Hello. Sunday brought widespread sunshine to the UK,

0:00:030:00:06

but along the east coast, with the breeze off the sea,

0:00:060:00:08

despite the blue sky, temperatures struggled,

0:00:080:00:10

but in the west of the UK, very warm to hot again.

0:00:100:00:13

Porthmadog in Wales, 27.8 Celsius

0:00:130:00:15

and that's the highest temperature

0:00:150:00:17

the UK has seen so far this year.

0:00:170:00:19

The heat in the west,

0:00:190:00:20

coupled with a drier than average spring,

0:00:200:00:22

may explain why your garden's looking

0:00:220:00:24

a little bit dry at the moment.

0:00:240:00:25

Not a huge amount of rain in the forecast this week.

0:00:250:00:27

High pressure remains in control.

0:00:270:00:29

Your eyes may well be drawn to low pressure,

0:00:290:00:31

but it remains sitting to the west of us this week.

0:00:310:00:33

It can't stay there forever -

0:00:330:00:34

hint, there is a change in the longer term

0:00:340:00:36

and we'll get to that.

0:00:360:00:38

First, the next five days in detail, starting with Monday.

0:00:380:00:40

A bit of patchy low cloud

0:00:400:00:41

across eastern parts to begin the day.

0:00:410:00:43

A few early showers in southern England,

0:00:430:00:45

then for the afternoon,

0:00:450:00:46

scattered showers and thunderstorms

0:00:460:00:47

for western-most parts of the UK

0:00:470:00:49

and a big range of temperatures.

0:00:490:00:51

26, 27 again towards the west is possible,

0:00:510:00:54

but along this east coast, yet again,

0:00:540:00:56

even if you get to see some blue sky

0:00:560:00:58

through patchy low cloud,

0:00:580:00:59

your temperatures will be nowhere near

0:00:590:01:01

where they'll be elsewhere.

0:01:010:01:03

On Tuesday, there's this weather disturbance

0:01:030:01:05

working across the UK, so on Tuesday,

0:01:050:01:07

there is the greatest chance of catching

0:01:070:01:09

a shower or a thunderstorm,

0:01:090:01:11

initially in the west,

0:01:110:01:12

but that threat transferring further east

0:01:120:01:15

along with that weather disturbance as the day goes on.

0:01:150:01:18

Not everybody will see some wet weather.

0:01:180:01:19

Around any showers, plenty of dry and quite sunny

0:01:190:01:22

and very warm weather once again.

0:01:220:01:24

On Wednesday, as high pressure starts to nudge back in,

0:01:240:01:27

that shower threat diminishes.

0:01:270:01:28

It doesn't get killed off altogether -

0:01:280:01:30

Could still see the odd heavy downpour towards western parts.

0:01:300:01:33

The arrows indicating still that flow from the North Sea.

0:01:330:01:36

Could be a little bit stronger on Wednesday,

0:01:360:01:38

influencing those temperatures, so still that range,

0:01:380:01:41

but for much of the UK, the warmth is there

0:01:410:01:43

and the humidity.

0:01:430:01:45

Now, by Thursday, it's high pressure

0:01:450:01:46

just sitting across the UK.

0:01:460:01:48

Looks like the quietest day of the week,

0:01:480:01:50

maybe a light shower somewhere,

0:01:500:01:51

but the vast majority will be dry.

0:01:510:01:53

You can see the flow around that area of high pressure,

0:01:530:01:56

so we're looking at broken cloud, sunny spells.

0:01:560:01:59

Temperatures may not be quite so high

0:01:590:02:01

by the time we get to Thursday

0:02:010:02:02

then by Friday, we're looking to the west and to low pressure

0:02:020:02:05

starting to make a move,

0:02:050:02:07

along with some weather fronts our way.

0:02:070:02:09

Whenever high pressure breaks down

0:02:090:02:10

to be replaced with lower pressure,

0:02:100:02:12

a lot of doubt about the timing,

0:02:120:02:14

so don't look at this as something

0:02:140:02:15

that will necessarily happen exactly how it looks

0:02:150:02:17

by Friday, but the trend will be for something

0:02:170:02:20

cloudier and wetter eventually start to come our way from the west.

0:02:200:02:23

But for much of this week, the warmth

0:02:230:02:26

and humidity and some sunshine,

0:02:260:02:27

of course, with the exception

0:02:270:02:29

of those cooler North Sea coasts.

0:02:290:02:30

High pollen for much of the week as well,

0:02:300:02:32

the grass pollen season starting to ramp up.

0:02:320:02:34

That's a whole new set of people being affected.

0:02:340:02:36

The other part of the story this week will be the chance,

0:02:360:02:38

especially during the first half of the week,

0:02:380:02:40

of scattered showers and thunderstorms.

0:02:400:02:42

Some of those could be torrential,

0:02:420:02:44

not everybody will catch them.

0:02:440:02:45

The picture for next weekend -

0:02:450:02:47

low pressure now really making a move and pushing

0:02:470:02:49

those weather systems across us,

0:02:490:02:51

so things turning more unsettled.

0:02:510:02:53

That's the picture going into next week as well,

0:02:530:02:55

all driven by a stronger jet stream.

0:02:550:02:57

It has been quite quiet recently, and weak,

0:02:570:03:00

but that stronger jet stream across the Atlantic

0:03:000:03:02

bringing those wetter, windier conditions our way.

0:03:020:03:05

It does mean a bit of rain for the garden, though,

0:03:050:03:07

starting this weekend and into next week.

0:03:070:03:10

It'll be breezier too,

0:03:100:03:11

temperatures will start to come down,

0:03:110:03:13

so it's quite a change on the way.

0:03:130:03:15

I have to say, though, with the Atlantic flow taking over,

0:03:150:03:18

it's a westerly flow coming into the UK

0:03:180:03:20

and it does mean some of those eastern coastal parts

0:03:200:03:23

may well start to fare a bit better.

0:03:230:03:25

That's how it's looking in the longer term.

0:03:250:03:27

The forecast for where you are online. Bye-bye.
