Also on tonight's programme: And after a cracking start | :01:02. | :01:03.
to November we'll pay for it tonight with a frost in places. | :01:04. | :01:06.
I'll be back with a look ahead to the forecast for | :01:07. | :01:09.
The Ulster rugby players Paddy Jackson and Stuart Olding say | :01:10. | :01:18.
they reject any allegations of sexual offences against them. | :01:19. | :01:23.
It emerged today that they were two of three men arrested | :01:24. | :01:26.
They were questioned about an alleged incident at a house | :01:27. | :01:30.
Paddy Jackson and Stuart Olding are well-known names in rugby. | :01:31. | :01:41.
They're also part of the international team. | :01:42. | :01:49.
The arrests happened at the end of June, but details | :01:50. | :01:52.
In a statement, Paddy Jackson's solicitors said he completely | :01:53. | :01:55.
rejects any allegations made against him and he has fully | :01:56. | :01:57.
co-operated with police in their inquiries. | :01:58. | :01:59.
This afternoon, Stuart Olding's solicitors said he too completely | :02:00. | :02:02.
rejects any allegations of wrongdoing made against him | :02:03. | :02:05.
and that he too has fully co-operated with the police. | :02:06. | :02:10.
With Olding currently injured and not playing, | :02:11. | :02:12.
Ulster's Director of Rugby was asked today about Paddy Jackson. | :02:13. | :02:20.
He is available for the Test series as of next week. The player | :02:21. | :02:28.
management programme that is on. He cannot play this week. | :02:29. | :02:31.
Ulster Rugby said the two men have been assisting | :02:32. | :02:33.
The statement adds that the players deny any wrongdoing and have not | :02:34. | :02:36.
The Ireland squad plays New Zealand in Chicago on Saturday, | :02:37. | :02:40.
and 24-year-old Jackson has been left out - | :02:41. | :02:42.
the Irish Rugby Football Union said it was for "personal reasons". | :02:43. | :02:45.
The police say a file is being prepared for | :02:46. | :02:47.
Translink has unveiled an updated plan to reshape a huge area | :02:48. | :02:55.
of Belfast city centre with a new transport hub. | :02:56. | :02:59.
It will involve rebuilding the Europa Bus Centre | :03:00. | :03:03.
and Great Victoria Street railway station as well as adding offices | :03:04. | :03:07.
and shops to a site which stretches across 20 acres. | :03:08. | :03:11.
The public are being asked for their views on the scheme. | :03:12. | :03:13.
Our economics and business editor, John Campbell, reports. | :03:14. | :03:17.
Europa Bus Centre and Great Victoria Street are the busiest | :03:18. | :03:20.
They take about eight million passengers a year, a number | :03:21. | :03:26.
So, Translink are planning to increase capacity | :03:27. | :03:33.
by radically reshaping their city centre property. | :03:34. | :03:41.
This is a huge site. It stretches far behind me right up to the | :03:42. | :03:48.
boundary line where you can see the traffic moving. This entire area | :03:49. | :03:51.
will be transformed. You get a better impression | :03:52. | :03:53.
by looking from above. The main entrance for | :03:54. | :03:55.
the current facility is through the Europa Bus Centre | :03:56. | :03:57.
on Great Victoria Street. Those building will be replaced | :03:58. | :04:00.
by new commercial development. The new station will be set further | :04:01. | :04:02.
back, fronting onto Sandy Row and Durham Street, filling | :04:03. | :04:07.
the site which is bounded by the Grosvenor Road | :04:08. | :04:10.
and the Westlink. The idea is to use the station | :04:11. | :04:13.
for wider generation, as has happened with projects | :04:14. | :04:17.
like Kings Cross in central London. Translink's chief | :04:18. | :04:22.
executive says it's The new site will actually double | :04:23. | :04:34.
the capacity for bus and rail transport in Northern Ireland. As | :04:35. | :04:38.
well as that, it is a master plan to regenerate the area around the site | :04:39. | :04:43.
so that we can create jobs and opportunities for people in the | :04:44. | :04:50.
local area. Some enabling works have begun. | :04:51. | :04:52.
Building this will need around ?150m of public money. | :04:53. | :04:54.
The Executive have declared it a flagship infrastructure | :04:55. | :04:56.
project so those funds are likely to be allocated. | :04:57. | :04:59.
Translink also hope to attract private sector partners | :05:00. | :05:01.
for the commercial part of the development. | :05:02. | :05:04.
The preliminary stages of this scheme have involved European money. | :05:05. | :05:07.
And there is hope that more of that will be forthcoming | :05:08. | :05:10.
We hope to get that. We are not dependent on it because we have | :05:11. | :05:23.
other sources of funding but certainly the opportunity of that | :05:24. | :05:25.
being extended would help. The consultation runs | :05:26. | :05:28.
until 2nd December. A planning application will be | :05:29. | :05:30.
submitted next year, with construction expected | :05:31. | :05:32.
to start in 2018. As you heard in John's report, | :05:33. | :05:39.
the public consultation on how the transport hub will work | :05:40. | :05:43.
is now open. Will Leitch has been | :05:44. | :05:46.
to the community right Local people will tell you it needs | :05:47. | :06:09.
regeneration and new opportunities. The question is whether the new hub | :06:10. | :06:11.
will achieve that. Look at the map | :06:12. | :06:12.
of the current plans. platforms and bus parks | :06:13. | :06:14.
and surrounding commercial development, Sandy Row lies a few | :06:15. | :06:17.
dozen yards farther to the south. From a thriving tight-knit | :06:18. | :06:20.
community 50 years ago, it now has its fair share of empty | :06:21. | :06:22.
shops and commercial units, so, for some, the prospect | :06:23. | :06:26.
of a major development right on the doorstep | :06:27. | :06:29.
is an attractive one. Sandy Row is an area that needs some | :06:30. | :06:40.
regeneration. If you look up the street, the regeneration will create | :06:41. | :06:55.
shops and jobs. It has the potential to do a lot of good in the area. | :06:56. | :06:56.
The public consultation started today, urging local people in these | :06:57. | :06:59.
The plans would see the Boyne Bridge removed. | :07:00. | :07:03.
One man says its history means a great deal to local people | :07:04. | :07:05.
and he's urging them to speak to Translink. | :07:06. | :07:19.
There should be a good development on this site without taking away the | :07:20. | :07:26.
bridge. Let us see if that is possible and what can be done. | :07:27. | :07:29.
The public consultation lasts a month, until 2nd December. | :07:30. | :07:31.
All smiles and colour but the competition will be fierce at this | :07:32. | :07:43.
with's all Ireland dancing Championships. | :07:44. | :07:45.
The former south Belfast Assembly Member Anna Lo says she was a victim | :07:46. | :07:48.
The Alliance politician was taking part in a documentary on BBC | :07:49. | :07:54.
Northern Ireland presented by the former Deputy Chief | :07:55. | :07:57.
Ms Lo's former husband Gavin Millar strongly denies her claims. | :07:58. | :08:04.
Anna Lo has reached the quarter and is deemed elected. | :08:05. | :08:18.
Anna Lo became an MLA for the Alliance Party back in 2007 and | :08:19. | :08:24.
served in Stormont until she stood down in 2014. But during her time as | :08:25. | :08:29.
a member of the assembly, Anna Lo claims she was a victim of domestic | :08:30. | :08:35.
violence by her then husband Gavin Millar. | :08:36. | :08:39.
It was more controlling personality compounded by a short fuse and a bad | :08:40. | :08:44.
temper. I left him twice after the results of violence. He was in a bit | :08:45. | :08:55.
of a rage. I jumped out of the car. When he stopped to turn right, I got | :08:56. | :09:04.
out and he turned the car round and then he grabbed me, literally | :09:05. | :09:09.
dragged me to the car and punched me inside the car. | :09:10. | :09:15.
The former Deputy Chief Constable takes a look at a number of domestic | :09:16. | :09:21.
abuse cases and examines whether the laws are tough enough. | :09:22. | :09:25.
I told him that if he ever hit me again I would leave him a game in | :09:26. | :09:32.
November. That was about 16 months after we got married in July 20 ten. | :09:33. | :09:44.
-- 2010. It was almost a light bulb moment for me. There would always be | :09:45. | :09:49.
an excuse to hate me. If I do not leave no my life could be in danger. | :09:50. | :09:56.
Anna Lo did not press charges against her husband. He denies the | :09:57. | :10:02.
claims. The programme goes out tonight on BBC One at 10:45pm. | :10:03. | :10:08.
Fifa has refused permission for the Scotland England soccer | :10:09. | :10:11.
teams to wear poppy armbands during their international | :10:12. | :10:13.
Wales has also asked permission to wear the poppy for their game | :10:14. | :10:17.
Meanwhile the IFA says it has contacted Fifa about an act | :10:18. | :10:23.
of remembrance at Northern Ireland's game at Windsor Park | :10:24. | :10:30.
The Irish Football Association has made it clear that there will be | :10:31. | :10:34.
an act of remembrance at the game on Armistice Day. | :10:35. | :10:37.
However, at this stage it's not clear what that will be. | :10:38. | :10:39.
The arrangements around any Fifa international football match | :10:40. | :10:42.
are tightly controlled by the game's world governing body. | :10:43. | :10:46.
These include a ban on any political, religious or commercial | :10:47. | :10:50.
Fifa protocols become active ten minutes before kick-off, regulating | :10:51. | :10:56.
what happens as the players take to the pitch for the national | :10:57. | :10:59.
anthems, the handshakes, and the coin toss. | :11:00. | :11:13.
The football authorities in England, Scotland and Wales are in contact | :11:14. | :11:15.
with Fifa over having poppies printed on their shirts | :11:16. | :11:17.
for their games around Armistice Day. | :11:18. | :11:23.
The last time a Northern Ireland home international match | :11:24. | :11:25.
fell on the Armistice Day was in 1987 against Turkey. | :11:26. | :11:30.
In a statement this morning, the Irish Football Association said, | :11:31. | :11:45.
The IFA has made clear its commitment to "football for all" | :11:46. | :11:51.
with the aim of making Windsor Park an inclusive stadium for supporters | :11:52. | :12:01.
The act of remembrance in Belfast will be a period | :12:02. | :12:04.
of silent commemoration rather than the wearing of the poppy. | :12:05. | :12:06.
A big conference to discuss the implications of Brexit will be | :12:07. | :12:09.
Among those attending will be politicians from north and south, | :12:10. | :12:12.
representatives from the business organisation, farming | :12:13. | :12:14.
But the DUP and the Ulster Unionist Party won't be there. | :12:15. | :12:20.
Our Dublin correspondent Shane Harrison joins me. | :12:21. | :12:23.
This conference at the Royal Hospital in Kimainham is hosted | :12:24. | :12:25.
by the Irish government - what's the reasoning behind it? | :12:26. | :12:33.
Enda Kenny wants tomorrow's conference to hear from those who | :12:34. | :12:42.
will be affected by the UK's decision to leave the European | :12:43. | :12:45.
Union, to map out the challenges and hear about the impact it is going to | :12:46. | :12:51.
have north and south, especially for Civic Society. You mentioned that | :12:52. | :12:56.
the DUP and the UUP want to be there but the Alliance Party will be there | :12:57. | :13:05.
with Naomi Long and although the DUP's First Minister would be there | :13:06. | :13:09.
she has called the conference a grandstanding exercise. She does | :13:10. | :13:19.
believe that a conference later this month does serve some purpose. | :13:20. | :13:31.
Do we have any indication as to what Dublin may be looking | :13:32. | :13:36.
for in the weeks and months ahead in terms of Brexit negotiations? | :13:37. | :13:43.
The Republic of Ireland is only one of 27 states that the European Union | :13:44. | :13:52.
will be negotiating on behalf but it is the only one that has a land with | :13:53. | :14:01.
the UK. The broader implications for the peace process are of great | :14:02. | :14:04.
concern for the Irish government, as are the travel area and the 1 | :14:05. | :14:13.
billion euros traded between the two states. Despite the fact the EU said | :14:14. | :14:17.
there would be no formal negotiations until article 50 is | :14:18. | :14:21.
triggered, senior sources you have said that senior counterparts from | :14:22. | :14:31.
both sides have met. They have not been involved in negotiations but | :14:32. | :14:35.
they have been exploring and teasing out issues in advance of that. | :14:36. | :14:37.
A key player makes a comeback for Northern Ireland's next World Cup | :14:38. | :14:47.
qualifier. A decision is due soon | :14:48. | :14:49.
on whether to keep top up payments for landowners who farm uplands | :14:50. | :14:52.
and other environmentally The minister concerned has said | :14:53. | :14:55.
keeping them will be challenging Farmers say if support | :14:56. | :15:01.
were to end it might mean Our agriculture and environment | :15:02. | :15:07.
correspondent Conor Macauley has been to find out what that | :15:08. | :15:13.
would mean for those landscapes. Andrew McCammond raises beef cattle | :15:14. | :15:17.
in the Belfast Hills. It's hard to make a living | :15:18. | :15:21.
on ground like this. The costs associated with farming | :15:22. | :15:24.
are higher, so he gets But that's now under threat for him | :15:25. | :15:26.
and 10,000 other farmers in what are known as areas | :15:27. | :15:33.
of natural constraint. Andrew says if the subsidy stops, | :15:34. | :15:37.
he might have to stop too. we not get support in the future, | :15:38. | :15:52.
production levels will drop and it will have a dramatic effect on the | :15:53. | :15:55.
whole agriculture industry. This is not rich land, | :15:56. | :15:56.
but it is productive. Lots of beef calves and breeding | :15:57. | :15:58.
sheep start their lives ?20 million a year has been spent | :15:59. | :16:00.
helping farmers like Andrew, but a decision on whether to | :16:01. | :16:04.
keep the support going Farmers on this kind of ground burn | :16:05. | :16:18.
around ?50 an acre less than their counterparts on better quality | :16:19. | :16:22.
lowland farm so they are at a disadvantage. But a big part of why | :16:23. | :16:27.
these places look the way they do is because of the beneficial impact of | :16:28. | :16:34.
grazing on them. If that was to change... | :16:35. | :16:41.
A very rough pasture taking over from the current graphs so you would | :16:42. | :16:53.
see a change in a few years. There would be changes in wildlife that | :16:54. | :16:55.
would be difficult to get back. A change in support is being | :16:56. | :16:57.
considered because the current scheme isn't considered a good | :16:58. | :16:59.
use of public money. Farmers in areas like this will be | :17:00. | :17:01.
getting extra cash under a redistribution of European | :17:02. | :17:04.
subsidies but they say it won't come close to the ?20 million | :17:05. | :17:07.
currently on offer. So whatever happens next could have | :17:08. | :17:09.
implications for farmers and for those who love the hills | :17:10. | :17:11.
for how they look. The financial problems facing | :17:12. | :17:18.
many of our schools is an issue we've highlighted recently on | :17:19. | :17:22.
BBC Newsline. But could sponsorship deals | :17:23. | :17:24.
be a solution to ever One school in Enniskillen has been | :17:25. | :17:26.
able to buy high tech equipment through a partnership | :17:27. | :17:31.
with a local company. Here's our south west | :17:32. | :17:33.

performer at St Michael's College on a work placement. Three pupils were | :17:46. | :17:52.

partnership with the school that involves sponsoring the technology | :17:59. | :18:04.
and design centre. It has allowed the purchase of high-tech equipment | :18:05. | :18:10.
such as a 3-D printer. It will allow them to use equipment | :18:11. | :18:14.
that they will use in the workforce. It improves their enjoyment and | :18:15. | :18:21.
engagement of the subject. The linkup has impressed the | :18:22. | :18:25.
education minister, who believes it is a model others could follow. | :18:26. | :18:34.
Some of the equipment and the training and also the opportunities | :18:35. | :18:42.

It's highly colourful but it's also highly competitive and, | :20:14. | :20:23.
despite how it looks, it's about much more than costume. | :20:24. | :20:34.
I think some people don't see beyond the dresses and don't understand the | :20:35. | :20:43.
skill level and the arts behind the dancing. These dancers train for | :20:44. | :20:49.
five times a week. The 21st century fashions have gone a little bit | :20:50. | :20:50.
crazy. And clothes like 12-year-old Erin's | :20:51. | :20:56.
really do catch the eye. I got it three weeks ago and my | :20:57. | :21:11.

stay up very late every night to get them done. | :21:16. | :21:17.
Competition here at the Waterfront Hall goes on from dawn to after dark | :21:18. | :21:20.

husband and I. I love the competition aspect and | :21:41. | :21:46.
travelling around the world. Competing against my friends is fun | :21:47. | :21:50.
and you get international friends. That is a bonus. They danced | :21:51. | :21:53.
together and in the same dance school. The same with going to | :21:54. | :21:57.
university. I know there are a lot of Irish dance clubs the states. | :21:58. | :22:00.
The competition continues until Saturday. | :22:01. | :22:01.
The winners will go on to dance in the World Championships next year. | :22:02. | :22:07.
The Northern Ireland football team's next home match is one | :22:08. | :22:09.
It's their latest World Cup Qualifying game and to tell us | :22:10. | :22:17.
Azerbaijan the visitors to Windsor Park on the 11th of this month. | :22:18. | :22:23.
And the big boost for manager Michael O'Neill is the return | :22:24. | :22:26.
of midfielder Chris Brunt after a long term injury. | :22:27. | :22:30.
And fans' favourite Will Grigg, who has yet to feature in this | :22:31. | :22:33.
qualifying campaign, is also back. | :22:34. | :22:34.
Capped 54 times for Northern Ireland, Chris Brunt likes to shy | :22:35. | :22:46.
away from the limelight. But come the visit of Azerbaijan, the focus | :22:47. | :22:52.
will be on the midfielder's return to the international stage. | :22:53. | :22:56.
It is massive for us to have Chris back. We missed him obviously in | :22:57. | :23:01.
France. A player that has played his whole career at the top level of | :23:02. | :23:07.
English football. We are not blessed with many left-sided players in our | :23:08. | :23:11.
squad that are available to us saw him being back is a big plus. Not | :23:12. | :23:19.
only with his experience but the quality he brings. | :23:20. | :23:21.
Chris Brunt hasn't worn the green shirt for 11 months and isn't the | :23:22. | :23:24.
only one who has been on the sidelines. | :23:25. | :23:34.
Fans' favourite Will Grigg is back in the plans. His last game was the | :23:35. | :23:47.
final warm up match for last summer's European Championships. | :23:48. | :23:54.
Every time we put those players who are not starting players for us on | :23:55. | :23:58.
the pitch they give us something. That applies to well and everybody | :23:59. | :24:03.
else who does not start a game. When they get that opportunity they get | :24:04. | :24:07.
that opportunity and nail down a place in the starting 11. | :24:08. | :24:10.
A win against Azerbaijan will take Northern Ireland to second in the | :24:11. | :24:15.
group but, with opposition yet as can -- with opposition sit to | :24:16. | :24:21.
consider goal in this group, Chris Brunt could provide some welcome | :24:22. | :24:22.
firepower. Brendan Rodgers says his Celtic side | :24:23. | :24:23.
must win tonight in their vital Champions League group match | :24:24. | :24:26.
against Borussia Monchengladbach. The Germans won 2-0 in Glasgow two | :24:27. | :24:28.
weeks ago and Rodgers has admitted that his team need a victory to keep | :24:29. | :24:31.
hopes of progressing We are playing to win. That is the | :24:32. | :24:46.
key focus to us. We are not playing not to lose, we go in to win. In | :24:47. | :24:52.
order Frost to compete at this moment at this level, we need to | :24:53. | :24:58.
have our a game and there is no doubt that in the last game they | :24:59. | :24:59.
were better than us. Peterborough United striker | :25:00. | :25:00.
Joe Gormley has quit professional The club's director of football | :25:01. | :25:02.
Barry Fry has said today Gormley was "disillusioned" with the sport | :25:03. | :25:06.
but was now seeking to return The weather is next | :25:07. | :25:09.
with Cecilia Daly. Great start to the new month. | :25:10. | :25:29.
Temperatures are already five or 6 degrees so it will be chilly | :25:30. | :25:35.
tonight. Beautiful son to start but clear skies mean a cold night. It | :25:36. | :25:44.
has been a dry month in October, the driest in Northern Ireland since -- | :25:45. | :25:53.
for 23 years. We have had that easterly wind for most of October. | :25:54. | :25:57.
One or two showers around the coast but mainly dry tonight. Temperatures | :25:58. | :26:02.
will continue to fall, lower than what you see on the map, below | :26:03. | :26:08.
freezing in some spots. Good news if you're still off for school holidays | :26:09. | :26:12.
because it will be a dry and bright day and there will be lovely such a | :26:13. | :26:17.
degree during the morning. Still that chilly northerly breeze you | :26:18. | :26:19.
will need to wrap up going to the parks tomorrow. The best of the | :26:20. | :26:27.
sunshine across eastern counties. Temperatures Bang on average for | :26:28. | :26:29.
this time of year. There will be an increase in cloud across western | :26:30. | :26:33.
counties but it will stay dry. Eventually that global bring spots | :26:34. | :26:39.
of rain to the west tomorrow night -- that cloud. Temperatures won't | :26:40. | :26:44.
get as low tomorrow night because cloud will continue to come in from | :26:45. | :26:49.
the rest and that should mean that most places are frost free on | :26:50. | :26:54.
Wednesday night, Thursday morning. This weather band comes in from the | :26:55. | :27:02.
west on Thursday. It is a cold front coming through on Thursday and that | :27:03. | :27:07.
means they are behind it gets even colder, yes Calder, as we head | :27:08. | :27:13.
towards the weekend. It is coming somewhere close from the Arctic so | :27:14. | :27:17.
cold easterly winds developing towards the weekend. For the rest of | :27:18. | :27:24.
the week, rain on Thursday see will have to think of indoor activities. | :27:25. | :27:27.
The mixture of sunshine and scattered showers on Friday and | :27:28. | :27:30.
Saturday and temperatures are not getting any higher swipe suspect we | :27:31. | :27:34.
will be looking for the gloves if you haven't got them already as we | :27:35. | :27:37.
get to the weekend. You can also keep in contact with us | :27:38. | :27:42.
via Facebook and Twitter. | :27:43. | :27:47. |
