A teenager has been told he will never walk again after falling

:00:20.:00:23.

Joshua Davies said he was being chased by bullies who

:00:24.:00:27.

Joshua from Pontypridd has Asperger's Syndrome.

:00:28.:00:31.

He fell 50 feet into the River Taff, breaking his spine in four places.

:00:32.:00:36.

His mother believes he was bullied because of his disability.

:00:37.:00:39.

Described by his mother as a boy with a positive attitude,

:00:40.:00:46.

18-year-old Joshua Davies is now facing months of intensive treatment

:00:47.:00:49.

after the accident which almost cost him his life.

:00:50.:00:53.

Joshua was crossing this bridge in Pontypridd when he said

:00:54.:00:56.

He climbed on the outside of the railings to escape, claiming

:00:57.:01:07.

He broke his back in four places, both his ankles and his wrist.

:01:08.:01:13.

Today, his stepfather and mother were back at the scene.

:01:14.:01:16.

They say he was bullied because he has Asperger's syndrome,

:01:17.:01:18.

He's a young boy, he doesn't deserve what he's been left with.

:01:19.:01:33.

I just wish I could take it away from him.

:01:34.:01:37.

I know that Joshua has been bullied and I know that other

:01:38.:01:40.

As much as Joshua pretends everything is OK, if you're

:01:41.:01:44.

It has had a huge impact on the family.

:01:45.:01:53.

His older brothers and his sister, they are all very upset.

:01:54.:01:59.

On the day they saw Joshua in hospital,

:02:00.:02:02.

The charity which supports people with autism

:02:03.:02:06.

A huge amount of people are affected by this particular issue.

:02:07.:02:17.

This survey we did with families, we found that, particularly in relation

:02:18.:02:26.

to Asperger's syndrome, about 90% of parents reported that there has

:02:27.:02:29.

Police say they have investigated three allegations of assault against

:02:30.:02:32.

They say there is no obvious link with this latest incident.

:02:33.:02:36.

Three boys have been arrested and released on police bail.

:02:37.:02:39.

Delegates have started arriving, the navy has docked,

:02:40.:02:42.

There are warnings of traffic disruption, roads between the Celtic

:02:43.:02:49.

Manor resort in Newport and Cardiff are the most likely to be affected.

:02:50.:02:52.

Tonight, there've already been arrests

:02:53.:02:53.

after what police call low level protests in Cardiff city centre.

:02:54.:02:56.

But what is the summit really all about?

:02:57.:02:58.

Our political correspondent Daniel Davies has been finding out.

:02:59.:03:13.

When NATO comes to town, this is what it looks like.

:03:14.:03:15.

The Royal navy's HMS Duncan arriving in Cardiff this afternoon.

:03:16.:03:18.

Onshore and in the skies, a huge police and Navy presence.

:03:19.:03:20.

of a metre either side as she gingerly edges in.

:03:21.:03:26.

Many preparations are going in for a busy and full programme.

:03:27.:03:30.

After the Second World War, and at the start of the Cold War, 12

:03:31.:03:37.

European and North American allies banded together for mutual defence.

:03:38.:03:43.

By the time of its last summit in Chicago two years ago,

:03:44.:03:46.

It has outlasted the Soviet Union, so with no Cold War to fight,

:03:47.:03:51.

Under its founding treaty, NATO members agreed that an armed

:03:52.:03:59.

attack on one of them is considered an attack against them all.

:04:00.:04:05.

65 years later, NATO now has 28 members.

:04:06.:04:09.

It has expanded eastwards into former Communist territory.

:04:10.:04:11.

Albania and Croatia are the newest members with more nations

:04:12.:04:14.

Around 60 heads of state and government leaders are expected

:04:15.:04:21.

Behind the ring of steel, they will discuss the future of Afghanistan,

:04:22.:04:29.

where Nato troops are preparing to pull out, and the crisis in Ukraine.

:04:30.:04:34.

One man who has been on the inside in the past is the UK's

:04:35.:04:37.

It's not for show, it's very serious.

:04:38.:04:43.

But a lot of it is predetermined with drafts and communiques.

:04:44.:04:49.

But the key questions of what is going to happen in Afghanistan

:04:50.:04:54.

after the withdrawal, how do you ensure the interoperability of NATO

:04:55.:04:57.

forces, what is going to happen with Ukraine, those are big issues and it

:04:58.:05:03.

opinion. NATO's mission used to be so simple in the old days,

:05:04.:05:11.

Now with complicated conflicts smouldering on its borders,

:05:12.:05:21.

today's alliance is coming to Wales to decide its modern mission.

:05:22.:05:31.

A soldier from Wrexham was killed during an attack by insurgents on

:05:32.:05:34.

an army check point in Afghanistan in 2012 an inquest has heard.

:05:35.:05:37.

Grenadier Guardsman Jamie Shadrake, who was 20,

:05:38.:05:39.

The coroner said, he was satisfied that the Army had since

:05:40.:05:44.

We believed in Jamie and what he was doing in Afghanistan.

:05:45.:05:51.

His selfless sacrifice has helped the people of Afghanistan

:05:52.:05:53.

and I am so proud of my son and what he has achieved in his short life.

:05:54.:05:59.

As a family, we are grateful to the help and support that we have

:06:00.:06:02.

received from the Grenadier Guards through this difficult time.

:06:03.:06:08.

A Welsh country and western singer, who hosts a programme on

:06:09.:06:10.

BBC Radio Cymru, has apologised for posting a comment

:06:11.:06:14.

on Twitter which was offensive about the Pakistani community.

:06:15.:06:18.

John Jones later deleted the comment which said there were,

:06:19.:06:21.

"Too many of them in the country anyway," and apologised.

:06:22.:06:25.

BBC Wales said the original tweet was totally unacceptable.

:06:26.:06:30.

It has written to him, outlining the high standards it

:06:31.:06:32.

The family of a 12 year old boy who was swept out to sea off Anglesey on

:06:33.:06:39.

Friday has thanked everyone involved in the search for his body.

:06:40.:06:41.

Issac Nash, who's from Huddersfield in Yorkshire, was

:06:42.:06:43.

on holiday with his family, when the accident happened near Aberffraw.

:06:44.:06:53.

The Royal British Legion has launched a pop-in centre in Cardiff

:06:54.:06:55.

where people leaving the armed forces will be able to

:06:56.:06:58.

The First Minister visited the centre

:06:59.:07:00.

which aims to help the Legion meet a growing demand for its services.

:07:01.:07:03.

Similar facilities will be opening in Swansea, Wrexham and Caernarfon.

:07:04.:07:22.

It is all about ease of access. A lot of people coming out of the

:07:23.:07:27.

armed services do not know how the system works. There is somebody who

:07:28.:07:31.

can guide them through things, step-by-step.

:07:32.:07:35.

BBC Cymru Wales and Sport Wales are joining forces

:07:36.:07:39.

again this December for the country's biggest annual celebration

:07:40.:07:41.

The Wales Sport Awards will take place on the 8th December when

:07:42.:07:45.

among the prizes to be handed out will be BBC Wales Sports Personality

:07:46.:07:48.

You can also nominate people for the grassroots awards.

Certainly very warm for September. The fine, warm and settled weather

:07:54.:08:22.

continues tomorrow. Tonight, clear spells, mist and fog patches. Some

:08:23.:08:25.

cloud could be thick enough to produce at the odd spot of drizzle,

:08:26.:08:30.

holding up the temperatures as well. Not as chilly as last night. Cloudy

:08:31.:08:40.

start tomorrow. But that mist and fog will lift and break to leave a

:08:41.:08:48.

clear day. Sunny spells developing for most of us tomorrow, turning a

:08:49.:08:55.

bit hazy at times. Highs between 16 Celsius in north-west Scotland, and

:08:56.:09:03.

into the 20s in the south-east. In Wales, temperatures creeping up into

:09:04.:09:09.

the low 20s across Wales. A similar, settled picture for Thursday,

:09:10.:09:15.

largely fine with variable crowd. -- variable cloud. Some lingering

:09:16.:09:21.

Calstock missed. High pressure is keeping things settled over the next

:09:22.:09:26.

few days, but later in the week at these low pressure systems will try

:09:27.:09:31.

to push in. High pressure could keep them at bay and keep things dry, but

:09:32.:09:36.

it looks as if they will make inroads, especially by Sunday. The

:09:37.:09:44.

detail is a bit difficult to pin down. Finally for the next couple of

:09:45.:09:50.

days. It should be dry, but cloudy for the weekend.

:09:51.:09:56.

Thank you. We are back with the latest news, sport and weather

:09:57.:10:00.

reports on breakfast from 630 tomorrow morning. Goodbye.
