The officers were bailed unconditionally to appear

at the Crown Court in four weeks' time.

Meanwhile, eight West Midlands Police officers are to face

misconduct proceedings over the alleged assault and rachal

abuse of a Birmingham man who was arrested in 2007.

It follows complaints by Donville Lorenzo about the way

he was treated during his arrest and subsequent detention

The Independent Police Complaints Commission said it had carrhed out

a "very thorough investigathon" and that misconduct proceedhngs

to a new report into the benefits of the controversial high-speed rail

link planned between London, Birmingham and the north of England.

So tell us about the claims being made in today's report, Nicola.

Let me give you some background It is about conventional trains using

conventional tracks until they get to hear, when they hop onto HS2 So

those trains need to be abld to operate on both networks. It means

faster journey times, 53 minutes between here and London, sh`ving 22

minutes from the current jotrney time. It will mean one train per

hour and an extra 8800 HS2 seats every day from here. So what will it

bring to this area? Regener`tion, that's what they are claiming,

particularly to the Brownfidld sites around Stafford. They also say there

will be better links from the centre to the housing estates to the west

of Stafford. The council saxs it is a great idea.

We are expecting a huge imp`ct that HS2 will have on Stafford.

We've already seen ?1.2 billion worth of investment into thd town

centre, ?100 million in regdneration projects within the town already.

So we see it as an opportunhty for new housing, new inward

investment and further economic growth for the borough as a whole.

What have protesters been s`ying? We have a statement from the Stop The

Hs2 Campaign. He said it's not about jobs or reasonable growth -,

regional growth, he says it is about lining the pockets of the mdn behind

the curtains, the contractors who have been lobbying for this demonic

Ambitious plans have been announced in Birmingham to help small,

independent street-food traders to get their first restaurants.

It's become much harder, with so many national restatrant

Friday night in Birmingham is all about street food,

but how does this food comp`re to food from a restaurant?

We asked TV chef Glynn Purndll to try it out.

I think, to be honest with xou, you know you are in for fun.

So it's a big thumbs up then, but for many of the traders

here tonight it's become increasingly difficult to move

from a street food stall to a bricks and mortar restaurant.

We get people travel from all over the country to come and eat

I just hope they'll be with me and stick with me for

The ironic thing is, the buzz around street food

It's attracting the attention of national restaurant chains

and they are pushing up rents and grabbing

The main operators put most of their investment

and their revenue in paying for a prime site.

And they've hardly got much left for their produce and the pdople.

But now developers, the council and vendors are coming together

We are looking at more suburban areas, town centres where wd can

create clusters of restaurants so they will turn into desthnations,

whether that's Kings Heath high street or anywhere else

The people I've been talking to are all passionate about food

and they like street food, partly because it's one

of the things that makes where you live unique.

It's like a football team, it makes your town, your town.

So if this plan works, small clusters of street food

restaurants could be coming to a street near you.
