Hello. The weather has been particularly mild over the past week

0:00:010:00:04

or so and we are likely to start

0:00:040:00:05

this new working week on a pretty mild note too.

0:00:050:00:08

In fact, temperatures likely to be up to around 18 or 19 degrees

0:00:080:00:11

on Monday, but the temperature trend for the rest of the week,

0:00:110:00:13

those temperatures really taking a tumble.

0:00:130:00:16

Struggling to reach double figures for many of us by the time we

0:00:160:00:19

get to Wednesday and Thursday.

0:00:190:00:21

Let's take a look at the start of the week.

0:00:210:00:23

For Monday, high pressure still in charge for most of us.

0:00:230:00:25

We've got this weather front which is just pushing in

0:00:250:00:27

to northern and north-western parts of the country.

0:00:270:00:30

As that pushes south over the next few days,

0:00:300:00:32

it is going to squeeze away this mild air towards the south.

0:00:320:00:35

You can see the blue colours returning to the map as we

0:00:350:00:38

start to draw in a colder air mass from the north and north-west.

0:00:380:00:41

So back to the here and now, for Monday we have got some mist

0:00:410:00:44

and fog around first thing.

0:00:440:00:46

Particularly through central and southern parts of England and Wales.

0:00:460:00:49

Mist and fog slowly clearing and I think there will be

0:00:490:00:51

a bit more sunshine,

0:00:510:00:52

particularly across southern England and Wales compared to recent days.

0:00:520:00:55

Temperatures here up to around 17 or 18 degrees.

0:00:550:00:58

Further north, we've got a bit more cloud for northern England,

0:00:580:01:01

southern Scotland and Northern Ireland and some rain moving

0:01:010:01:03

into northern and central parts of Scotland later in the day.

0:01:030:01:06

That rain will shift its way south

0:01:060:01:08

overnight Monday and into Tuesday.

0:01:080:01:10

Towards the south of that front we're still in the mild murky air.

0:01:100:01:13

So, yet again, some mist and some fog around Tuesday morning.

0:01:130:01:16

Reduced visibility here.

0:01:160:01:18

Whereas further north, fresher, clearer conditions.

0:01:180:01:20

A cold north-westerly wind,

0:01:200:01:22

quite breezy conditions for northern Scotland.

0:01:220:01:24

Temperatures in single figures towards the north.

0:01:240:01:27

With all that mist and fog around first thing Tuesday,

0:01:270:01:29

we could well see some disruption to travel.

0:01:290:01:32

Some tricky driving conditions over the next few mornings, in fact,

0:01:320:01:35

with patchy mist and some locally dense fog patches.

0:01:350:01:39

So on to the latter part of Tuesday then.

0:01:390:01:41

We're going to be losing that weather front.

0:01:410:01:43

It is pushing away towards the south and then higher pressure

0:01:430:01:45

builds in from the west once again.

0:01:450:01:47

So with that high pressure, light winds and clear skies.

0:01:470:01:50

Wednesday is going to start off on a chilly note.

0:01:500:01:53

-3 across rural parts of Scotland.

0:01:530:01:55

The first widespread significant frost of the season for

0:01:550:01:58

Wednesday morning.

0:01:580:01:59

Now, after that chilly start, not a bad day at all.

0:01:590:02:02

Lots of dry weather, plenty of sunshine.

0:02:020:02:04

It will feel significantly cooler than it has done.

0:02:040:02:06

In fact, 10 degrees cooler in some areas and the cool feel

0:02:060:02:09

really exacerbated by that cool north-westerly wind,

0:02:090:02:12

particularly around the eastern coast.

0:02:120:02:14

Heading through to the middle part of the week

0:02:140:02:16

Wednesday into Thursday and then onto Friday as well.

0:02:160:02:18

We're going to start to see this

0:02:180:02:19

frontal system heading in from the north-west.

0:02:190:02:21

Before it gets there, high pressure keeps things pretty quiet

0:02:210:02:24

throughout the day on Thursday.

0:02:240:02:27

Again, some frost and some fog to start the day which should

0:02:270:02:30

clear away to leave sunny spells for the most part in the afternoon.

0:02:300:02:33

9 to 12 degrees.

0:02:330:02:34

But rain arriving in the north-west.

0:02:340:02:37

This weather front will start push southwards and eastwards

0:02:370:02:41

across the UK, so lower pressure in charge as we end the working week.

0:02:410:02:45

Friday probably the most unsettled day.

0:02:450:02:48

In terms of most areas we'll see some showery rain,

0:02:480:02:50

but it is a little bit milder in the south-east with temperatures

0:02:500:02:53

back up to around 13 degrees or so.

0:02:530:02:55

Not as much in the way of fog and frost on Friday.

0:02:550:02:59

As we end the week and look into next weekend and beyond,

0:02:590:03:02

it looks like low pressure will just about push off towards

0:03:020:03:04

the south-east and we'll also see higher pressure once again trying to

0:03:040:03:08

nudge in from the Atlantic.

0:03:080:03:10

That leaves us with this fairly cool north-westerly airflow.

0:03:100:03:13

So through the course of next week and beyond,

0:03:130:03:16

things are going to be staying pretty chilly,

0:03:160:03:18

we'll see frost and fog at times too

0:03:180:03:20

but there is a lot of dry weather in the forecast.

0:03:200:03:23

Just a few scattered showers at times,

0:03:230:03:25

more particularly towards the end of the period.

0:03:250:03:27

We'll keep you

0:03:270:03:28

up-to-date right here.

0:03:280:03:30

Bye-bye.
