Seriously damaging to the island's so it's goodbye from me and, | :00:00. | :00:10.
Seriously damaging to the island's economy. Reeling Claims Jersey is | :00:11. | :00:14.
losing out on business because internet connections are too | :00:15. | :00:22.
expensive. If we are trying to compete globally and | :00:23. | :00:25.
internationally, we have to get those costs in line and have to be | :00:26. | :00:28.
competitive. A warning from the horse racing | :00:29. | :00:31.
industry ` concerns the sport could suffer due to a lack of local | :00:32. | :00:34.
trainers. And move over Big Brother... Hello Puffin Cam. The | :00:35. | :00:37.
hidden cameras giving us an insight into the world of the Channel | :00:38. | :00:39.
Islands' largest puffin colony. Jersey's ability to attract new | :00:40. | :00:54.
business is being seriously hampered by the cost and the length of time | :00:55. | :00:58.
it's taking to roll out fast internet connections. That's the | :00:59. | :01:03.
claim of Digital Jersey ` the body set up to promote digital growth in | :01:04. | :01:06.
the island. It says it costs three times as much in Jersey to have a | :01:07. | :01:10.
fast internet connection as places like Luxembourg, and its 'seriously | :01:11. | :01:13.
damaging' the island's economy. Jen Smith has more. | :01:14. | :01:17.
Jersey's States want to see the digital sector become a major | :01:18. | :01:21.
industry for the island. It set up Digital Jersey, an independent body | :01:22. | :01:26.
to encourage new business. Its aim, to create more than 2000 extra jobs | :01:27. | :01:31.
in the industry by 2020. But Digital Jersey says without a fast internet | :01:32. | :01:39.
connection growth will be hampered. I think it is serious to the | :01:40. | :01:43.
economy, not just in the digital sector, but across many sectors, and | :01:44. | :01:48.
for the area I am responsible for, growing the sector, as Jersey tries | :01:49. | :01:53.
to diversify its economy, which is one of the main strategy is the | :01:54. | :01:57.
government has. We need to get this, the issues addressed, so we | :01:58. | :02:06.
can attract companies. And it's not just the digital and technology | :02:07. | :02:09.
sector being harmed by the slow roll out of services. Digital Jersey say | :02:10. | :02:12.
it's damaging the economy in general. The company that provides | :02:13. | :02:15.
most of Jersey's digital services is JT. I don't accept any criticism | :02:16. | :02:23.
over speed. I think it is there and is being rolled out. I think in | :02:24. | :02:29.
terms of price, costs have been coming down rapidly. Volumes have | :02:30. | :02:33.
doubled. We see that trend continuing. Part of the problem is | :02:34. | :02:38.
the cost. This report claims a fast internet connection here costs up to | :02:39. | :02:42.
three times as much as competitive jurisdictions like Luxembourg. And | :02:43. | :02:48.
that's damaging. For getting data off the islands, which is | :02:49. | :02:54.
important, as an island nation. We might be five times or ten times | :02:55. | :02:59.
more expensive than other locations. The regulator that reviews prices in | :03:00. | :03:03.
the Channel Islands has told the BBC it's reviewing the cost of | :03:04. | :03:06.
connecting the island. Meanwhile, there's a warning from | :03:07. | :03:08.
another Island industry tonight ` this time horse racing. People | :03:09. | :03:12.
within the sport are concerned that problems recruiting an experienced | :03:13. | :03:15.
trainer may undermine the industry long term. The specialist knowledge | :03:16. | :03:19.
and experience needed to manage a yard full time can't be found | :03:20. | :03:22.
locally, and attempts to appoint someone from the UK have been | :03:23. | :03:26.
hampered by the need for a trading licence. Julie Flanagan reports. | :03:27. | :03:34.
Karl Kukk worked in Jersey as a jockey last year and has more than | :03:35. | :03:37.
30 years experience worldwide in horse racing. But without a trading | :03:38. | :03:42.
licence he can't run a yard in Jersey, and that's bad news for the | :03:43. | :03:46.
sport and young people interested in getting involved. I generate money | :03:47. | :03:56.
into the island through bringing horses in. You have young ones to | :03:57. | :04:07.
learn the trade. That gives them a push on in life. Stabling and | :04:08. | :04:11.
training facilities are available here in Jersey. Karl has been | :04:12. | :04:16.
stabling horses at this yard in St. Ouen. It's owned by John Le | :04:17. | :04:19.
Masurier. He says it's important horse racing appoints a new trainer | :04:20. | :04:23.
sooner rather than later. We have a golden opportunity to have somebody | :04:24. | :04:29.
who is experienced in Jersey, because he was here last year and | :04:30. | :04:34.
who is experienced worldwide. He is prepared to pass on that experience | :04:35. | :04:39.
to local people. But what's the criteria for anyone interested in | :04:40. | :04:43.
moving to and trading in Jersey? It is more about what can bring the | :04:44. | :04:50.
island. We get enquiries from finance houses, hedge funds, all the | :04:51. | :04:54.
way down to those who sell potatoes. You have to take a core on | :04:55. | :04:58.
those things. It has to be beneficial to both sides. In Jersey | :04:59. | :05:02.
the emphasis is on local jobs for local people, but in a specialised | :05:03. | :05:05.
industry like horse racing, the challenge of recruiting locally may | :05:06. | :05:11.
ultimately undermine the sport. I put the industry's fears to | :05:12. | :05:14.
Jersey's Economic Development Minister, and asked him if he shared | :05:15. | :05:24.
their concerns. Yes, at face value this is a concern. I think this | :05:25. | :05:29.
demonstrates the difficulty balancing the population challenges | :05:30. | :05:33.
we have in the island, when sectors of the economy come forward with | :05:34. | :05:38.
requests for no Loki qualified staff. We have to look at the till | :05:39. | :05:49.
at the request `` non`locally qualified. People will say it is | :05:50. | :05:59.
restrictive. Is it out of date? Many would argue it is the opposite. Some | :06:00. | :06:04.
would say they would like to see it tightened up. I think the | :06:05. | :06:07.
application has to be fair and balanced and taken into | :06:08. | :06:10.
consideration, that is economically, but socially as well. | :06:11. | :06:20.
Last Thursday we reported on the Jersey Care Inquiry, which will look | :06:21. | :06:23.
into what happened in care and foster homes in the island, and we | :06:24. | :06:27.
referred to the launch of a murder investigation at the Haut de la | :06:28. | :06:31.
Garenne home in 2008. Police at the time had said a potential major | :06:32. | :06:34.
crime inquiry, concerning a possible homicide, was under way. We'd like | :06:35. | :06:39.
to clarify that no formal murder inquiry was ever launched. The | :06:40. | :06:43.
inquiry opens with a public meeting on April the 3rd. | :06:44. | :06:49.
The inquest into the death of Jersey diver Jillian Smith opened today. | :06:50. | :06:53.
Jillian died at the weekend after diving with a group at St | :06:54. | :06:57.
Catherine's Bay. The inquest has now been adjourned. | :06:58. | :07:01.
There are fears drinking water in the Jersey Parish of St John has | :07:02. | :07:05.
been contaminated by slurry. Water in two homes that have their own | :07:06. | :07:09.
boreholes has been tested and found to contain bacteria including | :07:10. | :07:12.
E.coli. The Environment department is investigating. | :07:13. | :07:17.
Meanwhile, investigations are taking place in Guernsey into the cause of | :07:18. | :07:21.
flooding of the foul water network. Guernsey Water is carrying out CCTV | :07:22. | :07:24.
investigations into the problem after heavy rainfall caused | :07:25. | :07:28.
localised flooding. These recent pictures show some problems | :07:29. | :07:30.
encountered, such as roots penetrating the sewer system and | :07:31. | :07:33.
even fatbergs ` which are huge clumps of fat blocking the pipes. | :07:34. | :07:40.
The wider benefits to Guernsey will be taken into account in future when | :07:41. | :07:44.
the States award contracts to outside companies. The new policy | :07:45. | :07:47.
will apply to all jobs the government puts out to tender ` from | :07:48. | :07:50.
office supplies, to building projects. Previously the focus has | :07:51. | :07:54.
been on quality and price, but now it will mean they will look at more | :07:55. | :08:04.
than just the cost. That could be a number of people employed locally. | :08:05. | :08:08.
It could be the amount of money that stays on the island. It could be | :08:09. | :08:12.
that the level of contribution to the sector and so on. It is a much | :08:13. | :08:16.
broader assessment of the value of any contract. Still ahead. A welcome | :08:17. | :08:29.
sign of spring but farmers say this year there'll be far fewer lambs. | :08:30. | :08:33.
Jersey rugby team have made their final preparations ahead of their | :08:34. | :08:36.
crunch match against Ealing tomorrow. They had their last | :08:37. | :08:39.
training session this morning, and will now rest up ahead of the big | :08:40. | :08:43.
game. A win for the Islanders would almost secure their place in the | :08:44. | :08:46.
division and put their opponents on the brink of relegation. We feel we | :08:47. | :08:55.
want to give the guys a chance because of the short turnaround. | :08:56. | :08:58.
They don't have to turn the emotional switch just yet. There | :08:59. | :09:03.
will be a build`up to the game and we don't want to waste that | :09:04. | :09:11.
emotional energy just yet. You can listen to commentary to the match on | :09:12. | :09:16.
radio. Move over Big Brother... Hello Puffin Cam. Hidden cameras on | :09:17. | :09:19.
Burhou will once again be capturing the Channel Island's largest Puffin | :09:20. | :09:22.
colony this summer. And you can watch it all from the comfort of | :09:23. | :09:26.
your own home. Penny Elderfield has been looking at some of the | :09:27. | :09:28.
highlights. Now this is what you really call a | :09:29. | :09:31.
bird's eye view. Hidden cameras, capturing moments we wouldn't | :09:32. | :09:35.
normally get to see. Note to self. Don't try and steal the prime spot | :09:36. | :09:39.
in front of the camera from a Puffin. It gives you a chance to | :09:40. | :09:52.
look in on their lives. They are very cute. All streamed online, you | :09:53. | :09:58.
can watch it from the comfort of your home. Be warned though, | :09:59. | :10:01.
patience may be needed before you catch a glimpse of something good. | :10:02. | :10:04.
But once they arrive they really make themselves at home. The cameras | :10:05. | :10:08.
have been switched on here for the last few years and since it started | :10:09. | :10:12.
the project's really taken off. This year we'll try get a camera up. We | :10:13. | :10:18.
average the technology in time. We have the schoolchildren who can tune | :10:19. | :10:23.
in for the live project, and they'll get a more in`depth introduction to | :10:24. | :10:28.
the programme. It is free of charge. So, from puffins feeding | :10:29. | :10:32.
their young, to the pufflings making their first on screen appearance, | :10:33. | :10:35.
the cameras will capture it all. And for you it's all just a click away. | :10:36. | :10:46.
Fascinating pictures. It seems more like Weatherford docks. `` weather | :10:47. | :11:09.
for chickens. The rain will be with us. It will clear fairly swiftly and | :11:10. | :11:17.
then we will have some showers. This is the weather front which is | :11:18. | :11:21.
producing the rain. It is moving away during the course of the | :11:22. | :11:25.
night. It will be followed by dry weather, but noticed there is | :11:26. | :11:29.
another stripe of blue. That is more rain coming our way. Again, we could | :11:30. | :11:37.
have the lion share of wet weather. Then by Saturday, there is a chance | :11:38. | :11:43.
of heavy showers. Some of them even with hail and thunder. The rain band | :11:44. | :11:50.
is Rovers tonight. It will gradually Peter out at dawn `` with us | :11:51. | :12:03.
tonight. Winds are north`westerly for the start of the day. It is not | :12:04. | :12:10.
too bad. There will be sunshine but a chance on small showers. It is the | :12:11. | :12:14.
end of the day that they become more widespread. Nine or 10 degrees are | :12:15. | :12:21.
the top temperatures. Not very warm, and blustery as well. The | :12:22. | :12:26.
winds from the west. There will be force by winds. There will be good | :12:27. | :12:38.
visibility as well. These are the times of high tides. Most of our | :12:39. | :12:48.
surfing beaches will be choppy. The outlook is staying cold and breezy | :12:49. | :12:53.
into the weekend and plenty of showers around. A little bit drier | :12:54. | :12:59.
as we move into Monday. It would have to reign at the weekend. That | :13:00. | :13:10.
is it for now. We have another news bulletin at 10pm. Goodbye. | :13:11. | :13:18.
business? Yes, there was. Have we addressed it? Yes, we have. Is there | :13:19. | :13:21.
any risk to any of the other businesses? Absolutely not, because | :13:22. | :13:23.
they are independently financed. James Brent, thank you very much | :13:24. | :13:26.
indeed. Coming up on Spotlight, a money row | :13:27. | :13:32.
between neighbouring councils. Jumping for joy ` how Sport Relief | :13:33. | :13:36.
has provided a boost for these youngsters. | :13:37. | :13:38.
And more signs of spring, but the weather's about to turn colder. | :13:39. | :13:49.
David will be here with the details. Torbay's Mayor has been accused of | :13:50. | :13:51.
imposing economic sanctions. People in Brixham say they are being denied | :13:52. | :13:57.
?37,000 that is rightfully theirs. Spotlight's Chris Lyddon reports. | :13:58. | :14:04.
Millions of pounds in cuts to front line services have made Torbay's | :14:05. | :14:09.
Mayor, Gordon Oliver, unpopular. You're in Brixham some people are | :14:10. | :14:12.
comparing him to a character in Robin Hood. I think the Sheriff of | :14:13. | :14:15.
Nottingham is a good comparison, really. | :14:16. | :14:20.
He owes us that money, he has been told to give us that money, but he | :14:21. | :14:26.
is refusing to do so. Brixham has been hit hard in other ways by | :14:27. | :14:30.
Gordon Oliver, and people are now getting fed up with it. The Mayor is | :14:31. | :14:36.
refusing to hand over to Brixham a central government grant of | :14:37. | :14:39.
?37,000. That means council tax here has had | :14:40. | :14:45.
to go up by 25%. I don't want my council tax bill to | :14:46. | :14:49.
over coffee among customers and the No. The rising cost is | :14:50. | :14:54.
over coffee among customers and the cafe owners here. | :14:55. | :14:59.
I wish the Mayor would resign, put someone in there who can run it | :15:00. | :15:03.
properly. We have some great councillors there who could do a | :15:04. | :15:04.
much better job. To add insult to injury, a Freedom | :15:05. | :15:16.
of Information request has revealed that Mayor's car park generates | :15:17. | :15:22.
?370,000 per year, for Torbay's golfers, making it the biggest | :15:23. | :15:27.
moneyspinner of old Torbay's cancels. As a result of the cuts, | :15:28. | :15:33.
children's nursery run from this Brixham school has had its funding | :15:34. | :15:39.
withdrawn, as had a children's nursery run from this building. | :15:40. | :15:43.
We tried to interview the Mayor today but he has been unavailable, | :15:44. | :15:46.
though he has released a statement in which he says they have been | :15:47. | :15:50.
faced with making difficult financial decisions. The council, he | :15:51. | :15:54.
says, has to save ?26 million in the next two years and he says Torbay | :15:55. | :16:00.
has decided to retain Mayor's Grant as a contribution by Brixham towards | :16:01. | :16:08.
the overall Bay budget. ?120,000 in government funding is to | :16:09. | :16:11.
go towards promoting and developing the Cornish language. The Deputy | :16:12. | :16:15.
Prime Minister, Nick Clegg, said the money will help the Cornish Language | :16:16. | :16:18.
Partnership to use the language to encourage more visitors to the area | :16:19. | :16:23.
by promoting its unique identity. A project to restore a historical | :16:24. | :16:26.
graveyard in central Exeter has been awarded ?8,000 worth of lottery | :16:27. | :16:29.
funding. For years the site has been left overgrown and littered with | :16:30. | :16:38.
rubbish. The Exeter Dissenters Graveyard dates back to the 18th | :16:39. | :16:41.
century and at least 1,300 people are buried there. | :16:42. | :16:47.
Ultrasound scans have revealed there won't be as many lambs this Spring | :16:48. | :16:50.
in upland areas like Dartmoor ` hitting farmers profits by as much | :16:51. | :16:53.
as 15%. The freezing temperatures early last year have reduced | :16:54. | :16:56.
fertility in flocks. Anna Varle is live for us tonight at a farm on | :16:57. | :16:59.
Dartmoor. It looks like you have some hungry | :17:00. | :17:03.
little friends there, Anna. As you can see, Laming here is in full | :17:04. | :17:07.
swing. This one was three weeks old and is | :17:08. | :17:15.
the first to be born on this farm. Because `` the cold spring last year | :17:16. | :17:18.
has had a major impact on fertility rates across the region and this | :17:19. | :17:21.
farm is one of the worst affected. Scans show they are down 14% on last | :17:22. | :17:24.
year, equating lost income. | :17:25. | :17:30.
Minutes old, and a welcome sight for Phil. | :17:31. | :17:33.
So far, 200 lambs have been born on this Dartmoor farm, but scans show | :17:34. | :17:37.
the numbers will be 14% down on last year. | :17:38. | :17:39.
That means I'll lose my profit and a lot more besides, as well. I won't | :17:40. | :17:46.
be able to spend any money at all on accessories because of the profit | :17:47. | :17:50.
will be gone. This year is going to be a total wash`out, waste of time, | :17:51. | :17:53.
really. Phil's farm is an average size for | :17:54. | :17:57.
Dartmoor. This year he is expecting to have around 170 fewer lambs than | :17:58. | :18:01.
last, losing him an estimated ?10,000. | :18:02. | :18:05.
And he's not alone. Leyland Branfield has been scanning sheep | :18:06. | :18:16.
across the region for almost 30 years. He says this is one of the | :18:17. | :18:21.
worst he's ever seen. Some of the worst affected farmers | :18:22. | :18:25.
I've done could be 150 lambs less than last year. Which is... Quite a | :18:26. | :18:35.
severe financial loss. In some cases 10% or 15% could be the profit on | :18:36. | :18:37.
the entire flock for that year. The cold weather last spring is | :18:38. | :18:45.
thought to be largely to blame, reducing the fertility in the ewes. | :18:46. | :18:50.
But for farmers like Phil the focus will be now on keeping those born in | :18:51. | :18:52.
the coming weeks alive. It is important to stress that those | :18:53. | :19:04.
farming on lowland areas are doing pretty well, actually. For farmers | :19:05. | :19:09.
like Phil on about Miller the next few weeks will be critical. `` on | :19:10. | :19:20.
their one. Losing just a few of those lambs could be critical. | :19:21. | :19:29.
Around 12,000 large trees have been cut down as part of the preparations | :19:30. | :19:35.
for what will become one of the world's largest tungsten mines. | :19:36. | :19:38.
Hemerdon Mine is just a few miles away from Plymouth and it's already | :19:39. | :19:41.
having a big impact on the landscape. Our Environment | :19:42. | :19:43.
Correspondent, Adrian Campbell, reports. | :19:44. | :19:45.
The remnants of an old Morris Minor Traveller can still be seen whether | :19:46. | :19:49.
it was parked. But most of the trees around it have gone for ever. All | :19:50. | :19:53.
this work is needed to make way for one of the largest tungsten minds on | :19:54. | :19:55.
the planet. We are a big mining operation and we | :19:56. | :19:59.
will have an impact on the environment in the early stages. But | :20:00. | :20:03.
ultimately I want to see more mining in the UK, and if we can complete | :20:04. | :20:07.
this project to a high standard then there is an opportunity for us to do | :20:08. | :20:11.
another one, and another one, and another one. | :20:12. | :20:12.
Barnaby Hudson has the challenging task of managing the environmental | :20:13. | :20:15.
consequences of developing a very large mine. Greater horseshoe bats | :20:16. | :20:18.
have already been found here and efforts are now being made to | :20:19. | :20:21.
protect them with a purpose`built bat roost, costing thousands of | :20:22. | :20:24.
pounds. The greater horseshoe bats need to fly directly into the bat | :20:25. | :20:26.
roost. The entrance has been constructive | :20:27. | :20:29.
12 to 15 centimetres in width. This wall has been constructed as a | :20:30. | :20:33.
black well to ensure the roost itself is essentially in pitch | :20:34. | :20:36.
black. You will also notice the humidity of the building has been | :20:37. | :20:40.
reduced. We have modified the downpipes to keep a constant level | :20:41. | :20:42.
of humidity. The site of the new mine will | :20:43. | :20:48.
eventually cover a large area. Wolf Minerals has given guarantees it | :20:49. | :20:51.
will prtect the environment and backed that up with a bond of ?40 | :20:52. | :20:55.
million. Thousands of new trees will be planted and all of these works | :20:56. | :20:59.
will be monitored by independent inspectors. Clearing has just begun, | :21:00. | :21:03.
but Wolf Minerals is promising to make good all the works. | :21:04. | :21:15.
You may be aware already if you've been fundraising for the charity | :21:16. | :21:20.
that this weekend is the climax for this year's Sport Relief. | :21:21. | :21:24.
People will be running the mile challenge, cycling or taking part in | :21:25. | :21:27.
the swimathon amongst other events to get active, have fun and raise | :21:28. | :21:31.
some money. Johnny Rutherford's been to see one of the projects to | :21:32. | :21:34.
benefit from Sport Relief money in Cornwall. | :21:35. | :21:42.
That is one way to shake off the everyday blues ` flip session. The | :21:43. | :21:52.
name of this translates to change in Cornish, and many young people are | :21:53. | :21:57.
using this for a needed change of scenery, or to help bring change to | :21:58. | :22:02.
their lives. Despite the beautiful countryside we have, we also have | :22:03. | :22:05.
some of the same levels of deprivation as in some inner`city | :22:06. | :22:13.
areas. Trelya is here to be long`term | :22:14. | :22:16.
support for young people, somewhere to come when they need help, | :22:17. | :22:21.
somewhere to come when they are in crisis. David uses Trelya to get | :22:22. | :22:24.
away from the problems and difficulties he suffers with. | :22:25. | :22:29.
As I have grown up my life has been rocky, I have been moved around the | :22:30. | :22:33.
country, to Wales, to Penzance, and I didn't have many friends. I came | :22:34. | :22:38.
to hear to boost my confidence and my social skills, and I met some | :22:39. | :22:43.
friends here and Trelya has been helping a sense. They don't just | :22:44. | :22:47.
play sport here. They also have art lessons, cookery | :22:48. | :22:52.
sessions, film and animation courses and music lessons. | :22:53. | :23:00.
The money raised by Sport Relief has helped keep the centre alive. | :23:01. | :23:05.
It means we can continue working with young people and we can do even | :23:06. | :23:10.
more to help them to have positive outcomes in their lives, to go on | :23:11. | :23:14.
and be productive positive members of their community. | :23:15. | :23:21.
The centre relies on grants and donations. Without them, the | :23:22. | :23:32.
much`needed service would fall. `` fold. We would love to see what | :23:33. | :23:36.
you're getting up to four Sport Relief, share your pictures on our | :23:37. | :23:39.
Facebook page. It has been going on about the | :23:40. | :23:44.
vernal equinox, that significant? Kind of, because some people think | :23:45. | :23:49.
about this as the first day of spring. | :23:50. | :23:51.
Meteorological and we think it is a bit early in the year but many | :23:52. | :23:55.
people say this is the first day of spring. The vernal equinox ` that | :23:56. | :23:59.
means in simple terms the number of minutes of daylight is exactly the | :24:00. | :24:02.
same as the number of minutes of darkness. | :24:03. | :24:06.
It happens twice a year, in March and September. Now you are informed, | :24:07. | :24:10.
Justin. You learn something everyday! | :24:11. | :24:14.
It certainly has not been springlike weather today, the rain and wind has | :24:15. | :24:20.
made a big impact, feeling cold, too. Tomorrow, once the rain clears | :24:21. | :24:26.
tonight it will be more cold. There will be some sunshine and some | :24:27. | :24:30.
showers, probably in that order. Sunshine in the morning, showers in | :24:31. | :24:33.
the afternoon, particularly the early evening. The line of cloud is | :24:34. | :24:40.
producing rain now, cleaning behind it, that has already happened in | :24:41. | :24:44.
parts of Ireland and through the Celtic Sea, West Cornwall. For the | :24:45. | :24:48.
rest of us the line of cloud will give more rain for the next few | :24:49. | :24:52.
hours before moving out of the way. Then we are between weather fronts | :24:53. | :24:56.
for the middle of the day tomorrow. The next line of showers will arrive | :24:57. | :25:01.
towards the early evening and there will be plenty of showers around on | :25:02. | :25:06.
Saturday, too. Again, it is cold enough for showers to give some | :25:07. | :25:09.
winter nests on the highest parts. Not really spring like weather. `` | :25:10. | :25:22.
and Venus on the highest parts. `` wintry conditions. The Swan array is | :25:23. | :25:33.
now open this weekend and in theory any eggs laid today, when they hatch | :25:34. | :25:38.
it will be the first day of summer. This is expertly, where we briefly | :25:39. | :25:42.
had some brightness in the sky, but it is looking pretty dark and gloomy | :25:43. | :25:47.
and the rain was not far away. The band of rain is moving out of the | :25:48. | :25:50.
way overnight tonight, taking its time before clearing, but it will | :25:51. | :25:53.
do, and for much of the night it will be clear, cold, a good view of | :25:54. | :25:59.
the stars, some showers possible but it will be cold enough for some | :26:00. | :26:04.
frost. It is unusual to see frost this late in March, and for | :26:05. | :26:07.
gardeners and there are others that gardeners and there are others that | :26:08. | :26:11.
will happen for the next few nights. Particularly across eastern parts of | :26:12. | :26:15.
Devon into Somerset. Widespread tonight. Tomorrow is breezy, fine, | :26:16. | :26:21.
with some sunshine. Showers get going by late morning and towards | :26:22. | :26:24.
the end of the afternoon showers become widespread and frequent. A | :26:25. | :26:28.
line of frequent showers approaching West Cornwall means for many others | :26:29. | :26:33.
into the early evening it could be wet. Temperatures are held down | :26:34. | :26:37.
because of the cold air, nine or 10 Celsius is the maximum. For the | :26:38. | :26:44.
other silly, breezy, showers sums it up. The times of high water... `` | :26:45. | :26:47.
for the Isles of Scilly. If you are surfing, big waves, but | :26:48. | :27:00.
not very clean, messy on the north coast. The sea temperature at the | :27:01. | :27:04.
moment is between nine and 10 Celsius. | :27:05. | :27:14.
The coastal waters forecast but `` forecast... | :27:15. | :27:20.
Stealing called and show on Saturday. Sunday is the better of | :27:21. | :27:25.
the two weekend days but both Saturday and Sunday night we can | :27:26. | :27:29.
expect widespread frost, possibly as low on Sunday night as minus to | :27:30. | :27:35.
Celsius or minus three Celsius. Typical, with the vernal equinox, we | :27:36. | :27:40.
get weather like that. What was it again? | :27:41. | :27:43.
Something about equal day and night. That is all from us, have a lovely | :27:44. | :27:45.
evening. Good night. | :27:46. | :27:48. |
