Good evening. The Army have been the late news

Good evening. The Army have been brought in to help with flood

prevention in the South East. Winter storms have battered Kent and Sussex

overnight, more than 4,000 homes are without power. Trees are blocking

roads and there's been severe travel disruptions at the QE bridgd in

Dartford and on the stretchds of the M 2 and M 20.

Sandbag arrive in bishops born. This time brought by soldiers from the

light dra goons, doing what they can to keep the floods at bay. What

army's can do is deploy mass at short notice to affected villages

and towns across the countrx. My soldiers have been able to deploy on

the ground into our local communities and hopefully, the

communities `` community's appreciating what we're doing.

Getting into Yalding this morning was impossible. Every route was

flooded or blocked by trees. Just manic. I think they have in excess

of 200 trees down, all over the place. You can't go anywherd. The

trees are down and the floods, you come to this and you don't know

nothing about. It you think, that's it, we're stuck now. We're dxpecting

this, that's what you get. H'm from Northampton and we never have

anything like this. Neighbours were relieved to discover

it was only their cars that had been crushed. We heard an almighty crash.

With that my neighbour came round last night and, yeah, to find a

couple of cars crushed. Mord frustration if you tried to travel

by rail. Many routes were not running at all this morning, due to

fallen trees, like this one. Southern and south`eastern `re now

running a limited and severdly disrupted service. This has been a

familiar sight across the South`East today. Just outside Mepham the storm

brought down a tree, which, in turn, brought down the power cabld. It's

incidents like this that have left thousands of people without power

today. While the severe weather takes its toll on modern life,

traditional modes of transport may be the only reliable way to get

around. Parts of Chatham town centrd,

including a Royal Mail sorthng office, were cordoned off this

morning flog a security alert `` following a security alert. Police

said despite initial concerns, a suspect package was not involved.

Earlier this week three suspect path `` packages were found. The Prime

Minister said the earlier threats bore the hall mark of Northdrn Irish

terrorism. The road was cordoned off, both

ends. The police were there. The policeman come running up to me

Good evening. Any remaining showers will gradually die away tonhght

leaving it dry and clear, that means it will be cold. In rural locations

down to around zero, perhaps a little bit of ice or ground frost

tomorrow morning. The Met Office has a yellow weather warning in place

for those areas. Those showdrs moving out of the way, the sky

clears, the windfalls lightdr overnight as well. A little bit of a

breeze, but it is much calmdr. That's when the temperature will

drop to one or two Celsius. It means we will have clear skies tolorrow

morning, blue sky and sunshhne and really nothing else getting in the

way. The wind a lot lighter as well. It is just generally going to feel

bit of cloud around, a bit of a breeze, but not as much rain as

we've been having for the l`st few we've been having for the l`stfew
