Welcome to North West Tonight with Annabel Tiffin

:00:00.:00:00.

The man who died falling down a lift shaft.

:00:00.:00:08.

A court hears the operators knew it repeatedly broke down.

:00:09.:00:11.

Craig Jones was trying to get the lift working when he fell.

:00:12.:00:14.

How pioneering surgery using bionic eyes to overcome blindness.

:00:15.:00:24.

How university astronomers spotted something unusual in the night sky.

:00:25.:00:30.

Having conquered Collyhurst, Attila the Nun is moving on.

:00:31.:00:53.

A court's heard how a young man fell to his death when he tried to escape

:00:54.:00:57.

from a lift that got stuck in an apartment building in Bolton.

:00:58.:01:01.

Craig Jones was 27 - he fell five floors,

:01:02.:01:04.

suffering injuries so severe he died later in hospital.

:01:05.:01:07.

Clare Fallon has been at Bolton Crown Court for us today,

:01:08.:01:10.

and is live there this evening for us.

:01:11.:01:13.

A difficult day, you'd imagine, for Craig Jones's relatives.

:01:14.:01:23.

It has been a really tough day for them. They in mind, his mother

:01:24.:01:29.

arrived at court this morning, hoping and expecting that by this

:01:30.:01:32.

evening she would have some kind of closure, that she would know what

:01:33.:01:35.

punishment had been handed down. At the end of the day in court, the

:01:36.:01:39.

judge said he needs more time to consider the sentence. Craig Jones

:01:40.:01:45.

was 27 years old, worked as a plasterer, has been described as a

:01:46.:01:48.

man who was full of fun and laughter. He lived in an apartment

:01:49.:01:53.

building, only a couple of hundred meters away from where I'm standing

:01:54.:01:57.

in Bolton town centre. In 2014, he got stuck in one of the lifts while

:01:58.:02:02.

going up to his flat. We heard in court there had been previous

:02:03.:02:04.

problems with the lifts, they had broken down on a number of

:02:05.:02:09.

occasions, sometimes the fire crew had been called out to rescue people

:02:10.:02:15.

from the lifts. There was a problem with the emergency contact button,

:02:16.:02:20.

they did not always connect. On this occasion, he decided to get himself

:02:21.:02:24.

out of the left. He managed to get the doors open and tried to lower

:02:25.:02:29.

himself out, but he fell about five floors and suffered injuries that

:02:30.:02:31.

were so seriously died in hospital later.

:02:32.:02:36.

It is the management company which had responsibility for ensuring the

:02:37.:02:40.

safety of the building which is due to be sentenced? That is right, a

:02:41.:02:45.

company called Warwick Estates, which was in charge all the coding's

:02:46.:02:54.

safety. It has admitted to some health and safety breaches. The

:02:55.:02:56.

lawyer acting for that company did try to argue that he should have

:02:57.:03:00.

stayed put in the left, should not have tried to get himself out,

:03:01.:03:04.

although the judge did say he felt the argument lacked a sense of

:03:05.:03:10.

reality. The judge, as I say, has adjourned this case. It may be we

:03:11.:03:15.

get a sentence tomorrow, or it might be there is a longer delay. Thank

:03:16.:03:17.

you. A drink-driver who killed a woman

:03:18.:03:19.

in a hit and run incident in Greater Manchester

:03:20.:03:22.

has been jailed for six years. Susan Smythe was walking

:03:23.:03:24.

home from playing bingo when she was hit by a speeding car

:03:25.:03:26.

in Stretford in September. Paul Tomlinson from Sale Moor has

:03:27.:03:30.

been sentenced to six years, which has angered

:03:31.:03:34.

Susan Smythe's family. The justice system

:03:35.:03:40.

stinks in this country. For taking someone's life,

:03:41.:03:46.

three years is nothing. and her children are doing

:03:47.:03:49.

the life sentence too. A murder inquiry is underway

:03:50.:03:55.

after the death of man following reports of a large fight

:03:56.:03:57.

outside a bar in Altrincham. The 31-year-old was found

:03:58.:04:00.

with serious head injuries on The Causeway in the early hours,

:04:01.:04:02.

and died in hospital. Police are searching

:04:03.:04:06.

for a group of around ten men, who were involved

:04:07.:04:08.

in the disturbance. A drugs fugitive from Ormskirk,

:04:09.:04:12.

who was in hiding in Ghana, David McDermott was a member

:04:13.:04:15.

of a gang involved in a conspiracy to import ?70 million worth

:04:16.:04:20.

of cocaine, seized from a container of frozen Argentinian beef

:04:21.:04:24.

at Tilbury docks in Essex in 2013. He's the final member

:04:25.:04:29.

of the gang to be jailed. Tranmere Rovers' footballer

:04:30.:04:32.

James Norwood has apologised after posting a photograph

:04:33.:04:34.

on social media, in which he'd painted his skin black

:04:35.:04:37.

for a fancy dress costume. by the anti-discrimination

:04:38.:04:40.

charity Kick It Out, who called it "out of date

:04:41.:04:44.

in today's modern world". In a few days' time,

:04:45.:04:49.

many communities in the North West will be marking the first

:04:50.:04:52.

anniversary of the devastating

:04:53.:04:54.

Boxing Day floods. One of the Lancashire

:04:55.:04:55.

villages hardest hit Today, a new flood defence

:04:56.:04:59.

system aimed at protecting Tomorrow, Storm Barbara is expected

:05:00.:05:04.

to lash parts of our region with winds of nearly

:05:05.:05:09.

70 miles an hour, making Christmas journeys

:05:10.:05:11.

even more difficult. The new flood defence for Croston

:05:12.:05:24.

has been built a couple of miles upstream from the village. From

:05:25.:05:27.

today, it protects 400 properties to stop the Environment Agency spent ?6

:05:28.:05:32.

million building a dam which will hold back the river Yarrow if

:05:33.:05:37.

needed. One of the problems is that when heavy rain produces surface

:05:38.:05:40.

water, which would normally run into the river, if the river is full, it

:05:41.:05:47.

has nowhere to go. Now these new gates can be closed, damning the

:05:48.:05:53.

river here so thought water builds up further upstream, meaning there

:05:54.:05:58.

is more room further downstream in Croston for the surface water to get

:05:59.:06:05.

into. Last December, it was one of many Northwest communities affected

:06:06.:06:08.

by floods and torrential rain. One Trinity leader said the floods

:06:09.:06:11.

caused huge stress for many people, some of whom are not in their house

:06:12.:06:17.

now. She is confident the new scheme will work. People often stand here

:06:18.:06:22.

and say, it could not possibly have flooded. Oh, yes it did except --

:06:23.:06:30.

yes, it did! If we had that out of rain again,

:06:31.:06:38.

their steam would cope with it. Storm Barbara could affect the

:06:39.:06:42.

north-west tomorrow. Very still and from the Isle of Man are likely to

:06:43.:06:45.

be cancelled or delayed. An extra freight ship has been brought into

:06:46.:06:54.

mate sure that supplies storage the island. Bad weather and Christmas

:06:55.:07:00.

traffic mean some road journeys could take three times longer than

:07:01.:07:06.

normal. The M6between Stoke and Warrington is expected to be one of

:07:07.:07:12.

the busiest routes, the MS 60 and M6 G2 near Rochdale could also be slow.

:07:13.:07:16.

Police plan your journey well ahead. Get onto our website or download our

:07:17.:07:23.

app and look at the route you have to take and plan your journey on

:07:24.:07:28.

plenty of time. Engineering work and station closures will affect some

:07:29.:07:31.

rail journeys. A planned strike by British Airways having crew is due

:07:32.:07:37.

to take place at Christmas. -- cabin crew.

:07:38.:07:41.

So weather problems to come - here's Dianne.

:07:42.:07:46.

Good evening. Storm Barbara is due to reach us tomorrow. Gusts reaching

:07:47.:07:56.

70 miles an hour. There is the potential for high sided vehicles to

:07:57.:08:00.

be blown over on motorways, so they could be problems there. Indeed,

:08:01.:08:04.

rail services may be disrupted because trains have the slowdown

:08:05.:08:08.

because they cannot cope when the speeds are that difficult. I will

:08:09.:08:11.

have the full details for you at the end of the programme.

:08:12.:08:12.

The Food Standards Agency has begun an investigation

:08:13.:08:14.

after six food poisoning cases in South Cumbria.

:08:15.:08:17.

It's believed the cause of the outbreak of the campylobacter

:08:18.:08:22.

bacteria is the consumption of raw milk from a vending machine

:08:23.:08:25.

South Lakeland council says the owner is helping

:08:26.:08:30.

with the investigation and has suspended the sale

:08:31.:08:33.

The body of a dog with severe injuries has been found

:08:34.:08:38.

Also in the bag, found in Prenton, was a pink sweatshirt

:08:39.:08:43.

The RSPCA says the female shih tzu had suffered a number of injuries,

:08:44.:08:48.

The charity doesn't believe the dog was hit by a car.

:08:49.:08:54.

Iran Air has placed a multi-billion pound order for 100 new Airbus jets.

:08:55.:08:58.

The wings will be built at the company's plant

:08:59.:09:00.

Airbus is one of many western businesses attempting to

:09:01.:09:05.

take advantage of the easing of international sanctions

:09:06.:09:07.

The Royal Blackburn Hospital and Burnley General will be known

:09:08.:09:15.

as "teaching" hospitals from now on, to reflect their roles in education.

:09:16.:09:18.

The East Lancashire Trust, which runs the hospitals,

:09:19.:09:20.

says they already have a well established reputation for providing

:09:21.:09:22.

placements for students, and they're significantly increasing

:09:23.:09:26.

A new trial of technology which could help hundreds

:09:27.:09:37.

of thousands of blind people to get some sight back

:09:38.:09:40.

Initial trials on the so-called "bionic eye" have been

:09:41.:09:44.

so successful, the NHS is now funding further research.

:09:45.:09:48.

Our health correspondent, Gill Dummigan, reports.

:09:49.:09:52.

Keith Hayman from Fleetwood suffers from a rare progressive condition

:09:53.:09:55.

In the mid '80s, he finally went blind,

:09:56.:10:00.

and that's how he stayed for the next 30 years.

:10:01.:10:04.

I've missed seeing my grandchildren grow up.

:10:05.:10:07.

That's the biggest heartache, really.

:10:08.:10:10.

But in 2009, Keith had a revolutionary operation

:10:11.:10:13.

at the Manchester Royal Eye Hospital.

:10:14.:10:18.

Surgeons implanted a chip like this at the back of his eye,

:10:19.:10:21.

which has allowed him to see light and shapes.

:10:22.:10:23.

Not full sight, but still a life-changing improvement.

:10:24.:10:26.

It just gives you more of an interest,

:10:27.:10:28.

because instead of walking around in total darkness everywhere,

:10:29.:10:32.

you have got all these shapes to work out what they are.

:10:33.:10:38.

You know, windows and lights and people, cars, everything.

:10:39.:10:42.

The system uses special glasses with a built-in video camera.

:10:43.:10:46.

That sends wireless signals to that chip implanted on Keith's retina.

:10:47.:10:50.

The chip then helps send that visual information to the brain.

:10:51.:10:54.

Keith's operation was funded by the company

:10:55.:10:57.

This new trial with five patients, also with the same condition,

:10:58.:11:02.

the technology could eventually become widely available.

:11:03.:11:10.

Retinitis Pigmentosa, the condition which Keith

:11:11.:11:15.

and the five patients in this new trial suffer from, is fairly rare.

:11:16.:11:18.

But there's a second trial being run here to see how the same technology

:11:19.:11:22.

can help people with Age-Related Macular Degeneration,

:11:23.:11:25.

the most common cause of sight loss in the UK,

:11:26.:11:29.

I think a lot of ophthalmologists think this is in the realms

:11:30.:11:37.

of science fiction, but it's very much become science fact.

:11:38.:11:42.

So we are very, very excited about it.

:11:43.:11:47.

Keith helped researchers shape this technology.

:11:48.:11:50.

The hope is that, within a few years,

:11:51.:11:52.

the benefits he's had from it can be shared with thousands of others.

:11:53.:12:02.

to help those who need it most this Christmas.

:12:03.:12:14.

I would like to present you with this BBC Christmas star.

:12:15.:12:22.

A Christmas Star for the buskers who've piled on the pounds

:12:23.:12:26.

The stars and planets in our dark and wintery sky

:12:27.:12:31.

can sometimes seem extremely remote.

:12:32.:12:32.

could make outer space feel a lot closer.

:12:33.:12:37.

One student is recording data about asteroid orbits

:12:38.:12:44.

to help Nasa gather vital information

:12:45.:12:45.

which could help protect earth in the future.

:12:46.:12:47.

An astroid the size of a mountain, coming within a whisker of Earth.

:12:48.:12:53.

This recording shows a mile-long object, speeding past our planet

:12:54.:12:56.

The images were caught by a student at the University

:12:57.:13:03.

He is working on a project to track asteroids.

:13:04.:13:08.

They are pieces of rock, not quite big enough to be planets.

:13:09.:13:11.

Millions of them orbit the sun in our solar system,

:13:12.:13:14.

Even though it is at two lunar distances,

:13:15.:13:18.

which is twice the distance to the moon,

:13:19.:13:20.

so about 500,000 miles, it doesn't seem like it is very close.

:13:21.:13:23.

But then if you think about how big the whole solar system is,

:13:24.:13:27.

then really it has just grazed by the Earth.

:13:28.:13:33.

a state-of-the-art telescope at the Alston Observatory near Preston,

:13:34.:13:39.

This telescope is the largest just at any university

:13:40.:13:45.

On a clear night, it can see galaxies

:13:46.:13:48.

hundreds of millions of light years away.

:13:49.:13:50.

Like this, a distant supernova, the light from which

:13:51.:13:53.

has taken 245 million years to reach us.

:13:54.:13:58.

It also took this image of an unbarred spiral galaxy,

:13:59.:14:02.

We have such a world-class piece of equipment that,

:14:03.:14:06.

you can do science at a very high level.

:14:07.:14:12.

Nasa have requested information about the list of asteroids.

:14:13.:14:15.

They fund the Minor Planet Center in Massachusetts,

:14:16.:14:18.

where Simon has submitted his data.

:14:19.:14:21.

Most of the discoveries are made by the big, professional surveys.

:14:22.:14:23.

But they are not currently at the stage

:14:24.:14:28.

where they are observing all of the sky all of the time.

:14:29.:14:32.

So we need amateurs to sort of fill in the gaps.

:14:33.:14:36.

While this astroid may not a danger to our planet,

:14:37.:14:39.

the work being done here in Lancashire is helping

:14:40.:14:42.

to shed light on our dark and mysterious night sky.

:14:43.:15:01.

She's only five feet two, but she's larger than life.

:15:02.:15:04.

Her fearless stand against poverty in Manchester

:15:05.:15:07.

earned her the nickname "Attila the Nun".

:15:08.:15:11.

Sister Rita Lee even featured in her own TV series.

:15:12.:15:14.

But today she's been saying goodbye to the people

:15:15.:15:17.

in Collyhurst she's devoted her life to.

:15:18.:15:22.

It's the end of an era at the Lally Centre in Collyhurst,

:15:23.:15:31.

a drop-in centre for those struggling to cope.

:15:32.:15:35.

I'm talking people with no beds, you know?

:15:36.:15:37.

I'm talking people who live around here

:15:38.:15:39.

who wouldn't have a fridge freezer or a cooker

:15:40.:15:41.

She's compassionate but, as she showed in a TV documentary series,

:15:42.:15:48.

So either come in now or we'll have to phone him and tell him you didn't

:15:49.:16:02.

No wonder they call her Attila the Nun.

:16:03.:16:05.

A disagreement about the future of the centre has led to her departure.

:16:06.:16:09.

And there's even talk here of protests

:16:10.:16:11.

It's just a very sad day, we're all very upset.

:16:12.:16:18.

from the volunteers and the visitors.

:16:19.:16:25.

Just don't know what's going to happen without her.

:16:26.:16:30.

I have to find out, what does the Lord have in store for me now?

:16:31.:16:37.

Doesn't he just want you to put your feet up?

:16:38.:16:41.

I mean, you're in your 70s now, aren't you?

:16:42.:16:43.

I will definitely put my feet up, for the best part of six months.

:16:44.:16:48.

The TV programmes helped raise money for the centre.

:16:49.:16:50.

But Sister Rita puts her success down to prayer.

:16:51.:16:53.

My prayers, they're the most essential thing for me.

:16:54.:16:56.

I couldn't go without getting up in the morning,

:16:57.:16:58.

talking to the Lord and saying, "It's going to be tough today,

:16:59.:17:02.

you've got to be around, I need you."

:17:03.:17:06.

And sometimes I feel like I can put my hand up and he's there.

:17:07.:17:09.

We're surrounded at this time of year by messages from people

:17:10.:17:17.

about what to eat Christmas, what to drink,

:17:18.:17:19.

What would your Christmas message be?

:17:20.:17:22.

Bearing in mind your experience here.

:17:23.:17:26.

I would say the message of Christmas today should be trying your best

:17:27.:17:30.

to spread just a little peace and joy to those people

:17:31.:17:33.

next door, upstairs, downstairs, in your family.

:17:34.:17:39.

But it's hard to imagine her opting for a quiet life.

:17:40.:18:01.

The Rio Games marked a new high for disability sport

:18:02.:18:03.

with Paralympics GB scooping 147 Medals.

:18:04.:18:04.

But four months later, what is the reality like for

:18:05.:18:10.

some of the team who often have to rely on little or no funding.

:18:11.:18:15.

Stuart Pollitt has been to meet two of the competitors.

:18:16.:18:27.

It may be a chilly winters afternoon in Sefton Park,

:18:28.:18:30.

but these wheelchair racers aren't winding down for Christmas.

:18:31.:18:35.

Nathan Maguire and Dan Bramall both made their Paralympic debuts in Rio.

:18:36.:18:46.

Right now, it does feel a long, long way away, but it it really isn't.

:18:47.:18:50.

They're both determined to taste the big time again despite the cost.

:18:51.:18:55.

They both get lottery funding, they're grateful for it

:18:56.:18:57.

but Nathan for example receives just 7,000 a year.

:18:58.:18:59.

That has to pay for his chair, which costs up to 5,000,

:19:00.:19:02.

plus food and travel costs around the world.

:19:03.:19:08.

That helps a lot. But it still doesn't cover everything. I still

:19:09.:19:14.

live at home, so my parents help a lot. Anything I can't afford myself,

:19:15.:19:21.

they will help we with. Even though you are a Paralympian, you still

:19:22.:19:25.

rely on your parents to some degree? Yeah.

:19:26.:19:27.

Dan is slightly better off receiving ?15,000 per year.

:19:28.:19:31.

Do you have enough to live on and train properly? Not really, no. But

:19:32.:19:38.

it helps. His club is reliant on the odd grant

:19:39.:19:41.

to buy new chairs for new starters. Our club is based in Kirby, but we

:19:42.:19:52.

have athletes coming in from Preston, athletes from Chester,

:19:53.:19:59.

athletes from Liverpool. There is still a cost for athletes to start

:20:00.:20:05.

out the sport. There is a constant need for funding. And funding is the

:20:06.:20:10.

key point here. Nathan and Dan are grateful for they get, but is it

:20:11.:20:13.

enough for them to compete with the best in the world?

:20:14.:20:21.

Now a story in the true spirit of giving.

:20:22.:20:24.

A group of friends in Manchester were so upset by the plight

:20:25.:20:28.

of the city's homeless, they decided to something about it.

:20:29.:20:30.

They've handed out hundreds of Christmas gifts to spread cheer,

:20:31.:20:32.

and help build understanding between communities.

:20:33.:20:36.

and give Christmas gifts to the homeless.

:20:37.:20:42.

Just some of their hundreds of gifts Mohammed Sarwar

:20:43.:20:44.

and his friends have been handing out to the homeless

:20:45.:20:47.

it's not long before you pass a homeless person.

:20:48.:20:51.

If you're in a position to help people,

:20:52.:20:53.

The only way we're going to get help and stuff as well.

:20:54.:20:58.

If you look at some of these people, they really nice people,

:20:59.:21:00.

they're just unfortunate that they don't have anywhere to go.

:21:01.:21:03.

Giving charity is one of the requirements

:21:04.:21:06.

It's led to these young Muslims developing a good relationship

:21:07.:21:14.

with some of those sleeping rough in Manchester.

:21:15.:21:18.

When I was a kid, I wouldn't have gone up to a tramp

:21:19.:21:21.

I'd have been like, "It's your own fault."

:21:22.:21:28.

But now, the way the world has turned, young kids will come up

:21:29.:21:31.

to people on the streets, "There's 10p."

:21:32.:21:34.

You know the person who lives here quite well, do you?

:21:35.:21:36.

had extended conversations with him, which he loves.

:21:37.:21:40.

We've given him tea, coffee and hot food and stuff,

:21:41.:21:42.

So I think we still leave him a gift.

:21:43.:21:46.

We will leave it in his tent for him, yeah?

:21:47.:21:50.

Fantastic for community cohesion to get young men

:21:51.:21:52.

from the Asian Muslim community going out of their way

:21:53.:21:55.

from all backgrounds who are unfortunate,

:21:56.:21:57.

who find themselves homeless at this time of the year.

:21:58.:22:00.

With the charity Shelter estimating that more than 250,000 people

:22:01.:22:03.

are homeless in England alone, Mohammed says the festive period

:22:04.:22:06.

is a good time to bring people together.

:22:07.:22:17.

Now to this year's penultimate Christmas Star which tonight,

:22:18.:22:22.

goes to a group of fundraising buskers from Altrincham.

:22:23.:22:25.

They're called the Loose Change Buskers, and since 2010,

:22:26.:22:30.

have raised more than ?300,000 for Cancer Research UK.

:22:31.:22:38.

Today they were performing in their home town,

:22:39.:22:40.

so we sent our reporter, Ian Haslam, to surprise them.

:22:41.:22:45.

These are the Loose Change Buskers, doing what they do week in, week

:22:46.:22:51.

out. Then use might change, but they are a popular attraction wherever

:22:52.:22:58.

they go. Amazing to hear it here. It is fantastic. Amazing, really good.

:22:59.:23:02.

To give that time and raise that money is fantastic to do and really

:23:03.:23:11.

valuable. Getting the band together isn't easy. Basically, whoever is

:23:12.:23:14.

available comes down their instruments. They don't even

:23:15.:23:20.

rehearse. Not that it sure is. For their work, they are about to

:23:21.:23:26.

receive a Christmas Star. If we can stop them from playing! We

:23:27.:23:31.

are from BBC Northwest and night. A lady has got in touch with us to

:23:32.:23:34.

tell us about all the magnificent fundraising you have done over the

:23:35.:23:38.

years and all the smiles you put on peoples faces across the West. On

:23:39.:23:43.

behalf of her at many other people, I present you with this, a BBC

:23:44.:23:49.

Northwest tonight Christmas Star. The fact that they turn up week

:23:50.:23:54.

after week, several times a week, it is wonderful. It is that positivity

:23:55.:24:00.

that has kept the group going from strength to strength, but Italy

:24:01.:24:04.

after the deaths of two of the members from cancer. That makes it

:24:05.:24:09.

more serious all the time. We tried to make it fun, but we are here for

:24:10.:24:15.

the money, for Cancer research. We are very successful at raising

:24:16.:24:19.

money. So successful, they have raised more than 323,000 pounds. We

:24:20.:24:32.

pitch up, the matter the rain or shine, we cannot feel our fingers,

:24:33.:24:37.

but it is good. The feedback we yet and the smiles we get as people go

:24:38.:24:42.

past, it is a fantastic feeling. Look lovely on the mantelpiece,

:24:43.:24:50.

that. We do appreciate it. They hope to raise ?500,000 by 2018.

:24:51.:24:55.

That is a huge amount of money in six years. Tomorrow night, all good

:24:56.:25:08.

news,. You said all good news tomorrow

:25:09.:25:18.

night, bar the weather, because Storm Barbara is on the way. It is

:25:19.:25:24.

the warmest Christmas for several years as well. It will be good for

:25:25.:25:28.

people wanted to get out and their new bikes and so forth. You will

:25:29.:25:34.

have to wait. In the next 24 hours, it is not good news. We hope you

:25:35.:25:39.

have been able to amend your travel plans, because the gusts are

:25:40.:25:45.

potentially up to 70 mph. It is a really, really poor day. Once

:25:46.:25:50.

Barbara moves through, Saturday does not look too bad. Women get to

:25:51.:25:54.

Sunday, we have another storm coming through. It is not named as we

:25:55.:25:58.

speak, and that will move through quickly, bringing strong winds. As

:25:59.:26:04.

we start next week, high pressure takes charge and it should settle

:26:05.:26:07.

down. Next week looks quieter. As we go through the afternoon today, some

:26:08.:26:12.

showers have popped up here and there. The story tonight is to get

:26:13.:26:17.

rid of the little line of showers and then we are dry and largely

:26:18.:26:24.

clear. Temperatures are largely cool, with temperatures down to

:26:25.:26:29.

zero. Most towns and cities between three and 5 degrees. In the morning,

:26:30.:26:34.

there will be some spells of brightness for a time, but it is all

:26:35.:26:37.

about the arrival of Barbara. There is a yellow wind warning. That is

:26:38.:26:43.

everywhere across the north-west, so we will all be seen bees strong

:26:44.:26:48.

winds. There may be one to showers around in the morning, but spells of

:26:49.:26:52.

sunshine as well. By late morning, here comes the rain. It is not

:26:53.:26:56.

necessarily about that, but it will make an impact. It is about the

:26:57.:27:02.

wind. We could see vehicles being blown over on the motorways, because

:27:03.:27:05.

they are very strong, and train to be happy slowdown to cope with it.

:27:06.:27:10.

There will also be structural damage as well, with trees coming down. By

:27:11.:27:17.

6pm, the warning expires and hopefully things will get better.

:27:18.:27:21.

Temperatures ten or 11 degrees. Very strange weather!

:27:22.:27:25.

People me to stay inside and watch our Christmas special. There is no

:27:26.:27:29.

danger we are over 18 this? It is certain this is coming?

:27:30.:27:36.

It is absolutely coming, 60 or 70 mph in gusts.

:27:37.:27:37.

Stay safe and thank you for watching. See you later.

:27:38.:28:36.

Let's make this the best Christmas ever.

:28:37.:28:39.
