Hello. During Sunday, sunshine and warmth becoming more widespread | 0:00:03 | 0:00:06
across the UK. That makes a big change for eastern areas, | 0:00:06 | 0:00:08
some of which have been under cloud for a week now. | 0:00:08 | 0:00:11
You know, last week, the sunshine and warmth wasn't | 0:00:11 | 0:00:13
evenly distributed. In the east, with the cloud, | 0:00:13 | 0:00:16
just 11 or 12 degrees. As for western parts, you had an absolutely | 0:00:16 | 0:00:19
glorious week with plenty of sunshine - | 0:00:19 | 0:00:21
temperatures in the low 20s. | 0:00:21 | 0:00:22
Now, the reason for the improvement in the east is this weather front | 0:00:22 | 0:00:25
has moved through. It's cleared things up a bit and the clearer air | 0:00:25 | 0:00:28
has introduced more sunshine - a process that completes during | 0:00:28 | 0:00:31
Sunday - and it's going to feel warmer as a result. There is still a | 0:00:31 | 0:00:35
breeze coming in from the sea to some of these North Sea coasts. | 0:00:35 | 0:00:37
There is a risk of patchy low cloud. Does hold the temperature down a | 0:00:37 | 0:00:40
bit, compared with elsewhere, but if you get some sunshine, wherever you | 0:00:40 | 0:00:43
are across the UK, really pleasant, but for many, low to mid 20s. | 0:00:43 | 0:00:46
Risk of a late day shower/thunderstorm - | 0:00:46 | 0:00:48
southwest England, South Wales, | 0:00:48 | 0:00:50
the west of Northern Ireland. Cumbria - one or two into Scotland. | 0:00:50 | 0:00:53
Most of us will avoid them and stay dry and just have a | 0:00:53 | 0:00:56
glorious day, but you can see the contrasting temperatures between the | 0:00:56 | 0:00:59
bulk of the UK, and just right along this North Sea coast. | 0:00:59 | 0:01:02
Now, the picture for Monday, low pressure throughout this week is | 0:01:02 | 0:01:04
going to be sitting just to the west of us in the Atlantic, but it's | 0:01:04 | 0:01:07
beginning to throw up a bit of energy, Monday into Tuesday. | 0:01:07 | 0:01:11
That will just increase the potential | 0:01:11 | 0:01:13
for these showers and thunderstorms to | 0:01:13 | 0:01:15
break out across western parts during Monday, | 0:01:15 | 0:01:18
whereas the further east you are, you will stay dry, you'll get some | 0:01:18 | 0:01:22
sunshine. Wherever you are in the sunshine, it's going to feel very | 0:01:22 | 0:01:25
warm on Monday. It's also going to feel rather humid, as well. | 0:01:25 | 0:01:29
Still a bit cooler along North Sea coasts. | 0:01:29 | 0:01:31
This area of energy, this trough of low pressure, begins to push across | 0:01:31 | 0:01:34
the UK during Tuesday. What that means is the potential for catching | 0:01:34 | 0:01:38
a heavy - maybe torrential - downpour that could be thundery | 0:01:38 | 0:01:42
increases on Tuesday. | 0:01:42 | 0:01:44
But still, if you avoid those and you see some sunshine, it's going to | 0:01:44 | 0:01:47
feel very warm. It's on the sticky side, it is quite humid. | 0:01:47 | 0:01:51
Now, as we go from Tuesday into Wednesday, | 0:01:51 | 0:01:53
that trough of low pressure is beginning to ease away eastwards, | 0:01:53 | 0:01:56
and, behind it, another ridge of high pressure begins to nudge in. | 0:01:56 | 0:02:00
So during Wednesday, we begin to kill off some of these showers. | 0:02:00 | 0:02:03
They're less widespread, they are more isolated in nature, | 0:02:03 | 0:02:06
more of us will stay dry. It's a case of broken cloud, | 0:02:06 | 0:02:09
some occasional sunshine - temperatures may not be quite so | 0:02:09 | 0:02:12
high, but still, it will feel very | 0:02:12 | 0:02:14
pleasant when you're in the sunshine. | 0:02:14 | 0:02:15
And then by the time we get to Thursday, that high pressure is | 0:02:15 | 0:02:18
across us. This weather front is starting to edge closer to us. | 0:02:18 | 0:02:23
For western areas on Thursday, later in the day, you may see a bit more | 0:02:23 | 0:02:26
cloud. There's a potential for catching a shower. A lot of | 0:02:26 | 0:02:28
uncertainty about timing, though, at this stage, so that's something | 0:02:28 | 0:02:31
we'll keep you updated on. | 0:02:31 | 0:02:33
So let's sum up the weather for much of the week ahead. It's on the very | 0:02:33 | 0:02:37
warm side - the humid side, as well. There'll be some lovely sunshine | 0:02:37 | 0:02:40
around at times, but remember, particularly during the first half | 0:02:40 | 0:02:43
of the week, there will be a few of these heavy and possibly thundery | 0:02:43 | 0:02:47
downpours around. | 0:02:47 | 0:02:48
Then that takes us to the end of the week. | 0:02:48 | 0:02:50
Now, I've referenced the area of low pressure sitting to the west of us, | 0:02:50 | 0:02:54
patiently in the wings. Low pressure now starts to gradually push towards | 0:02:54 | 0:02:58
us and, as that happens, particularly into next weekend, | 0:02:58 | 0:03:02
things begin to turn more unsettled. | 0:03:02 | 0:03:03
There's a greater potential for seeing some rain across the west | 0:03:03 | 0:03:06
of the UK, where you've been quite dry, quite warm - | 0:03:06 | 0:03:09
gardeners and growers may well appreciate that - | 0:03:09 | 0:03:11
as low pressure comes in, the breeze begins to pick up, as well. | 0:03:11 | 0:03:14
And the process is gradual, but temperatures begin to ease down from | 0:03:14 | 0:03:18
the very warm side to something closer to normal for the time of | 0:03:18 | 0:03:21
year. We'll begin to lose some of that humidity, as well, as low | 0:03:21 | 0:03:24
pressure comes back. That's it for now. More, as ever, online. | 0:03:24 | 0:03:29
The voice you're hearing is mine. | 0:03:31 | 0:03:34
It was recorded last night after I had a few pints. | 0:03:34 | 0:03:37
I'm doing this to show that... | 0:03:37 | 0:03:39
(slurs) alcohol takes so long to pass through me body. | 0:03:39 | 0:03:43 |
