Hello there. Friday was a glorious day across much of the country.

0:00:010:00:04

Some warm sunshine, lots of dry weather, too.

0:00:040:00:07

Things are changing somewhat

0:00:070:00:09

as we head through the course of the weekend.

0:00:090:00:11

So, Saturday - initially, we'll see some outbreaks of rain across

0:00:110:00:14

southern counties of England drifting a little bit

0:00:140:00:17

further north through the day.

0:00:170:00:18

Uncertainty surrounding exactly where we'll see the outbreaks

0:00:180:00:21

of rain, but it's most likely across parts of Lincolnshire,

0:00:210:00:23

East Anglia, the Midlands, down towards the south-west.

0:00:230:00:27

Towards the south-east of that, it should brighten up, 25 degrees,

0:00:270:00:30

Fresher with some sunshine towards the north and the west.

0:00:300:00:33

Now, moving on to the second half of the weekend,

0:00:330:00:35

low pressure's still with us, drifting gradually northwards

0:00:350:00:38

and eastwards, so I think through the day on Sunday,

0:00:380:00:41

we could well start off with some of that rain once again.

0:00:410:00:43

Don't take the positioning too literally but it's likely to be

0:00:430:00:46

across parts of North England, perhaps North Wales.

0:00:460:00:49

An improving picture, though, later on during Sunday.

0:00:490:00:51

So, the main bulk of rain clears

0:00:510:00:53

leaving sunshine and scattered showers.

0:00:530:00:55

Some of the showers could be on the heavy side in the afternoon towards

0:00:550:00:58

the south, and temperatures around about 18-23 degrees for most places.

0:00:580:01:02

And, then, as we roll through Sunday night and on into Monday,

0:01:020:01:05

which is a bank holiday across most parts of the UK,

0:01:050:01:08

not in Scotland, but what we are going to be seeing is this

0:01:080:01:10

ridge of high pressure building across the country.

0:01:100:01:13

So, Monday looks like a much quieter day,

0:01:130:01:16

light winds, really, wherever you are, lots of dry weather,

0:01:160:01:18

couldn't rule out one or two showers

0:01:180:01:20

more particularly for some southern and eastern counties,

0:01:200:01:23

but they should fade away later on.

0:01:230:01:25

So, all in all, it's shaping up to be a fine day for most places.

0:01:250:01:28

16 in Aberdeen, up to 24 in London once again.

0:01:280:01:31

So, that area of high pressure, that's going to be

0:01:310:01:34

a big player in our weather throughout the week ahead.

0:01:340:01:37

During Tuesday, it holds on across much of the country,

0:01:370:01:39

so, Tuesday, another fine day for many places.

0:01:390:01:42

You can see this weather front just lurking behind me here.

0:01:420:01:44

That will try to push in towards the north-west so,

0:01:440:01:47

perhaps, the breeze picks up here, thickening cloud, but,

0:01:470:01:49

for much of the UK, Tuesday, warm with some sunshine.

0:01:490:01:52

Looking through into Wednesday now.

0:01:520:01:54

We've still got that front with us just trying to nudge in

0:01:540:01:56

a little bit further. It's bumping into high pressure,

0:01:560:01:59

so it will weaken as it moves its way south-eastwards.

0:01:590:02:02

Across much of England and Wales, it's still pretty warm.

0:02:020:02:05

24 degrees or so, lots of dry weather, too.

0:02:050:02:07

But that band of rain will gradually move south eastwards.

0:02:070:02:10

So, through the middle of next week, then,

0:02:100:02:12

the high pressure tends to slip away for a while towards the south,

0:02:120:02:15

allowing those weather fronts to bring some wet and some

0:02:150:02:17

windy weather progressively further south and east.

0:02:170:02:20

But it looks like the high wins out as we head towards the latter

0:02:200:02:22

part of next week, building further north across the country,

0:02:220:02:25

keeping the weather fronts towards the north-west.

0:02:250:02:28

But, at times, we will see some wetter and some windy weather

0:02:280:02:31

in the north-west for Northern Ireland, Scotland, too.

0:02:310:02:33

Further towards the south-east,

0:02:330:02:35

typically some sunshine and some drier weather.

0:02:350:02:38

Now, further ahead,

0:02:380:02:40

so this is looking at next weekend and beyond now,

0:02:400:02:42

in the western Atlantic, there's this deep area of low pressure,

0:02:420:02:45

Gaston, it will form into a hurricane for a time

0:02:450:02:48

before weakening, and then it's going to get caught up

0:02:480:02:50

in our jet stream, which means moving its way

0:02:500:02:53

gradually eastwards across the Atlantic,

0:02:530:02:55

heading somewhere near the UK.

0:02:550:02:57

But there is considerable uncertainty about where this

0:02:570:03:00

ex-hurricane will head.

0:03:000:03:01

It may well push further north, up towards Iceland,

0:03:010:03:04

introducing a ridge of high pressure and warm weather.

0:03:040:03:06

But it could well dive a little bit further south down towards

0:03:060:03:09

the Bay of Biscay towards Iberia, bringing some drier weather,

0:03:090:03:12

but it's slightly cooler.

0:03:120:03:14

Or it could head smack bang towards the shores of the UK.

0:03:140:03:17

So, the outlook really for unsettled weather towards the north-west

0:03:170:03:20

of the UK, warmest and driest in the south-east.

0:03:200:03:23

We'll keep you posted on potential impacts of that storm Gaston

0:03:230:03:27

over the next few days.
