brightness between the clouds. The outlook is mixed. Thank

:00:00.:00:00.

Welcome to Wales Today. Today, the proposals to improve the health of

:00:00.:00:10.

the nation. Electronic cigarettes could be banned in enclosed public

:00:11.:00:13.

places although thousands of people say they've helped them stop

:00:14.:00:15.

smoking. A minimum price of alcohol could

:00:16.:00:19.

also be introduced. Tonight, the Welsh Government says it is a

:00:20.:00:27.

radical step forward. We are confident today marks the day when

:00:28.:00:31.

people look back on it, they will say this was a really important step

:00:32.:00:35.

forward in that great Welsh radical public-health tradition in

:00:36.:00:39.

safeguarding the health of the Welsh nation for the future.

:00:40.:00:51.

Also tonight: Former Visteon workers have fought for five years to win

:00:52.:00:56.

compensation. Finally, a deal is reached said to be worth millions of

:00:57.:01:00.

pounds. Are children in Wales waiting too

:01:01.:01:03.

long for psychiatric services? Claims tonight their plight being

:01:04.:01:07.

ignored. And after a battle against cancer

:01:08.:01:11.

he's back in the game. Matthew Rees tells us how he got through the dark

:01:12.:01:17.

days. My family have been very supportive

:01:18.:01:22.

of the way through this. I have got a young daughter. To be seen her,

:01:23.:01:26.

when I was going through the treatment, on a daily basis, it is a

:01:27.:01:32.

fight. Good evening. Wales could become the

:01:33.:01:36.

only part of the UK to restrict the use of electronic cigarettes in

:01:37.:01:39.

confined public places under plans put forward by the Welsh Government.

:01:40.:01:44.

There would also be minimum price for alcohol. The Health Minister

:01:45.:01:48.

says it's part of a radical package of proposals to improve public

:01:49.:01:51.

health but critics claim the move to restrict e-cigarette use could be

:01:52.:01:56.

misguided. Here's our health correspondent Owain Clarke.

:01:57.:02:04.

Enjoying a Perth over a cup of tea. Don't be fooled, this Cathy isn't

:02:05.:02:10.

breaking the smoking ban. This is an smoke, it is vapour and these are LH

:02:11.:02:15.

on. E-cigarettes as you can see coming all shapes and sizes. The

:02:16.:02:22.

idea is that by inhaling a VP at people can still get their fix of

:02:23.:02:26.

nicotine but without being exposed to some of the toxins or poisons

:02:27.:02:33.

present in normal cigarette smoke. It is a business that is growing

:02:34.:02:39.

rapidly. What is the appeal? BC hundreds of customers coming in

:02:40.:02:42.

every week. They are becoming so popular. I used to smoke about 25 a

:02:43.:02:50.

day, super Kings. Since I have started these, 15 months ago, I

:02:51.:02:57.

haven't smoked a cigarette. If the Welsh Government had its way this

:02:58.:03:02.

place would have to close, but why? It argues e-cigarettes normalise

:03:03.:03:04.

smoking making it appear acceptable. It claims research from

:03:05.:03:08.

the United States suggests more young people are trying them. If

:03:09.:03:12.

they become addicted they could move on to real cigarettes. It argues

:03:13.:03:22.

that the evidence is limited. Others challenge those claims. The number

:03:23.:03:28.

of studies show people are using them as effective aids to quit

:03:29.:03:32.

smoking. The studies that are available don't suggest that

:03:33.:03:36.

e-cigarettes at the news that some sort of gateway where you start

:03:37.:03:39.

using them and end of smoking tobacco. Beyond restricting

:03:40.:03:44.

e-cigarettes the government was to introduce food standards for

:03:45.:03:48.

nurseries and care homes. They will force councils to open more public

:03:49.:03:52.

toilets and have registers of tobacco sellers and tattoos

:03:53.:03:58.

parlours. It wants to set a minimum price for alcohol, 50p a unit which

:03:59.:04:03.

would mean a can of strong lager couldn't be sold for less than ?1

:04:04.:04:09.

50. We're having 30,000 bed days every year blocked due to problems

:04:10.:04:16.

with alcohol. This is an epidemic. To tackle that we need drastic

:04:17.:04:22.

measures. One of those should be minimum pricing. Are these

:04:23.:04:29.

international students currently studying in Cardiff convinced? If

:04:30.:04:34.

students want to go out, they still drink. They still find to alcohol.

:04:35.:04:41.

You do to have fun, become more social. You are still going to buy

:04:42.:04:45.

it if that is what you want. It isn't only the students who are

:04:46.:04:49.

likely to give the minimum price plan hostile reception. Launching

:04:50.:04:54.

his proposals, the health minister admitted he is likely to face a

:04:55.:04:57.

challenge from the drinks industry. He could also face an even bigger

:04:58.:05:02.

hurdle, the UK Government has claimed he hasn't got the power to

:05:03.:05:05.

set a minimum price in the first place. I am quite sure there will be

:05:06.:05:10.

pushed back from the alcohol industry as the husband in Scotland.

:05:11.:05:15.

We can't necessarily prevent others from challenging our powers through

:05:16.:05:23.

the courts. Maybe the UK Government. You could describe them as

:05:24.:05:27.

trigger-happy in wanting to do that, to take legislation passed the

:05:28.:05:30.

National Assembly to the Supreme Court. We're confident of our

:05:31.:05:37.

ground. In the end, the health minister IDs improving people 's

:05:38.:05:39.

health is one of the most powerful things a government can do. Here in

:05:40.:05:44.

Carmarthen they argue the new law, at least in one respect, as have the

:05:45.:05:49.

opposite effect. Clamping down on e-cigarettes, they claim, could

:05:50.:05:54.

stigmatise the people trying hard to turn their back on tobacco.

:05:55.:05:58.

A little earlier I spoke to the Chief Medical Officer Dr Ruth

:05:59.:06:01.

Hussey. I began by asking her whether there was any evidence to

:06:02.:06:04.

show that banning e-cigarettes will improve public health.

:06:05.:06:11.

Our concern is that the growth, the rapid growth in the use of

:06:12.:06:15.

e-cigarettes runs the risk of three normal eyes in smoking, making it

:06:16.:06:21.

more common. -- pre-normalising the stop the consequence is that a lead

:06:22.:06:25.

into an expectation this could be a gateway into conventional smoking.

:06:26.:06:32.

It becomes more familiar to people. But there is no evidence that it

:06:33.:06:37.

will improve public health. The argument is that we have made huge

:06:38.:06:43.

strides in the last seven years since smoking was banned in public

:06:44.:06:46.

places here in Wales, we have made huge strides in reducing the

:06:47.:06:54.

evidence of smoking around as. The concern is we are seeing much more

:06:55.:07:02.

frequent use of e-cigarettes in public places. The challenge is to

:07:03.:07:07.

people who are concerned, to implement restrictions, they are

:07:08.:07:13.

hard -- finding it hard to tell the difference. Many people say they

:07:14.:07:16.

don't know. They don't want e-cigarettes. We do know this,

:07:17.:07:25.

University College of London and Cancer research UK both save the

:07:26.:07:27.

list are clear connection between the use of e-cigarettes and the

:07:28.:07:32.

uptake of normal smoking. Could you be creating a problem? What we are

:07:33.:07:40.

concerned about, this is emerging evidence day by day, our knowledge

:07:41.:07:45.

about these products is we are seeing young people using them. They

:07:46.:07:52.

don't know that is nicotine in them. In a sense, this is a precautionary

:07:53.:07:57.

approach. This is uncharted territory in terms of the detailed

:07:58.:08:01.

long-term evidence and follow-up of these because they are such new

:08:02.:08:04.

products. Our consultation is a consultation. It is a question in

:08:05.:08:09.

terms should we take this that? Would this help in making sure

:08:10.:08:13.

smoking is not normalised again? The Chief Medical Officer Ruth

:08:14.:08:16.

Hussey talking to me earlier. Our health correspondent Owain Clarke is

:08:17.:08:22.

at a pub in Cardiff tonight. What is your take on the Welsh

:08:23.:08:26.

Government health plans? This perk which is a favourite haunts of

:08:27.:08:33.

students is the head of the game. It is already banning the cigarettes.

:08:34.:08:37.

If you want to smoke then we have to go outside with the smokers. But I

:08:38.:08:41.

think there will be a lot of debate here tonight about the pros and cons

:08:42.:08:45.

of the Welsh Government's proposals. The main debate as you mentioned

:08:46.:08:50.

earlier is about the evidence and stop the Welsh Government claims

:08:51.:08:54.

e-cigarettes can be a gateway to proper tobacco smoking. A study

:08:55.:08:58.

published this month by the University of Leicester says the use

:08:59.:09:04.

of e-cigarettes by individuals would never smoked is extremely rare. The

:09:05.:09:09.

other debates would be about minimum alcohol price, has the Welsh

:09:10.:09:11.

Government got the power to do that? The wealth -- Welsh health

:09:12.:09:16.

minister thinks he has got the power. He wanted to go much further.

:09:17.:09:24.

He wanted to place restrictions on fast food outlets, for example, but

:09:25.:09:29.

found he didn't have the to do that. He is confident he has the power to

:09:30.:09:32.

introduce a minimum price on alcohol. But this is consultation.

:09:33.:09:39.

If you believe this is a nanny state in action you can have your say. If

:09:40.:09:43.

you believe these are sensible puzzles, you can also have your say.

:09:44.:09:47.

-- proposals. Hundreds of workers at the former

:09:48.:09:50.

Visteon car parts factory in Swansea are being offered compensation after

:09:51.:09:54.

the value of their pensions was slashed. The Ford motor company,

:09:55.:09:57.

which formerly owned Visteon, and the union Unite said they had agreed

:09:58.:10:00.

a settlement. It follows years of campaigning by the pensioners, who

:10:01.:10:03.

took their case to parliament today. David Cornock reports.

:10:04.:10:12.

This is a moral victory. I hope we're going to good news. We have

:10:13.:10:19.

got our fingers crossed. Back to Westminster, this time with a spring

:10:20.:10:23.

in their step. Car parked workers who felt cheated out of their

:10:24.:10:27.

pensions when Visteon went bust five years ago. Its owner, Ford, denied

:10:28.:10:32.

any liability. The workers took liability for the bash legal action.

:10:33.:10:43.

-- the workers took legal action. I lost 40% of my pension and as a

:10:44.:10:47.

result my standard of living has gone down considerably. What

:10:48.:10:52.

difference do you hope today's deal will make? I hope to have some for

:10:53.:10:58.

that form of compensation for the many I have lost. John won't get

:10:59.:11:05.

back everything he lost that the deal is said to be worth millions of

:11:06.:11:12.

pounds shared between 1200 workers. It is important is pensioner

:11:13.:11:17.

understands how much many they get. Everybody will get something. If

:11:18.:11:20.

there is a court case, all pensioners may not get a pay-out. It

:11:21.:11:26.

is for them to decide. Inside the House of Commons, the deal was

:11:27.:11:31.

welcomed across political parties. This is a good development for

:11:32.:11:34.

pensioners and all those who played a role. Colleagues all sides of the

:11:35.:11:39.

house have been involved in this. They should be credited with the

:11:40.:11:42.

work they have done with Ford. Outside, the mood was unusually

:11:43.:11:47.

buoyant. For years, these pensioners have been travelling from Wales to

:11:48.:11:52.

Westminster to put political pressure on the Ford motor company.

:11:53.:11:56.

They hope today's deal means it will never have to come here again. The

:11:57.:12:02.

deal needs the approval of 95% of pensioners. Ford said the agreements

:12:03.:12:06.

were settled the legal claims made against the company but the details

:12:07.:12:08.

were confidential. An inquest into the death of a

:12:09.:12:11.

Newport teenager, who went missing in December last year, has been

:12:12.:12:14.

opened and adjourned. Nida Naseer's body was found at the Wetlands area

:12:15.:12:18.

of the city last month. The coroner said the cause of death has not yet

:12:19.:12:22.

been determined. The inquest has been adjourned for six weeks.

:12:23.:12:25.

Two teaching unions have asked that pupils be allowed to re-sit the

:12:26.:12:28.

controversial English Language GCSE this summer without any extra cost

:12:29.:12:31.

to their schools. A review by the Welsh Government found there were a

:12:32.:12:35.

number of reasons why thousands of pupils here received "unexpectedly

:12:36.:12:38.

low" grades but ruled out paying for re-sits.

:12:39.:12:44.

It was as if they had drawn up a battle line. That's how a doctor

:12:45.:12:46.

described the relationship between the family of a dying teenager and

:12:47.:12:50.

the director of care at Ty Hafan's children hospice today. Jayne

:12:51.:12:53.

Saunders faces claims of professional misconduct over the way

:12:54.:12:56.

she dealt with the girl named only as S at the hearing of the Nursing

:12:57.:13:01.

and Midwifery Council. She denies all the allegations. Caroline Evans

:13:02.:13:09.

was at the hearing. What was the background to this case?

:13:10.:13:13.

Ty Hafan just outside Cardiff was established about 15 years ago. This

:13:14.:13:18.

case goes back to 2008 and relates a 14-year-old girl with leukaemia and

:13:19.:13:21.

how she was treated by the director of care, Jayne Saunders. The dispute

:13:22.:13:24.

began when her mother noticed a red mark on the girl's body and reported

:13:25.:13:30.

it to staff. The allegations are that Jayne Saunders, seen here in

:13:31.:13:33.

green meeting Prince Charles, told the family child S would have to be

:13:34.:13:37.

regularly examined by members of the care team if she was to stay at the

:13:38.:13:41.

hospice, that she failed to ensure that the child was giving informed

:13:42.:13:44.

consent to examinations, and that she failed to ensure that only a

:13:45.:13:51.

qualified nurse examined her. She also accused of giving insufficient

:13:52.:13:54.

consideration to the child's feelings when she asked to have a

:13:55.:13:58.

sleep over at Ty Hafan. What was said at the hearing today? We heard

:13:59.:14:03.

from a specialist doctor there who said it was Mrs Saunders' general

:14:04.:14:06.

approach to say no to things and then go away and consider it. He

:14:07.:14:11.

said it was her job to keep Ty Hafan safe but that she and the family

:14:12.:14:16.

seemed to view each other as on the opposites sides of a battle line.

:14:17.:14:20.

Asked about the family he said, they were intelligent analytical people,

:14:21.:14:23.

going through a very difficult time and their emotion would sometimes

:14:24.:14:34.

surface unexpectedly. With me, they were courteous, he said, but I have

:14:35.:14:39.

is from others who were not doctors who said they were not treated with

:14:40.:14:42.

the same courtesy. The case is expected to continue until the end

:14:43.:14:45.

of April. He's responsible for looking into

:14:46.:14:48.

complaints about public services in Wales and is independent of

:14:49.:14:50.

government. Today, Nick Bennett's appointment as the new Public

:14:51.:14:53.

Services Ombudsmen was approved by the National Assembly. He says he

:14:54.:14:56.

hopes to help drive improvement in public services here.

:14:57.:14:58.

The growing problem of children waiting for psychiatric services in

:14:59.:15:01.

Wales is being ignored by ministers, it has been claimed. The number

:15:02.:15:05.

waiting more than 14 weeks has soared in the past year. Ongoing

:15:06.:15:08.

problems with mental health services in Wales were previously highlighted

:15:09.:15:12.

in a report last year. Here's our political reporter James Williams.

:15:13.:15:19.

Amanda Jones's certain a few years ago. He was diagnosed with

:15:20.:15:26.

Asperger's last November that they will have to wait six months for a

:15:27.:15:31.

psychiatrist appointment. It has left a lot of people down. I joined

:15:32.:15:36.

a small group. Most of the people in the group have had similar dealings

:15:37.:15:40.

with not getting the support they need to help their children.

:15:41.:15:45.

Amanda's certain is one of a growing number of children and young people

:15:46.:15:48.

waiting longest foray psychiatrist appointment. There were 139 waiting

:15:49.:15:55.

more than 14 weeks and the numbers wavers slightly before rising

:15:56.:15:58.

dramatically from November of that year to the highest point in January

:15:59.:16:01.

of this year. The latest available figures show 736 are now awaiting

:16:02.:16:08.

the longest for an appointment. It has led to more work for this child

:16:09.:16:14.

psychiatrist. She works privately. Long way to the public sector and

:16:15.:16:18.

increasing demand for the services. My experience is there has been an

:16:19.:16:24.

increase. But there has always been delay in being able to assess

:16:25.:16:27.

children appropriately for mental health problems. Child health

:16:28.:16:34.

experts recently told BBC Wales the service which treats children and

:16:35.:16:36.

young people with mental illness is in a state of crisis. Opinions

:16:37.:16:41.

rejected by the Welsh Government which is prioritising tackling

:16:42.:16:46.

waiting times in its improvement plan. But the service is the subject

:16:47.:16:51.

of an Assembly committee enquiry and was raised by the Liberal Democrats

:16:52.:16:57.

today. As we have seen this so many Welsh Government strategy the words

:16:58.:17:00.

on the paper are fine. But when it comes to action the Welsh Government

:17:01.:17:06.

wealth -- let's people down. It is a feeling shared by Amanda as she

:17:07.:17:10.

continues what she calls her battle against the system.

:17:11.:17:12.

Still to come tonight: Bridge over the Dwyryd estuary. Why renovation

:17:13.:17:15.

work is causing problems for local people.

:17:16.:17:23.

The BBC has been accused of making "elementary errors" when it comes to

:17:24.:17:26.

covering matters that are devolved to Wales. The comments were made

:17:27.:17:30.

during the director general's appearance before Assembly Members

:17:31.:17:33.

this morning. Our arts and media correspondent, Huw Thomas was

:17:34.:17:39.

watching proceedings. What happened? Today, it was the way

:17:40.:17:47.

Wales 's portrait of BBC programmes that are made in London such as News

:17:48.:17:51.

at ten that was top of the agenda when the director general appeared

:17:52.:17:56.

before committee at the Assembly. A specific example was raised. It was

:17:57.:18:02.

a decision to hold question Time in Newport without any Assembly Members

:18:03.:18:06.

on it. There was barely a mention of Wales. When a topic map to link to

:18:07.:18:12.

Wales was mentioned the wealth health service was the topic and

:18:13.:18:18.

cause the shadow minister to struggle with it. There are clearly

:18:19.:18:23.

issues on the Welsh Government is dealing with that. I don't want to

:18:24.:18:33.

be unkind but I know bits more about the Welsh health service than you

:18:34.:18:38.

do. I say that with a despite. What did Tony SOP -- Tony Hall have to

:18:39.:18:46.

say about that? It said the way West in time selects its panel will be

:18:47.:18:54.

looked at. Rosemary Butler said that the programmes the BBC makes in

:18:55.:18:58.

London has struggled with the fundamental differences of

:18:59.:19:02.

devolution. She said the coverage can sometimes leave Welsh viewers

:19:03.:19:07.

feeling short-changed. Tony Hall said the way to address all of these

:19:08.:19:11.

concerns was to persist and explain devolution to BBC staff. We have got

:19:12.:19:17.

to keep on working, using the strengths we have got in Wales to

:19:18.:19:24.

work closely with London. We need to improve the sensitivity, accuracy of

:19:25.:19:31.

what we do and whilst recognising this is changing all the time. Tony

:19:32.:19:36.

Hall reiterated this morning a point he made in a speech last night. That

:19:37.:19:41.

was English-language television programmes have been in decline in

:19:42.:19:46.

Wales for around a decade. He said it was right BBC Wales has

:19:47.:19:48.

prioritised news and current affairs when budgets were tied but he wanted

:19:49.:19:53.

to start a discussion about how Welsh culture can be better

:19:54.:19:57.

deflected on BBC programmes in fault -- in future.

:19:58.:19:59.

People living in the Penrhyndeudraeth area are expected

:20:00.:20:02.

to use a public meeting tonight to voice their concerns about a

:20:03.:20:06.

decision to scrap plans to build a temporary bridge across the Dwyryd

:20:07.:20:09.

estuary while an old bridge there is being replaced. A diversion adds 16

:20:10.:20:13.

miles to an around trip. Work on the new bridge at Briwet is expected to

:20:14.:20:17.

last until the end of the year. Gwynedd Council says it's taken the

:20:18.:20:19.

decision to improve safety. Here's Roger Pinney.

:20:20.:20:26.

It is hardly a major lose but if you live, work or holiday here replacing

:20:27.:20:32.

the Briwet Bridge matters. But that is now a longest detour. That is no

:20:33.:20:38.

doubt this diversion is an inconvenience even for somebody like

:20:39.:20:41.

me who has to do its very occasionally. There are those who

:20:42.:20:44.

have to make the journey every single day. Let's see what problems

:20:45.:20:49.

they face. This is the main route south to places like Harlech. France

Penrhyndeudraeth, the D2 takes a East to a crossing then there is an

:21:00.:21:06.

narrow winding roads back along the southern bank. Finally, you get to

:21:07.:21:09.

the other side of the Briwet Bridge. And to end them make that has built

:21:10.:21:15.

eight miles and it has taken me 20 minutes. Traffic today was light. A

:21:16.:21:21.

temporary bridge seemed the obvious answer but Gwynedd Council decided

:21:22.:21:25.

to spend the money on another local concern. Putting traffic management

:21:26.:21:29.

on a narrow stretch of road close to the southern end of the bridge where

:21:30.:21:33.

construction vehicles are making driving difficult and in some

:21:34.:21:37.

peoples eyes, dangerous. I live halfway up the mountain. This man

:21:38.:21:44.

lives on one side and works of the ever. It is a former attorney before

:21:45.:21:52.

that which was maybe 15 minutes. But now it is a 45 minute journey. At

:21:53.:22:02.

Gwynedd Council, the few caught between two stools. People have come

:22:03.:22:08.

to us initially saying the situation on the road was a fatality waiting

:22:09.:22:14.

to happen. We are dammed if we do and dammed if we do. I am confident

:22:15.:22:19.

we have made the right decision. A question of road safety or

:22:20.:22:23.

convenience? At Gwynedd council they say the new bridge will be completed

:22:24.:22:25.

soon. An exercise, testing the response of

:22:26.:22:28.

the emergency services, has taken place in Cardiff Bay. The RNLI and

:22:29.:22:32.

the police took part with the fire service and the Coastguard. An RAF

:22:33.:22:35.

helicopter from Chivenor was also involved in a staged crash between

:22:36.:22:38.

two boats involving 25 potential casualties.

:22:39.:22:42.

The owner of Neath Rugby Club has been arrested on suspicion of fraud

:22:43.:22:46.

and money laundering. Geraint Hawkes, who's 47, and another man

:22:47.:22:49.

aged 44, are being questioned as part of an ongoing fraud

:22:50.:22:53.

investigation. Police say the arrests were made at addresses in

:22:54.:23:00.

south Wales, including at Neath RFC. When Wales international Matthew

:23:01.:23:03.

Rees was diagnosed with testicular cancer last November, he didn't know

:23:04.:23:06.

whether he would be able to play rugby again. But last weekend, he

:23:07.:23:11.

took the field for the Cardiff Blues after being given the all-clear

:23:12.:23:14.

following a gruelling course of chemotherapy. Today, he's been

:23:15.:23:17.

telling our sports reporter Ashleigh Crowter about how his young daughter

:23:18.:23:21.

and his love for rugby kept him going through the dark times.

:23:22.:23:34.

The support has been phenomenal. I think it shows how good a friendship

:23:35.:23:42.

you can get from rugby. The strong, sort of, friendships that you carry

:23:43.:23:49.

through the rest of your life. You still finding it hard about the

:23:50.:23:53.

treatment you went through. But physically and mentally, is there

:23:54.:23:57.

any reason why you can't get back to the clear you were 12 months ago? I

:23:58.:24:00.

am meant to be stronger than they have ever been after the last five

:24:01.:24:09.

or six months. They have always been pushing myself as a player. That is

:24:10.:24:20.

my goal, the World Cup. Especially after missing the last World Cup. It

:24:21.:24:25.

is a massive goal of mine. They need to ask you about how you feel about

:24:26.:24:28.

the people at Felindre who have helped do. They have been amazing.

:24:29.:24:36.

The staff have been phenomenal all the way through my treatment. A lot

:24:37.:24:42.

of credit has got to go to the Princess Margaret Ward when I was

:24:43.:24:48.

based. You realise how important those type of people are. They are

:24:49.:24:53.

worth their weight in gold. It has changed me as a person. You never

:24:54.:24:58.

know what is round the corner. Obviously, my family have been very

:24:59.:25:05.

supportive all the way through this. I have got a young daughter. To be

:25:06.:25:12.

seeing her when I was going through the treatment on a daily basis, it

:25:13.:25:18.

was a fight. There are things you want to see your daughter grow up

:25:19.:25:24.

and do. That has kept me going. Matthew Rees talking to us. Good to

:25:25.:25:28.

see him back. All change on the weather front

:25:29.:25:29.

today. Derek has the forecast. We have all seen some rain and

:25:30.:25:39.

rumbles of thunder. The raider shows the rain and showers spreading their

:25:40.:25:42.

way northwards, dry weather following from the south with the

:25:43.:25:46.

odd glimpse of sunshine. Tomorrow, some dry weather but there is more

:25:47.:25:51.

drain on the way. Some heavy rain as well. A lot of dry weather tonight

:25:52.:25:55.

but splashes of rain which could be heavy and thundery, for example in

:25:56.:26:01.

Pembrokeshire. Another mild, murky night. Lowest temperatures in 11

:26:02.:26:06.

Celsius. There is a trough of low pressure over the south west of

:26:07.:26:09.

Britain with a front line through Pembrokeshire. Tomorrow morning at

:26:10.:26:14.

eight o'clock, most of the country dry at this stage. Little bit misty

:26:15.:26:19.

in places. It won't be dry everywhere. Rain is likely part of

:26:20.:26:28.

the and west. During the day tomorrow, the rain in the south and

:26:29.:26:31.

west will become more widespread, some of it heavy, over 20

:26:32.:26:37.

millimetres in places. The north east dry but even here a few

:26:38.:26:42.

showers. The winds light with top temperatures of 13 Celsius. Turning

:26:43.:26:50.

wet in Pembrokeshire. Tomorrow evening, how to break suffering will

:26:51.:26:53.

spread northwards and eventually clearing. Overnight, turning try it

:26:54.:26:59.

with low cloud. Friday will be a better day with one or two showers

:27:00.:27:03.

but generally dry and brightening up, feeling fresher. The air quality

:27:04.:27:10.

improving. The weekend, light rain on Saturday, heavy rain on Sunday

:27:11.:27:15.

but it should try and brightening on Sunday afternoon. Not a total

:27:16.:27:16.

write-off this weekend. The main news again from the BBC.

:27:17.:27:26.

And new proposals to ban people using electronic cigarettes in

:27:27.:27:28.

public places have been put forward by the Welsh Government. It says

:27:29.:27:31.

it'll help reduce smoking related deaths.

:27:32.:27:34.

And that is Wales Today. We'll have a quick update at 8pm and more news

:27:35.:27:38.

at 10.25pm. For now though, from all of us on the programme, have a good

:27:39.:27:40.

evening.
