The weather continues to cool off a little bit,

0:00:030:00:05

particularly across the south-east of the country,

0:00:050:00:07

where today we recorded 26 degrees Celsius

0:00:070:00:10

in East Anglia, in Suffolk.

0:00:100:00:12

The previous day was around 30 or so.

0:00:120:00:15

But it does look as though some of those temperatures will be

0:00:150:00:18

creeping up a little bit again as we head into the weekend.

0:00:180:00:20

The average for this time of the year across the south-east

0:00:200:00:23

is around 22-24 degrees.

0:00:230:00:24

For most other parts of the country in the west, it's back down

0:00:240:00:28

to what it should be this time of the year,

0:00:280:00:30

so mostly around the 20-degree mark.

0:00:300:00:33

This is the satellite picture from earlier on.

0:00:330:00:35

You can see how cloud started to develop across parts of the UK.

0:00:350:00:38

We had a few showers and we'll continue to get a few showers

0:00:380:00:42

over the next day or so,

0:00:420:00:43

so here's Friday's weather forecast.

0:00:430:00:45

In fact, one or two showers on Friday

0:00:450:00:48

could turn out to be particularly heavy,

0:00:480:00:50

especially across eastern areas of the UK.

0:00:500:00:52

It doesn't look like there'll be too many of them around

0:00:520:00:55

in Northern Ireland, maybe the odd light one,

0:00:550:00:57

but it's across eastern areas, from eastern Scotland

0:00:570:01:00

through, say, East Yorkshire down into Lincolnshire.

0:01:000:01:03

Particularly north of London here, around East Anglia,

0:01:030:01:06

there could be some very big downpours,

0:01:060:01:08

some of them very slow-moving, so they'll last a little while.

0:01:080:01:11

There could be quite a bit of lightning with that

0:01:110:01:13

and also some hail, but that is going to be the exception.

0:01:130:01:16

For the vast majority of the UK,

0:01:160:01:17

Friday is looking absolutely fine, so for most of us,

0:01:170:01:20

if you're planning to enjoy your Friday evening outdoors,

0:01:200:01:22

it's not looking bad at all and I think most of us will have

0:01:220:01:25

a pleasant end to the week

0:01:250:01:28

with pleasant sunsets out there,

0:01:280:01:31

as is the case most of the time.

0:01:310:01:33

Now, for Saturday,

0:01:330:01:34

we're expecting a couple of weather fronts to cross the country.

0:01:340:01:36

This particular one here is going to introduce some thicker cloud

0:01:360:01:39

to western areas of the UK,

0:01:390:01:41

so certainly Saturday looks pretty cloudy

0:01:410:01:43

and damp there in Northern Ireland, western parts of Scotland

0:01:430:01:45

and eventually some of that rain will reach north-western areas,

0:01:450:01:48

whereas further south and east,

0:01:480:01:50

it's going to be much brighter with a few showers,

0:01:500:01:52

but look at those temperatures once again on the rise.

0:01:520:01:55

I wouldn't be surprised if we're not far off 29,

0:01:550:01:57

28-29 degrees there in London.

0:01:570:01:59

The same pattern continues into Sunday - basically,

0:01:590:02:03

the further west and north you are,

0:02:030:02:05

the more likely you are to get some cloud and the possibility of

0:02:050:02:08

catching some rain, but that wind still coming in from the south

0:02:080:02:11

across south-eastern areas of the country,

0:02:110:02:13

so temperatures will remain on the hot side.

0:02:130:02:16

For most of us, quite a bit fresher.

0:02:160:02:18

Let's summarise the all-important weekend -

0:02:180:02:20

it is still going to remain fairly hot in the south-east,

0:02:200:02:22

if not warmer than it has been in the last day or so,

0:02:220:02:25

but some rain is likely across the fresher west.

0:02:250:02:28

Into Monday, we are expecting some weak weather fronts

0:02:280:02:32

to cross the country, so that means a few spots of rain on the cards

0:02:320:02:36

and in fact it does look as though, most of next week,

0:02:360:02:39

things aren't really going to be changing an awful lot.

0:02:390:02:41

Temperatures will be close to average, around 23-24 degrees

0:02:410:02:45

in the south-east, in the teens or around 20 further west.

0:02:450:02:49

The reason why not a lot is going to change is because the jet stream

0:02:490:02:53

is going to be very, very weak.

0:02:530:02:54

It really is going to be a very weak affair here.

0:02:540:02:58

Low pressure, yes, close to the north-west of the country,

0:02:580:03:02

but when we get a weak jet stream, any weather that does form,

0:03:020:03:05

that does happen in the Atlantic,

0:03:050:03:06

doesn't tend to be pushed in our direction,

0:03:060:03:09

certainly no vigorous weather systems developing,

0:03:090:03:11

so all we're going to see is weather fronts

0:03:110:03:14

pootling across the Atlantic

0:03:140:03:15

and just bringing us a little bit of cloud

0:03:150:03:18

and some spots of rain, particularly to north-western areas,

0:03:180:03:21

whereas further south and east, it does look as though

0:03:210:03:24

we're going to keep that dry and bright and relatively warm weather.

0:03:240:03:28

That's it, you're up to date.

The War On Waste is back and your help has made a big difference.
