Young farmers from across the country are descending on the

Somerset Levels this weekend to help put flooded farms back into some

sort of working order. Thousands of acres of farmland were flooded for

weeks earlier this year. Now, as the fields dry up, the full extdnt of

the damage can be measured. But farmers fear it could take `nother

year before the land is productive again.

Weston Super Mare beach could be closed for bathing next year, after

the EU agreed tougher rules on water quality. The Environment Agdncy has

published a list of beaches that are at risk and don't comply with the

new rules regarding sewage levels. It's believed current regul`tions

aren't stringent enough and swimmers are running the risk of picking up

bugs and infections from thd sea. Tourism bosses fear if Weston

doesn't clean up its water by next year, the impact on visitor numbers

could be huge. A bell from a First World W`r German

battleship is due to be auctioned today, after being used as ` garden

ornament in Bristol for years. It belonged to the SMS Grosser Kurfurs,

which attacked the towns of Hartlepool and Scarborough hn 1 14.

The ship itself was sunk after the war but was raised for scrap in

1938. The bell will be aucthoned in Southampton this afternoon.

Bristol Rovers are up to 17th in League Two after a 0`0 draw against

Southend last night. They ldap frog three teams despite drawing at the

Memorial Stadium. Steve Mildenhall made impressive saves in thd second

half to help Rovers move five points clear of the drop zone. John`Joe

O'Toole had two chances to win it for the hosts, but both headers were

kept out by Bentley. This afternoon, Yeovil Town host

million was raised during l`st night's Sport Relief show, from the

Olympic Park in East London. Stars including David Beckham, Andy

Murray, and Miranda Hart took part. A team of eight swimmers from BBC

Somerset swam a total of ten kilometres at Millfield School last
