Good evening. Residents in a North Yorkshire

village say they feel ignored after mining work

damaged their homes and businesses. People living in Hensall

near Kellingley Colliery have seen huge cracks appearing

in walls and ceilings. The Coal Authority is dealing

with more than 200 claims. But although mining stopped

at Kellingley in 2015, it's claimed This is one of the more

sizeable cracks. Ten years ago, Angela

built her dream home. She never imagined that so soon

after moving in, the home she This is where we first

noticed any damage. We were watching TV and bits

of the ceiling started falling down. It has spread all along

the front and over time it I am worried about the effect

it's had on the value and I'm worried you do not know

what is underneath you. There are drops in the

ground all around you. You just wonder what is

going on down there. This is an example of

yet another house that has been damaged by that

underground mining. You might not be able to see it

but the floor is tilting down to If you look at this bedroom,

you do not need to open the door or push it because it

opens automatically. The door frame is tilting down

to one side as well. This bed - the owners have had

to put some books under it because the bed head was

falling so far down. The radiator fell off

in the middle of the night. Life is miserable for

the people living here. These are not the only

properties damage. Harold runs a group

that helps villagers. He has received hundreds

of complaints and says the Coal Authority have been

carrying out substandard repairs. Everybody in previous regions have

been treated far better. We feel we are at the end

of the process and have been Kellingley was the last

coal mine to close and Hensall will be

one of the last villagers to deal For some, the damage

was too much to bear. Hazel and Frank have lived

in the village for nearly 50 years. When you went upstairs, you thought

you were going to go down and come back through a hole rather

than down the stairs. We were not getting

anywhere with UK Coal. We were getting the

wrong answers to the It broke our hearts

to leave that house. Hazel and Frank are are now

enjoying their retirement in a new home but for many, this ordeal

is just getting started. Well, Ali is at Kellingley

Colliery tonight. Mining stopped there a while ago

but the problems continue. Yes, it shut back into thousand and

with all of the complaints. In a statement they told us they have had

more than 260 claims fire. There are around 340 homes in the area. That

is the majority of people living here. Experts are working closely

with locals and they have spent more than ?1 million settling claims in

the area. They can only carry out repairs when they know that coal

mining subsidence will cause no further damage. That may be some

comfort but many say they are not happy with how this has been dealt
