Hundreds of people have paid their final respects

to an inspirational fundraiser from Lancashire,

whose charity work has been praised in Parliament.

Shabaz Saleem, an RAF serviceman, died of bowel cancer.

Today, the Air Force gave his cortege a guard of honour

Shabaz's family was joined by his RAF family

and what looked like half of Nelson for the funeral.

It had been his dream to join the Air Force.

He's been in the RAF for ten years, ever since he was 17.

My brother went in and he was so proud.

You know, when he was ten, my eldest brother was in the Royal Air Force

and he used to try on his uniform, his number one uniform.

He used to look in front of the mirror and say to his nephew,

I didn't know that he was going to go so quick.

Shahbaz was best known for his charity work.

It was while on a fundraising climb up Snowdon last year

Towards the end of his life, Shahbaz was cared for here

It costs nearly ?4 million a year to run this place

and even though he was seriously ill by now,

he decided to embark on one final fundraising mission.

So far, nearly ?17,000 has been raised in his name.

The family themselves have been tremendous.

They've embraced the Hospice and they've touched everybody,

right from the nurses to the cleaners.

His efforts caught the attention of the Defence Secretary,

Sir Michael Fallon, who praised him in Parliament.

I think we are all impressed and inspired by the courage he has shown

from his sickbed in raising so much money for Pendleside Hospice.

Shabz was the epitome of a young airman.

He was well loved by everybody that worked with him,

and he did a huge amount for the charity.

Shahbaz Saleem was 27 years old, a father of two.

His family, of course, will feel the loss most.

But his life as a serviceman and fundraiser

touched many beyond this Lancashire town.

It gives me no comfort that the company, Warwick Estates,

who had responsibility for the maintenance of the lift,

However, I did get a lot of comfort from the judge's comments,

and he made it clear that Craig's death was completely

unnecessary and avoidable, it should not have happened

and that Craig was in no way at fault or to blame.

Police have made two arrests after the death of following a large fight

in Altrincham. He died in hospital. Two men have been arrested on

suspicion of murder, assault, affray and possession of a deadly weapon.

Seven board members at Morecambe Football Club

have released a statement voicing concerns over the absence of owner

Diego Lemos, and a lack of money going into the club.

The Brazilian bought the Shrimps in September.

Two board members resigned earlier this week.

Joey Barton, who only this week rejoined Burnley,

has been charged by the FA for misconduct

Barton is alleged to have placed 1,260 bets between 2006 and 2013.

He has until 5th of January to respond.
