Good evening. A jury has heard how four miners

died when the Gleision Colliery in the Swansea Valley flooded three

years ago. Their manager, Malcolm Fyfield, who escaped from the mine,

is accused of causing their deaths through gross negligence. Swansea

Crown Court heard evidence he tried to revive two of the men before

finding a way to the surface. The 58-year-old denies all charges and

the mine owners deny corporate manslaughter. Cemlyn Davies reports.

The 15th of September 2011, and rescuers work frantically at

company-macro hoping to save the lives of four men trapped inside.

Their efforts were in vain, Charles resident, Gary Hill, all died after

water filled the area where they were working 275 metres into the

mountain. The pit manager was mining alongside the men that morning, but

he managed to escape. He arrived at court today accompanied by his wife.

The two sat together as a jury was told that he suffers with severe

post-traumatic stress disorder. Most of the families filled the public

gallery in the hope of finding out why their loved ones left for work

one morning but never came home. They sat and listened as the

prosecution explain how one minor, who managed to escape by crawling

along a conveyor belt heard an explosion which sounded like a jet

engine. He was told to run and then he said he had a deafening sound of

rushing water. When Gleision Colliery emerged, he was shaking and

cold and told rescuers they were gone. He told police he tried to

resuscitate two of the men in the mind, but there was no response, no

sign of life. The postmortem heard the postmortem examinations found

the four men drowned as a result of drowning. Sat a short distance away

with this lady and her brother, the direct is of the mine company. The

company faces four counts of corporate manslaughter by failing to

ensure there was a safe system of work in place. How did this happen?

How could such a tragedy have occurred? Those are the questions

the families will want and said over the coming weeks and months. Malcolm

Fyfield and the company denied all the charges under trial is expected

to last until end of June. The family of missing Newport

teenager Nida Naseer have been told about the discovery of a body in

Newport. Gwent Police were called to the wetlands site in the city this

morning. The body has yet to be identified. Paul Heaney reports.

A tranquil, picturesque part of Newport, disturbed today by police

vans. A small part of the scenic walk here cordoned off. Police

arrived here at 10.00am after a report that a body had been found

here. It's three months, almost to the day that Nida Naseer left her

family home just a few miles from here. The body today hasn't yet been

identified but Nida's family have been told. 19-year-old Nida Naseer

left her family home here in Pill, Newport three days after Christmas

to put rubbish out and she hasn't been seen since. Her sister says she

was depressed because the family's asylum claim had been turned down,

meaning Nida couldn't apply to university here. Just two days ago,

Nida father told Wales Today he felt there was something stopping his

daughter getting in touch with him. Police say they are treating the

discovery of a body at the Westlands as unexplained and a postmortem will

be carried out. The beauty of this part of Newport tarnished a little

this evening by a tragic discovery. Police forces across Wales and

England are facing criticism for the way they handle domestic violence

cases. Her Majesty's Inspectorate Constabulary, the police watchdog,

says the overall response to domestic abuse is not good enough

and raises specific concerns with two Welsh forces. Gwent Police says

it's working hard to make necessary changes, while North Wales Police

says it will improve the awareness and response of officers.

Campaigners trying to stop the building of a waste incinerator in

Cardiff have lost their High Court challenge. The City Council was

found to have acted lawfully in approving plans for the site near

Splott, where the company Viridor has already started work on the

project. The Cardiff Against the Incinerator group says it will

appeal the decision. A ?300 million deal to buy one of

Pembrokeshire's oil refineries looks set to be completed in the next few

weeks. The owners of the Mucro Refinery have been looking to sell

the site for more than three years. The new owners will be a private

equity firm as Abigail Neal reports. They process 135,000 barrels of oil

here every day but with falling profits, the last few years have

been an anxious time for workers at the Murco refinery in Milford Haven.

Now the comapny's American owners are reported to be close to signing

a deal with a London-based private equity fund called Greybull Capital.

It's thought to be worth ?300 million and includes the sale of the

plant along with Murco's 400 petrol stations. Murco have been looking to

find a buyer for the refinery in Milford Haven for more than three

years now. This proposed sale to a private equity fund will secure the

450 jobs here at least in the short-term but there are concerns

tonight about what the longer-term ambitions of a new buyer could be.

It is the nature of a private equity fund which has made some business

leaders nervous about today's news. What we want guarantees that the

plant will remain open and the future for the employees and all the

contractors and supply chain. It is very important Pembrokeshire and

Milford Haven itself. There is a refinery that's opened in the

southern part of India which produces more than all of ours put

together in the UK and that is an export refinery. These super

refineries are starting to take over. In Europe, we are going to

find it increasingly challenging to justify keeping the ones we have.

Although small, the Murco site has been upgraded in recent years which

could count in its favour in terms of assets. The deal with the new

owners is expected to be signed next month.

The boss of the Football Association of Wales has welcomed a new

competition designed to replace most international friendlies. UEFA has

given the go-ahead for the League of Nations competition to begin in four

years' time. Final details of the format have not been decided, but

Jonathan Ford has said the FAW wants discussions to continue.

Now the weather. Hello again. It has been chilly

today with a mixture of sunshine and showers but good news for the

weekend, it will be warmer. Tonight, a few showers and rain for a time in

the North, otherwise plenty of dry weather and a few more showers late

in the night. A touch of frost in places. Tomorrow will ring bright

intervals and showers. The North is dry in the morning but showers

likely in parts of the South and West. These could be happy in

places. Across the rest of the UK, rain for Northern England. A few

showers in Northern Ireland. Brighter further south but heavy

showers for the West Country and south Wales. Sunshine for western

Scotland. The north-east, cloudy with spots of light rain and

drizzle. A cool breeze tomorrow with a top temperature in London of 15

Celsius. A real mix in Wales tomorrow afternoon. Showers, heavy

in places with dry and London -- hail and thunder. Up till 11 Celsius

with a cool, easterly breeze. Rain and showers spreading northwards

tomorrow night but most of the country should end on a dry note and

not as cold as recent nights. Into Saturday, a change on the way. Rain

in the West for a time but the whole country becoming dry and brighter

with hazy sunshine. Warmer on Saturday, up to 16 Celsius. There is

more dry and brighter weather to come on Sunday. There's cold snap is

on its last legs and it will feel more like spring again over the
