Hello. The weather for the week ahead

0:00:020:00:03

is starting off on quite a slow note.

0:00:030:00:05

Then we get some stronger winds, more mobility towards the end

0:00:050:00:08

of next week, before high pressure comes into play

0:00:080:00:11

over the weekend.

0:00:110:00:12

This is what we have at the moment, though.

0:00:120:00:14

Sunday morning sees some mist, fog,

0:00:140:00:17

low cloud slowly lifting as the breeze freshens.

0:00:170:00:19

That easterly still introducing a few showers,

0:00:190:00:22

mainly to eastern Scotland and north-east England.

0:00:220:00:25

But a largely dry day for western Scotland,

0:00:250:00:27

some sunshine after the chilly start,

0:00:270:00:29

but feeling cold in eastern Scotland

0:00:290:00:31

with that breeze and a lot of cloud

0:00:310:00:32

and showers and generally across the northern half of the UK

0:00:320:00:35

temperatures will be lower than they were on Saturday,

0:00:350:00:37

but not a bad day for Northern Ireland.

0:00:370:00:39

Maybe not as many showers across northern England

0:00:390:00:42

and south of here after that grey, boggy morning,

0:00:420:00:45

we should see it brightening up

0:00:450:00:47

as the breeze freshens into the afternoon.

0:00:470:00:48

Not many showers across southern areas,

0:00:480:00:50

but there is some rain lurking in the channel

0:00:500:00:52

and that will spill its way northwards,

0:00:520:00:54

some showery rain chiefly to affect

0:00:540:00:56

the south-west of England overnight.

0:00:560:00:58

Ahead of it, still a few showers for eastern Scotland,

0:00:580:01:01

the far north-east of England,

0:01:010:01:02

but away from here, it will be quite chilly.

0:01:020:01:04

A pinch of frost again possible.

0:01:040:01:06

One or two mist and fog patches as well.

0:01:060:01:09

So that's how we start the new week, then.

0:01:090:01:11

We've got this area of low pressure

0:01:110:01:13

not far away from Spain, actually.

0:01:130:01:15

It's a long way away, but it's throwing these weather fronts

0:01:150:01:18

our way, bringing with it the chance of some showery rain.

0:01:180:01:21

Further north, we've still got the easterly breezes.

0:01:210:01:24

Any frost and fog lifting,

0:01:240:01:26

some sunshine for northern areas.

0:01:260:01:27

A chance of this showery rain, though, and still some uncertainty

0:01:270:01:30

drifting northwards, perhaps getting into south Wales,

0:01:300:01:33

maybe the south Midlands later on in the day.

0:01:330:01:36

Elsewhere, though, a lot of dry weather,

0:01:360:01:37

fewer showers in eastern Scotland,

0:01:370:01:39

some sunshine and temperatures again 10-11 in the north,

0:01:390:01:42

possibly 14 in the south where we'll have much more cloud

0:01:420:01:45

and the chance of those showers.

0:01:450:01:47

Everything sort of pulls away, really, though, on Tuesday.

0:01:470:01:50

Very slack air flow.

0:01:500:01:51

That means where you do break the cloud, you'll get mist and fog.

0:01:510:01:54

That low pressure's moving away.

0:01:540:01:56

There's another one approaching the far north-west later on,

0:01:560:01:58

so a fairly quiet day.

0:01:580:02:00

I think it'll be much brighter and drier in eastern Scotland

0:02:000:02:03

and north-east England, losing the showers here.

0:02:030:02:05

Still one or two residual showers and more cloud left in the south,

0:02:050:02:09

but most of the rain and cloud comes in on that weather front there,

0:02:090:02:11

together with the strengthening winds.

0:02:110:02:14

That will then push outbreaks of rain,

0:02:140:02:16

chiefly across the northern half of the country

0:02:160:02:18

as we run through Wednesday. To the south,

0:02:180:02:21

if the cloud does break,

0:02:210:02:22

that's going to lead to some mist and fog

0:02:220:02:24

and maybe the odd pocket of frost as well,

0:02:240:02:26

but still some reasonable temperatures here, 14 or 15,

0:02:260:02:29

and beginning to lift the temperatures

0:02:290:02:30

across the north as well,

0:02:300:02:32

because we're getting an Atlantic influence

0:02:320:02:34

that comes in around the top of this area of high pressure,

0:02:340:02:36

so Atlantic winds are that bit milder.

0:02:360:02:39

Still quite blustery though for northern parts of the UK.

0:02:390:02:41

Rain towards the far north-west of Scotland,

0:02:410:02:44

the Northern Isles as well,

0:02:440:02:45

otherwise it looks like it's going to be dry.

0:02:450:02:47

Reasonable temperatures, but again,

0:02:470:02:49

a chilly start where we have clear skies.

0:02:490:02:51

Some mist and fog too, close to the area of high pressure.

0:02:510:02:54

Let's look further ahead, then.

0:02:540:02:56

It all hinges on what happens

0:02:560:02:58

with this area of high pressure.

0:02:580:03:00

It looks like it should tend to build up

0:03:000:03:02

from the south. The centre of the high, though,

0:03:020:03:04

may migrate into Europe,

0:03:040:03:07

allowing the wind to pick up in the north-west

0:03:070:03:09

and some weather fronts to arrive,

0:03:090:03:11

but as we head towards the end of the month,

0:03:110:03:13

where we have the high pressure,

0:03:130:03:15

frost and fog will be slow to lift,

0:03:150:03:16

otherwise there'll be some dry weather and some sunshine,

0:03:160:03:19

but then right at the end of the month,

0:03:190:03:21

we could see a freshening breeze and that may introduce

0:03:210:03:24

some outbreaks of rain into the north-west later on.

0:03:240:03:27

That's it from me. Goodbye.
