Hello, thanks for tuning in. The weather in the last few days

0:00:030:00:05

hasn't really changed an awful lot across the UK.

0:00:050:00:08

It's been beautiful and sunny across so many western areas of the UK.

0:00:080:00:10

Here's an example from Cornwall - sunny skies.

0:00:100:00:13

Eastern areas - a completely different story.

0:00:130:00:15

Overcast, cold and windy

0:00:150:00:16

with some spots of rain as well

0:00:160:00:18

and this cloud has been stuck here for many, many days,

0:00:180:00:21

but finally we are starting to see a change in the weather pattern

0:00:210:00:24

and all of this cloud is going to shift.

0:00:240:00:27

No more are we going to see this huge contrast between one city

0:00:270:00:30

and another that are just miles away.

0:00:300:00:33

The forecast for tonight and into

0:00:330:00:35

the early hours of Saturday

0:00:350:00:36

sees still a lot of cloud across the UK,

0:00:360:00:39

a lot of mist and murk as well.

0:00:390:00:40

This is actually sea fog lapping

0:00:400:00:42

onto some of the coastlines there

0:00:420:00:44

of eastern and south-eastern parts of the UK.

0:00:440:00:46

The west will probably remain fairly clear and temperatures will be

0:00:460:00:50

on the high side tonight, anywhere between 10-14 degrees.

0:00:500:00:53

The weekend is looking warm, there'll be some sunshine

0:00:530:00:56

and there's just the chance of catching a few heavy showers

0:00:560:00:58

during the weekend and even some thunderstorms,

0:00:580:01:00

as we'll find later into next week.

0:01:000:01:03

The morning picture looks something like this -

0:01:030:01:06

we have weather fronts crossing the country.

0:01:060:01:08

These weather fronts have been painfully slow-moving across the UK.

0:01:080:01:11

They're slap-bang in the centre

0:01:110:01:12

of the country during the course

0:01:120:01:14

of Saturday morning.

0:01:140:01:15

Lots of cloud associated with it,

0:01:150:01:17

mist and murk further east as well

0:01:170:01:19

and even some spots of drizzle.

0:01:190:01:20

The far west of the UK, maybe the tip of Cornwall there,

0:01:200:01:23

getting some sunshine first thing in the morning.

0:01:230:01:26

Then what's going to happen, basically,

0:01:260:01:27

is this weather front will very slowly move a little bit further

0:01:270:01:31

towards the west and a bit further towards the south

0:01:310:01:33

and finally it'll start to fall apart,

0:01:330:01:35

so all of this cloud will start to fall apart as well,

0:01:350:01:38

allowing for some sunny spells,

0:01:380:01:40

but the heat from the sunny spells,

0:01:400:01:42

with all of that moisture that's left over,

0:01:420:01:44

will actually generate a few showers, possibly across parts

0:01:440:01:47

of western Britain and also the south-east as well.

0:01:470:01:50

Temperatures will comfortably get up into the 20s for many of us

0:01:500:01:52

and in fact they'll keep on rising as we go through

0:01:520:01:55

the course of Sunday.

0:01:550:01:56

In fact, mid-20s across the south-east,

0:01:560:01:58

Yorkshire could even touch the mid-20s

0:01:580:02:00

and a very pleasant 20-21 there

0:02:000:02:03

for Belfast and Glasgow as well.

0:02:030:02:05

Also, a very sunny day.

0:02:050:02:06

Yesterday, we were looking at the jet stream.

0:02:060:02:08

This is another look at the jet stream for early next week

0:02:080:02:11

and we still have that kink in the jet stream there

0:02:110:02:13

with an area of low pressure

0:02:130:02:14

and ahead of that, we start to see warm air coming out of France.

0:02:140:02:17

In fact, it'll turn quite hot

0:02:170:02:19

across France this weekend into next week.

0:02:190:02:22

Some of that warmth will be wafting in our direction,

0:02:220:02:24

but it'll be very humid,

0:02:240:02:25

so there's a risk of some thunderstorms as well.

0:02:250:02:28

Temperatures look set to remain pretty high,

0:02:280:02:31

possibly even into the high 20s into next week.

0:02:310:02:34

It'll be very difficult predicting

0:02:340:02:36

exactly how warm it's going to get,

0:02:360:02:37

because it's all down

0:02:370:02:38

to the cloud cover and the thunderstorms.

0:02:380:02:41

If we get a lot of storms, temperatures won't be so high.

0:02:410:02:43

If we get more sunshine,

0:02:430:02:44

those temperatures can only climb

0:02:440:02:47

in that strong June sunshine

0:02:470:02:48

and all the humidity.

0:02:480:02:49

Here's an approximation of some of the storms

0:02:490:02:51

and where they could be during the course of Tuesday.

0:02:510:02:54

You can see they've migrated just that little bit further

0:02:540:02:56

towards the north as well, so that's Tuesday.

0:02:560:02:58

The outlook into the end of next week -

0:02:580:03:01

the jet stream kind of changes its orientation a bit

0:03:010:03:04

and we'll see this flow of slightly cooler air

0:03:040:03:07

coming off the Atlantic.

0:03:070:03:08

If not cool, then at least a bit fresher compared to what

0:03:080:03:11

we would have seen during this weekend

0:03:110:03:14

and the start of next week,

0:03:140:03:16

so thunderstorms are on the cards over the next week or so.

0:03:160:03:20

It'll stay warm and also it'll turn cooler eventually

0:03:200:03:24

into next weekend when that jet stream shifts its pattern.

0:03:240:03:28

That's it, thanks for watching.
