Good evening. Martin McGuinness has said his decision to take part in

the UK State visit of the Irish President was bold but important.

The deputy first minister will attend a series of events, including

a banquet hosted by the Queen on Tuesday. Helen Jones reports. He

shook hands with the Queen both in private and in public two years ago

during her visit to Belfast. He has confirmed he will attend events this

weekend including a state banquet. We are stepping forward, it is bold

but it is very important. From our perspective we could find all sorts

of reasons why we should decline an invitation from Queen Elizabeth to

her house and no doubt she has many number of reasons why she should not

invite us to her house but we have agreed this is an important thing to

do. Earlier the Prime Minister said he believed this weekend's tour

could pave the way for royal input into the Easter rising celebrations

in two years time. The centenary commemoration ceremonies in 2016

will be another event in the continuing closeness and closer

relationships between both our countries.

There will be some wet and warm year coming in around it. Into the

afternoon there is a show at the picture, some of those showers heavy

with rain and thunder in the mix. Showers will continue as we go

through the night, another chilly night with temperatures around three

Celcius the wall. Into Tuesday it should get a bit brighter if not

warmer.
