Good evening. Avon and Somerset Police has

announced it's closing 27 police stations. The chief constable says

he has to, because of budget cuts. The changes will affect comlunities

right across the area, from Avonmouth to Minehead. But `t the

same time three big police centres are to open, as Clinton Rogdrs

reports. 150 years of history will come to an

end when they close Williton Police Station in West Somerset. Pdople

need security, it is always nice to have it close to hand. When they

close the crime level will go up. It is not just rural communitids like

this that will be affected. This document shows just about every

corner of the force will be affected as the police try to reduce their

number of buildings by a thhrd. Cities and larger towns don't escape

the changes. In Bristol Brislington and Bishopsworth will lose their

stations. Weaston Police St`tion will close so too Shepton M`llet,

both will see police officers operating out of council buhldings.

All of this comes on a day when Avon and Somerset were unveiling the 21st

century face of policing, showing off this ?20 million police centre

in Bridgwater when it's finhshed in the summer 600 people will work from

here. Well it's newer, but hs it better for the public?

Yes. We are using technologx, some of our buildings are really

decrepit. Some are listed, some are just so old`fashioned we cannot we

have got to move on to stop they are where people want them. That is not

true. People are not using some of the buildings we have got. The

public not visiting them. Three new centres like this are

being built, the others are at Keynsham and Patchway. Key to them

all is the new custody suitds where anyone arrested will be takdn day

and night. Nine smaller custody suites dotted around the arda will

Tributes have been paid to ` teenager from Bristol who dhed in

the jungle in Colombia. Henry Miller's body was found abandoned by

the side of the road. He'd been taking a hallucinogenic drug during

a tribal ritual. Fiona Lamdhn reports. These are some of the last

tribal ceremony deep in the rainforest, about to take a

hallucinogenic drug which whll cost him his life. I am from England my

the drink in just two days. The first time he felt nothing, but on

Tuesday when trying it again he became seriously ill. So ill the

police say two local men took him to hospital but en route Henry Miller

died, the young men panicked leaving him on the side of the road. So far

these men have been questioned but not arrested. Back in Bristol this

is where he spent the last seven years of his education. He stayed on

for six form where he studidd English, history and art A`level. He

was a really nice guy. A few years below him that whenever he saw me

outside of school he would come and chill out, the great role model He

would try and scope of this, he wasn't very good, but he trhed to

The inquest has started into the death of a sailor who fell hnto the

Royal Portbury Dock in Bristol. Gerardo Tonogbanua died in 2011 He

was taking part in a safety drill involving a ship's rescue boat. A

winch holding the boat faildd and it fell 29 metres from the top deck

into the water below. The inquest is expected to last all week.

The row over where the new Bishop of Bath and Wells should live, took a

new turn today as a special team arrived in Wells, to examind the

matter for themselves. The Archbishops' Council is there to

decide whether the new Bishop should follow tradition and continte to

live in the Bishop's Palace, or whether he should be moved to a

house in a nearby village. The hearing continues tomorrow `nd a

Good evening. Still a few showers to clear away during the coursd of the

night. Tomorrow will see generally less in the wake of showers around.

Hello, I am going to throw some numbers at you first of all. 22

Celsius was the temperature recorded at Aviemore making it the warmest
