Hello there. It's been pretty quiet across the UK in recent days,

0:00:030:00:06

with very little rain to speak of. High pressure has been in charge.

0:00:060:00:10

This is what the big picture has looked like recently,

0:00:100:00:13

with high pressure across the United Kingdom,

0:00:130:00:15

the jet stream deflected around it towards the north.

0:00:150:00:17

However, by the end of this week

0:00:170:00:19

we are going to see some pretty big changes

0:00:190:00:21

as the jet stream moves to the south of the UK.

0:00:210:00:23

That's going to allow low pressure to develop across our shores

0:00:230:00:26

and that's going to bring some wetter and windier weather

0:00:260:00:29

later on this week.

0:00:290:00:31

But before we get there, it's a pretty reasonable day on Tuesday,

0:00:310:00:34

a chilly start, few patches of mist and fog, but bright for many.

0:00:340:00:37

Cloud amounts increasing into the afternoon,

0:00:370:00:39

but still some spells of sunshine to be had.

0:00:390:00:41

Maybe not so in the far north and west of Scotland

0:00:410:00:43

because here the cloud's thicker, a bit of light rain and drizzle,

0:00:430:00:46

but through Glasgow, Edinburgh, it's fairly cloudy,

0:00:460:00:48

but there should be some breaks towards Edinburgh.

0:00:480:00:50

With a few breaks in the cloud, light winds, 11 or 12 degrees.

0:00:500:00:53

A lot of cloud in Northern Ireland but it should be mostly dry.

0:00:530:00:56

And fairly cloudy through the afternoon

0:00:560:00:58

across much of the western side of England and Wales.

0:00:580:01:00

Yes, it's fairly cloudy, but most places are dry.

0:01:000:01:03

Only 8 or 9 degrees underneath that cloud.

0:01:030:01:05

We've got some spells of sunshine lasting into the afternoon

0:01:050:01:08

across the southern and eastern parts of England.

0:01:080:01:10

Eastern Scotland also seeing something a little bit brighter.

0:01:100:01:13

Through the evening, a lot of cloud around,

0:01:130:01:15

breaks rather more limited.

0:01:150:01:16

Still a bit of light rain and drizzle towards the north and west,

0:01:160:01:19

and temperatures not dropping away too far -

0:01:190:01:21

by this stage I think they're probably at their lowest

0:01:210:01:24

at about 4 or 5 degrees.

0:01:240:01:25

Wednesday, though, we do see a weak weather front

0:01:250:01:27

drifting its way towards the north and west of the UK.

0:01:270:01:30

That will bring a little bit of rain with it

0:01:300:01:33

and a few showers will follow along behind.

0:01:330:01:35

Many places will just be fine and dry, if rather cloudy.

0:01:350:01:39

We've got that weak weather front to the north and west.

0:01:390:01:41

It will bring some rain to Northern Ireland and Western Scotland

0:01:410:01:45

but that'll be about it - it'll fizzle out as it moves eastwards,

0:01:450:01:47

so most of England and Wales

0:01:470:01:49

will be dry through the middle of the week with a fair bit of cloud.

0:01:490:01:51

Still could get into double figures in the south and east.

0:01:510:01:54

Now, Wednesday's cloud makes its way over eastwards

0:01:540:01:58

only to be followed by this more active weather system for Thursday.

0:01:580:02:01

A lot more isobars, so it will turn quite windy,

0:02:010:02:03

and we're going to see those weather fronts bringing some rain.

0:02:030:02:06

It'll start off in the north and west of the UK

0:02:060:02:08

and spread to all parts as we get on into the afternoon.

0:02:080:02:11

Some drier bits following along behind,

0:02:110:02:13

but still with some blustery showers.

0:02:130:02:15

Then on to Good Friday, and actually it looks like a pretty decent day

0:02:150:02:19

across many parts of the UK.

0:02:190:02:21

That rain will clear away from the south-east early on,

0:02:210:02:23

and then it's dry and bright. We'll hang on to some dry weather

0:02:230:02:26

for central and eastern England well into the afternoon.

0:02:260:02:29

In the north and west, though,

0:02:290:02:30

it looks like wind and rain spreading in

0:02:300:02:32

and that wind will be picking up across all parts later in the day

0:02:320:02:35

as that weather front makes pretty good progress

0:02:350:02:37

southwards and eastwards from Good Friday on into Saturday.

0:02:370:02:42

So Saturday not looking like a great day.

0:02:420:02:45

It'll be quite wet and windy, particularly for England and Wales,

0:02:450:02:48

but the rain is on the move -

0:02:480:02:50

something drier and brighter follows, but still with showers.

0:02:500:02:53

Then looking further ahead towards Easter Day itself,

0:02:530:02:56

the unsettled theme continues with low pressure to the north of the UK.

0:02:560:02:59

There'll be some dry spells but also some showers on Easter Day itself.

0:02:590:03:03

Then for Easter Monday,

0:03:030:03:04

the next area of low pressure is heading our way.

0:03:040:03:07

So through the Easter weekend the winds will be picking up,

0:03:070:03:10

it will be windy, with gales in places.

0:03:100:03:12

There'll be some rain at times, some showers,

0:03:120:03:14

but also some drier and brighter interludes.

0:03:140:03:17

All in all, it does look rather unsettled in the coming few days.

0:03:170:03:20

With all of that coming in from the Atlantic,

0:03:200:03:23

it's always going to be wettest and windiest in the west,

0:03:230:03:25

and still some chilly nights in the forecast, with a touch of frost.
