Good evening. There are calls tonight for better protection for

landlords as well as tenants in the property rental sector in Jersey.

The Citizens Advice Bureau says it's heard from many landlords who say

they have little recourse if their property is damaged. One landlady

wants to see a blacklist for problem tenants, after she was left with

thousands of pounds worth of damage. Chris Harrison reports.

Three years of filth and damage. This is the state landlady Sharon

Campbell found her flat in after leasing it to tenants who moved out

of the property not just leaving toys and clothes but thousands of

pounds worth of repairs. If they don't look after it, what's is

anyone going to do? The only thing I can do is take someone to court for

the amount this is going to put right knowing I will not get it

back. I'd do not have time to do that. It needs to be a system that

`` there needs to be a system where people can get monitored in the next

property. But Sharon is not alone, Jersey's Citizens Advice Bureau say

they're see many other landlords in Sharon's position, and say the rules

need to change when it comes to leasing property so both the tenant

and landlord are protected and not left out of pocket.

Two things we would like to see in order to help alleviate the problems

associated with landlords and tenants, the first is a rental

deposit scheme and the second is a compulsory use of condition reports

that would outline the condition of a property at the beginning of that

lease and then review that at the end of the lease.

There is also political pressure brought on by the states. We have

already work reads the deposit protection scheme. `` already

agreed. There needs to be an inspection to decide weather or not

there has been damage done to a property, and weather or not it was

negligent or intentional. It is hoped that improved protection

for landlords and tenants would be in action before this year's

election. But in the meantime, for Sharon the clean`up continues.

Meanwhile in Guernsey the Housing Minister says the States will soon

debate new laws which will make it easier to penalise landlords who

provide poor quality accommodation. The proposed legislation will set

minimum standards on living conditions and include limiting the

number of people allowed to live in a room.

Improving Alderney's air links is one of the main priorities of the

islands newest states member. Norma Paris won this weekend's by`election

following the death of Paul Arditti who died in January. The most

important thing we need to look at is the airports and transport links,

particularly the aviation links, and then the other issues we have on the

island will fall into place. I have a lot of experience in aviation and

I am looking forward to being able to help.

Guernsey's seen a drop in visitor numbers, down 3% last year. Now

tourism bosses are hoping a Heritage Festival will bring people back to

the island. The event takes place over the next 30 days and features

activities on land and sea designed to highlight the island's rich

history. Jersey Dairy is the busiest it's been in years after sales to

China trebled and new contracts were signed with UK suppliers. The dairy,

which sells milk from the cows of 23 local farmers, is employing more

staff and hasn't ruled out expanding. Its Jersey branded

products are going for a premium in places like Japan. Jen Smith

reports. These have a long journey ahead.

More than 8,000 miles away demand is growing in China. Orders to the

region have trebled in recent months. The first shipment left

Jersey November last year, arrived in China early January, and the

product got into the stores immediately after the Chinese new

year, so we have had two or three months of trading now.

Six crates have recently become 20. My main aim is to try and grow the

support amongst consumers, so I'd have been putting recipes and in

doing, the shins and working with schools and posting a new updates so

everyone is aware of how well we are doing.

And it's not just sales to China that have increased. A new contract

with the UK's largest ice cream distributor will double sales to

that market. And big orders are still coming in from places like

Butlins, Brighton Pier and even the Chelsea Flower Show.

Jersey, an island in the English Channel, and 13 miles off the coast

of France. Videos like these, made for Chinese

TV, have helped target Eastern consumers. And while the dairy says

its priority will always be the island market, could the grass be

greener on the Eastern side? Time for a look at tomorrow's weather.

staying dry, but the breeze will freshen through the day. If we take

a look at the satellite picture, you can see clear skies across France

and ourselves and across the bulk of the United Kingdom on and that is

because pressure is in charge, and it is keeping with the weather

fronts locked down in the Atlantic. Tomorrow, it will slip further

east, introducing more of a breezy easterly, and by Wednesday, the wind

eased down a bit but the reason is the coming in from the continent.

Looking at the satellite picture across ourselves, barely a cloud in

the sky. Through the night, we will not see any cloud forming. It pretty

late night on the way, but we will see the winds gradually veering

round, and increasing through the night. Temperatures dropping down

into single figures in some locations. A bright start to

tomorrow, and we should see plenty of sunshine through the day, but we

will notice that the winds will be breezy air, and they are coming in

from the east, but temperatures will get up in some spots to the early

teens. Taking a look at our coastal waters forecast. The winds are

easterly, perhaps force five at times for the afternoon. Conditions

are fair and visibility is good. Our times of high water.

Not a great deal to work with for our servers. Most of the ways around

two or three feet, and conditions are clean. The next few days, we

keep that high pressure in charge. It is looking fine and dry and

settled, that we will see more cloud dumping towards the end of the week.

Overall, a pretty decent run up to Easter. That is it from the late
