Hello, good evening, and welcome to Sportscene.

Distant memories. Recent memories. Seizing the moment. Carved out on

the famous old trophy. Tomorrow, clubs who only lifted the cup in

black and white against more colourful recent winners. Celtic are

the William Hill Scottish Cup winners for 2013. This is history.

the William Hill Scottish Cup Today, a throwback, two finals from

this millennium. He scores. The 2003 Hampden Park showpiece. And the

chance to avenge 2010. David Goodwillie. Magic. Recent memories,

distant memories, making memories. It has been a day to remember in the

William Hill Scottish Cup. Over the next 50 minutes we will bring you

highlights from both of today's quarterfinal matches. A memorable

day calls for memorable guest. They are Michael Stewart and Pat Nevin.

We start with a repeat of the 2010 Scottish Cup final. Ross County had

never beaten Dundee United in this competition, United bottom of the

Premiership, what they did beat Ross County in the league last weekend.

In Dingwall for us was Liam McLeod. Dundee United stepping out for what

is their 14th cup quarterfinal in succession. The twice winners are

aiming to put their Premiership trials and tribulations to one side

against the team they beat to win the second of those Scottish cups

and 2010. Lots have changed since that day. Then a first division

side, Ross County our eight places better off than they are more

illustrious opponents. They are aiming to reach their second

semifinal of the season. Jim McIntyre brings top scorers Liam

Boyce and Brian Graham back into his side. The latter featured in a

substitute -- as a substitute in the 2014 final.

The normal Dundee United goalkeeper is injured, so Luis Zwich start

single for the first time since the defeat by Celtic on it over. Ryan

Dow comes into the team. Sean Dillon, the club captain, plays. It

is also the first art of the season for Henri Anier. Jim McIntyre

resolve smiles. No wonder, a quarterfinal at home, and the League

Cup final against Hibernian next Sunday. The referee is Craig

Thomson. He has handled the final of this competition on three separate

occasions. The fourth Scottish Cup meeting between the two, the 2010

final clash was a day for Dundee United in the sun. Can Ross County

beat them for the first time? He is confident they can beat the drop and

confident they can go further in this tournament. The ball by Paul

Dixon. Richard Foster did know much Dixon. Richard Foster did know much

-- did not know much about that. That is a great touch by Liam Boyce.

Paul Paton is floundering in his wake. Liam Boyce cannot turn it home

after Luis Zwich saves. This is great payback -- great play by Liam

Boyce. Dundee United did not deal with it at all. It was a lovely ball

by Irvine. Luis Zwich saved with his feet. It could have gone a where. He

was inviting the predatory Liam Boyce to shoot from six yards. Paul

Paton Bidwell as well. It is the closest we have come to a goal in

the cup tie. Inside to Woods. He scored the first in the League Cup

victory against Celtic. Irvine stabs it forward and gets it back

immediately. This is a good spell. A good spell for County. Knocking the

ball about well in the final third. The snapshot from Irvine. Graham

digging it out, looking for Jonathan Franks. Mark Durnan Alex Tettey and

seedy corner. -- Mark Durnan concedes the corner. Davies. Flicked

home by Liam Boyce. He ends a goal drought and puts Ross County in the

driving seat in this last eight tie. He had not scored in eight, and that

is 18 for the season. Simplicity itself. One corner, two headers, and

in the blink of an eye, it is 1-0 to Ross County. This is Richard Foster.

Liam Boyce, great dummy. I showed for handball, but the referee

disagrees. -- the claim for handball. He was onside. That could

be a big let off for Dundee United. I think Liam Boyce knows that. There

was no flag against the Northern Irishman. A great chance for a Liam

Boyce to make it two. He has had a good few opportunities, that is

first. United had taken things up at the back in away matches in

particular. That goal from Liam Boyce in the first half was the

first that United have conceded since the match at Dens Park in

January. Irvine, looking for Graham. It is only half cleared. What an

effort from Irvine. He thought he had scored. This is a cracking hit

from Jackson Irvine. Controlled, powerful. Luis Zwich was rooted to

the spot. It was the wrong side of the post.

This is Ryan Dow, coming more and more into this game. You sense there

is a goal and as for Dundee United. There were three of them last week.

It was not the best ball from Blair Spittal. Michael Gardyne giving it

away. Mark Durnan. What is he going to do? Henri Anier. It is 1-1. Henri

Anier scores for Dundee United for the first time in the campaign. It

has drawn the Tangerines level in the Highlands. The Estonian pounces.

Just when Dundee United needed a hero.

Henri Anier has been booked for his celebrations. He well might be

bothered about that now. Good play by Mark Durnan. It looked like it

had gotten away from him. He was going for a goal himself. He did

enough. The ricochet favours United. They have not had much luck this

season. Henri Anier was there to gobble it up in his first start of

the season. Mark Durnan, he switched off. He has brought Brian Graham

down. That will be a penalty, and surely a red card for Mark Durnan.

It has got to be a red card. It is a red card. What was he thinking?

Dundee United had just hauled themselves back into this cup tie,

and for a split-second Mark Durnan switched off. He got himself in all

of trouble. He holds Brian Graham to the ground. He has presented Ross

County with an immediate chance to the ground. He has presented Ross

restore their lead. Brian Graham, against his old club. He has the

chance to restore the county lead. They are playing the ten men. It is

Brian Graham, it is 2-1. Quake as a flash, this game turns again. It is

nine for the season for the big striker. Luis Zwich went the right

way. Brian Graham managed to squeeze it home. He will be devastated,

without a doubt. Henri Anier, who briefly had belief coursing through

United veins. It is still alive for them. John Rankin floats attend. It

is Henri Anier again, stunning. What a stunning 510 minutes we have had

in Dingwall. Henri Anier with the double. This is a brilliant finish

in Dingwall. Henri Anier with the from Henri Anier. As cool as you

like. It flicked off the head of Andrew Davies, which allowed it to

foul for Henri Anier. That is a lovely finish. -- to fall. Good

footwork from Blair Spittal. He has been a shining light for Dundee this

season. It has been a dark tunnel for United, most of it. That was a

heavy touch from Alex Schalk. Dillon does what he has to do, and that is

tackle Alex Schalk and win the ball back for United, just as it looked

like he was going to slice open the United rearguard. Henri Anier, going

from one end to the other. He has polluted back. -- pulled it back.

Ryan Dow is having a go at the rectory because he has had to

deviate from his run because of the position of the referee. -- having a

go at the referee. You wonder if the referee had not been there, would

Ryan Dow have got their ahead of Irvine. This is Irvine. You would

not predict who would win this, if there is to be a winner today.

Michael Gardyne. That is unlucky. That has taken a touch.

United would have held their breath as Gardyne got it on to his left

foot. There is still time to find a winner

for both. Michael Gardyne. Good play, swept in. That is a big

chance. Raffaele De Vita at the back post. If United went on to win this

match today, and go through to the semifinals, what character it will

have shown, what confidence it will give them for the matches that lie

ahead. There are loads of big games coming up for them. This is Ryan

Dow. He goes to Blair Spittal. In it comes for Mckay. Unbelievable. Mixu

Paatelainen punches the air with delight. Well he might. The ten men

of Dundee United have just gone in front for the first time today. It

will surely seal their passage to the last four. A beautiful ball by

Spithill. -- Blair Spittal. Billy Mckay does not miss from there. This

coming in the last minute of normal time. What an afternoon for Mixu

Paatelainen. It is not overreact. That is Liam Boyce. Liam Boyce

thought he had salvaged a replay. It was a nice header by Alex Schalk.

The outside of the boot, and it goes wide. Craig Thomson's whistle

signals that Dundee United into the semifinals of the William Hill

Scottish Cup. A quite astonishing second half. Twice county lead

through Liam Boyce and a Brian Graham penalty after Mark Durnan was

sent off. Henri Anier levelled the tie twice before Billy Mckay's

header from inside the six yard box in the final minute of the night

they had sent county, the League Cup finalists, spinning out of the

Scottish Cup in Dingwall. In the Highlands, after an incredible and

pulse baiting -- pulsating Scottish Cup final, 3-2.

Obviously, I did not realise how late it was in the game when I

scored. I managed to find myself a bit of space in the box and got on

the end of it. He liked it to get the win. The way the game had gone,

going down to ten men, being behind, we showed great character. It is a

golden opportunity to get to another national semifinal. Frankly, we did

not stop the crosses for the three goals. It is not good enough. We

have got to get out, get close. United were down to ten men and we

seemed to stand off them and allow courses to come into the box. We

have got to be much better than that. It was a real sore one to

take. What an interesting season Dundee United are having. After the

final whistle, I spoke to Mixu Paatelainen. Thank you very much for

joining us. Huge congratulations on your victory today - you must be

thrilled with the character shown by your players? Absolutely. The boys

were fantastic. To be fair, in the last few weeks, we have shown a

great woman never say die attitude. And that is what we had today. -- a

great, never say die attitude. It makes the journey back down a lot

easier. It look like the sending-off of Mark Durnan might be a turning

point in this match - did you have any complaints about the decision?

No, I thought it was a red card. I thought it was a penalty. The

referee was bang on. Obviously, we should have cleared that situation

much earlier, but we didn't. But prior to that, the way we played, I

felt we were the better team in the first half and the early part of the

second half. We got back into the game and then the incident happened,

2-1 down. We felt that because of the way we played, we wanted to keep

some parts of our tactics going, instead of just defend. And we got

the reward. The boys were full of running and effort to get forward.

We look at dangerous, even with the man down. I can only thank the

players for the shift and the effort they put in. It was a thrilling

match to watch, especially in the second half. Billy Mckay I got the

eventual winner, but what a time for Henri Anier to step up with a goal?

Yes, obviously, he has had difficult times. He was on loan at Hibs, came

back, has not played too much. This times. He was on loan at Hibs, came

was his first start this season for us. And what a full debut this

season for him. Fantastic full stop but to be fair to him, he works

very, very hard on the training ground. He is a powerful player with

good ability, so we felt that against the strong centre halves

that Ross County have, he might worry them. And he did. Excellent

effort from him. It is back to the small matter of staying in the

Premiership on Friday against Motherwell of course. But the way

things are going, it is a roller-coaster, but if you stay in

the Premiership, win the Scottish Cup, suddenly you are manager of the

year? Let's not get carried away! But we will enjoy this victory. It

makes the journey back down easier. Next Friday, Motherwell. I believe

they shattered today so they are on form again. They beat us a couple of

weeks ago. Who knows? With the spirit we saw today, anything can

happen. Huge congratulations. spirit we saw today, anything can

Paatelainen, a very happy man tonight. Pat, that red card looked

like it might be a turning point in this match for Dundee United, we

thought? We certainly did. But Mixu has made some good decisions

recently. This was a blue was the best one he has made for quite some

time! We will look at the penalty first and just pause it here.

Durnan, he is 100% favourite to win that ball. But he kind of stops, and

I don't know why. I don't think that ball. But he kind of stops, and

anybody will understand, apart from Durnan, why he does it. Really he

has been involved in a challenge here before with Graham. It is not

as if he does not know he is on his shoulder. The 'keeper is far too far

back. He has got to know that Graham is there, and he has got to make

sure that he gets his body in front. But he doesn't. There is no big

argument. He takes his time, things about it, but there is no argument

really. The only person who does not think it is a penalty is Durnan. It

is only a slight pull, but it is a pull. You're just getting back into

the game, and suddenly, you have a nightmare - what do you do? And he

goes ultra positive? Normally you would go 4-4- one. Or 4-3- two. But

he was extremely positive. I think the team were probably playing 343

before that. By all accounts, yet they have played three at the back

for a while, so this will have fitted their shape. When you win the

ball and get yourself in good positions, you have got more players

up the park. If we pause it here, you have got your midfield free

here. So you have got three going forward. As we go forward, you find

you have actually got another three at the back. So you are actually

outnumbering the opposition even though you are down to ten men.

You're putting them under great pressure. It is fine, you are too-

one down, you can throw caution to the wind. Maybe it is not that

brave. Because you have to get into the game and it is a cup tie. Of

course it is a bit risky as well. 2-2 away from home, with ten men,

you're thinking you might just take that? This is the most impressive

thing, he carries on! He thinks, I am going to try and win this game.

The drag back is fantastic. But the amount of players who wants to get

forward here... If we just have a look, there is a whole bunch of

players forward again. Three here, and there you have got your other

three. The one which is most impressive is him. Even though it is

the last minute, away from home, down to ten men, he wants to get in

there and try and win the game. It is an attitude which Mixu has built

recently. Of course it is. Also, Ross County have got to do better

defensively. You can see how disappointed Quinn was. He is going

absolutely nuts. Ross County have got so many back, they have got to

defend that better. It is a fantastic win, but you can do it

once or twice. But doing it at the right time and having the convention

to stick with it, that is what impressed me most. -- the

conviction. Next weekend is absolutely massive for Ross County

as well. They are in the League Cup Final against Hibernian and you can

watch all the action on Sportscene live from Hampden on Sunday. Back to

the Scottish Cup. The first of the quarter finals this weekend was at

Ibrox. It was Rangers up against Dundee. Wood comes from Paul

Mitchell. -- commentary comes. It may now make the Scottish Cup

less of a distraction for the Ibrox club. It is back-to-back away ties

for Dundee. They travelled to Dumbarton in the last 16 Lawro they

needed a replay to earn this away day in Glasgow. Billy King and

Michael O'Halloran are cup-tied. Rikki Clarke finds a place on the

bench. Dundee took a point from the trip to Celtic in midweek. Paul

Hartley sends out a more familiar starting XI, with the return of five

players. Those include captain Gary Harkins. The first ever managerial

meeting of Paul Hartley and Mark Warburton. Our referee is Alan Bure.

He last took charge of Dundee in the last defeat, against Aberdeen. --

Alan Muir. Rangers immediately in possession. And quickly moving

forward... Forrester! 14 seconds gone and Harry Forrester blasts

Rangers ahead! What just owning start! -- what a stunning start!

Rangers showed their intent from the off. Simple pass by Ball. Miller

came short. Dawdling on the ball was Kevin Holt. And Harry Forrester

fired it past Scott Bain. Such a narrow angle. He scores for Rangers

in his third consecutive match. What a start. McGinn doing enough against

Mckay. That is a brilliant ball inside. Rangers looking for a

second. Scott Bain making the stop. Forrester turned supplier that time.

Forrester will get it back. It could be in! It has gone wide! McGinn was

shouting. Communication breakdown. Just coming back off Paul McGinn.

In two Erskine. That is a lovely first touch. Harkins with the shot!

Well, Dundee can create very quickly. It is the trio of Hemmings,

Stewart and Harkins. It just came off the heel.

Barrie McKay pounces on the loose ball. Kenny Miller is wide. Kenny

Miller! Sliding in was Darren O'Dea. Darren O'Dea, showing his

experience. He look outside him and saw where the danger was.

Forrester handmade the run down the right, but it comes back inside to

iron. A little dummy by Holt. Jason Holder, taken out. Holt got the

touch. Tavernier. And a one-handed save. The goalkeeper in good

position. Greg Stewart, with McGinn outside

him. Foderingham did well. Holt kept it in.

The run from Tavernier! And the sliding challenge came in from

McGowan. Back to McGowan. Hemmings will break

for it. Corner. Into stoppage time in the first

half. Greg Stewart with the corner. That is lofty. Kane Hemmings could

not get a touch on that, and it went straight to the arms of the

goalkeeper. If he had got the glancing header, it would have been

goalkeeper. If he had got the worked on the line for the

goalkeeper. Kenny Miller, he cannot get away from McGinn. The referee

glances at his watch. Into the sunshine. Stewart, with Tavernier.

It is still Gary Harkins. The ball out wide to Nick Ross. Three in the

box for Dundee. Block by Tavernier, and that will be half-time. Rangers'

100th goal of the season came from Harry Forrester. Silly in three

games for the Englishman. An electric start from Rangers. At

half-time, it is 1-0. Dundee get the second half of this Scottish Cup

quarterfinal under way. They found themselves behind after just 14

seconds, but they conceded no further goals. The message from Paul

Hartley will be to forget about the first half and go out there and play

as you can. Being at Ibrox seems like a disadvantage to Dundee, but

they have won on three of the last six Scottish Cup trips to Ibrox.

There have only won once in 11 at Dens Park. It is picked up by every

life. Inside, with Kane Hemmings. No changes at half-time.

Forrester, the goal-scorer, trying to link with Kenny Miller. Chased by

Kevin Holt. McKay pops up on the right side, and usually. That is a

great ball, the lay-off Kenny Miller. Jason Holt completes the

second goal for Rangers. The stun them in the first half. It has taken

longer in the second, but Rangers with a crucial second goal. Harry

Forrester from Tavernier. It is a wonderful cross ball. Barrie McKay

saw the run of Kenny Miller and chested down. It is a good header

from Jason Holt. He scores in the Scottish Cup for Rangers for the

first time. Dundee in real trouble. Wonderful play. Rangers are 2-0

ahead. The right place at the right time for the former Hearts man.

Scott Bain was left with no chance. Dundee need something soon. Greg

Stewart with the cutback. Tavernier lays it into the path of Robert

Kiernan. Left or right, it does not matter for Barrie McKay today, great

wing play. He cuts inside. He is away from O'Dea. Kenny Miller takes

over. Kenny Miller is knocked to the ground out of sheer frustration.

That is a sore one. The apology comes from Nick Ross. The referee

almost getting in the way. It is going to be Halliday. It is going to

be a third goal. His first goal in the Scottish Cup for seven years for

Andrew Halliday. It is good night, Dundee. Rangers are three ahead, 54

minutes played, and the side at the top of the Championship are running

roughshod over the side that are fifth in the Premiership. Bain got a

roughshod over the side that are hand to it, but could not keep it

out. The wall did not do its job, and Rangers can almost taste the

semifinal. Kenny Miller, brilliant, to Lee

Wallace. Scott Bain to the rescue. The last time Scott Bain played

against Rangers in a Scottish Cup tie, he conceded seven as the Alloa

Athletic goalkeeper. That is a good angle ball to Paul McGowan, but they

cannot finish. Rangers have just enough. This is Kerr. Kerr clipped

the ball inside. He will get the free kick. He said it was his

shoulder. It is where you put your shoulder sometimes that is the

problem. It just got tangled that the feed of Paul McGowan. 15 minutes

to play. Can Dundee look for any sort of Lifeline? Gary Harkins. That

sums up the day for Dundee. That did not work from Paul McGowan.

Kenny Miller on the inside. He has gone himself, Lee Wallace. A

wonderful goal from the Rangers skipper. Rangers four, Dundee zero.

A Scottish Cup semifinal place for Rangers. Lee Wallace, the captain,

with a wonderful solo goal. He scored against Cowdenbeath and that

was a good one, but this is much better. Away from Paul McGowan and

inside O'Dea. Scott Bain with no chance with the finish. Some great

team goals and individual goals. Individual style from Lee Wallace. A

player so full of confidence and the nonchalant finish.

It is all over at Ibrox. Success for Mark Warburton. Harry Forrester put

Rangers ahead after 14 seconds. They did not add to the goal tally in the

first half. They blew Dundee away with two quick second-half goals.

Lee Wallace's goal-scoring cameo completed the scoring. Foreign Burke

-- for Dundee, it is the fourth quarterfinal loss in the last ten

years. Rangers are in the semifinals of the Scottish Cup. Lee Wallace

will lead his side into the last four. On the day, they certainly

deserve to be there. 4-0 at Ibrox. Jude to an ongoing situation between

BBC Scotland and Rangers, we do not have any interviews from Ibrox

today. We were all expecting a tight game between Dundee and Rangers but

it did not transpire. It was a great performance from Rangers. You are

right, there was lots of discussion about how Rangers would feel against

Premiership opposition. They blew them away, right from the start,

getting the goals are warily. It's solidified their dominance

throughout the game, the scored at vital times, and by the end, they

were very much worthy winners. 14 seconds, that is how long it took

for the first goal. So disappointing for Paul Hartley, but what a start

for Harry Forrester. It is a dream start in a cup game, getting the

crowd behind you. It is about putting the other team on the back

foot. This tackle, the manager is saying, press them high early in the

game. That is more than you would expect. The first time tackle. It

led to a better game of football. It became incredibly open. There was no

point in Dundee sitting back. It became an open game. Five minutes

later, Rangers could have been three up. Plenty happening from the start.

Not the fastest goal in Scottish Cup history. This is the televisual

evidence we have of the fastest goal that we can see. It was John Hewitt,

back in 1982, Aberdeen against Motherwell, 9.6 seconds. Not the

best defending. Any time you get a start like that, it can change the

mindset of every player and the start like that, it can change the

manager and the tactics. What a generally leads to is a good game.

Let's look at the Harry Forrester more detail. A great start for

Rangers, but Dundee will be disappointed. Of course. The manager

will be tearing his hair out. Pat is right. Harry Forrester is pressing

and that the intent Rangers had. The graphic shows the defenders. They

need to offer more cover for each other. It happened so quickly, they

did not get a chance. Darren O'Dea does well. The goalkeeper has to

make sure that the front post is covered. Every time Darren O'Dea is

showing the attacker to the side, the goalkeeper has got to cover the

post. Maybe he could have been cover better. Perhaps he should have

engaged higher up. It is ten seconds into the game. You are not into the

rhythm, so mistakes like that or understandable. Unfortunately for

Dundee, there were other mistakes during the game. Rangers were

superb. Michael made an important during the game. Rangers were

point, scoring goals at the right moment. It looks like a hammering,

4-0, but in reality, 425 minutes Rangers were brilliant, but Dundee

were the side for put. The second half was the same as the first half.

They started well. This must be frustrating for Paul Hartley. It is

a fantastic move from Rangers. There are 12 passes to get to the final

move. If you get yourself in space in the box, he is shouting for it.

If you have got space, you have to make a good first touch. How good is

that touch? That is a tremendous goal. All the way from their own six

yard line. It is one of the best team goals I have seen this season.

You take nothing away from that. Then you can relax and enjoy. Your

role-playing and wanting to score. They took over. The Andy Halliday

goal, in the 54th minute, it was at a great time for Rangers. Yes, round

about the one-hour mark. Bain will be disappointed. You can see the

runner over, and it makes my -- Bain take a step to his left. The

goalkeeper has got to cover the goal. If the Verney puts it over the

wall, the goalkeeper can do nothing about it. If the goalkeeper had

stayed in his position, he would have stopped that. -- if Tavernier.

Lee Wallace with a great goal. Yes, we have spoken about this before,

the overlap. He is like a train. That is unstoppable. The cause he is

going so quickly, there is nothing they can do. He has power, he is

very direct. This is interesting. He they can do. He has power, he is

gets his head down and goes towards the defenders. They cannot engage in

before the box they cannot tackle him. If they miss him and tackle, it

is a penalty kick and they will be sent off. We spoke about him last

time. Is there a possibility he will get dragged into the Scotland squad

again? He is doing it all the time. Remember the criticism that Rangers

got after the St Johnstone game at Ibrox, seeing how far behind they

were. This is a good Dundee team who have not giving away goals and they

have been playing well. The scored four. Congratulations to Rangers and

Gray quarterfinals tomorrow as well. Gray quarterfinals tomorrow as well.

toiling, there is pressure on Ronny Deila - how much of a banana skin is

that? When your confidence is low, it is a huge banana skin. They will

have to make sure they get a good result. If the unthinkable was to

happen and they were to lose at Celtic Park, then I think the

pressure could almost be too much to take full Ronny Deila and his

position would be almost untenable. Looking at the other match, Hibs -

Inverness, how do you see it going? Just on Celtic, the fact that they

are four points clear in the league, it could only happen in Scotland!

Yes, Hibs- Inverness, everybody has been saying it is the hardest one to

call. Both teams have been having a little bit of a dip in form. I think

it is a bit more than that for Hibs. I have kind of crashed. They have

had a huge long period, and then three defeats in eight days. They

have to get it in their mind that they can get back from that. Today,

in the Premiership, there were two big matches. Hamilton Academical

lost to Motherwell. Hearts beat Partick Thistle at Tynecastle. It

leaves the Premiership table looking like this... In the Championship it

was also a busy day. Falkirk beat Alloa Athletic 2-0. Living stone

beat Dumbarton... It means that Falkirk have taken advantage of

Rangers and Hibs playing in the cup and they are now in second place.

Pat, I have to ask you, in terms of Hibs, it is a strange set of

priorities at the moment, with the League Cup Final next weekend and

this battle in the Championship. If you ask Alan Stubbs, he will say,

every game as it comes. Yes, they would love to win the Scottish Cup

but they are in a final, and that would probably be the priority. But
