Hello, again. It's time to take a look further ahead with the weather

0:00:030:00:06

ahead to next week and beyond, even.

0:00:060:00:08

But first of all, let's cover the weekend to come.

0:00:080:00:12

Now, Friday, in fact the latter part of the week was pretty soggy across

0:00:120:00:15

the northern half of the country because of this weather front.

0:00:150:00:17

By the time we get to Saturday morning,

0:00:170:00:19

it will have drifted southwards.

0:00:190:00:20

It's running into an area of high pressure

0:00:200:00:22

so it will weaken significantly.

0:00:220:00:24

Not much rain left on it but it will introduce more cloud

0:00:240:00:26

than we had on Friday in southern areas.

0:00:260:00:28

But there will, for all of us, be some sunshine this weekend,

0:00:280:00:31

and it should be mostly dry, and as a consequence,

0:00:310:00:33

as the winds fall, particularly Sunday, it will feel quite warm.

0:00:330:00:36

It could be a little bit drab first thing in the morning

0:00:360:00:39

in southern areas with the odd spot of drizzle.

0:00:390:00:41

And that may well linger around some coasts, the Bristol Channel,

0:00:410:00:43

the Irish Sea, for example.

0:00:430:00:45

But for the vast majority, it looks like a nice day.

0:00:450:00:47

Much drier and brighter for Scotland, for Northern Ireland

0:00:470:00:50

with just the occasional shower and a breeze, westerly breeze.

0:00:500:00:54

And even further south, we will have breaks in cloud.

0:00:540:00:56

Most certainly, it will be dry and bright

0:00:560:00:58

for the most part and therefore, it will feel warm.

0:00:580:01:01

We might see 24 or 25 in a few spots.

0:01:010:01:03

And the fine weather lasts into Saturday evening.

0:01:030:01:06

And, then, overnight into Sunday, it could actually be quite chilly,

0:01:060:01:10

considering that Friday night,

0:01:100:01:11

quite a mild one with all that cloud around.

0:01:110:01:15

So, 13 to 15, those are the towns and cities,

0:01:150:01:17

a little bit cooler out in the countryside.

0:01:170:01:19

There could even be mist and fog

0:01:190:01:20

first thing Sunday morning if you're up early enough.

0:01:200:01:22

Otherwise, Sunday looks like a nice day, the best of the sunshine

0:01:220:01:25

most likely in the morning and come the afternoon around the coast

0:01:250:01:28

because we'll get little bit of fair-weather cloud building in

0:01:280:01:31

inland during the day.

0:01:310:01:33

Just the odd shower around but much lighter winds so with comparable

0:01:330:01:36

temperatures to Saturday, probably feeling a little bit warmer.

0:01:360:01:39

And, of course, it's strong sunshine, whether it's 17 or 23.

0:01:390:01:42

And that's because we've got high pressure building.

0:01:420:01:45

And that high pressure stays with us for the first part of the new week.

0:01:450:01:48

It's keeping these weather fronts and low pressures out at bay

0:01:480:01:52

over the Atlantic and it's also allowing us to draw in

0:01:520:01:54

a southerly wind so that's why we'll see the heat increasing

0:01:540:01:57

and the temperatures rising.

0:01:570:01:59

So, Monday, we are likely to see more sunshine than we will

0:01:590:02:02

see over the weekend, and again, those showers kept at bay,

0:02:020:02:05

temperatures creeping up further north.

0:02:050:02:08

The weather fronts do creep a little closer on Tuesday

0:02:080:02:10

so there is the chance of one or two breaking out, showers wise,

0:02:100:02:13

in the West, but all the time it's the southerly flow that's

0:02:130:02:16

influencing the bulk of the UK,

0:02:160:02:18

so Tuesday could well be the peak in the temperatures.

0:02:180:02:20

It'll be the second time this year that we get towards 30,

0:02:200:02:23

possibly reaching 30 in a few spots.

0:02:230:02:26

And it's all coming from the south but it does look as though

0:02:260:02:29

it will be a brief affair, not like the heat that we're seeing

0:02:290:02:31

across Iberia at the moment, 40 in Madrid.

0:02:310:02:34

The heat across France as well.

0:02:340:02:35

As I say, it is most likely in southern and then eastern areas

0:02:350:02:39

and only for a short time because we do have those weather fronts

0:02:390:02:41

gathering out in the Atlantic.

0:02:410:02:43

So, Tuesday looks like the most likely day that we will see

0:02:430:02:46

that sort of temperature.

0:02:460:02:47

And thereafter,

0:02:470:02:49

the high pressure that's keeping things settled and building the heat

0:02:490:02:52

may well move away,

0:02:520:02:53

allowing that low pressure to move in and culminate in

0:02:530:02:56

the thundery breakdown, and because of all the heat,

0:02:560:02:58

we'll see some really big torrential downpours and

0:02:580:03:01

thunderstorms which is often the case here in the UK -

0:03:010:03:03

two fine days and a thunderstorm.

0:03:030:03:05

That looks like it will be the middle of the week but it is

0:03:050:03:08

always a messy time when we get quite blustery winds and

0:03:080:03:10

those downpours before eventually we think towards next weekend,

0:03:100:03:14

the high pressure, the Azores high may return,

0:03:140:03:17

this time because it's Atlantic winds feeding in across the UK,

0:03:170:03:20

we won't see a return of the heat and the humidity.

0:03:200:03:22

So, yes, briefly hot and dry to start, turning thundery,

0:03:220:03:26

then fresher later and hopefully drier towards next weekend.
