I'm Edward Sault. for the news where you are.

:00:00.:00:11.

A vigil has been held in Reading to show solidarity

:00:12.:00:13.

with the thousands of people trapped in the besieged city

:00:14.:00:16.

It comes as Evacuations resume from the rebel-held area

:00:17.:00:19.

Now we see the biggest human rights crisis possibly

:00:20.:00:27.

Standing together, people from across Britain share

:00:28.:00:33.

Today's vigil was organised by a Reading mother of six who has

:00:34.:00:44.

who has taken aid to migrant camps in Europe and feels more should be

:00:45.:00:47.

It is so important for us to show them that we do care

:00:48.:00:55.

and we haven't forgotten them because if I was in that

:00:56.:00:58.

situation I would not want the world to forget me.

:00:59.:01:00.

That gives you so much strength in that situation.

:01:01.:01:02.

Not everyone out Christmas shopping stopped to listen, but many did

:01:03.:01:05.

It might be Christmas and we might be doing shopping and thinking

:01:06.:01:17.

about our families and being safe but there are people who are just

:01:18.:01:20.

dying, who have been let down by everybody.

:01:21.:01:22.

Even charities find it difficult to kind of get there and I suppose

:01:23.:01:25.

in my own sort of little way I just want to show that I do care.

:01:26.:01:29.

Those gathered here, sending out a message

:01:30.:01:30.

There'll be more disruption on Southern Rail services tomorrow

:01:31.:01:33.

as train conductors begin a 48 hour walkout.

:01:34.:01:36.

The RMT union is in dispute with the rail operator over

:01:37.:01:38.

plans to make drivers, rather than guards, operate

:01:39.:01:40.

Last week there were no Southern services at all for three days,

:01:41.:01:46.

when the drivers' union ASLEF also went on strike.

:01:47.:01:49.

The mother of a teenager whose body was recovered from the sea off

:01:50.:01:52.

Dorset earlier this year is now working with other young

:01:53.:01:55.

people to encourage them to stay safe on nights out.

:01:56.:02:07.

Louis Harris was 18 when he went missing in Weymouth in the early

:02:08.:02:11.

Louis Harris was a teenager out for a night in a seaside resort,

:02:12.:02:16.

The search for him went on for weeks.

:02:17.:02:19.

Police dived by the same quayside that people come to enjoy.

:02:20.:02:22.

Eventually his body was pulled from the sea nearby.

:02:23.:02:24.

Events leading up to his death are still not clear -

:02:25.:02:26.

But his mother has started working with pupils at his old school,

:02:27.:02:31.

She's hoping to talk to many more young people so that when they're

:02:32.:02:35.

old enough to go out drinking, or even before, they take steps

:02:36.:02:38.

We need to be realistic and practical, and not tell people,

:02:39.:02:44.

you know, not to drink, and accept that they will do,

:02:45.:02:48.

You know, so that they can make choices and understand

:02:49.:02:56.

Most drink things for teenagers, it seems quite patronising.

:02:57.:02:59.

It's like, "Don't drink, you're not old enough."

:03:00.:03:02.

Whereas this one treats you like you're an adult, which I liked.

:03:03.:03:05.

It makes you realise that it's important to know what your friends

:03:06.:03:08.

are doing and whether they can get home OK.

:03:09.:03:10.

This could have been the most important lesson

:03:11.:03:13.

Simon Clemison, BBC South Today, Dorchester.

:03:14.:03:17.

A swimming pool in Berkshire, which has been in use

:03:18.:03:19.

for more than a century, has closed its doors today.

:03:20.:03:22.

Reading Borough Council says it can't afford to keep

:03:23.:03:24.

the Arthur Hill Memorial Baths open, but hopes the pool will be

:03:25.:03:27.

replaced by a new facility in three or four years time.

:03:28.:03:30.

But it means the Reading Dolphin swimming club will now be wound up

:03:31.:03:34.

after holding its last session at the pool today.

:03:35.:03:37.

All its members have a disability or visual impairment.

:03:38.:03:41.

On to football and it was Southampton who came out on top

:03:42.:03:44.

in the south coast derby at Bournemouth this afternoon.

:03:45.:03:46.

Nathan Ake's header put the Cherries in front after six minutes,

:03:47.:03:49.

before Ryan Bertrand levelled with a solo effort.

:03:50.:03:51.

After the break, a tap-in from Jay Rodriguez gave Saints the lead.

:03:52.:03:54.

And a superb 20-yard finish from Rodriguez secured the win.

:03:55.:03:59.

Southampton move up to seventh, Bournemouth stay tenth.

:04:00.:04:10.

Still foggy in many places so we will get the weather now with Holly

:04:11.:04:16.

green. Good evening, mist and fog is

:04:17.:04:20.

office has a warning because some of office has a warning because some of

:04:21.:04:24.

it could be dense. An isolated shower or two tonight but mostly

:04:25.:04:29.

dry. With clear spells we could get some patchy frost. Tomorrow, poor

:04:30.:04:34.

visibility and thick fog which could gradually left but it will be slow.

:04:35.:04:38.

A few bright spells but mostly cloudy and the risk of rain moving

:04:39.:04:41.

in, especially later in the day. in, especially later in the day.

:04:42.:04:46.

Temperatures struggle. A murky start to Tuesday with patchy rain and

:04:47.:04:50.

drizzle and more unsettled by mid week.

:04:51.:04:53.

Yes, take care if you are travelling in that fog.

:04:54.:05:12.

Good evening. It's a big week for pre-Christmas travel plans

:05:13.:05:13.
