Hello there. Well, Tuesday was the hottest day of the year so far,

0:00:030:00:06

30 degrees or more quite widely. 34 was recorded in Oxfordshire.

0:00:060:00:10

But it all began to break down through Tuesday evening,

0:00:100:00:12

and those thundery downpours continued on into Wednesday morning.

0:00:120:00:16

Across more northern parts of the UK,

0:00:160:00:18

there was frequent thunder and lightning.

0:00:180:00:20

Further south, a different story -

0:00:200:00:21

we saw some sunshine for many southern counties, and just the west

0:00:210:00:25

of London and Heathrow Wednesday afternoon, they got to 31 Celsius.

0:00:250:00:29

There is a downward trend in those temperatures

0:00:290:00:31

and in the overnight temperatures, as well.

0:00:310:00:33

It should be a bit more comfortable for sleeping tonight.

0:00:330:00:35

A reasonable day across many parts of the UK through the

0:00:350:00:38

day on Thursday.

0:00:380:00:40

Maybe a bit more cloud across some western areas.

0:00:400:00:42

Parts of Wales, the south-west of England might see fleeting showers -

0:00:420:00:45

not thunderstorms, just run-of-the-mill showers -

0:00:450:00:47

and there'll be drier, brighter interludes.

0:00:470:00:49

We'll see temperatures of 20 or 21 degrees.

0:00:490:00:51

It should be a dry afternoon across East Anglia,

0:00:510:00:53

the south-east, much of the Midlands,

0:00:530:00:55

those temperatures down by a good few degrees, but still, 25 degrees

0:00:550:00:58

is warm enough.

0:00:580:00:59

Head into northern England and there's patchy cloud, sunny

0:00:590:01:02

spells and one or two showers, but a lot of dry weather to be had

0:01:020:01:05

and we're into the low 20s for most places.

0:01:050:01:08

Northern Ireland will be a focal point for wetter,

0:01:080:01:10

breezier weather, but much of Scotland's dry

0:01:100:01:12

through the afternoon, just the odd shower here and there.

0:01:120:01:14

19 or so degrees in Inverness and in Glasgow.

0:01:140:01:17

Through the evening, that wetter, breezier weather in Northern Ireland

0:01:170:01:20

pushes across parts of Scotland,

0:01:200:01:22

outbreaks of rain across the western fringes of England and Wales.

0:01:220:01:25

By dawn on Friday, most major towns and cities are seeing temperatures

0:01:250:01:29

about 16, maybe 17 or 18 towards the southern corner.

0:01:290:01:33

Into Friday itself, we've got this weak weather front

0:01:330:01:36

draped across Scotland initially and these western fringes.

0:01:360:01:39

It'll be moving slowly eastwards and fragmenting,

0:01:390:01:42

but ahead of that, across the Midlands and eastern England,

0:01:420:01:44

it starts on a dry and bright note, but as temperatures rise,

0:01:440:01:47

late morning, early afternoon, cloud amounts will

0:01:470:01:50

increase and we'll see a few sharp showers developing.

0:01:500:01:52

It looks like things will brighten up in Scotland into the afternoon

0:01:520:01:55

but outbreaks of rain across Wales and the south-west of England.

0:01:550:01:58

Temperatures will be in that range of 19 or so in Glasgow

0:01:580:02:00

to 24, 25 in the London area.

0:02:000:02:03

And then we're really looking out to the Atlantic through the weekend,

0:02:030:02:07

because we've got this big area of low pressure in the north Atlantic,

0:02:070:02:10

and associated weather fronts will be heading our way.

0:02:100:02:13

The breeze will pick up in Northern Ireland on Saturday

0:02:130:02:15

with a fair bit of cloud and outbreaks of rain

0:02:150:02:17

and some into the western side of Scotland.

0:02:170:02:19

Ahead of that, it's largely dry, sunshine, but one or two showers

0:02:190:02:23

and 26 or 27 degrees, so a bit of a warmer day, then, on Saturday.

0:02:230:02:27

By Sunday, we've still got this low drifting towards the north of

0:02:270:02:31

the UK and further weather fronts heading our way, so cloud and

0:02:310:02:34

outbreaks of rain getting into Wales, the south-west of England.

0:02:340:02:37

Some of that rain could be on the heavy side.

0:02:370:02:39

Further east, largely dry until later on in the day.

0:02:390:02:43

And then into the new week, well,

0:02:430:02:44

this low-pressure system just to the south of Iceland is drifting

0:02:440:02:47

ever closer towards the north of the UK, and we've got

0:02:470:02:50

a trailing weather front just slow to clear from the southern corner.

0:02:500:02:53

But it should do. Then it brightens up, sunny spells and showers,

0:02:530:02:57

more of a breeze towards the north of the UK, and that breeze

0:02:570:02:59

will be dragging in a fair bit of cloud and some showers.

0:02:590:03:02

Now, as you go through Tuesday, Wednesday, the middle part of

0:03:020:03:05

next week, it looks like we'll see a westerly jet stream and low-pressure

0:03:050:03:10

systems will be sitting there across more northern parts of the UK.

0:03:100:03:13

The closer you are to that low, it looks as if we're going to

0:03:130:03:16

see some cloud and outbreaks of rain, a bit of a breeze, as well.

0:03:160:03:19

The rain will be on and off, so not a complete wash-out.

0:03:190:03:21

The further away from that area of low pressure you are, particularly

0:03:210:03:24

towards the southern corner, it should be largely dry and bright.

0:03:240:03:27

But even here, we can't rule out rain at times. Bye for now.

0:03:350:03:38

I feel a bit emotional, but I'm good.

0:03:380:03:40

I'm absolutely over the moon.
