A very merry evening to you. I'm sure it is quite merry for some of | :00:00. | :00:09.
us by now. First things first, let's see where Santa is. We've been | :00:10. | :00:13.
tracking Santa with our weather radar. He's encountering a head wind | :00:14. | :00:18.
here, south of the North Pole. I can confirm, he's on his way. Presents | :00:19. | :00:23.
for some of us, I'm sure, on the way too. The weather is on the festive | :00:24. | :00:27.
side across Scotland. We have snow showers. Even iciness on the roads. | :00:28. | :00:32.
But for many of us, it's a clear night. Fair weather for Santa. We | :00:33. | :00:37.
have rain nudging into the south-west of England by the time we | :00:38. | :00:41.
get to early on Christmas Day morning. This weather system here is | :00:42. | :00:45.
going to bring mild and wet conditions to the southern half of | :00:46. | :00:49.
the UK. It's going to be a very mild Christmas Day. But not for | :00:50. | :00:52.
everybody. Let's look at the morning, this is 10am, perhaps you | :00:53. | :00:56.
might be going out for a stroll. It's not a pretty picture across the | :00:57. | :01:01.
south-west of England. 13 degrees. It's raining, rain across central, | :01:02. | :01:05.
southern England. At this stage, more crisp, across northern parts of | :01:06. | :01:09.
the country. From the Midlands northwards and across Scotland a | :01:10. | :01:12.
touch of frost with one or two flakes of snow. For some of us | :01:13. | :01:16.
across the Highlands it is going to be just about a white Christmas. | :01:17. | :01:20.
Through the course of Christmas Day, this band of wet weather's going to | :01:21. | :01:24.
move further north. Eventually it will engulf Wales, moving into | :01:25. | :01:27.
northern England and by the evening hours, it is going to reach southern | :01:28. | :01:30.
parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland. Actually across the | :01:31. | :01:33.
southern Uplands of Scotland over the hills we could see snow. Cold | :01:34. | :01:38.
weather rain falls tomorrow afternoon. To the south it is a very | :01:39. | :01:42.
mild Christmas, around 14 degrees Celsius. On a more serious note, we | :01:43. | :01:47.
have an amber warning from the Met Office for heavy rain. It's | :01:48. | :01:52.
approaching the UK during the course of Boxing Day, making a bee line for | :01:53. | :01:55.
north-western parts of the British Isles. Certainly Cumbria. That's | :01:56. | :02:00.
where the warning is in force. The rain could cause problems here. | :02:01. | :02:06.
Impacts here from flooding. To the south, it's going to be dry and | :02:07. | :02:11.
exceptionally mild, 15 degrees. Colder in Scotland, six or seven. By | :02:12. | :02:14.
the time we get to Sunday, southerly winds push some of that mild air all | :02:15. | :02:19.
the way further north. Temperatures rising across Scotland up to around | :02:20. | :02:22.
about 10 degrees Celsius. That's about it. You're up to date with the | :02:23. | :02:28.
weather. There's one more thing to say, I hope you have a | :02:29. | :02:30. |
