Yes, good afternoon and welcome to another results show. If this were a

movie, I would call it the Hopeful Eight because it is Scottish Cup

quarterfinal weekend. Our all-star cast features reporters across the

nation and in the studio, Brad Smith nation and in the studio, Brad Smith

-- Pat Nevin and Pat Bonner. We start with the William Hill Scottish

Cup quarterfinal. Rangers against an inform Dundee. It finished Rangers

four, Dundee zero. Mark Warburton, a study in what calm contentment can

do. His side, 4-0 winners, the goals coming from Forrester, 13 seconds

into the match. The total added to by Holt, Halliday and Wallace.

Gents, Mr Nevin first, Rangers beating Dundee, it couldn't be

classed as a surprise, but perhaps the emphatic nature of the win good.

Probably a big surprise to anybody watching up until half-time. Rangers

were great for 25 minutes, super. But Dundee for 20 minutes looked the

better team. But then they did exactly the same thing at the start

of the second half as in the first half, which is to score a very early

goal and after that Rangers just powered forward. Rangers fans

watching today, Pat Bonner they must think that they can go on and win

this competition. You've got to say, when I watched Celtic play Rangers a

couple of years ago and compared it to this team now, there is a huge

difference. They will be confident they can take on anybody at this

moment in time. They have got confidence. They know that Hibs have

blown it against them, so they are going to win the league. They can go

out today and just relax and play. The way to win, with pace, the

full-backs forward, with movement, Mackay, Holt, Milly up front. It

goes from lots of different places. That was the worry for Rangers, with

wacko one out. That question was answered emphatically. That is the

key for Rangers. The pressure was off them. When you play that type of

football with an expression and a lack of pressure, it is great to

watch. Once the pressure comes on, it is different. That will not be

there any more for Rangers. I thought they played really well

today. Dundee, 4-0, incredible. Almost time to cry havoc and let

slip our team of reporters around the country, because there are

matches the foot. We start in Dingwall and we hear from Martin

down, watching the other quarterfinal of the Scottish Cup.

Dundee against Ross County. Dundee came back into it in the second

half. Almost immediately, a red card. Graham slotted the penalty

home. United fans, singing again now. Anier arriving at the back

post. The game has exploded into life. A good performance from Nevin

-- Anier. Incredible, getting himself into the team. I am

surprised he has been in the team. But he is in the team, he has scored

two goals. I thought they were maybe gone after the second goal but --

but they fought back. That will delight them. They want that

fighting quality. It was incredible today. But the pitch was very

difficult to play on. It was a real cup tie, the wind was blowing, the

sun was out for a while, the pitch was sandy. It has the makings of a

very good cup tie up there. Before the match, Jimmy McIntyre was

saying, we have to play the percentage passes. Are they doing

that? Is that a euphemism for getting it in the box if they can?

Yes, they have. They have profited from it. That is how they got the

first goal, from the corner kick. Really, when that sending-off

happens, down to ten men, 2-1, away from home, you are thinking Dundee

United. Up until the sending-off, they were getting more and more into

the game and probably looking favourites. Once again,

well-balanced and both teams are now beginning to learn how to deal with

the conditions. You compare it to Rangers, beautiful passing play,

they are not doing it up there now, no chance. Get the ball in the box

and fight for it. Get the ball forward early and play from there.

Nothing wrong with that. We will talk about that later but let's go

to Tynecastle and into the Premiership, with third placed

Hearts are at home to Partick Thistle. Brian McLauchlin. Arnaud

Djum with a thundering header after 25 minutes. This six goal of the

season. Hearts are on course for their third league win at Tynecastle

in the last seven days, but Partick Thistle still in the game. New

Douglas Park, a Lanarkshire derby. Let's hear what is happening from

John Barnes. Motherwell haven't won at New Douglas Park since May 2009,

when Mark McGhee was in his first spell in charge of the Ferney Park

side. They are leading 1-0, scored by Louis Laing seconds before

half-time. Into the Championship, and off to the Falkirk Stadium. They

have the chance to go and off to the Falkirk Stadium. They

place if they get a point at home to Alloa. Let's hear from Richard

Wilson. No question they will move into second place. They have

controlled the game from the off. Paul Watson and Mark Kerr scoring in

the first half. It is a question of how many goals for clock can add to

seasons. They are in third, chasing second. If they win today they are

in the top six. He has achieved it, his goal. With Aberdeen in their

sights? At the start of the season, that is what they wanted. The

suggestion was a lack of personality and the style of the team. I tell

you what, they would have craved that a fuel years ago. I suspect

there is a bit of funny business. Even Lanarkshire derby, Motherwell

1-0 up. That is an important match for both teams. It goes a lot

further up the league table than both of those teams. If you get, if

you are a Motherwell fan or player and you win against Hamilton,

excludes them looking down again. If Motherwell can hold on, they are

looking up the table, even talking Motherwell can hold on, they are

about getting into the top six. Motherwell could just have a bit of

luck and they could jump up to who knows, but they have to stay away

from Kilmarnock. Any result against any team around about now is

crucial. Today's game is crucial. Falkirk are looking up against

Alloa. They will go second. For a while it was a foregone conclusion

it would be Rangers and Hibs at the top. We have been talking about how

well Falkirk have done all year and Peter Houston. They have done

exceptionally well. Hibs have dropped off. It doesn't matter too

much. I think Hibs, Falkirk, and it will be a fight as to who will get

into the other places. That game in the play-offs, that is what

eventually happens. Well done, Falkirk. We have waxed lyrical about

Hibs for a long time and Falkirk have stuck in there. Time for

mountain down -- Martin down to give us more against Ross County and

Dundee United. Ian Boyce -- Liam Boyce's 18th goal of the season

appeared to have Ross County on the way to a League Cup final, but it

isn't cruising that easy. A simple set piece from McConnell, out to

Andrew Davidson, who nodded it into the six yard boss. Boyce was

well-positioned to flick is at the home. A big travelling support in

Dingwall. A short deflection to Anier, he swatted it past Woods.

Graham was ordered -- Graham confidently slammed the penalty

home. We thought it would be another horrible afternoon for United, but

the fans are going mad, thanks to Anier's second goal of the

afternoon. He slotted the ball into the net. A right old Scottish Cup

battle on a difficult pitch and it is entertaining. Let's hear from

Brian McLauchlin who is watching the Premiership encounter involving

Hearts and Partick this. 13 minutes left at Tynecastle, a packed

attendance. They were welcomed on their feet after a boom from Djum

after 25 minutes, a thundering header by the Cameroonian. The

Partick Thistle defence just couldn't cope with Djum as he

thumped in the header. A couple of half chances, Sam Nicholson has done

well. A good save by Tomas Cerny. The substitute should have done

better when set up by Jamie Walker, but he blasted the ball high over

the crossbar. Don't rule out Partick this, they are doing well up front

but they can't find their way through a strong Hearts defence.

John Souter doing very well at the back. Just on kick-off time here, a

small aircraft overhead gave us a banner, saying, no style, Nielsen

out. Who is that coming from? Anyway, ten minutes left at

Tynecastle. We have spoken about that earlier. Let it go! Let's go to

New Douglas Park and Hamilton against Motherwell, John Barnes.

Motherwell have just been awarded a penalty. It was Chris Cadden who was

going through and Michael McGovern pulled him down just inside the edge

of the six yard box. It is a yellow card for Michael McGovern and a

chance for Motherwell to go 2-0 in front. They are leading by 1-0, the

score by Louis Laing, seconds before the interval. It was from a corner

kick. It was headed on and bounced off the shoulder of McGovern into

the path of Laing, and he blasted it home. Now Motherwell have the

opportunity, with this spot kick. It looks like Louis Moult is lining up

to take it. Before that, the referee, Kevin Clancy, is making his

way over to have a word with the fourth official about something that

may well have happened with the dugouts. Mainly, the coaches in the

dugout. The fourth official is having a word. Gavin Duncan is

talking to Kevin Clancy. It will be interesting to see what it is about,

who will he have a word with. Guess who? It is Mark McGhee, would you

believe it. He has been awarded a penalty and he is doing a bit of

pointing towards the fourth official. He is none too happy with

something. Kevin Clancy says, cut it out. Now he is going over to the

other technical area and, guess who, no, it isn't mock McGann, it is

little Danny currying. -- Danny Cunningham. Kevin Clancy is now

making his way back up towards the penalty area and making sure

everyone is outside the box. We have got nine minutes left of play at new

helpless after earlier luck. There was a lovely four-man flowing move

that began with Danny Rogers in the Falkirk goal. The ball was moved

upfield. Played infield, into the path of Kerr, and he hit the ball

from 20 yards into the top corner of the net. Falkirk have been in

complete command throughout. Alloa have been in damage limitation mode.

It would be worse if it wasn't for the goalkeeper. Falkirk are moving

up to second in the Championship. Let's take a moment to consider the

live Scottish Cup tie tomorrow. Prognostication and punditry shortly

after this programme, because you can watch Hibs Vert says desperately

against Inverness tomorrow. Rob Maclean is your host. -- you can

watch Hibs against Inverness. This is a hard one to call. Remember

this? You won't be surprised that I do remember. This is Hibs in good

form. It may well be it is the pinnacle of the season. Downhill

from there? Exactly. Against a Hearts site flying high, Hibs looked

unstoppable at that point. Indeed, what has happened since, Pat Bonner,

three league defeats on the spin, including this most recent one

midweek against Queen of the South. It is a difficult place to go, on

that pitch, away from home. It is tricky. But the game against Morton

at home, 3-0, that is the one... I think fans of Hibs will be shocked.

confidence because the results have been poor. It is that old man struck

about the performances. The argument is, that you have a bad week or

forward to. He has done so well. Now this is a time that any manager has

to really, really get his team motivated, get that confidence back,

get all of the doubt out of their brains. It starts with a win

tomorrow. It is a tough game. They have to play Inverness, the cup

holders. They got through to this round by beating Premiership

opposition against Motherwell. A cracking goal to do it. Absolutely.

An interesting game. There was a big argument as to whether the goal

should have stood, because there was an argument for a foul in the

build-up. But there was nothing wrong with the finish, a cracker. He

came on as a substitute and did well. They have had a bit of Egypt

as well. That is the big difference. With two teams in great form,

suddenly a dip. -- they have had a bit of a dip. As a goalkeeper, you

don't like to see bad backpass against Hearts in midweek. Exactly.

You know how John wants to play the game, he wants to keep possession.

The ball could have been in the stand, but the mindset was to knock

it back. It was a blind pass. Hearts, they were reading it, and it

was a goal that you wouldn't expect normally. A blind pass is never on

back to the keeper. John Hughes has said you can't treat

Hibs as that kind of side. It will be a great atmosphere.

You are making me nervous already. I think it will be a great game. I

hope that both teams play to the best of their ability. And the

pitch. If it is in good condition, that

makes a difference. And the score against Hearts, suspended? But there

is creation in various other parts of the field. They have players that

have scored goals. There is a concern. But they are good players,

they have the capability to score. We have seen them in periods, they

have looked OK. Pat, who is going through for this

one? Funnily, I think Hibs will sneak it. Funny that, I will go for

Inverness. In the interest of balance. We can

find out which of the panelists is correct tomorrow. Next week Hibs

Park, where we are watching Dundee United.

2 each in the Scottish Cup quarter-final. A fantastic tie. As

the guys rightly pointed out on a dubious pitch. Both sides coping

well. Both getting the ball. Creating chances. Coming thick and

fast. Dundee United down to ten men. The

real credit, they are fighting back. But County edging up the park.

United may be forced to sit in and see if they can hold County off, the

challenge that the side are likely to throw at them.

Over to Brian McLoughlin at Tynecastle. What is happening? Well,

it is still Hearts one, Partick Thistle nil. Hearts looking to

exploit spaces at the back. They have brought on substitutes. But no

way through for Partick Thistle and and no second goal. Three minutes

left to play. Now from John Barnes. He is at the

game, Hamilton Accies against Motherwell. Exciting the last time

we heard from you, what is happening now.

Still two minutes to play. Hamilton Accies, nil, Motherwell, one.

The Louis Moult penalty, saved by Michael McGovern after a delay while

the referee spoke to the Hamilton Accies kit manager. But the Accies

seem to have renewed having your. Looking for an equaliser. But

MacMcGee has take put on a central defender.

The ten men have clinched it. It looks like they have a ball in from

the right. Billy McKay stole in, glancing it into the back of the

net. The Dundee United fans are going crazy. It is United ahead with

a minute to go! So, we will close that one out now! Don't say that at

the moment. They are down to ten men. They were 2-1 down and down to

ten men. Watching that, it did not look as though they chucked it or

lost belief. This is Dundee United we are talking about. The Dundee

United that we were looking at lest than a month ago, looking beyond

hopeless. Boy, were they up for it. So far, they have deserved this.

As Pat said, anything can happen in football. Pat is not really

entertaining the possibility of Morton beating Celtic? It can

happen, of course but let's have a look at the current situation. It is

the championship, team, that is playing a team at the top of its

league. At home, at Celtic Park! I know what happens... This season is

not a good one for them. Against, Morton, against Hibs, 3-0,

not so long ago. Morton have lost one game away from

home in ten. So even with that, I still think that Celtic will win. I

love their manager, he is a traditional manager, the mortan

manager. He is no frills. He is well organised. He will be thinking of

what Celtic have done. Celtic have not played well. Will he be brave

enough to play with two up front or one off? You can carry on talking

about that. We have the full-time report from Richard Wilson. He was

watching Falkirk Alloa. Falkirk are above Hibs to second

place in the championship. The victory was not in doubt after the

Watson header in the first half. The Alloa goalkeeper was responsible for

keeping the numbers down, making a series of saves.

Kerr scoring before half-time. A professional display, Falkirk are up

in the championship. What an achievement.

Pat, they are going about their business unassumingly, Falkirk, no

fanfare? Exactly. The home record has been good. But they have been

playing nice football. I say that for a reason, it is sometimes hard

in the synthetics offices to do a certain type of play, they do it

well. I'm impressed They have sustained it over the last couple of

years. They have built on that. And we admire them. They deserve to

be where they are. Up, challenging for the second place.

And aloa, the part time side -- and Alloa, the part time side, it has

been a tough one for them. It is tough. He is a young manager.

He is to learn. The first job you get, you hope it is not the last.

50% of the first time managers in England never get a job again.

That should not happen. I hope that they stay with them, if

they go down. Are they a League One club? It was

Paul Hartley that brought them up. A good base in there, if police move

on to higher clubs, they will do. And I have to squeeze in this one,

surely the first time a kit man has been sent off the kit man at

Hamilton Accies, sent to the stand. They do a good job! Who was it that

took a penalty? Hoult moult? He did his job! And the goalkeepers were

always like that, you goal keepers... Full-time at Dingwall.

Back to hear from Martin. A big win there for Dundee United? What a

game. Ross County two, Dundee United, three.

They came from 2-1 down. Boyce put County ahead. They did not take

advantage of a glorious chance. There was a deflection to equalise,

and then a player ordered off, Brian Graham was caught in the box.

Slammed a spot kick home. But a ball into the box found its way to the

back post. A brilliant afternoon for them by slotting it home.

It got better for them after that. In the closing stages, it was

frenetic. Both sides going for it. Amazingly United won it. McKay stole

into the box, he could not have missed it with the header. They are

celebrating like they haven't for a long, long time. What a boost for

this club. The manner in which they achieved it will go with them for a

long way. And let's find out who is celebrating at New Douglas Park. Not

John Barnes, the voice of objectivity itself.

And the branding rights to Motherwell. Hamilton Accies, nil,

Motherwell one, it was Laing's goal. The man signed from Nottingham

Forest who thought about quitting the game earlier as he was out of

the picture to Motherwell. Well, he secured the win.

It came in the 45th minute. A corner swung into the back post. Moult

moult with the header. It swung to the path of Laing, he blasted it in.

Before that, the Accies House of Representatives the post. And

Johnson also hit the left-hand post of the goalkeeper. In the second

half, the controversy, nine minutes from the end, Hoult Hoult with a

penalty after McGovern pulled down a player in the area. But then making

amends by denying moult moult the spot kick.

-- Moult. A week here at Tynecastle, rounding

off a perfect seven days for Robbie Neilson's side. A stunning header

There was a close second for the homeside. It was blasted over when

it should have found the target. There was a plane that flew over the

ground saying Neilson out, that is well gone.

And now to hear from Conni McLoughlin.

Braise yourself. Raith Rovers, four, St Mirren, three. A deserved win for

the homeside. A hat-trick for Hardie. He opened the scoring after

three minutes. The ball played through the mid. Hardie picked it

up, the St Mirren defence sleeping. Mark Stuart doubled the lead.

Connolly had the shot blocked but Stuart picked it up to power it into

the back of the net. Before the half-time, the Saints had given

themselves a life line with a corner from Watson. And then a ball on the

edge of the box by Clarkson. Then hardie got a hat-trick, he

managed to pull the ball from a tight angle over Jamie Langfield.

Clarkson pulled the other one back. Watson got the nerves jangling by

giving them a third. A seven-goal thriller but the points staying in

Kirkcaldy. Let's find out what happened in

Livingston against Dumbarton. Let's find out what happened in

Charlie Mann. Not as much drama here. Not the greatest game, but it

was very important for Livingston, because it is a big victory, a sixth

league win of the season for them, and it moves them a little bit

closer to Dumbarton and maybe just out of the play-off position,

because they are desperate to stay in the Championship. Far from a

great game, the goal is typical of that. 29 minutes, Liam Buchanan's

11th of the season but Livingston in front. In Livingston. A mess in the

Dumbarton defence. Second half, much of the same. Jordan White at 84

minutes sealed up the points. He got it under control eventually and just

rolled it into the back of the net underneath the goalkeeper. As I say,

not the best game you will ever see, but an important win for Livingston

all the same. Important for Livingston, huge for Dundee United.

It's incredible. We have watched the whole game here. Two weeks in a row,

they have scored three at Victoria Park. They're fighting quality was

magnificent. Down to ten men... This has all happened since the chairman

lambasted them. John Rankin came out. I accepted from the player, not

really from the chairman. Whether it has had the desired effect... I am

OK with the chairman saying it. I wouldn't have done that, but it is

the nuclear option. If you have done everything, try the weirdest thing.

And it was the strangest thing. I think it is more got to do with the

manager, let's be fair. Of course, but I like the likes of John Rankin

saying, come on, we need to put that effort in. When it comes to a player

of that experience in the dressing room, I am glad the players have

stepped up. The first goal was a bad one that they lost, it wasn't great,

and you would expect them to drop off, as we have seen in the past.

Today, they responded when the sending off and. Two comeback in

that game in cup, fantastic. You can gather your thoughts in a second --

for a second while I run through the classified results.

Hibernian against Inverness cambered -- Inverness

Hearts winning at home against Partick Thistle takes them to within

six points of second placed Aberdeen. Motherwell's win over

Hamilton lifts them to the cusp of the top six.

I tantalised you with a mention of the London derby today, Tottenham

against Arsenal in the Premier League down south. Let's get more

details from Guy Mowbray. A north London derby with everything except

a winner, and it exploded after half-time. Arsenal were 1-0 up by

them, Aaron Ramsey back feeling in. But their world fell apart when

Francis Coquelin was rightly sent off for a second yellow card ten

minutes into the second half. Five minutes later, Toby Alderweireld

fired home. Two minutes later, thinking -- a magnificent strike

fired home. Two minutes later, from Harry Kane put them in front.

Spurs should have won it, but the Gunners showed the heart and desire

which has been questioned recently by coming back to equalise through

Alexis Sanchez, another fine finish. Tottenham Hotspur 2, Arsenal 2. Four

goal is to separate Man City and Aston Villa. - gas skill can tell us

about it. A miserable defeat for Villa. A routine one for Manchester

City. It took 48 minutes for the floodgates to swing open. It only

took another 21 minutes for City to wrap up four. Kolo Toure, Aguero and

Stirling shattering Villa's confidence and defence. Manuel

Pellegrini said that City need to win nine of their remaining games to

win the title. The first one has been ticked off without breaking

sweat. Everton were at home against West Ham. Damien Johnson. Terrific,

incident packed advert for the Premier League. Everton raced into a

2-goal lead, despite having Kevin Mirallas sent off. Two foolish

yellow cards. It could have been 3-0 if there wasn't a penalty saved.

That signalled a dramatic turnaround. Michail Antonio and

Diafra Sakho brought the Hammers level with headers. There were

strong appeals for penalties at both ends, but Payette popped up to win

it for West Ham and keep them on track for the Champions League.

Let's find out more on Chelsea against Stoke City. Chelsea's

unbeaten run continues, but you would think Guus Hiddink will be

frustrated. Stoke got the point they probably deserved due to a late

header. Chelsea rested Diego Costa ahead of Wednesday's Champions

League gate. Bertrand Traore was asked to leave the line and what a

goal he scored, a sizzling left foot which was still rising as it was

slammed into the net. A clutch of fine saves. Both teams remain on the

fringe of Europe, perhaps. An intriguing match at Saint Mary 's,

where Sunderland are on course for three points until a late Virgil van

Dijk goal for Southampton cost them all three points. Second away until,

Dijk goal for Southampton cost them as you say, that outstanding strike

by Virgil van Dijk. Until then, the heroes were Jermain Defoe, coming

off the bench, and Sunderland goalkeeper Vito Mannone. Outstanding

saves throughout the match to keep his team in it. Irony of ironies,

Sunderland have just gone five at the back. John O'Shea came on, find

at the back, defending, but they were beaten by a defender. Norwich

are certainly right in the middle of the relegation battle. They were

away at Swansea. Mark Webber is there. Swansea 1, Norwich zero. At

the other side, they flocked from the east. After today, they will be

looking at directions to Leeds and Cardiff in the Championship. Norwich

fought for every ball. In the 61st minute, Swansea's Mr reliable

Sigurdsson found his shooting boots. That was the goal which clipped the

Canaries' wins. Redmond had a chance to equalise and he fluffed it.

Typical of their lack of prowess in front of goal. As a result it

finished with a win for Swansea. Wood the final match report from the

Premiership comes from Newcastle against Bournemouth.

Newcastle united 1, Bournemouth 3, and Bournemouth deserved it.

Newcastle were not good enough, going behind to a Taylor own goal.

Joshua King, he doubled the lead in the second. Pera Gutierrez gave

Newcastle a goal, but Daniels took them forward. There are 11 points

clear of the relegation zone, a huge step towards survival. As the band

-- as the fans continued to boom and applaud, mixed feelings at St James'

Park. They feel the players put the effort him but they are not happy

down to ten men, the fighting spirit, being a man down, was

fantastic. They never die attitude, tremendous. Even though we were a

man short, we wanted to have an attacking threat. We went with 3-3-

Prior to that, we had equalised. I felt we were well in the game. I

thought we were by far the better team. When we had all the men on the
