Six. Jersey Dairy is the busiest it has | :00:00. | :00:23.
been in years after sales to China treble. It could continue like this | :00:24. | :00:30.
for another month, particularly if the weather stays nice. | :00:31. | :00:34.
The latest attempt to turn around falling visitor numbers in Guernsey. | :00:35. | :00:41.
And 70 years after the islands were liberated, the archaeologists | :00:42. | :00:44.

Jersey Dairy is the busiest it has been in years after sales to China | :00:57. | :01:01.
trebled and new contracts were signed with UK suppliers. The dairy, | :01:02. | :01:05.
which sells milk from the cows of 23 local farmers, is employing more | :01:06. | :01:07.
staff and hasn't ruled out expanding. Its Jersey branded | :01:08. | :01:10.
products are going for a premium in places like Japan. | :01:11. | :01:16.
These have a long journey ahead. More than 8,000 miles away, demand | :01:17. | :01:24.
is growing in China. Orders to the region have trebled in recent | :01:25. | :01:30.
months. It is looking very encouraging. The first shipment left | :01:31. | :01:34.
in November of last year and arrived in China early January, and the | :01:35. | :01:39.
products got into the stores immediately after the Chinese new | :01:40. | :01:44.
year, so, the first week of February, so we have had two or | :01:45. | :01:49.
three months of trading now. Six crates have recently become 20. | :01:50. | :01:56.
My main aim is to try and grow the support amongst the local consumers, | :01:57. | :02:01.
so I have been putting on recipes and doing competitions, working with | :02:02. | :02:06.
schools and trying to have interaction with local schools and | :02:07. | :02:09.
posting news updates so everyone is aware of how well we are doing. And | :02:10. | :02:16.
it's not just sales to China that have increased. And big orders are | :02:17. | :02:24.
still coming in from places like Butlins, Brighton Pier and even the | :02:25. | :02:28.
Chelsea Flower Show. Jersey. It is an island in the | :02:29. | :02:34.
English Channel, and 13 miles off the coast of France. This video, | :02:35. | :02:39.
made for Chinese TV, has helped target the Eastern market. The Gary | :02:40. | :02:44.
says it's priority will always be the island markets. But the grass | :02:45. | :02:54.
could be greener on the eastern side. | :02:55. | :03:01.
Two men have appeared in court in Jersey charged with dangerous | :03:02. | :03:03.
driving on the night of a fatal crash. 22`year`old Vitor Fernandes | :03:04. | :03:06.
died in a collision on Victoria Avenue in December last year. | :03:07. | :03:09.
28`year`old Jeronimo Santos and 19`year`old Luis Carlos Alves | :03:10. | :03:11.
Cardoso faced charges in the Magistrates Court today. 21`year`old | :03:12. | :03:14.
Jose Joao Santos Silva, from St Saviour, has already been charged | :03:15. | :03:17.
with causing death by dangerous driving. All three will reappear in | :03:18. | :03:19.
court on the 24th April. Improving Alderney's air links is | :03:20. | :03:23.
one of the main priorities of the islands newest states member. Norma | :03:24. | :03:25.
Paris won this weekend's by`election following the death of Paul Arditti, | :03:26. | :03:30.
who died in January. Ms Paris will serve the remaining eight months of | :03:31. | :03:33.
Mr Arditti's four year term after polling 394 votes. Voter turnout was | :03:34. | :03:42.
about 55%. The most important thing we all need | :03:43. | :03:47.
to look at is the airport and our transport links, particularly our | :03:48. | :03:52.
aviation link. All of the other issues we have will fall into place | :03:53. | :03:56.
if we get this sorted out, and I have a lot of experience in | :03:57. | :04:00.
aviation, and I'm looking forward to being able to help. | :04:01. | :04:05.
A Jersey landlady is calling for more protection under Jersey's | :04:06. | :04:08.
housing laws after a tenant left her flat in such a bad state it needs | :04:09. | :04:12.
thousands of pounds worth of repair work done. Sharon Campbell believes | :04:13. | :04:15.
there should be some sort of blacklist of tenants. | :04:16. | :04:23.
Three years of filth and damage. This is the state landlady Sharon | :04:24. | :04:26.
Campbell found her flat in after leasing it to tenants who moved out | :04:27. | :04:30.
of the property, not just leaving toys and clothes, but thousands of | :04:31. | :04:37.
pounds worth of repairs. If they don't look after it, what is anyone | :04:38. | :04:43.
going to do? The only thing they can do is take somebody to court for the | :04:44. | :04:47.
amount it will cost, knowing I'd will not get that back. I have not | :04:48. | :04:53.
got the time to do that. There needs to be a system that allows people to | :04:54. | :04:57.
be black listed, if you like, and then monitored in the next property. | :04:58. | :05:04.
But Sharon is not alone. Jersey's Citizens Advice Bureau say they see | :05:05. | :05:07.
many other landlords in Sharon's position, and say the rules need to | :05:08. | :05:11.
change when it comes to leasing property so both the tenant and | :05:12. | :05:14.
landlord are protected and not left out of pocket. Two things we would | :05:15. | :05:18.
really like to see in order to help alleviate the problems associated | :05:19. | :05:20.
with landlords and tenants, the first is a rental protection deposit | :05:21. | :05:26.
scheme, and the second is the compulsory use of condition reports | :05:27. | :05:28.
that would outline the condition of the property at the beginning of the | :05:29. | :05:32.
lease and then review that at the end of the lease. There are moves | :05:33. | :05:37.
planned by the states to bring in improved protection for landlords | :05:38. | :05:40.
and tenants, but in the meantime, for Sharon the clean`up continues. | :05:41. | :05:49.
It's hoped a festival to promote Guernsey's heritage will attract | :05:50. | :05:57.
more visitors to the island. The Heritage Festival takes place over | :05:58. | :06:00.
the next 30 days and features activities on land and sea designed | :06:01. | :06:03.
to highlight the island's rich history. Last year saw a drop in | :06:04. | :06:06.
visitor numbers. Mike Wilkins reports on the latest attempt to | :06:07. | :06:08.
boost tourism. Starting the summer season with a | :06:09. | :06:11.
bang, this video is accompanying Heritage Festival, a new event | :06:12. | :06:14.
designed to attract more people to the island. Places like Castle | :06:15. | :06:19.
Cornet are very popular and get around 50,000 visitors each year, | :06:20. | :06:22.
but tourism bosses are keen for more of the island and its history to be | :06:23. | :06:26.
explored. And it certainly needs to do something. The number of visitors | :06:27. | :06:30.
staying in Guernsey fell by 3% in 2013 compared to the previous year. | :06:31. | :06:36.
But will focusing on a small island with a big history be enough to | :06:37. | :06:46.
encourage more tourists? Very helpful that it will attract lots of | :06:47. | :06:51.
visitors. We are making the most of the established events that take | :06:52. | :06:54.
place, liberation day in the literary festival, but we now have | :06:55. | :06:59.
35 days of activities and events that will appeal to all of the | :07:00. | :07:04.
family, and we are hoping that we will see many more visitors coming | :07:05. | :07:09.
over to the island and enjoying the island and everything it has to | :07:10. | :07:14.
offer from a heritage perspective. Some feel that Guernsey doesn't do | :07:15. | :07:17.
enough to promote its ancient and modern history. But now it's trying. | :07:18. | :07:21.
And it'll ultimately be the visitor numbers that'll decide if this | :07:22. | :07:24.
celebration of history is a hit this summer. | :07:25. | :07:36.
Plans in Alderney to mint physical money based on the virtual online | :07:37. | :07:39.
currency Bitcoin have been put on hold. The Royal Mint suddenly | :07:40. | :07:42.
announced they were unable to produce the coins this year due to | :07:43. | :07:45.
pressure of work. We are disappointed, obviously, but to be | :07:46. | :07:49.
honest, it was a small project on and there is a lot of | :07:50. | :07:52.
misunderstanding about it. If you could pursue new things and you do | :07:53. | :07:56.
not look at opportunities, then we would not be doing our job, and I'd | :07:57. | :08:03.
guess, back in 1990s, the same attitude was held about gambling, | :08:04. | :08:10.
and look what with that led to. `` look at what that led to. It's | :08:11. | :08:21.
nearly 70 years since the Channel Islands were liberated, but stories | :08:22. | :08:23.
of the occupation are still being uncovered. Archaeologists are in | :08:24. | :08:26.
Jersey this week excavating the site of a former World War Two German | :08:27. | :08:30.
camp. It's the first time anyone has unearthed a slave or forced labour | :08:31. | :08:34.
camp in the Channel Islands, and as Emma Chambers reports, the findings | :08:35. | :08:37.
are revealing stories that may have been lost over the years. | :08:38. | :08:39.
I think the two most impressive features in this camp are the two | :08:40. | :08:43.
entrance posts, but what's interesting about them is there's a | :08:44. | :08:46.
single strand of barbed wire going around this one and on this one | :08:47. | :08:50.
there is double strands of wire, and I think that's because security | :08:51. | :08:53.
didn't need to be so tight around the camp. | :08:54. | :08:55.
A scary insight into life as a forced labour worker. For years this | :08:56. | :08:59.
has all been hidden under ivy and trees, but has now been unearthed by | :09:00. | :09:05.
a group of archaeologists. Dr Gilly Carr and her team are digging into | :09:06. | :09:09.
the history of Lager Wick, a former German camp situated here on | :09:10. | :09:15.
Grouville Marsh. It's the only site left from the Occupation that's not | :09:16. | :09:18.
been destroyed or built on, so evidence of those who were forced to | :09:19. | :09:21.
live and work here have been preserved. We were coming up with a | :09:22. | :09:27.
member of these yesterday. I think there were two dominant vessels, and | :09:28. | :09:33.
one of them is a basin, a dish kind of vessel, and the other one is a | :09:34. | :09:36.
job, and it talks about people pouring water into a jog to get | :09:37. | :09:41.
washed in the morning. This excavation is the first of its | :09:42. | :09:44.
kind in the Channel Islands. What has been found from this site could | :09:45. | :09:48.
be displayed in a museum, so the visible evidence of those forced to | :09:49. | :09:51.
work will not fall through the island's history. Beautifully | :09:52. | :09:58.
sunny. What will it be like for the rest of the week? | :09:59. | :10:00.
sunny. What will it be like for the We have seen some lovely bright | :10:01. | :10:04.
skies through today, and we have more of the same on for tomorrow. | :10:05. | :10:10.
Sunny skies, staying dry. We will see the breeze freshening through | :10:11. | :10:14.
the day. If you take a look at the satellite picture, you will see that | :10:15. | :10:20.
across the bulk of the United Kingdom, the weather fronts are | :10:21. | :10:27.
locked down from the Atlantic. That is the situation of high pressure | :10:28. | :10:30.
today. The morrow it slips further east and introduces more of a breezy | :10:31. | :10:36.
easterly, and then by Wednesday, the winds will ease a little, but things | :10:37. | :10:42.
might get a bit warmer for a time. Looking at the satellite picture, | :10:43. | :10:49.
there it is cloud in the sky. As we head through the night, we will not | :10:50. | :10:52.
see any cloud forming all stop a pretty quiet night on the way, that | :10:53. | :10:56.
we will see winds gradually veering around. Temperatures will drop into | :10:57. | :11:04.
the mid teens in some locations. Tomorrow it is a bright start and we | :11:05. | :11:07.
should see plenty of sunshine through the day. We are going to | :11:08. | :11:12.
notice the winds are a little bit breezy here. They are coming in from | :11:13. | :11:16.
the east, but nonetheless, temperatures will stay in the early | :11:17. | :11:20.
teens. Taking a look at the cost to workers forecast `` coastal water | :11:21. | :11:30.
forecast... Conditions are fair and the visibility is good. Our times of | :11:31. | :11:32.
high water. Not a great deal to work with for | :11:33. | :11:42.
our surfers. Most of the waves will be around one or two feet, but | :11:43. | :11:47.
conditions are clean. We will keep the high pressure in charge, and it | :11:48. | :11:54.
will look settles and try, but more cloud will be building toward the | :11:55. | :11:57.
end of the week. A pretty decent run`up to Easter. | :11:58. | :12:03.
I will hand you over now. Goodbye. consider their verdict. | :12:04. | :12:15.
There's still plenty to come on Spotlight tonight: Rescued from the | :12:16. | :12:21.
brink ` one year on we'll find out what has happened to Axminster | :12:22. | :12:22.
Carpets. And how much did they raise? | :12:23. | :12:26.
The lifeboat crew who cycled round Britain to pay for a new boat. | :12:27. | :12:39.
Controversial plans for the Atlantic Array wind farm off North Devon may | :12:40. | :12:43.
well have been shelved but almost two hundred wind turbines ARE | :12:44. | :12:46.
planned for the sea off Dorset. Once again it's a scheme which pits the | :12:47. | :12:49.
economy against the environment, with hundreds of jobs likely to be | :12:50. | :12:52.
created. From Portland, Spotlight's environment correspondent Adrian | :12:53. | :12:54.
Campbell reports. Portland Harbour says it's well | :12:55. | :12:57.
placed to benefit from the ?3.5 billion wind farm being planned off | :12:58. | :13:00.
the coast of Dorset. The wind farm would be situated between Portland | :13:01. | :13:04.
and the Isle of Wight. If it passes all the necessary planning hurdles, | :13:05. | :13:07.
it's set to have just under 200 turbines which the developers say | :13:08. | :13:12.
will power more than 700,000 homes. Portland Port says it has much to | :13:13. | :13:16.
gain. We will see vessels such as this, | :13:17. | :13:20.
and larger, coming in and out, taking the assembled wind turbines | :13:21. | :13:23.
out offshore ` that will last three to five years. Beyond that, you have | :13:24. | :13:26.
the long`term operational and maintenance support of the site. | :13:27. | :13:35.
It may be well situated to take advantage of any business | :13:36. | :13:38.
opportunities from the creation of a wind farm between here and the Isle | :13:39. | :13:42.
of Wight, but what about the impact on the environment? | :13:43. | :13:44.
Environmentalists have concerns about the possible impact on birds | :13:45. | :13:50.
from all of those turbines. The key to this is the environmental | :13:51. | :13:54.
impact assessment. We're really hoping that we will have enough time | :13:55. | :13:58.
to be able to go through what would be a very thick document, and look | :13:59. | :14:02.
at it in detail because, at the moment, it's hard to judge whether | :14:03. | :14:06.
this is going to be a good project or a bad project for the | :14:07. | :14:07.
environment. A large wind farm off Dorset does | :14:08. | :14:11.
offer some economic benefits to the county, but environmental | :14:12. | :14:13.
campaigners say any planning decision shouldn't be rushed, as | :14:14. | :14:23.
there is too much at stake. The brother of Alan Jeal, whose body | :14:24. | :14:26.
was found on Perranporth beach in February, is appealing to the public | :14:27. | :14:31.
for information. The body was found unclothed except for one walking | :14:32. | :14:36.
shoe. A sock was found in his mouth. Derek Jeal, who is Alan Jeal's | :14:37. | :14:39.
younger brother, was unavailable for a BBC interview and was recorded by | :14:40. | :14:44.
the police. The uncertainties are stopping us | :14:45. | :14:47.
from pulling a closure to things. We can't lay Alan to rest. We can't lay | :14:48. | :14:54.
our thoughts to rest without knowing what has happened. We need to get | :14:55. | :14:57.
rid of this uncertainty and have some answers. | :14:58. | :15:05.
A new doctor`led minor injuries unit is to open in Tiverton in July. The | :15:06. | :15:11.
contract to run the unit at Tiverton and District Hospital has been | :15:12. | :15:14.
awarded to South Western Ambulance NHS Foundation Trust. It'll be open | :15:15. | :15:22.
14 hours a day. Axminster Carpets is back in profit | :15:23. | :15:25.
a year after being rescued from administration. | :15:26. | :15:27.
Hundreds of workers lost their jobs in March last year, but a month | :15:28. | :15:30.
later it was bought by an entrepreneur from Somerset. One year | :15:31. | :15:33.
on, more staff are being employed, new products are being made and | :15:34. | :15:36.
Axminster Carpets has its Royal Warrant back. Spotlight's Andrea | :15:37. | :15:41.
Ormsby has the story. 250 years of carpet making. So | :15:42. | :15:46.
nearly lost. A year on, it's all changed. | :15:47. | :15:52.
It's totally transformational. We have gone from 100 people employed, | :15:53. | :15:56.
when we first started, to now over 160 people. Our sales have doubled, | :15:57. | :15:59.
we have now hit ?12 million of turnover in our first year, and I | :16:00. | :16:03.
can say that we have made a modest profit. It has been really fantastic | :16:04. | :16:08.
in a year when so much has had to be rebuilt and restructured. We are | :16:09. | :16:11.
really proud of what people have done. | :16:12. | :16:18.
The Axminster Carpet showroom ` a year on and it couldn't look more | :16:19. | :16:26.
different. Trying to use these room sets, so | :16:27. | :16:30.
that people can really see what the carpet will look like in the sort of | :16:31. | :16:33.
application that they will have. That is why we will have a whole | :16:34. | :16:37.
series of them showing different styles. You can really see what it's | :16:38. | :16:41.
going to look like, and it takes the risk out of that decision`making for | :16:42. | :16:43.
the customer. Axminster Carpets will always be | :16:44. | :16:46.
rooted in the traditional carpet, but now there is a move to | :16:47. | :16:49.
modernise. This is a new concept for us. Not | :16:50. | :16:53.
only can we make these carpets,we can put these colour features in so | :16:54. | :16:56.
it makes a wonderful runner up a staircase, and then we can use | :16:57. | :17:00.
various types of edging to create a complement that goes with your wall | :17:01. | :17:03.
colourings or your wallpaper coverings, as we have done here. We | :17:04. | :17:07.
can do this in a whole variety of ways, which makes an almost bespoke | :17:08. | :17:16.
offering for our customers. It's really really exciting. We've | :17:17. | :17:27.
repainted, got a new carpet. Finally, we've got these lovely room | :17:28. | :17:31.
sets that people can come in, and it's been very well received by | :17:32. | :17:33.
customers. Back in the factory, and more people | :17:34. | :17:36.
are getting their old jobs back. March fifth at 2pm, I found out I'd | :17:37. | :17:40.
been made redundant, along with 200 other people. A dreadful day. And | :17:41. | :17:44.
then it was just an onward thing, looking for employment all the time, | :17:45. | :17:47.
finding bits and pieces but nothing permanent. Nothing like this that | :17:48. | :17:51.
I'm used to doing. And here I am a year on, back again and happy to be | :17:52. | :17:58.
here. Today, Axminster Carpets is into new | :17:59. | :18:01.
markets, new products and new people. A company once again | :18:02. | :18:12.
confident of the future. Time for the sport now and all four | :18:13. | :18:15.
South West clubs are keeping the football season alive, aren't they, | :18:16. | :18:20.
Dave? Yeovil Town's future as a | :18:21. | :18:23.
Championship club remains bleak, even though they've moved off the | :18:24. | :18:26.
bottom of the table. They're five points away from the clear after a | :18:27. | :18:29.
1`1 draw at Huish Park against Bournemouth, who'd won their last | :18:30. | :18:32.
five games. Kieffer Moore put Town ahead only for Eddie Howe's team to | :18:33. | :18:36.
fortuitously eke out an equaliser to deny Yeovil winning points. | :18:37. | :18:42.
Onto League Two and Plymouth Argyle's play`off ambitions have | :18:43. | :18:45.
been severely harmed after a home defeat to Oxford. At the other end | :18:46. | :18:48.
of the table, Exeter City are in grave danger of joining Torquay | :18:49. | :18:51.
United in the relegation positions. Well a little earlier, former | :18:52. | :18:54.
Torquay and Plymouth defender Guy Branston joined me to assess the | :18:55. | :19:02.
weekend's results. Plymouth Argyle, I think, for me, | :19:03. | :19:05.
will get in the opportunity and actually get in the play`off | :19:06. | :19:08.
position. I was disappointed that they obviously lost, but there are | :19:09. | :19:11.
four games left ` a great opportunity for them to still do it. | :19:12. | :19:15.
There are a lot of permutations that can happen with the four games that | :19:16. | :19:18.
we've got. Now the two goals they've conceded | :19:19. | :19:22.
at Home Park in Oxford, how could they have been prevented? | :19:23. | :19:24.
By cutting out obviously the silly free kicks given out for the first | :19:25. | :19:28.
goal, but also defending better here. Going across the baulks, | :19:29. | :19:31.
someone's got to stick their head on it and clear it away. You stop the | :19:32. | :19:35.
volley going across the baulks, you stop the goal. But the second goal | :19:36. | :19:38.
was so disappointing ` you don't drop off at the end. One of the lads | :19:39. | :19:43.
have got to go out and close it down, but then you've got to stop | :19:44. | :19:46.
Constable shooting because he knows he can finish. He's one of the top | :19:47. | :19:49.
scorers. And it didn't help matters having | :19:50. | :19:52.
Maxine Blanchard sent off for a second caution. He misses the next | :19:53. | :19:54.
few games. Moving to St James Park, Exeter City | :19:55. | :19:58.
have been dragged into that danger area. How serious is it for Exeter | :19:59. | :20:00.
now? It was a disappointing game. It | :20:01. | :20:03.
didn't flow. It was uncomfortable. Jordan Moore Taylor gets a great | :20:04. | :20:06.
finish. He capped off a great game. He was fantastic all day. But the | :20:07. | :20:10.
shameless defending at the end of it was disappointing as well. When the | :20:11. | :20:14.
actual ball is bouncing about, one of the defenders has now got to go | :20:15. | :20:18.
and stop the ball. Stop the shot, and then clear the ball. They don't | :20:19. | :20:22.
do that and they concede and end up equalising. That goal was really | :20:23. | :20:25.
important, because now they are in the mix. | :20:26. | :20:27.
They are only two points above the bottom two relegation places, one of | :20:28. | :20:30.
which is occupied by Torquay United. Is it too little too late after | :20:31. | :20:34.
their win at Bristol Rovers? For me, yes. It's disappointing. | :20:35. | :20:38.
Coulthirst scores a fantastic goal. Shaquile Coulthirst, on loan from | :20:39. | :20:44.
Tottenham. He ends up getting a great shot off to Mansell. He gets | :20:45. | :20:48.
his shot off, and hopefully a stroke of luck, he gets a second goal. But | :20:49. | :20:53.
I think it's a bit too little too late. | :20:54. | :20:55.
Hopefully, they go down in a blaze of glory. | :20:56. | :21:01.
That's going to be a massive game on Easter Monday, Exeter versus | :21:02. | :21:07.
Torquay. Can wait! Exeter Chiefs occupy seventh spot in | :21:08. | :21:10.
rugby's Premiership ` a place which could see them contest the play`off | :21:11. | :21:13.
for entry to next season's new`look European Cup. | :21:14. | :21:19.
Their 38`33 win at bottom club Worcester Warriors was only Exeter's | :21:20. | :21:23.
second league victory of the year. Hooker Jack Yeandle went over twice | :21:24. | :21:26.
as the Chiefs outscored Worcester by five tries to four. Dave Lewis, Sam | :21:27. | :21:29.
Hill and Gareth Steenson also scored to open up a 21`3 advantage at one | :21:30. | :21:32.
point. Somerset's County Championship | :21:33. | :21:34.
cricket opener against Yorkshire at Taunton is producing a feast of | :21:35. | :21:43.
runs. Last years runners`up posted a total | :21:44. | :21:46.
of 450 earlier today, with Somerset xxx for x in reply. North Devon's | :21:47. | :21:50.
Craig Overton took three wickets in Yorkshire's first innings. | :21:51. | :22:01.
`` 166 for three. A new diving academy, bearing the | :22:02. | :22:05.
name of Plymouth's Tom Daley, hopes to unearth more top divers. The Tom | :22:06. | :22:08.
Daley Diving Academy will be mainly based at his new headquarters in | :22:09. | :22:12.
London, but courses will also run up and down the country. The | :22:13. | :22:14.
19`year`old is currently training for the Diving World Series event. | :22:15. | :22:17.
Finally, don't forget Late Kick Off tonight at 11.30pm when they feature | :22:18. | :22:21.
Torquay United at Bristol Rovers and Gordon Sparks' 30 years as a | :22:22. | :22:23.
commentator for Plymouth Argyle. That's on BBC One. | :22:24. | :22:53.
U2 are naughty this evening! `` you two. | :22:54. | :22:55.
Members of Sidmouth's lifeboat crew have completed their cycle tour of | :22:56. | :22:57.
the British coastline raising money for a new back`up boat for the town. | :22:58. | :23:01.
The town's lifeboat has been independently funded since the RNLI | :23:02. | :23:04.
pulled out of the station in the 1920's. The crew has visited other | :23:05. | :23:07.
independent lifeboat stations around the country as part of a fund | :23:08. | :23:10.
raising challenge. Emma Ruminski reports. | :23:11. | :23:12.
Returning home after 2,500 miles in the saddle. Three members of the | :23:13. | :23:15.
Sidmouth Lifeboats cycled into town after their marathon fundraising | :23:16. | :23:16.
effort. Really proud of what the guys have | :23:17. | :23:20.
done. And the money we've raised for the boat. It's been excellent. | :23:21. | :23:23.
Lifeboat crews all over the world have to show qualities of courage, | :23:24. | :23:29.
persistence, duty... They hardly sound like slobs. But | :23:30. | :23:33.
that's the name they chose for themselves, shorthand for Sidmouth | :23:34. | :23:36.
Lifeboat On Bikes. They've spent the last two weeks cycling around the UK | :23:37. | :23:39.
visiting other independent lifeboat stations around the country. The aim | :23:40. | :23:43.
was to raise money to pay for a new support boat back home. | :23:44. | :23:50.
Well, basically, this is our main boat here. It's difficult to get | :23:51. | :24:01.
enough time for all the trainees on this boat. So, what we decided to do | :24:02. | :24:07.
is to buy a new boat... Which could be used for the training. | :24:08. | :24:16.
The local residents here in Sidmouth have had a long association with the | :24:17. | :24:20.
lifeboat. They stepped in to fund it when in 1912 the RNLI pulled out. | :24:21. | :24:26.
They're responsible for the area between Axmouth and Budleigh | :24:27. | :24:29.
Salterton about 30 shouts a year. BBC Radio Devon's Judi Spiers | :24:30. | :24:32.
awarded the cyclist their well earned medals. A cheque was also | :24:33. | :24:35.
presented from a local bequest which will take the total raised to around | :24:36. | :24:50.
?15,000.``` ?15,000. Weather`wise it's been a great day | :24:51. | :24:53.
today with unbroken sunshine across much of the region These pictures of | :24:54. | :24:57.
the Grand Western Canal Tiverton today were shot by our cameraman | :24:58. | :25:00.
Alec Collyer. Great weather for the wildlife there and for those out | :25:01. | :25:03.
enjoying the sunshine too. So what of tonight and tomorrow's weather? | :25:04. | :25:05.
Well Ian Ferguson has the details. Hello, good evening. A pattern of | :25:06. | :25:12.
high pressure dominating the pattern out for a few days to come. A good | :25:13. | :25:16.
deal of dry, settled and fine weather. Just subtleties really in | :25:17. | :25:19.
terms of the changes of wind direction, and the amount of cloud | :25:20. | :25:22.
that may come and go. This evening and tonight, we got clear skies all | :25:23. | :25:27.
the way. A recipe for a chilly night with a touch of Frost. Tomorrow, the | :25:28. | :25:30.
flow will start coming from the south to south`east. The south coast | :25:31. | :25:33.
was the slightly depressed temperatures versus the northern | :25:34. | :25:36.
coasts who will see the hire of the temperatures. For the rest of this | :25:37. | :25:40.
evening and tonight, a good deal of sunshine across the board, including | :25:41. | :25:43.
down through the Channel Islands. As we continue into the nights, we'll | :25:44. | :25:46.
find that some Frost continues to form fairly widely inland. Maybe | :25:47. | :25:49.
some fog through the Exe Valley, for example, with a little bit of missed | :25:50. | :25:52.
elsewhere. Broadly speaking, it's going to be clear skies by tomorrow. | :25:53. | :25:55.
Temperatures will have dropped down to values a good steel lower than | :25:56. | :25:59.
the values you are seeing there, I suspect. We could be as low as two | :26:00. | :26:03.
or three Celsius. A touch of Frost quite likely. Tomorrow, a case of | :26:04. | :26:06.
watching how the skies develop. If we lose any of the fog and low | :26:07. | :26:11.
cloud, we will all be in the same boat with a good deal of sunshine. | :26:12. | :26:15.
With that breeze coming in from the southern quarter, it will be the | :26:16. | :26:18.
south coast that sees the temperature is just that little bit | :26:19. | :26:21.
down compared to today. Maybe by two or three degrees. The North will | :26:22. | :26:24.
have the highest temperatures, including the Channel Islands. | :26:25. | :26:26.
Here's how those temperatures should settle ` around 12 degrees, getting | :26:27. | :26:30.
up to 15 as we head towards the northern coast of Cornwall. 13 | :26:31. | :26:33.
Celsius will be fairly typical across the Channel Islands. A | :26:34. | :26:36.
similar story as we get through to Wednesday. There will generally be | :26:37. | :26:39.
more cloud around as we move towards Thursday and Friday, but nonetheless | :26:40. | :26:41.
a good deal of dry weather. That's it from me. Goodbye. Welcome | :26:42. | :27:13.
to the South West if you are on holiday at the moment. | :27:14. | :27:17. |
