Hello there. | 0:00:03 | 0:00:04
With no particularly strong jet stream blowing across the Atlantic | 0:00:04 | 0:00:07
at the moment, the weather patterns from day-to-day don't vary greatly. | 0:00:07 | 0:00:10
But in each individual location, | 0:00:10 | 0:00:12
there could be some stark contrasts from one day to the next. | 0:00:12 | 0:00:14
Now, we start with Wednesday. | 0:00:14 | 0:00:17
We've got a resurgence of humid air from the near Continent, | 0:00:17 | 0:00:20
to the south of this weather front. | 0:00:20 | 0:00:22
This weather front will divide that between something fresher, | 0:00:22 | 0:00:25
brighter, with just occasional showers through Wednesday, | 0:00:25 | 0:00:27
but on the front itself, which will meander between south-west | 0:00:27 | 0:00:30
England, Wales, the Midlands, Lincolnshire and the Wash, | 0:00:30 | 0:00:34
on that we will see some outbreaks of rain which every now and again | 0:00:34 | 0:00:36
could push a little further north into northern parts of England. | 0:00:36 | 0:00:39
Temperatures don't look vastly different from one | 0:00:39 | 0:00:42
side of the country to the next, OK, warmer towards the south and east, | 0:00:42 | 0:00:44
but it's here where it's increasingly muggy later in the day, | 0:00:44 | 0:00:47
that humid air really taking hold at the moment | 0:00:47 | 0:00:50
across France, and by the end of Wednesday afternoon it's across | 0:00:50 | 0:00:52
northern France we could see cells of severe thunderstorms develop. | 0:00:52 | 0:00:55
The general flow is a south-westerly one, | 0:00:55 | 0:00:58
so that'll take those through Wednesday evening | 0:00:58 | 0:01:00
and Wednesday night towards the south-east and East Anglia. | 0:01:00 | 0:01:03
Like we saw the other week, some of those could be quite torrential. | 0:01:03 | 0:01:06
Some of you will avoid them altogether, but in some spots | 0:01:06 | 0:01:09
you could see as much as | 0:01:09 | 0:01:10
half-a-month's rainfall in the space of an hour. | 0:01:10 | 0:01:12
As you look on Wednesday evening, you can see those storms | 0:01:12 | 0:01:14
work their way through. | 0:01:14 | 0:01:17
The exact position of them could change from one hour to the next. | 0:01:17 | 0:01:20
They will rumble out into the North Sea though, I think, | 0:01:20 | 0:01:22
as we start Thursday, one or two still close to Kent, | 0:01:22 | 0:01:25
but into Thursday most will be dry, | 0:01:25 | 0:01:27
one or two isolated showers in Scotland and Northern Ireland. | 0:01:27 | 0:01:29
The best of the sunshine away from East Anglia and the south-east, | 0:01:29 | 0:01:32
but you'll notice temperatures here still in the mid-20s. | 0:01:32 | 0:01:35
And some very sultry air to go with it. | 0:01:35 | 0:01:37
Which hangs around into Thursday evening, | 0:01:37 | 0:01:40
we could see a repeat performance of storms moving | 0:01:40 | 0:01:42
up from the near Continent during the evening, lasting the night | 0:01:42 | 0:01:45
and only slowly clearing into Friday morning. | 0:01:45 | 0:01:47
By Friday morning though, we start to see more in the way of | 0:01:47 | 0:01:50
showers across the western half of the country. | 0:01:50 | 0:01:52
Generally, more cloud across the UK on Friday, those showers | 0:01:52 | 0:01:54
becoming slow-moving, heavy and thundery in the west this time. | 0:01:54 | 0:01:57
Not as severe as those ones we've seen in the east, | 0:01:57 | 0:01:59
but they could get very close to Glastonbury. | 0:01:59 | 0:02:01
Maybe lasting into the evening before fading away. | 0:02:01 | 0:02:04
There are signs of a ridge of high pressure trying to build | 0:02:04 | 0:02:06
in by Saturday. | 0:02:06 | 0:02:07
So, the showers you see on here should be few and far between. | 0:02:07 | 0:02:10
And should be a little bit lighter than those on Friday, | 0:02:10 | 0:02:13
many of you should have a reasonably dry day. | 0:02:13 | 0:02:16
And there you go, the Azores High trying to build in | 0:02:16 | 0:02:18
as we finish Saturday and go into Sunday. | 0:02:18 | 0:02:20
Getting squeezed out a little bit as it recedes into Sunday | 0:02:20 | 0:02:23
itself, allowing these weather fronts to | 0:02:23 | 0:02:25
push into the north-west of Scotland. | 0:02:25 | 0:02:26
Bringing in a bit more persistent rain and gusty wind. | 0:02:26 | 0:02:29
A few showers can't be ruled out from the south and east. | 0:02:29 | 0:02:31
But I think in much of England and Wales - you will be into some | 0:02:31 | 0:02:34
drier weather by Sunday. | 0:02:34 | 0:02:36
And pleasant enough in the sunshine after a misty | 0:02:36 | 0:02:38
and foggy start in places. | 0:02:38 | 0:02:40
So the high has receded for Sunday | 0:02:40 | 0:02:42
but by the time we get into Monday, | 0:02:42 | 0:02:44
it could well start to build in once again, | 0:02:44 | 0:02:47
and in doing so, the weather front as it tries to work its way south | 0:02:47 | 0:02:50
and east across the country, fizzles out into nothing more than showers. | 0:02:50 | 0:02:53
And that pattern of the high pressure extending into | 0:02:53 | 0:02:56
the UK and relaxing away, will continue as we go through next week. | 0:02:56 | 0:03:00
So it's going to produce a fairly variable pattern, | 0:03:00 | 0:03:02
nothing drastic though, from one day to the next. | 0:03:02 | 0:03:05
Southern areas always closest to that area of high pressure | 0:03:05 | 0:03:07
but every now and again as that pushes away, | 0:03:07 | 0:03:10
the showers which will be more prone to the north and west will | 0:03:10 | 0:03:12
work their way across other parts of the country, | 0:03:12 | 0:03:15
whether it's just individual showers or a spell of slightly longer rain. | 0:03:15 | 0:03:19
But before you've seen them arrive, | 0:03:19 | 0:03:21
they will be almost gone again, high pressure builds in once more. | 0:03:21 | 0:03:25
So it's a constantly changing pattern throughout next week | 0:03:25 | 0:03:28
and we'll keep you updated every step of the way. | 0:03:28 | 0:03:30 |
