so cute. . At one point, a celebrity has left their key under the

doormat. In many houses, alarms are not turned on. It is about people

living in an artificial world, that is the point. One of the criticisms

of the film is that it is soft on its protagonists. The director

appears to if not sympathise with them, at least to enjoy their

company to some extent. I think it is an accurate portrait of them. She

is very good with the cast. She gets very natural performances from her

cast. It is a film which does feel sympathetic to its players. It also

touches on the idea that celebrity culture and materialism, possessions

are in the end utterly vacuous. It does not wallow in them in the same

way that other films do. I wanted a tougher edge to it. I wanted more

satirical bite, something closer to a film like to die for, or the King

of comedy, which began the cycle of films about becoming a celebrity

through crime. But it is a genuine portrait. She has this way of

directing which is kind of dreamy, slightly woozy. You are just wonder

moved from the action. It is good fun. It is flimsy. I have to say, it

should be tougher. But if it is not an affectionate portrait, it at

least seems genuine. It also seems a great summer watch, 90 minutes, out

of the sunshine. It does not overstay its Wellcome. A field in

England is very interesting, the new film by Ben week leave. It is black

and white, set in the English Civil War. It has been released

simultaneously in the cinema, DVD, Blu-ray, television, you can see it

anywhere you want to. The director is the guy who gave us the kill list

and sightseers. He does this dark comedy, bordering on horror. This is

the story of a ragtag band who have moved away from the battlefield, in

search of an ale house. They find a field with mushrooms, and somebody

insisting somewhere in the field is a pot of gold. There are hints to

other films. And all the way through, there is this brooding

darkness. And it starts to tip into this hallucinogenic vision, and it

becomes really creepy, very darkly satirical. To rid the performances.

Solid performances by the cast. You would be hard pressed to say what it

is that is so disturbing, but after 45 minutes, you feel genuinely

worried, like something is coming up from the floor. Magic mushrooms and

psychedelic trauma? There is more than one way of reading it. At the

beginning, there is a warning saying it features lighting effects in

which people may react to. Interestingly, that is by no means

the most disturbing scene. There is one slow motion shot that is

literally a shot of a man walking out of a tent attached to a rope,

and it is one of the creepiest things I can remember seeing. He is

a very fine director. Incidentally, simultaneous releasing is the

future, and it is a really interesting piece of work that will

creep some people out. Sounds terrific. No, I have been seeing the

posters all over the place for the next film. It is about magicians

being brought together by a mysterious force. It is a short

which will be spectacular, but also, crucially, criminal. Here's a clip.

looks like fun. You have a lot of big stars and the. It is not unlike

auction 11 in some way, but it is essentially about the philosophy of

magic and what it is used for. It has an idea about the beginning

about magic, because there's a good card trick at the beginning which

really works well in screen, but it then gets kind top and everything

gets thrown in. Computer graphics, car chases. But you get Michael

Caine and Morgan Freeman giving remainders of any film which I

really like but never did anything at the box office. It really loses

its way and at the end, it is very disappointing. The act of killing is

the best film of the week for you. It is a very inventive documentary

about the cycle of violence. It is about the human attitude to an

unpunished claim. It is a harsh documentary. It is not an easy

watch, but absolutely worth it. your DVD pick of the week? When it

came out in the cinema I did not get it. I read the book and I thought it

was unfilmable Phil Noble as a movie. But I find a lot more

watchable this time. Think maybe a third time round it may actually
