they'll need to take. For

:11:33.:11:37.

me Hull FC, this second half it is like the semifinal which was nip and

:11:38.:11:42.

tuck against Wigan. They came out in the first quarter, the third quarter

:11:43.:11:47.

of the game and they offloaded and caused Wigan some problems. A

:11:48.:11:54.

two-pass kick behind the up-coming Warrington defence, some inside play

:11:55.:11:58.

or early play. It is set wonderfully well isn't it. Just the one score in

:11:59.:12:09.

it at the moment. Whether it gets blown wide open or stays tight and

:12:10.:12:14.

tense for what remains. So much at stake from both sides' point of

:12:15.:12:18.

view. The first set of the second half comes to an end with Sandow

:12:19.:12:23.

putting the ball high in the air. And Michaels catches it safely

:12:24.:12:28.

enough. The tackle is made. Oh, he's lost it! A terrific effort by

:12:29.:12:36.

Atkins. They get a penalty, because Hull rolling on. Immediately the

:12:37.:12:43.

coach says two points. It is not like Tony Smith. He wants to keep

:12:44.:12:50.

the ball in play, but not today. It is all about the scoreboard. It

:12:51.:12:54.

doesn't matter if you win by one point or 101, the prize is the same.

:12:55.:12:59.

That was frustration. The ball had been out, a clean catch. I'm sure

:13:00.:13:02.

that's going to be peppered that corner of the field. The sun is very

:13:03.:13:07.

much in the eyes of the centre and the wing on the right-hand side for

:13:08.:13:13.

Hull. It was a very good take by Michaels, but he lost his focus.

:13:14.:13:20.

There is frustration in giving the penalty away. A bonus for Warrington

:13:21.:13:26.

early in the second half. We are waiting for their tea now. It is a

:13:27.:13:35.

big kick, this. You say it's simple for a kicker of Gidley's ability,

:13:36.:13:38.

but in these conditions... He was swinging a leg around. Going through

:13:39.:13:44.

a few shadow kicks, almost as if it has come early in the second half,

:13:45.:13:48.

he isn't properly warmed up again. I wonder if they are fatigued as well.

:13:49.:13:53.

Took an age to get there, so he was staying relaxed. Nine times out of

:13:54.:13:58.

ten he kicks this. It is quite a simple kick for Gidley. He would

:13:59.:14:02.

expect to kick it. And he has taken the full minute as part of the laws

:14:03.:14:07.

of rugby league. You've got a full minute to take the kick. He is

:14:08.:14:13.

milking that time. So much so that the referee has called the clock

:14:14.:14:14.

off. Gidley, this could be the decider,

:14:15.:14:31.

and he chips it. Oh, he's put it wide. The connection there didn't

:14:32.:14:36.

seem all that confident. All things being equal Warrington get the ball

:14:37.:14:41.

back here. The drop out on the 20, but that's two points missed. That's

:14:42.:14:43.

a sitter. Didn't look confident. You have to put every penalty into

:14:44.:14:56.

context, and that is massive pressure, start of the second half

:14:57.:14:59.

of the Challenge Cup final, and he has fluffed his lines. He has lent

:15:00.:15:05.

back on it and pushed it right, he will be disappointed with that. It

:15:06.:15:10.

will be interesting to look back on that, and Hill has dropped the ball,

:15:11.:15:16.

to compound the error. Hull FC find themselves in position inside the

:15:17.:15:20.

Warrington half with ball in hand only six behind. As we mentioned,

:15:21.:15:28.

momentum is massive, and that two points, that mistake, the missed

:15:29.:15:34.

kick, that really sets up Hull. DRS showing it to whoever fancies

:15:35.:15:41.

running onto it, here comes Fonua, real handful, gets the ball away. --

:15:42.:15:49.

Tuimavave. That is the way to do it, that is the way to do it!

:15:50.:16:02.

Hull said their camp 20 metres out. Running it back towards his left

:16:03.:16:11.

hand side, Minichiello will track back from whence he came. With a

:16:12.:16:17.

surge and an urge, asking a lot of the Warrington defensive line. The

:16:18.:16:23.

Hull fans are getting their voices in, it is chaste, it is missed, and

:16:24.:16:29.

in the end Rashford carries its safe underneath the sticks. The drop out

:16:30.:16:33.

will come, Hull FC are turning up the screw now. -- Ratchford. We have

:16:34.:16:42.

seen the kicks in behind the winner, exactly what we called for,

:16:43.:16:46.

outstanding from Hull FC, when you felt that Warrington may be looking

:16:47.:16:50.

comfortable, and all of a sudden they are looking shaky. There is an

:16:51.:16:57.

injury as well, I saw the arm go up straight. It is tense at the start,

:16:58.:17:02.

let's hear what was said at half-time. Lee Radford walked by me

:17:03.:17:08.

taking up the high position in the stand, looking calm and relaxed, he

:17:09.:17:14.

has told his players he cannot fault their defensive effort. One two good

:17:15.:17:18.

chances blown in the first half, need to work on field position,

:17:19.:17:24.

back-up the dummy half. In the Warrington camp, Tony Smith very

:17:25.:17:27.

happy with the first hour for his side, said defence will be key and

:17:28.:17:34.

we need to respect the ball, up the kick chase good, try to pin Hull in

:17:35.:17:40.

their own half. Both sides had huge crates of ice taken in at half-time.

:17:41.:17:45.

Houghton runs away from dummy of again, gets the pass away! Tuimavave

:17:46.:17:54.

chopped down less than ten away, the referee says it is another six

:17:55.:17:59.

tackles. Here comes Houghton, and on the right-hand side is Liam Watts.

:18:00.:18:05.

He is that close to the Warrington line. Houghton stands and waits and

:18:06.:18:10.

punches it out to the right-hand side. Warrington take it! That is a

:18:11.:18:18.

winger playing in the central position. What... ?! His brain has

:18:19.:18:26.

exploded in the heat! What the heck is he doing on tackle there?! I

:18:27.:18:34.

cannot answer that. Warrington have been let off. Big mistake. He just

:18:35.:18:44.

blew it. Warrington run hit back. Is certainly a different Hull side now,

:18:45.:18:48.

they were safe in the first half, they did not look for the off-load,

:18:49.:18:52.

but a spate of off-loads in the second half, that has broken the

:18:53.:18:58.

Warrington defence. The King brothers on the field together.

:18:59.:19:07.

Plenty of brothers in arms stories down the years. That is a good

:19:08.:19:14.

chase, that. In these conditions, that is a good distance kick and a

:19:15.:19:15.

good chase. Trying to hustle their way forward

:19:16.:19:36.

again, more collisions. Collected and scampered. Oh, that took a

:19:37.:19:44.

Warrington touch, oh! The referee says not gone. Is the touch judge

:19:45.:19:51.

going to help him? I think he will. It goes to the touch judge. I think

:19:52.:19:58.

this is going to be a reverse decision. It is a mistake. Well done

:19:59.:20:06.

any end. They got it right in the end. The referee unsighted, the

:20:07.:20:13.

touch judge saying, let's have a look at that again. It doesn't

:20:14.:20:16.

matter how they come to the decision as long as it is the correct one.

:20:17.:20:22.

Unfortunately for Minichiello, he thought he was away. But the tackle

:20:23.:20:26.

is made, it is a scrum, let them come down.

:20:27.:20:34.

Garry Schofield, he played in 85 as well.

:20:35.:20:49.

Sneyd back towards the middle again here. It is knocked on. Not gone in

:20:50.:21:05.

the tackle. A glimpse from Manu, questioning, the grimace. There have

:21:06.:21:09.

been a couple of loose carries by Hull, and Warrington have maybe just

:21:10.:21:12.

ignore the ball on this occasion, I think this is a steal. You cannot

:21:13.:21:25.

allow that loose carry. In that case, you are relying on the

:21:26.:21:29.

referee. And there is no need to, just hang onto it. Control what you

:21:30.:21:33.

can control, keep the football secure. Warrington lead 6-0, the

:21:34.:21:42.

story is not done yet. Here is Toby King. Big Brother George.

:21:43.:21:58.

Hill with the off-load, Ratchford. He has lost the ball, he was

:21:59.:22:11.

desperately trying to keep it alive, too many limbs in there, and he has

:22:12.:22:20.

knocked it on. And on come the water carriers. It is certainly exciting,

:22:21.:22:22.

isn't it? It may be tiredness. They are monumental efforts from

:22:23.:22:41.

both sides, they really are. Thoroughly enjoying the game, only

:22:42.:22:45.

one try in it, and that was a mistake. You do not needed to be

:22:46.:22:56.

30-24 to make a great game, when there is will, desire and commitment

:22:57.:23:00.

from the players, in a cauldron like this, it just makes for great event.

:23:01.:23:06.

Liam Watts getting some attention, Gareth Ellis still on the touchline.

:23:07.:23:17.

He is amongst those was so disappointed to miss the previous

:23:18.:23:22.

final, but rather tempered by the fact that he was German back home

:23:23.:23:27.

and witnessed the birth of I think it was his son. -- he was driven

:23:28.:23:36.

back home. There are more important factors in life sometimes. Great

:23:37.:23:44.

tackle. Danny Houghton is at dummy half, as Hull try to move it

:23:45.:23:45.

forward. Big fellas making their presence

:23:46.:23:58.

felt, trying to make Warrington hurt with that latest effort. Manu goes

:23:59.:24:06.

right. Consumed by Warrington defenders. So here comes the sixth

:24:07.:24:10.

tackle, Sneyd, with the left foot, will drive it down the middle.

:24:11.:24:17.

Picked up by Evans, looking for a way out, but it is Minichiello's

:24:18.:24:28.

shoulder he finds. Liam Watts is back on the field now. They have got

:24:29.:24:33.

to get in and do some work now, help their team-mates out, the big

:24:34.:24:37.

forwards, rather than ploughing a lonely furrow. Get in, use quick

:24:38.:24:42.

feet, try to speed the play out. Keep some energy in the tank. Here

:24:43.:24:51.

is Westwood. Taking him into the heart of the Hull defence, a snaking

:24:52.:24:58.

run from dummy half, Clark. Only one tackle to go, Sandow, the little

:24:59.:25:03.

magician with the kick over the top. He shaves his eyes, he catches it,

:25:04.:25:11.

running like a steam train. I have to say, Hughes has been brilliant,

:25:12.:25:14.

the workrate of Jack Hughes has been phenomenal.

:25:15.:25:20.

Some tough bodies doing some tough work at the moment. Good three

:25:21.:25:26.

tackles from the Warrington Wolves defensively.

:25:27.:25:32.

They are going to kick a little earlier, and Sneyd is going are

:25:33.:25:39.

after this as it bounces into the hands of Ratchford.

:25:40.:25:48.

There is a long, long way to go, a long way to go. Promises of mistakes

:25:49.:25:56.

in defence and tries to come. Evans. Gidley into the pocket of defenders,

:25:57.:26:13.

wanting to get the off-load away, and he does. Bennie Westwood on the

:26:14.:26:17.

inside, a step away by there, but a drop out conceded and

:26:18.:26:37.

need the stakes. Mo Farah. And, get up and wins the race, this is very

:26:38.:26:42.

similar! -- falls down. These guys are out on their feet but they are

:26:43.:26:46.

keeping up the quality play. Look at the defensive effort from Fonua,

:26:47.:26:54.

magnificent. I think it is carried, isn't it? It is. He has got the

:26:55.:27:03.

speed, the awareness, lovely kick. Talanoa did a marvellous job,

:27:04.:27:06.

tidying everything up. Back comes Hill. Awaiting more inspiration. You

:27:07.:27:20.

can see the leading tacklers there. 37! Peters played every second of

:27:21.:27:24.

this game, Houghton, a monumental effort. -- he has played. Is

:27:25.:27:29.

straight and is up to go for the line, but Hull are going to hang on,

:27:30.:27:39.

hang on. -- he straightens up. You feel the pace at which they are

:27:40.:27:46.

playing now. I think the Warrington fans are feeling this is a bit of a

:27:47.:27:51.

con, trying to give his side the chance to recover, a little bit of

:27:52.:27:59.

oxygen. I thought he would play on. Well, they could have done that. He

:28:00.:28:06.

could interfere with play there. It is a big call, isn't it? I can

:28:07.:28:12.

understand Bowden's reasoning, to tell the truth. I cannot understand

:28:13.:28:20.

the referee's reasoning, though. If I were a Warrington player, I would

:28:21.:28:26.

not be happy. Warrington come forward again. There is the fourth

:28:27.:28:35.

tackle, two to go in this set. Warrington just a couple of strides

:28:36.:28:42.

away. Spun back to Gidley, Sandow, Ratchford takes it. Last play in the

:28:43.:28:52.

set. Hughes, Sandow puts it high. Where does it come down?! What a

:28:53.:28:59.

take that was by Fonua, who left prodigiously and courted! -- caught

:29:00.:29:07.

it. And Hull begin to ratchet themselves back.

:29:08.:29:11.

Fonua is used to playing on the wing, so he read that exceptionally

:29:12.:29:19.

well. What a great picture that was. Two great fleets competing for a

:29:20.:29:25.

ball. Yeaman on the halfway line. Sneyd under pressure from Hughes

:29:26.:29:29.

gets the kick away. Hughes has done a man to man job on him today.

:29:30.:29:51.

Who is going to crack? Clark... Gidley... Atkins squeezes the ball

:29:52.:30:02.

away under duress. Clark has support on the left-hand side. It's going

:30:03.:30:13.

to be Kevin who dives into the corner. Clark was instrumental. That

:30:14.:30:25.

was like a centre with an outside break. Went on the outside, gave to

:30:26.:30:32.

ball early to Currie and Currie zipped on the touchline. A

:30:33.:30:37.

brilliant, brilliant try. Absolutely magnificent. High-quality rugby

:30:38.:30:42.

league. We said who was going to crack first. Well, Hull FC have

:30:43.:30:49.

cracked first on the back of outstanding rugby from Daryl Clark.

:30:50.:30:52.

Look at the footwork there. Offloading comes. Clark is hunting

:30:53.:30:58.

space, sees the space, puts his foot down. He looks like a winger.

:30:59.:31:07.

Absolutely quality from Clark initially and with his decision

:31:08.:31:14.

making and execution and from Currie to seal the try. A brilliant

:31:15.:31:21.

outside. All from the two offloads. A brilliant finish. The England

:31:22.:31:28.

rugby league side is blessed with a real depth of talent. Certainly in

:31:29.:31:32.

the forward pack at the moment, and Ben Currie is very much a part of

:31:33.:31:35.

that depth of talent. Get your best players on. Put them

:31:36.:31:44.

on the field. That's right. It is much more testing on the

:31:45.:32:02.

touchline but how often do they land them from here when they miss the

:32:03.:32:10.

easy ones? Gidley convince it in. Has he pushed it wide? He has. It

:32:11.:32:19.

drops not only wide but short. Two kicks, they are tired kicks. He

:32:20.:32:27.

looks tired. Acceleration. The wing ser drawn in. Only Shaul pulled back

:32:28.:32:33.

but the pass is too good, but there is too much pace. Brilliant try.

:32:34.:32:38.

We've got Daryl Clark Miked up as well. We'll hear from him later.

:32:39.:32:51.

Taken by Ratchford. A penalty there. Fonua was taken off the ball by

:32:52.:32:56.

Atkins. Two complaints amongst the Hull players.

:32:57.:33:08.

The next score is vital. Hill taken it forward. Clark, at dummy half,

:33:09.:33:23.

goes right. Hughes, the last time Hull were here they lost 16-0, in

:33:24.:33:29.

2013. At the moment they trail by 10 point to nil. That's a good kick but

:33:30.:33:38.

it is taken away. Clattered into. More of a hip charge than a shoulder

:33:39.:33:45.

charge. He has blooded the book of his head. And they get a penalty

:33:46.:33:52.

here. A chance to clear that line once again. Testing times for the

:33:53.:34:01.

Black and Whites. Hang on in and one of the big players got to cope with

:34:02.:34:06.

a big player. For me his arms are down. No wrapping of the arms there.

:34:07.:34:12.

Penalty. A clash of heads there has led to both of them having a bloody

:34:13.:34:15.

conclusion. That's it, put a lump of Vas on it

:34:16.:34:34.

and then a couple of stitches in. This goes short, Fonua. That the a

:34:35.:34:41.

penalty. He's taken out. Is that Atkins? That's a penalty. I don't

:34:42.:34:47.

know about that, Jonathan. I think he played for that. I disagree. That

:34:48.:34:52.

was a clear penalty. He's not even going back in the direction of the

:34:53.:35:05.

ball. You can protect the full-back. Sneyd will be looking for distance

:35:06.:35:11.

here. Safety of touch. They need to ball now. Hull need to keep the ball

:35:12.:35:18.

and keep possession. Possession is 58% to 42% and territory is 61%.

:35:19.:35:23.

They need possession, need to build their confidence. Get the ball in

:35:24.:35:28.

hand. It could put pressure on Warrington. Scott Taylor 40 metres

:35:29.:35:34.

from the Warrington line. Still four tackles left, so it is a goodish

:35:35.:35:39.

position that Hull find themselves in. Minichiello... Has it gone back

:35:40.:35:46.

towards no, the referee got it spot on. He lost it in the collision. It

:35:47.:35:51.

is frustrating for the Black and Whites at the moment. I think it was

:35:52.:36:00.

Gidley. Is that Gidley? Yeah, it is. He is tackling like a back rower.

:36:01.:36:08.

He's bleeding from the head. He is putting some big hits in. He is

:36:09.:36:14.

doing everyone on the field a favour. He might be hurting but a

:36:15.:36:19.

few lungs are burning, so they can take another break here. He cop as

:36:20.:36:26.

right hook from Jack Hughes. Minichiello is such a dangerous

:36:27.:36:30.

runner. Has good footwork and space. Comes up hard. You've got to take

:36:31.:36:34.

his space. Got to get your shoulder in there and you've got be brave.

:36:35.:36:39.

All ticked. This doesn't look very good for Warrington. That bloke's

:36:40.:36:58.

been brilliant today, Jack Hughes. Spent last year at Huddersfield. He

:36:59.:37:06.

was previously at Wigan. I think he is going off. Gidley comes off, not

:37:07.:37:20.

looking very good. That's giving everything for the cause isn't it.

:37:21.:37:26.

Westwood is going to be taking his place in just a moment. I think

:37:27.:37:37.

they'll put Westwood in the back row, put Hughes in the centre and

:37:38.:37:45.

put young Toby King as a pivot. They've got Ratchford out there as

:37:46.:37:50.

well. That was a big blow for them though. He's had a big game. His

:37:51.:37:59.

place kicking hasn't been the best but he's had a big game. Defensively

:38:00.:38:12.

he's been absolutely immense. Sims with a lot of effort again but it is

:38:13.:38:16.

well matched by the Hull defenders, who are keeping it tight. King goes

:38:17.:38:23.

down the centre. And now it goes left as Sandow puts the kick over

:38:24.:38:29.

the top. Shaul has to take it. Atkins almost collars him. Shaul

:38:30.:38:32.

gets away but there is more there to cover. They like that corner don't

:38:33.:38:37.

they? I thought they played, the sun is strong in the players' eyes. I

:38:38.:38:43.

think the ball came free there. I'm not sure. So Hull with a bit of a

:38:44.:39:00.

bargain extra 10 yards. Taken in by Green. Still goes backwards but they

:39:01.:39:04.

are on their fifth tackle and they are not on "the Hoff" way yet. So

:39:05.:39:08.

Hull really are up against it at the moment. Sneyd gets a kick away from

:39:09.:39:12.

behind the 40-metre mark and it goes out of play! Talk about moments in

:39:13.:39:18.

matches, that could be massive, because that kick from Sneyd has

:39:19.:39:22.

taken Hull from being... Oh, hang on. Yes, he has given Hull. But that

:39:23.:39:29.

kick from Sneyd has turned the whole thing around here. It is a momentum

:39:30.:39:33.

changer. They are checking that it is within the 40, but he spotted

:39:34.:39:38.

where the space. Is he's executed the kick brilliantly. What a kick! I

:39:39.:39:46.

think he's in. By a mile. Two significant moments. Gidley going

:39:47.:39:51.

off, and that kick. Two big, big moments. And now they need the

:39:52.:40:04.

points. Wow! You saw the big tackles and big breaks, but that big kick up

:40:05.:40:12.

there amongst them. It is Warrington's job now to neutralise

:40:13.:40:16.

that kick from Sneyd, with six big tackles. There is one. Sneyd is

:40:17.:40:23.

involved again. Head snaps back from Greening that was, but he gets up

:40:24.:40:28.

and plays. Houghton to the left-hand side. An effort from Gareth Ellis.

:40:29.:40:34.

But equally urgent for the Warrington defence. Houghton poised.

:40:35.:40:39.

The Hull defence likewise. Sneyd again, to Minichiello. Minichiello

:40:40.:40:43.

with the footwork but too many to beat in the end. Two tackles. A

:40:44.:40:51.

couple of tackles to go. They are offering it up and they are over the

:40:52.:40:57.

line. They go back to the 10 metre long. The sixth tackle. This is

:40:58.:41:02.

going up in the air. I think they will target Sandow in the centre. A

:41:03.:41:12.

high one from Steve. From Sneyd. And it is taken and it is scored. Oh my

:41:13.:41:20.

word! What a turnaround. Mahe Fonua has scored a try that lifts Hull's

:41:21.:41:26.

hopes and hearts. I saw the organising in it and saw the kick.

:41:27.:41:32.

Fonua had taken a great high Paul on his own line, so why not target the

:41:33.:41:37.

small man, put it in the air. That was a brilliant take again. My word,

:41:38.:41:45.

Sneyd has come up with two absolute peaches. Peach number one, the

:41:46.:41:50.

40-20. Executed to perfection. Brilliant. And at the end of the set

:41:51.:41:56.

and we've got peach number two, which is a beautiful lofted kick on

:41:57.:42:04.

Sandow's head. Great catching of the ball, Talanoa. He is going to come

:42:05.:42:08.

down with the ball. He's going to come down with the four points. Mahe

:42:09.:42:15.

Fonua, what a try! He organised it. When they were over in the try line,

:42:16.:42:20.

over the try line, he was organising it. He said right, it's going up.

:42:21.:42:30.

The Hull fans are all on their feet. It is a collective nervousness which

:42:31.:42:34.

has driven them to their feet. They can't sit down because they are on

:42:35.:42:37.

edge, because their side is back in the game. To our right the

:42:38.:42:43.

Warrington fans is it motionless and mainly in silence, as they know what

:42:44.:42:49.

a blow that might prove to. Game on. Sneyd with the kick. This awkward

:42:50.:42:54.

kicking style he has but which so often is so effective. Glares at

:42:55.:42:59.

where he wants the ball to go... Swings the left boot... The Hull

:43:00.:43:07.

fans, the roar tells you about the success there. Sneyd puts it over.

:43:08.:43:13.

Heavy are back in it. Hull 6, Warrington 10. Momentum, momentum,

:43:14.:43:23.

momentum. Two great kicks by Sneyd, and the injury to Kurt Gidley. I

:43:24.:43:26.

think as a dropped ball you've got to take a dropped ball. This is a

:43:27.:43:30.

tight affair. You've got an opportunity. Even if it is this

:43:31.:43:35.

material. But there is only four points in it, a dropped ball makes

:43:36.:43:47.

it five. Without wishing to get too gory, he has a nasty cut on his left

:43:48.:43:53.

eye. They are trying to put microstitches in it but he has a

:43:54.:43:57.

touch of concussion, so it is touch and go whether we'll see Kurt Gidley

:43:58.:44:05.

back on the pitch. We talk over the years about momentum switches, can

:44:06.:44:09.

Warrington regather their thoughts and their poise? Will they quell

:44:10.:44:13.

this new-found enthusiasm amongst the ranks of the Black and Whites?

:44:14.:44:20.

I'm with you, Dave. Warrington need to fight fire with fire here. I

:44:21.:44:25.

reckon the crowd stands at 55% Hull FC fans and they are all back their

:44:26.:44:29.

team. There's a new-found energy the Hull FC team. What Warrington need

:44:30.:44:33.

to do is stick to their guns and get back up the field and put pressure

:44:34.:44:37.

back on Hull. That kick from Houghton might have been better but

:44:38.:44:41.

it was made pretty good by the chase from the Hull defenders. Warrington

:44:42.:44:48.

bringing it out now. Atkins. Simple, effective stuff there they are

:44:49.:44:51.

looking for here to drive downfield. To silence, this wall of noise which

:44:52.:44:56.

is building behind our backs from the Hull fans. Towards a halfway

:44:57.:45:05.

line. Ratchford. Ashton Sims. Tackled by... Sandow again looking

:45:06.:45:08.

for the touchline. Doesn't find it. Great chase. Talanoa trying to find

:45:09.:45:27.

an escape. I think that is why they have been kicking to the corner so

:45:28.:45:34.

much, Michaels and Talanoa. Westwood has hurt himself making that tackle,

:45:35.:45:41.

he has landed very awkwardly. He is going off. Hull with renewed energy.

:45:42.:45:50.

Two tackles left in this set as well. 16 minutes to play, loads of

:45:51.:45:56.

time as well. This is the man who lifted them, and here he goes again,

:45:57.:46:01.

all picked up rather smartly by Ratchford. That was a half chance,

:46:02.:46:08.

that. Half chance for both. Bradford is cramping up. Fonua is down as

:46:09.:46:17.

well, it is all happening now. The conditions are absolutely brutal.

:46:18.:46:22.

There is the half chance. They are going to stop the clock there. A

:46:23.:46:30.

half chance for Hull, and then a few steps away... Yeah, magnificent,

:46:31.:46:34.

this, what a great effort from both teams. A proper, proper final. It

:46:35.:46:46.

is. The new Wembley has its classic. 15 minutes still to enjoy. The Hull

:46:47.:46:53.

fans. Yeah, the Warrington... The Hull people belting it out, the

:46:54.:47:21.

Warrington fans trying to reply. Classic tries by this man. He

:47:22.:47:26.

doesn't know much about dressing, does he?! Tanya Arnold, what are you

:47:27.:47:33.

saying? Ben Westwood has gone off down the tunnel with a shoulder,

:47:34.:47:38.

ligament damage, and several of them have got cramp at there. Remember

:47:39.:47:43.

what Kevin Sinfield said, they are all suffering after 60 minutes.

:47:44.:47:47.

Clerk at dummy half, Warrington and Sandown needs inspiration. It does

:47:48.:47:54.

not come like that, Atkins, well, put that down to fatigue. I would

:47:55.:48:02.

agree with you totally, the pass is good enough, he should have taken

:48:03.:48:05.

that in, but there is a collective belief among the Hull FC following.

:48:06.:48:10.

All of a sudden they started believing, and they are doing their

:48:11.:48:15.

best to raise their team. Is this going to be their day, when they

:48:16.:48:23.

finally laid to rest the historical fact that they hate to be reminded

:48:24.:48:27.

of, they have never won at Wembley? They have still got a big job to do,

:48:28.:48:32.

and Warrington are looking for a way back in. Both teams will get

:48:33.:48:37.

chances, David, in this last 15 minutes, both teams. Houghton.

:48:38.:48:54.

Tuimavave put it back on the inside. Fonua, Washbrook. He has added a

:48:55.:49:03.

zest to them, Washbrook, he has picked them up. Danny Houghton. A

:49:04.:49:11.

little step from Sneyd, tries to put the kick in, it is another set six,

:49:12.:49:22.

it another set, and it starts here. Warrington backs to the wall at the

:49:23.:49:27.

moment, carried in. Warrington with a job to do. How did goes to Sneyd,

:49:28.:49:36.

back inside. What an off-load, Ellis! The defenders rounding up to

:49:37.:49:40.

put him down. So Minichiello in that position, he

:49:41.:49:58.

swings it back to Houghton, here comes Sneyd with a kick over the

:49:59.:50:08.

top. Michaels, has he got enough on that to claim it as a try? On the

:50:09.:50:15.

field, the referee says no try, but we are going to hear for the first

:50:16.:50:19.

time in its final from the video referee. We have got no try on the

:50:20.:50:34.

field. Stop it on the kick. All the guys on the right are on site, there

:50:35.:50:38.

are players in the middle of the field. Everybody there is OK. Draw a

:50:39.:50:45.

point there. The men in the middle stay out of play, so that is fine. I

:50:46.:50:49.

just want to look at the ball now, please, so a close-up of the ball.

:50:50.:50:56.

It is grounded by Hull. I needed really slow. Nobody is touching the

:50:57.:51:03.

ball at present, still nobody. It is touched by Radford. It is touched by

:51:04.:51:10.

Ratchford there. Can I just go to make sure, after Radford touches the

:51:11.:51:17.

ball, it is not touched by Hull? He touches it backwards. Just make sure

:51:18.:51:21.

that Hull do not get a touch on the ball afterwards. So here we are on

:51:22.:51:26.

this close-up, from this site. Right. That is the hand of

:51:27.:51:35.

Ratchford. No hand on that by Hull. So on those angles I have got there,

:51:36.:51:44.

I will just look at this one. Right, there is no touch by Hull, it is

:51:45.:51:49.

knocked back by Stefan Ratchford, so no try, goal-line drop out.

:51:50.:51:58.

Well, the Hull fans were cheering, but I think they recognised that

:51:59.:52:03.

they will get the ball back. No try, but they will get the ball back.

:52:04.:52:09.

Great play, brilliant kick by Sneyd. He was late, late in realising that

:52:10.:52:14.

the kick was dangerous. But brilliant defensive play by

:52:15.:52:19.

Ratchford. Hull, you know, they are turning the screw now. It is another

:52:20.:52:23.

of those moments, down the years will we talk about that touch by

:52:24.:52:30.

Ratchford that saved the game? They brought the wing man up, slid it

:52:31.:52:33.

behind him, almost came up with the goods. We need a ball here. Here it

:52:34.:52:43.

comes, someone had smuggled it away! So well done, Stefan Ratchford,

:52:44.:52:48.

because had he not done that, Hull would have been level with a kick to

:52:49.:52:55.

come. But there is still a lot of work to do for this Warrington

:52:56.:53:00.

defence. Unless this kick finds touch, what a drop out! And another

:53:01.:53:06.

moment, it is knocked on by Talanoa, and Warrington, expecting to defend

:53:07.:53:11.

their own line, will now get the ball back inside their opponents'

:53:12.:53:15.

own half. You have got to catch that, if the ball is in the air for

:53:16.:53:19.

50 yards, someone has got to catch it. He cannot let it go dead. You

:53:20.:53:26.

catch it on the full, you have to catch it on the full. No-one

:53:27.:53:31.

committed to it. It was not a bad drop out, was it?! No, but from the

:53:32.:53:37.

Hull perspective, Lee Radford will not be saying that was a great kick.

:53:38.:53:45.

Stefan Ratchford, two moments there. Is he your man? 12 minutes to go,

:53:46.:53:50.

and lots more of these little moments to come. It is great, isn't

:53:51.:54:01.

it? One try and a goal to take the lead, one goal would put Warrington

:54:02.:54:05.

back in the comfort zone. I do not know how the players are feeling,

:54:06.:54:08.

but I am exhausted! It is training. On a bit flat now, you can see the

:54:09.:54:23.

energy levels have dropped, incredibly so, it has been such a

:54:24.:54:28.

top game. Here comes the final tackle, the referee has put his arm

:54:29.:54:32.

in the air, Sandow with a sneaky trip over the top, but waiting there

:54:33.:54:39.

was Taylor. Not a good end. Repeats set, that is what you want at this

:54:40.:54:40.

time in the game. Sneyd shovelling it, Minichiello

:54:41.:54:51.

trying to keep it alive, make Warrington harder. Here is Ellis,

:54:52.:54:58.

straightening things up. We are getting close to the time when the

:54:59.:55:05.

iconic man of the match trophy is announced. That is a tough call

:55:06.:55:12.

today. It may well need not be decided, because there are some big

:55:13.:55:20.

plays to come. The kick which Ratchford will chase, good chase. In

:55:21.:55:28.

the dying embers of the game, Matty Russell, still fleet of foot.

:55:29.:55:36.

And he has fumbled, and he has given Hull possession by knocking on. 30

:55:37.:55:47.

metres away from the Warrington line, head and feed for those in

:55:48.:55:52.

black and white. Look at this, nobody is touching him, he just

:55:53.:55:57.

drops it clean. Diaz got a tendency for that, how he carries the ball in

:55:58.:56:03.

that one arm. -- he has. It has been crucial over the years, and my word,

:56:04.:56:11.

that is a crucial error. Close now, isn't it? Whoever you support, even

:56:12.:56:20.

if you aren't neutral, they are really beginning to stretch. The

:56:21.:56:24.

Hull fans are urging their side on for one more big effort. One school

:56:25.:56:32.

is all it will take. We might not even have a winner today, we might

:56:33.:56:37.

be going to a replay. -- one school. It would be a week on Wednesday, in

:56:38.:56:45.

case you are wondering. I hope not! Someone deserves to win this. Here

:56:46.:56:54.

comes Taylor, they are inching closer and closer with four tackles

:56:55.:56:58.

still to come. Houghton again goes to that right-hand side. It is

:56:59.:57:03.

Sandow, he drops in self on the ball. He clutches it to his chest.

:57:04.:57:12.

You cannot be playing the clock yet, there is ten minutes. Warrington

:57:13.:57:16.

have stopped playing, Hull are forcing it, it is ten minutes to go.

:57:17.:57:24.

Take the tackle, you know,... Nine minutes and counting. Clark has been

:57:25.:57:36.

excellent. Darrell Clark. Ratchford. They are on to the last tackle

:57:37.:57:47.

again, and they are deeper. It is hit another player, it is still the

:57:48.:57:51.

sixth tackle, so Currie will have to kick it, and that is not a bad one,

:57:52.:57:56.

who knows where it will bounce? Luckily for Hull, it bounces out of

:57:57.:57:58.

play. He could be the only player ever to

:57:59.:58:26.

have won two Challenge Cup finals if they win today. This is what you

:58:27.:58:27.

want to see. Just look at them, they are out on

:58:28.:58:43.

their feet, Minichiello. This is where the game is played. Two

:58:44.:58:48.

tackles, carry the ball aggressively, and try Talanoa again.

:58:49.:58:54.

It is white, it is Michaels, he comes back down the middle, recovery

:58:55.:58:57.

from Matty Russell. Where are they going this time?

:58:58.:59:09.

Steve puts it up in the air. And back it comes, and Jamie Shaul! The

:59:10.:59:15.

Black and Whites are bouncing up and down. Shaul's first. First. It's all

:59:16.:59:23.

level. It might be a kick to win it for Hull FC. That's what it means.

:59:24.:59:33.

And again it's the kick where you compete for it. There was nothing on

:59:34.:59:38.

and all of a sudden he pops the ball in the air. I think it's been Fonua

:59:39.:59:49.

again who gets to it. He he hits the ball in the air. Gives it a little

:59:50.:59:56.

dink. Fonua, lovely awareness by Sneyd. This one finishes under the

:59:57.:00:06.

posts. Well, that's his third excellent kick, Sneyd Sneyd Sneyd,

:00:07.:00:10.

and it was to that man, Mahe Fonua, who has come up with the goods. Back

:00:11.:00:16.

into Sneyd's pathway and he picks up the supporting Shaul on the inside.

:00:17.:00:24.

Ashton Sims tells a picture there. That's cool, mind. It isn't won yet.

:00:25.:00:37.

What a game. We said Warrington might have stopped playing. Now they

:00:38.:00:44.

have to play. There's a nervous buzz amongst those Hull fans who know how

:00:45.:00:51.

close they are. What is he feeling? What's going through his mind at the

:00:52.:00:59.

moment, Marc Sneyd? Memories of '68. They different conditions. But they

:01:00.:01:07.

are missable, even from here. Down the years, for generations to come,

:01:08.:01:15.

Hull fans will talk about that kick and this is that kick. All that

:01:16.:01:22.

history and heart-break of never having won at Wembley, this could be

:01:23.:01:28.

the moment in which all of that is rewritten and forgotten. Marc Sneyd

:01:29.:01:32.

settles in for the biggest kick of his life. Life. As simple as it is,

:01:33.:01:38.

he has to put it over and he has put it over! And Hull, with only minutes

:01:39.:01:45.

to go, find themselves in a winning position. If they can't celebrate,

:01:46.:01:55.

they can't relax. No way. There are still some rugby league in this

:01:56.:02:01.

game. Look at the emotions. This will be a short kick will it? No,

:02:02.:02:08.

there are still six massive minutes to play. With Hull you kick it long

:02:09.:02:22.

and kick it out of bound. When they won

:02:23.:02:35.

We asked when they took place whether these moments would matter.

:02:36.:02:41.

This was Gidley early in the second half. Normally he would stroke them

:02:42.:02:47.

over no problem. And then wide on the left-hand side. We've seen Sneyd

:02:48.:02:53.

pick a simple one. That was a miss from Gidley. Didn't strike the ball

:02:54.:02:58.

well in either kick. With the second one, if it gets over, great. The

:02:59.:03:04.

first one is a bad miss. The problem with Wembley, for all the glory it

:03:05.:03:08.

brings to somebody, somebody's heart has to break. That's the nature of

:03:09.:03:12.

the event. But Warrington are not out of this yet. There are still

:03:13.:03:22.

five minutes to go. He wants to get a kick downfield as good as it can

:03:23.:03:26.

be. He wants it to hold up and it does that. He knows there's a pack

:03:27.:03:39.

of hooves behind him. It is whoever wants it most. All those years of

:03:40.:03:44.

history and inspire these Black and Whites to want it the most. It is as

:03:45.:03:49.

if they've got an extra leg. They've got more energy. But they've gone

:03:50.:03:54.

wide and they've got danger. Hughes, what a game he's had. Dwyer with a

:03:55.:04:02.

dummy and off he goes. But they rein him in and pull him down. Now Sandow

:04:03.:04:14.

is ushering Westerman on the inside. He shrugs off one defender. Is it

:04:15.:04:19.

going to run out of play? No it is not... Yes, it does. All that done,

:04:20.:04:28.

Hull wanted to scrum, Warrington wanted it. It needs to be up in the

:04:29.:04:37.

air. A poor decision. Look at the... You've got to put it up in the air

:04:38.:04:42.

and compete for it. You never ever know what's going to happen. But if

:04:43.:04:47.

the ball is going to go out of touch, you walk, you have a chat,

:04:48.:04:50.

take a breath. Big gulps of water and oxygen. The

:04:51.:05:07.

body is saying quit if you can. The head is saying let's just do it for

:05:08.:05:12.

another four minutes. One side or the other. Lee Radford would love to

:05:13.:05:18.

be out there, and Tony Smith, but all they can do is sit and watch.

:05:19.:05:24.

I'm not sure if you can enjoy these moments, even as a player. You want

:05:25.:05:31.

to win this game now. You can't afford to relax. Less than four

:05:32.:05:42.

minutes and Hull FC are praying there'll be no mistakes. Talanoa

:05:43.:05:48.

doing his job. Warrington saying let's get into them, let's minimise

:05:49.:05:52.

their go forward and justle this ball through if we can. A shoulder

:05:53.:05:59.

hit under the ball. Got to do something, you can't be passing.

:06:00.:06:05.

Make things happen. Houghton is going to get behind the 40 metre

:06:06.:06:11.

mark. No, his chase is good. He'll be happy with that. When you win it

:06:12.:06:18.

is easier, the chase is were. The chase is better. Ratchford carrying

:06:19.:06:26.

it forward, not a lot of support there. Three minutes and counting.

:06:27.:06:38.

Evans up to dummy half goes Dwyer. King coming back to this right-hand

:06:39.:06:42.

side. Hughes. Needs someone to take it forward here. Is Hughes that man?

:06:43.:06:49.

They've got to do something here. Clark. Westerman. Rolls it in.

:06:50.:06:58.

Westerman is still going! Westerman... 20 metres away. Last

:06:59.:07:07.

tackle in the set. Sandow. Out it goes. Currie puts the kick in. .

:07:08.:07:18.

It's another set of six! Six tackles to go. Sandow... Hill. Put down.

:07:19.:07:26.

Five tackles in this set. It is won and lost here. Sandow again. Wide,

:07:27.:07:33.

Atkins. Should have got an extra man. Played back to Sandow. Sandow

:07:34.:07:39.

lobbs it over the top. Currie springs up. Up. And he's lost it! He

:07:40.:07:55.

was a hero 20 minutes ago and now he's wondering has he let the

:07:56.:08:01.

company final slip? But what about that effort? He has been in over

:08:02.:08:05.

1,000 tackles Danny Houghton this season. That's the most important

:08:06.:08:11.

one. And he's been on that field for 78 minutes and 21 seconds, playing

:08:12.:08:17.

in the middle channel, running the dummy half and contributing

:08:18.:08:19.

defensively. He's been immense, that man. He's been brilliant. 52

:08:20.:08:28.

tackles. That could be the Man of the Match tackle. The only ever Hull

:08:29.:08:35.

player to win that trophy was Tommy Harris in 1960. His side that day

:08:36.:08:43.

were beaten 38-5 by Wakefield. They give it almost as a sympathy vote.

:08:44.:08:50.

But what a tackle. You feel that Currie, all he had to do was hang on

:08:51.:08:58.

to it and slide over. He was over. 52 tackles, that's unbelievable. And

:08:59.:09:04.

in this weather. That's more than my tackles for a season.

:09:05.:09:11.

Fonua. They have one more chance, Warrington. They will get the ball

:09:12.:09:32.

back in their hands again. I thought he stole that then. Scott Taylor

:09:33.:09:38.

almost going forward. Sneyd with a kick. Here we go. One minute to

:09:39.:09:45.

play. Oh, Ratchford... That's OK. It is a fumble but that's OK. 90 yards.

:09:46.:09:54.

Five tackles to make history, that's what Hull have got. Searching and

:09:55.:10:02.

searching. Guess who is there to make tackle 58. Evans running it.

:10:03.:10:09.

Put down. They need a break. A line break. Across the line they take it.

:10:10.:10:16.

Atkins. He's got a bit of speed. 30 seconds. It's back to Sandow. This

:10:17.:10:21.

is it. Towards the middle. Sandow flicks it back on the inside and

:10:22.:10:26.

here comes Currie. Currie to Ratchford. Ratchford throws it out.

:10:27.:10:33.

Westerman. Westerman spins it back. Sandow is there, but from nor Watts

:10:34.:10:40.

came in... The Cup Final is won! Listen to the noise for the Black

:10:41.:10:44.

and Whites! CHEERING. That's it! History is made

:10:45.:10:53.

in the most dramatic of circumstances. The new Wembley

:10:54.:11:02.

explosive final. Look at those Warrington players, collapsed in

:11:03.:11:08.

sheer exhaustion and disappointment. Hull FC have made a name for

:11:09.:11:14.

themselves today. No more can they say they've never won at Wembley.

:11:15.:11:20.

They have won at Wembley, and, boy, how have they won at Wembley! What

:11:21.:11:27.

an amazing game. Great play. I thought the two significant points

:11:28.:11:33.

were the Sneyd kick, the 40-20. Gidley going off was significant as

:11:34.:11:37.

well. But they clawed their way back, changed their tactic, went to

:11:38.:11:40.

offload, created opportunities and they took them. A brilliant game of

:11:41.:11:46.

rugby. Well done, Hull. Absolutely magnificent. It really was. If ever

:11:47.:11:52.

there's been a final that's won through sheer desire and sheer will,

:11:53.:11:56.

it's this one. Both teams were absolutely on their feet from

:11:57.:12:00.

somewhere this black and white team found the energy in order to

:12:01.:12:06.

complete the victory. Absolutely outstanding game of rugby league. An

:12:07.:12:12.

epic, a classic Challenge Cup final. The trophy by the way I'm told Marc

:12:13.:12:22.

Sneyd has been given the trophy. He becomes the first temperature Hull

:12:23.:12:26.

FC player to win that trophy and the winner's medal on the same day. He

:12:27.:12:33.

is now speaking is Damien Johnson. Mark, many congratulations. You've

:12:34.:12:38.

done it tough to win this Challenge Cup. Yeah, it took a while to get

:12:39.:12:44.

into it. The same reaction as when we played Wigan. We've gone in at

:12:45.:12:49.

half-time. Not scored a try and we've come out with a great attitude

:12:50.:12:53.

and rattled them a bit and took our chances. Tell me about your thought

:12:54.:12:59.

processes as you kicked for victory. Get it over. Just the same thought

:13:00.:13:06.

processes every single one. Luckily enough it was easier on that last

:13:07.:13:11.

one, so I'm thankful that happened. This is a personal redemption for

:13:12.:13:15.

you after what happened a few years ago. A little bit. Unbelievable

:13:16.:13:20.

feeling. Congratulations. You are the Man of the Match. Mahe Fonua is

:13:21.:13:28.

with us. Step in Mahe. What's the feeling like? First of all I would

:13:29.:13:33.

like to thank God for the opportunity. I would like to thank

:13:34.:13:38.

this club for the opportunity to play and for Hull FC fan for making

:13:39.:13:42.

the trip to Wembley. It is a great feeling. Hull have never won a

:13:43.:13:47.

Challenge Cup final at Wembley before today. You've laid a ghost to

:13:48.:13:59.

rest. It is good to put that hoodoo to rest. Being a young fella from

:14:00.:14:04.

Melbourne, I know there is heaps of history about this game. I knew

:14:05.:14:09.

about the hoodoo they had, and it is great to be a part of it. What about

:14:10.:14:14.

the fans? They've waited so long. I am so happy to give back to them.

:14:15.:14:19.

I've only been here 8 months but they've been here since day one. I'm

:14:20.:14:23.

happy to give back to them. Well done. Gareth Ellis, you've done it

:14:24.:14:30.

the hard way haven't you? Yeah, I don't know if people watching would

:14:31.:14:33.

appreciate how much hard work that was, to come back from 10-0 down I

:14:34.:14:39.

think it was. Not an open game, but a tough, gritty game. The lads

:14:40.:14:43.

worked so hard. It means so much to me and this group of players and to

:14:44.:14:47.

this club. I'm lost for words really. Thank you. Thank you.

:14:48.:14:54.

Lee Radford adjoins us, the winning coach. They are never going to talk

:14:55.:15:01.

about Hull never winning at Wembley again. They are going to be change

:15:02.:15:05.

the lyrics, I think! That 50 seconds tackle of the game, the most

:15:06.:15:11.

important tackle for anyone in the city. We knocked off Catalans,

:15:12.:15:20.

Wigan, Saints, and now Warrington, I do not think anyone can begrudge us

:15:21.:15:24.

taking the trophy home to Hull. I am really proud of the owner, who

:15:25.:15:29.

finance this club in difficult circumstances, so pleased for his

:15:30.:15:32.

stubbornness, not to get rid of me through the tough times, I am over

:15:33.:15:38.

the moon. Houghton was immense, but they all were. We did not play

:15:39.:15:42.

pretty by any stretch, there were some periods where we just looked

:15:43.:15:47.

gone. We flattened a bit, and the kicks at the end, towards the end,

:15:48.:15:51.

it is something we spoke about all week, and to see it come to fruition

:15:52.:16:00.

was phenomenal. Diddley was the turning point. I feel for him,

:16:01.:16:10.

because he is a champion player. -- Gidley. The surroundings can do

:16:11.:16:15.

strange things to players, I feel for him, I really do. Incredible

:16:16.:16:19.

scenes, how much does this mean to you? It means the club belongs where

:16:20.:16:26.

it needs to be, for me and my family, and all them fans, it is a

:16:27.:16:31.

dream come true. That tackle in the dying minutes, you will never make

:16:32.:16:35.

one more important. Never in my life, if that is the last one I

:16:36.:16:40.

make, I will die a happy man. I cannot speak, I am over the moon.

:16:41.:16:45.

Hewlett-Packard with emotion. I don't know what to say, we are a

:16:46.:16:51.

tight bunch, to succeed with these boys is everything. -- you look

:16:52.:17:00.

racked with emotion. You can see how hard we work for each other, when

:17:01.:17:04.

our backs are to the wall, when somebody comes through with a

:17:05.:17:08.

special play, we will celebrate hard, we deserve it. How special are

:17:09.:17:13.

these moments? I have never finished it, I will cherish it, I hope there

:17:14.:17:18.

are more to come, but we will have a good night tonight. Many

:17:19.:17:24.

congratulations. He is a Hull lad, Danny Houghton,

:17:25.:17:30.

and Brian Noble, that tackle will go down in Challenge Cup folklore. He

:17:31.:17:36.

makes 60 tackles every game, but he will remember that for the rest of

:17:37.:17:42.

his life, he wins the game for Hull, innocence. He just epitomised

:17:43.:17:51.

himself, and the club. Yes! You see it again, and you see Ben Currie's

:17:52.:17:56.

face as he realises the ball has come out of his hands, that sums up

:17:57.:18:02.

sport in one facial expression. Them are the fine lines, that is why we

:18:03.:18:07.

watch sport, why we want to be involved in sport, that close

:18:08.:18:11.

between winning and losing, great moment. What a moment for Danny

:18:12.:18:15.

Houghton, Hull lad, to come up with the tackle. The consequences of it

:18:16.:18:21.

being unsuccessful were grim. To make that tackle under the biggest

:18:22.:18:27.

amount of pressure is just a moment that will last through the history

:18:28.:18:32.

of the Challenge Cup. That is the iconic Challenge Cup moment for the

:18:33.:18:38.

history of the competition now. Alongside Kirk Yeaman, he has been

:18:39.:18:43.

there during the dark times, Danny Houghton has not known success at

:18:44.:18:48.

club level, but he has stuck at it. Finally, he has got there and won

:18:49.:18:53.

the Cup. We will get some more reaction, for every winner there is

:18:54.:18:56.

a loser, and from the balcony looking down on the pitch,

:18:57.:19:00.

Warrington have conducted themselves in a really classy way, led by Tony

:19:01.:19:07.

Smith, who is down there. Such narrow margins, you must have

:19:08.:19:10.

thought, when Ben Currie slid in that maybe you had got it. A game of

:19:11.:19:17.

inches sometimes, and we probably just allowed them in with a few

:19:18.:19:20.

errors in the second half, and our kicking game in the second half was

:19:21.:19:24.

not as good as theirs. I thought we did a pretty good job in the first

:19:25.:19:31.

half, second half, two or really three big kicks, like we did in the

:19:32.:19:36.

first, and they can be the difference. A game of inches, not

:19:37.:19:40.

much between the two teams. I thought it was a great game of rugby

:19:41.:19:45.

league. We hurt, we do not like the feeling of it, we have got to handle

:19:46.:19:49.

it with dignity, and we will learn from it. How is Kurt Gidley? Nacho.

:19:50.:19:58.

We will have to check on him, he has got a lacerated eyelid, we will make

:19:59.:20:03.

sure he is OK, we will check on him, he could not come back on the field

:20:04.:20:12.

of play. Congratulations to Hull, they were terrific, they have had to

:20:13.:20:16.

do at the hard way to get here. Not much between us. Thanks, Tony.

:20:17.:20:26.

That is a really class interview. From a class club as well, the way

:20:27.:20:30.

they project the image of the game, the way they behave to the culture

:20:31.:20:35.

of the people. It is sad to say, it is tragic, isn't it? But Tony Smith

:20:36.:20:39.

absolutely encompasses that, you have to wear it on the chin.

:20:40.:20:43.

Sometimes losing makes you a better winner. All 34 players contributed

:20:44.:20:54.

to a great game, we talk about attrition, we talk about commitment

:20:55.:20:59.

and will, wanting to win. That was there in bucketloads. To go to a big

:21:00.:21:05.

game and perform is what you want. Warrington performed today, so they

:21:06.:21:09.

can go home on the bus happy, they left nothing have there on the

:21:10.:21:13.

field. They performed to near their best. But the margins were a kick, a

:21:14.:21:19.

bounce, a tackle. They were that far away from winning the game, it is

:21:20.:21:24.

frustrating for Warrington. What would you say to Ben Currie if you

:21:25.:21:30.

were his coach? Nothing, if he wants to bring up the subject, what else

:21:31.:21:37.

could he do? Unbelievable defensively. He was over the line,

:21:38.:21:42.

he thought he was on the line, the other bloke got his hand on the

:21:43.:21:46.

ball, it came loose. We had a great game, Ben Currie. He had a super

:21:47.:21:51.

game, that should not be the focus. For the first time ever at Wembley

:21:52.:21:56.

Stadium, new or old, Hull FC are going to lift the Challenge Cup,

:21:57.:22:01.

Dave Woods. They have dreamt of this, haven't

:22:02.:22:05.

they? So many generations have dreamt of this, walking up the

:22:06.:22:08.

stairs, Hull FC to lift the Challenge Cup. Gareth Ellis going up

:22:09.:22:15.

there, I am sure it is a lot easier when your side have won to climb the

:22:16.:22:22.

multitude of steps. Where am I going?! Keep going up! They wind

:22:23.:22:29.

their way one step after another, nobody at the Hull and have left.

:22:30.:22:36.

Who said they couldn't win at Wembley? Lee Radford, as he said, he

:22:37.:22:43.

was under so much pressure last year, the club kept faith with him,

:22:44.:22:48.

and that was rewarded not just with this Challenge Cup win, the

:22:49.:22:51.

Ladbrokes Challenge Cup win, but the fact that they are just minutes away

:22:52.:22:55.

from the Grand Final as well, they could do the treble this year. Here

:22:56.:23:05.

comes Gareth Ellis, the skipper. A big smile, the shake of the hands,

:23:06.:23:09.

Kevin Sinfield was in his place last year, but it is all about Gareth

:23:10.:23:13.

Ellis this year, the Black and Whites in glorious technicolour at

:23:14.:23:24.

the national stadium. He wants Danny Houghton, I think, to help them out.

:23:25.:23:28.

He is waiting for everyone else. So that they are all in this together.

:23:29.:23:33.

This is not about individual efforts, although there were some

:23:34.:23:35.

great stories in the individual efforts. It is the collective. So

:23:36.:23:43.

here he goes. They are going to have to rewrite the song, they have won

:23:44.:23:50.

at Wembley! Absolute delight, absolute joy! For

:23:51.:24:05.

Gareth Ellis and his team-mates, so many of them Hull born and bred,

:24:06.:24:10.

including who holds it a lot now, Danny Houghton. So they feel the

:24:11.:24:18.

sharpness of the delight even more, even more, because they know how

:24:19.:24:22.

that has haunted the club down the years. But not any longer. What a

:24:23.:24:26.

bunch of heroes they are. Chris Green holds it a lot, down the

:24:27.:24:43.

line it goes. They all want a touch, they'll want a kiss, they all want

:24:44.:24:46.

to be part of the celebrations. Thoroughly deserved. Hull FC are the

:24:47.:24:54.

winners, the new Wembley has had its classic final, Warrington have

:24:55.:24:56.

played their part in a game that will be long, long remembered.

:24:57.:25:25.

Jamie Peacock, you obviously work in Hull now, for the other side of

:25:26.:25:31.

Hull, but it is important for both sides of Hull, that there are so

:25:32.:25:39.

many born and bred in Hull. I am very pleased for them, me and Lee go

:25:40.:25:47.

back a long way, playing at Bradford, and he has been through

:25:48.:25:51.

difficult times. He has made difficult decisions. Listen to the

:25:52.:25:58.

reaction of the Hull fans! He made difficult decisions, and he deserves

:25:59.:26:03.

that. He has worked wonders in Hull over the last three years to get

:26:04.:26:07.

them there today. Danny Houghton with the saving tackle, Jamie Shaul

:26:08.:26:14.

with the winning try, both Hull born and bred. For those people who do

:26:15.:26:19.

not know Hull, rugby league is in the blood of everyone in the city. I

:26:20.:26:26.

am an East Hull boy, the passion of rugby league is in the city,

:26:27.:26:33.

everybody wants to be a Hull or Hull KR player. Now we are seeing them

:26:34.:26:36.

convert into champion players who win trophies, Jamie Shaul, Danny

:26:37.:26:41.

Houghton, Kirk Yeaman, what an achievement to cap that career. It

:26:42.:26:48.

is no coincidence that the sides which are winning the Super League

:26:49.:26:51.

and the Challenge Cup of a core of players who grew up in the area,

:26:52.:26:56.

because it means more to play for your hometown. Danny Houghton said

:26:57.:26:59.

that pre-match, he couldn't have said anything better about the 1%, I

:27:00.:27:05.

might just strike 1% harder than somebody who does not care about

:27:06.:27:09.

this club as much as I do. Well, wasn't that the picture we saw at

:27:10.:27:13.

the end? I find myself getting carried away with the pictures,

:27:14.:27:19.

looking at Houghton, Radford, Taylor, Washbrook, Yeaman, a

:27:20.:27:25.

wonderful experience, not just for them, but for the game as well. The

:27:26.:27:31.

effort by both sides today. When you look at the dignity of Warrington in

:27:32.:27:34.

defeat as well, the way they played their part. They played

:27:35.:27:39.

fantastically well today, great performance from them, Darrell

:27:40.:27:42.

Clark, Ben Currie, so massive performances from the Warrington

:27:43.:27:46.

side, and you feel for them. But Hull are going to celebrate. At

:27:47.:27:57.

half-time, they were going to take him out of the game, and it is so

:27:58.:28:01.

difficult to flip how you are playing, and he managed to change in

:28:02.:28:05.

the second half. We have got plenty more reaction online, more

:28:06.:28:09.

interviews, plenty more analysis as well. You will be able to watch the

:28:10.:28:15.

winning moments, particularly if you are a Hull value will be wanting to

:28:16.:28:22.

do that. It sets Hull up to win the treble, everything. , It does, and

:28:23.:28:27.

emotionally they have gone to the well in a big way, and it is

:28:28.:28:32.

interesting for rugby league fans and supporters in general - can they

:28:33.:28:36.

reenergise and get ready in the space of a week to have the same

:28:37.:28:39.

kind of form week in, week out? That is the challenge. Ryan, Jon, Jamie,

:28:40.:28:46.

thank you very much. They are about to lift the Challenge Cup in front

:28:47.:28:51.

of the sponsor's board, the confetti will go up, champagne will be

:28:52.:28:56.

popped, and the fans will not be leaving Wembley Stadium any time

:28:57.:28:59.

soon as they celebrate with the Ladbrokes Challenge Cup for the

:29:00.:29:04.

first time here at Wembley. All the reaction on the BBC Sport website,

:29:05.:29:10.

you can relive the tries. We will be back in October and November for all

:29:11.:29:15.

the international rugby coming, the four nations, Australia, New

:29:16.:29:18.

Zealand, England and Scotland. But for us, this evening, it is goodbye

:29:19.:29:26.

from us. Old blue eyes is going to players out, the Challenge Cup

:29:27.:29:28.

trophy is adorned in black and white.

:29:29.:29:35.

# I've got you # Under my skin

:29:36.:29:44.

# I've got you # Deep in the heart of me

:29:45.:29:51.

# So deep in my heart # That you are really a part of me

:29:52.:29:56.

# I've got you # Under my skin

:29:57.:30:05.

# But I've got you # Under my skin...

:30:06.:30:21.

Two class acts, they meet on the biggest stage. Sandow, rustlers over

:30:22.:30:33.

the line! # Just the thought of you makes me

:30:34.:30:41.

stop just before I begin... # To win it.

:30:42.:30:44.

# I've got you under my skin. #
