Hello. This week has been driven along

0:00:020:00:03

with a fairly consistent weather pattern -

0:00:030:00:05

early morning frost and fog lifting away

0:00:050:00:07

to allow for some sunny spells

0:00:070:00:09

and certainly some dry, decent weather.

0:00:090:00:11

And in fact, we were topping and tailing the country on Friday

0:00:110:00:14

with some sunshine - a beautiful story across the Northern Isles

0:00:140:00:18

and, as you can see, into Cornwall as well.

0:00:180:00:20

Beautiful spells of sunshine.

0:00:200:00:22

Sandwiched in between the two, however, there was early morning fog

0:00:220:00:26

and certainly some cloud that sat throughout the day

0:00:260:00:28

with a few nuisance showers across much of eastern England.

0:00:280:00:32

I've just pretty much described the majority of the month so far -

0:00:320:00:35

in fact, most of the rain this month has been across eastern fringes.

0:00:350:00:40

Further west it has been very dry indeed -

0:00:400:00:43

we've hardly seen any significant rainfall so far this month.

0:00:430:00:47

And it doesn't look as though

0:00:470:00:48

we're going to see much change as we move into the weekend.

0:00:480:00:51

Yes, we could start off with some patchy fog and some frost,

0:00:510:00:55

but some decent dry weather in the story,

0:00:550:00:58

some sunny spells coming through, and just a scattering of showers

0:00:580:01:01

running in off North Sea coasts, which may well drift

0:01:010:01:03

a little further inland.

0:01:030:01:05

Top temperatures of about 10-15 degrees,

0:01:050:01:07

slightly below where they should be for this time of year.

0:01:070:01:10

As we go through Saturday night we continue to see clearer skies

0:01:100:01:14

and there is the possibility, with lighter winds inland,

0:01:140:01:17

of seeing more stubborn, dense fog patches around

0:01:170:01:20

first thing on Sunday morning.

0:01:200:01:22

It's going to be another chilly start, a grey, drab story -

0:01:220:01:25

whether it's fog or low cloud, it's not going to be very pleasant.

0:01:250:01:29

But conditions will improve.

0:01:290:01:31

The fog will lift, some sunshine come through,

0:01:310:01:33

and again, a dry theme. But this area of low pressure,

0:01:330:01:36

well, that will increase the wind strength down to the south-west

0:01:360:01:39

and eventually by the end of Sunday bring some rain.

0:01:390:01:42

But you can see on Sunday, not a bad story.

0:01:420:01:45

If you've got outdoor plans,

0:01:450:01:46

I don't think you'll be disappointed with this weather theme.

0:01:460:01:49

9-14 degrees, you'll need a couple of extra layers, perhaps.

0:01:490:01:53

So as we move out of Sunday into Monday,

0:01:530:01:56

there is the potential for that low pressure

0:01:560:01:58

to bring some more persistent rain for a time,

0:01:580:02:00

but only into southern areas,

0:02:000:02:02

and again, it's not expected to last.

0:02:020:02:05

So it will bring some rain, some of it heavy for a time,

0:02:050:02:08

and then that will weaken off substantially on Monday.

0:02:080:02:10

So there's going to be outbreaks of showery rain

0:02:100:02:12

through South Wales and southern England,

0:02:120:02:14

but exactly where that's going to be sitting

0:02:140:02:17

is still open to some debate.

0:02:170:02:19

But as we move out of Monday into Tuesday,

0:02:190:02:22

high pressure set to build across the country,

0:02:220:02:24

and that's going to push weather fronts in to the north and west,

0:02:240:02:27

so we could see a slightly more mobile situation

0:02:270:02:30

into the extreme north-west of the country.

0:02:300:02:32

Here, where we've seen some beautiful weather of late,

0:02:320:02:35

it will turn wetter and windier.

0:02:350:02:36

So on Wednesday, more significant rainfall

0:02:360:02:38

into Scotland and Northern Ireland.

0:02:380:02:40

Further south it stays largely fine and dry -

0:02:400:02:43

12-15 degrees the high.

0:02:430:02:46

So that high pressure looks likely to be the feature

0:02:460:02:49

as we move through the middle of the week.

0:02:490:02:51

However, it is going to change a little.

0:02:510:02:53

We lose that mobile, brief mobile flow,

0:02:530:02:57

as that high pressure starts to build,

0:02:570:02:59

so the lows that we've seen bringing the wet and windy weather

0:02:590:03:01

into the north-west through the middle of the week will ease away,

0:03:010:03:04

the high pressure builds

0:03:040:03:06

and becomes the driving force in the weather story once more.

0:03:060:03:10

So it looks as though we could close out the month of October

0:03:100:03:14

pretty much as the month has been.

0:03:140:03:15

Not much change around - some morning fog and frost,

0:03:150:03:19

but largely dry,

0:03:190:03:20

with some beautiful, if we're lucky, autumn sunshine.

0:03:200:03:23

At least the trees will start to look really quite splendid.

0:03:230:03:27

Enjoy your weekend.
