Hello and welcome to the One Show, with Alex Jones. And Matt Baker. | :00:23. | :00:29.
Tonight's guest is an Irish stand- up, who is sitting on the funny | :00:29. | :00:33.
side of the periodic table. With comedy that is out of this world, | :00:33. | :00:38.
it is Dara O'Briain. How are you? Very well. Labouring under a bit of | :00:38. | :00:45.
a cold, as you do (coughs) that was genuinely. On tour, every night you | :00:45. | :00:48.
reaggravate, there is nothing the audience want to hear more than | :00:48. | :00:55.
that. Your throat, stuffed. Acenacia. I can't do a science show | :00:55. | :01:00.
and be in favour of that, that doesn't work! I need to see | :01:00. | :01:05.
evidence for that. The weird thing is, it is a joke, I went into a | :01:05. | :01:08.
chemist and said do you have anything, really proper stuff, and | :01:08. | :01:14.
the woman walked out, and went, I know just the thing, the | :01:14. | :01:16.
pharmaceutical woman, and said these are very good, because not | :01:16. | :01:22.
only have you suck them, but there is honey, and I stood there, and | :01:22. | :01:29.
said, I'm sorry pet, are you explaining Lockets to me. I'm a 40- | :01:29. | :01:33.
year-old man, they have been on the market for some time now. We have | :01:33. | :01:38.
mastered that. Other cough sweets of course? Of course, of course. | :01:38. | :01:44.
You are looking good to us. Lots of people say you look uncannily like | :01:44. | :01:48.
this character, from Despicable Me? I hear that a lot, I love it. In | :01:48. | :01:54.
the list of things that I look like, the Megabus man, a giant sausage, | :01:54. | :01:57.
that is one of the things. I say it every night, it gets a huge round | :01:58. | :02:04.
of applause every night. People say, "oh you do", I say don't clap, that | :02:04. | :02:09.
clap the jokes I write. Don't clap the fact that I accidentally look | :02:09. | :02:16.
like an animated villain. You have a neck. And chins. Over 40,000 | :02:16. | :02:23.
people on Twitter say. Every time it is on the tele, people say it. | :02:23. | :02:26.
Tomorrow morning, six very brave tiejers will be setting off from | :02:26. | :02:32.
Llandudno at -- teenager, will be setting off from Llandudno as the | :02:32. | :02:35.
teenage Rickshaw Challenge gets under way. I am heading off to | :02:35. | :02:38.
North Wales after the show. They are on board the rickshaw now, | :02:38. | :02:42.
Ciaran is there, and Darren has a microphone. How are things up there, | :02:42. | :02:49.
you have less than 12 hours to go, what is the feeling within Team | :02:49. | :02:52.
Rickshaw? Everyone has different feelings at this minute. I'm a | :02:52. | :02:55.
little bit apprehensive, but I'm really looking forward to it. It | :02:55. | :03:01.
should be good. We are all raring to go. Have you had your last meal, | :03:01. | :03:06.
and if so, what did you have? sandwiches on the train, some cake | :03:06. | :03:13.
when I got here, I'm looking forward to my meal tonight, loads | :03:13. | :03:17.
of carbohydrate. Cake, very athletic. We will hear more from | :03:17. | :03:20.
Team Rickshaw later on. We will be talking to Dara about his new | :03:21. | :03:24.
science series as well. In the moon time, to get us into the thinking | :03:24. | :03:28.
mode, Dara has a challenge for you at home. I do, you wanted something | :03:28. | :03:34.
that was very simple, straight forward, a puzzle, four oranges, it | :03:34. | :03:38.
is very easy to. Do you get four oranges or any kind of apples, | :03:38. | :03:43.
other fruit available. You put them out, a simple puzzlek how can you | :03:43. | :03:48.
arrange them so they are all equi- distant, each orange is the same | :03:48. | :03:51.
distance from every other orange. Any way you want, how do you move | :03:51. | :03:56.
them, is it that, that, that. See what you can do. | :03:56. | :04:03.
Take a photo of your efforts and Take a photo of your efforts and | :04:03. | :04:05.
Dara will see who got it right. This summer, sporting fever swept | :04:05. | :04:10.
the nation, as the best of Olympic athletes swept to victory. | :04:10. | :04:14.
We all have our own memories of the games, some wanted a more permanent | :04:14. | :04:19.
reminder, the fact that people could buy a piece of the Olympic | :04:19. | :04:25.
legacy, hasn't quit worked out for everyone. The Olympics and | :04:25. | :04:31.
Paralympics, events that made Britain proud. It is no surprise | :04:31. | :04:37.
many of us, including me, wanted a souvenir to remember it by. I | :04:37. | :04:45.
reported back in July on a company called ReMains of the Day. Selling | :04:45. | :04:48.
off momentos from the Olympic village. The place was filling up | :04:48. | :04:53.
with bits and pieces, big and small, from one of the largest events | :04:53. | :05:01.
London had ever hosted. Many from the parts of the apartments the | :05:01. | :05:06.
athletes stayed in. I came away with a loo brush, I was lucky, we | :05:06. | :05:11.
have been in touch with many who are still waiting. For Kirsty and | :05:11. | :05:18.
her family, the Olympics was a once in a lifetime event. It was | :05:18. | :05:22.
fantastic, we started off with the Olympic Torch coming through our | :05:22. | :05:26.
town. The kids were able to see that. We saw the open-water | :05:27. | :05:32.
swimming. What attracted you to Remains of the Games? We would have | :05:32. | :05:35.
something physical in the house that had been part of the Olympics, | :05:35. | :05:41.
things we could keep forever. did you order? Three bean bags, two | :05:41. | :05:50.
cushions, a mirror and a folding chair. I was so excited, because my | :05:50. | :05:57.
stuff could be Usain Bolt sitting on it. How much did you spend? | :05:57. | :06:02.
If they don't turn up, I will be so disappointed. The website said the | :06:02. | :06:05.
items will be ready from mid- September, we are now into November, | :06:05. | :06:08.
and Kirsty as family are still waiting. In fact, we have heard | :06:08. | :06:11.
from lots of other frustrated customers who haven't received | :06:11. | :06:16.
their goods either. Some have written to us, others have taken to | :06:16. | :06:21.
social networking sites to voice their concerns. | :06:21. | :06:27.
So, time to tackle the man behind the mess, Paul Levin from Remains | :06:27. | :06:31.
of the Games. On the website it said some people will get their | :06:31. | :06:33.
goods in September, it is now November. Why have they been | :06:33. | :06:39.
waiting so long? We underestimated the complexity and the way of goods | :06:39. | :06:43.
coming out from the venues. Goods coming out from venues in the | :06:43. | :06:47.
village, are much, much slower than anybody projected and certainly | :06:47. | :06:51.
what we were told. The goods that did come out, a lot of them were | :06:51. | :06:56.
damaged. The thing that has really upset people is not being able to | :06:56. | :07:00.
get in touch with you, either by phone or e-mail? Loads of things we | :07:00. | :07:03.
would have liked to have done a lot better. We are sorry for that, we | :07:03. | :07:08.
want customers to be happy, and we haven't achieved that. What | :07:08. | :07:11.
guarantee can you now give to customers who are still waiting to | :07:11. | :07:15.
receive their goods? We have over 80% of the stock in the collection | :07:15. | :07:19.
centres. That means e-mails are going out. Inviting people to come | :07:19. | :07:23.
and collect. Frankly, we want all the goods out of here. We now know | :07:23. | :07:26.
that we are going to be able to give the sort of service that right | :07:27. | :07:34.
at the start we wanted to give. With Paul promising that things are | :07:34. | :07:37.
about to change, I can't resist speeding the process up for one | :07:37. | :07:43.
family, at least. So, it's back to Kirsty's house | :07:43. | :07:51.
with the boot full of bean bags! Hello, I have got something for you. | :07:51. | :08:01.
Oh wow. Oh my God. Two cushions, keep passing it back. | :08:01. | :08:05.
So the last time you saw this stuff was when you ordered it on the | :08:06. | :08:10.
website some time ago. What is it like to actually see T I'm so | :08:10. | :08:16.
pleased, thank you so much. Yeah! So for one family, at least, this | :08:16. | :08:21.
story has a happy ending. Since then, the company has told us | :08:21. | :08:25.
that many customers have received their goods, if you haven't, you | :08:25. | :08:29.
should wait for an e-mail before you try to collect them. They have | :08:29. | :08:32.
promised refunds where orders have been lost or damage. Would you have | :08:32. | :08:38.
fancied that? I went to lots of things. Something like a javelin, | :08:38. | :08:43.
or, like a giant pole vault mat. Yeah! That massive thing. | :08:43. | :08:47.
They were the expensive things? Were they, could you get them. | :08:47. | :08:52.
Hangers were a bargain, 50p? I have hangers. I can't say I would want | :08:52. | :08:58.
that. I want to open my cupboards and get the glow of the Olympics | :08:58. | :09:01.
every time I'm grabbing a shirt. You had a great time over the | :09:01. | :09:08.
summer? I thought it was fantastic. I was one of these, the people who | :09:08. | :09:13.
were on the web page, refreshing, refresh, refreshing, to get T any | :09:13. | :09:17.
time something came up you grab it quickly I got a few tickets. | :09:17. | :09:21.
Anything to get to anything. I was mad into it. You are your legacy is | :09:21. | :09:26.
the picture you took? I blagged from the BBC into Katie Taylor, | :09:26. | :09:30.
she's the Irish Boxer, you have to guess who that is, by the way. | :09:30. | :09:35.
one person has that hairstyle? is a notable beehive. That is, I | :09:35. | :09:40.
love saying this to Irish people, that is Princess Anne, covering her | :09:40. | :09:43.
ears from the roars of the Irish crowd at the Katie Taylor fight. | :09:43. | :09:48.
The best thing about it is, I took the photograph, I thought this is, | :09:48. | :09:53.
slightly guilty, I took the photograph, she looked at me and | :09:53. | :09:59.
just went, I met her once before. And then she stayed for the fight, | :09:59. | :10:02.
she walked past, and we had a moment where we went like. That | :10:02. | :10:07.
neither of us knew what to say. Steve Redgrave said, I said Steve, | :10:07. | :10:13.
give us the hug, you are the king of the hugs, give us a hug. I have | :10:13. | :10:18.
no clue, we had a moment, I don't know if he knows who I am, but two | :10:18. | :10:23.
huge men hugging. Dara, your new DVD is out, Craic Dealer. We have | :10:23. | :10:26.
to point out the obvious, this isn't you wearing a hoodie standing | :10:26. | :10:31.
on a street corner? No, it is a pun that has proved difficult to sum! | :10:31. | :10:35.
It should be noted, it is not, the way of explaining this, this might | :10:35. | :10:42.
be very Bond Live And Let Die, this isn't me funnelling money illegally | :10:42. | :10:51.
in drug use by setting up a loss- leader DVD. Cfrplt raic is an old | :10:51. | :10:58.
Irish word for fun, it is great, next time I can do "craic addict"! | :10:58. | :11:02.
The thing is I have done it so much, the year of touring it, I was | :11:02. | :11:07.
passing through an airport in Dublin, a customs officers went as | :11:07. | :11:13.
I went past, "oh here he is, the craic dealer!". Here is you | :11:13. | :11:17.
pondering the London riots. I want have done it when I was 16. I | :11:17. | :11:21.
wouldn't have been phoning around organising riots at 16. When I was | :11:21. | :11:25.
16 we had one phone in the house, and it was in sitting room with the | :11:25. | :11:31.
television and the couch. There is no way you can organise that. | :11:31. | :11:36.
(quietly) we are having a riot, leave me be, I'm on the phone. "we | :11:36. | :11:43.
will smash the system, and destroy capitalism, it will be amazing. I'm | :11:43. | :11:48.
allowed to make calls as well. See you in town in half an hour, very | :11:48. | :11:54.
good. I need a lift into town!" Dara, were you just getting too | :11:54. | :11:58.
comfortable then behind the desk, or in the book? People presume | :11:58. | :12:01.
because they see you doing the tele stuff all the time, that is what | :12:01. | :12:07.
you do all the time. This year, for example, we did 1, 12, Mock The | :12:07. | :12:11.
Week, 130 nights on tour. The TV stuff you drop in and do it so | :12:11. | :12:15.
often, and then back out five nights on the road. The Craic | :12:15. | :12:20.
Dealer DVD, is out on Monday. Someone we know was absolutely | :12:20. | :12:24.
delighted when he discovered we were running a film tonight about a | :12:24. | :12:28.
big-hearted bear that has been entertaining crowds for years. | :12:28. | :12:34.
Imagine his disappointment when he realised it wasn't all about him! | :12:34. | :12:41.
In August 1980, a full-scale air and sea search was mounted around | :12:41. | :12:46.
the remote island in the Scottish Hebrides. The hunt attracted | :12:46. | :12:51.
enormous media attention, and the story went global. But why all the | :12:51. | :12:57.
fuss? Who or what had gone missing? The fugutive was a bear. An eight- | :12:57. | :13:02.
foot tall, 06-stone grizzly called Hercules. Back in the 1970s, when | :13:02. | :13:09.
you could still do such a thing, professional wrestler, Andy Robin, | :13:09. | :13:14.
bought him from the local zoo for 50. He trained Hercules to play | :13:14. | :13:18.
fight as part of his act. The bear became a member of the family, | :13:18. | :13:23.
living and eating with Andy and his wife Maggie. Man and bear developed | :13:23. | :13:29.
a unique bond of trust. One day, I swear to God, I fell in the river, | :13:29. | :13:33.
he pounced on top of me. I thought, this is it, he's going to get me. | :13:33. | :13:39.
He caught my hair and lifted me up, I swear to God, and looked at me as | :13:39. | :13:44.
if to say, I'm not going to bite you. They travelled together in the | :13:44. | :13:50.
world on this bus. The man and bear? They wrestled together. They | :13:50. | :13:55.
loved to wrestle together. He had no chains on him, or barriers on | :13:55. | :14:00.
the ring. He could jump out of the ring any day he wanted. Hercules | :14:00. | :14:03.
graduated from the ring to TV appearances and commercials. | :14:03. | :14:08.
Shooting an advert in the heb does, Andy allowed Hercules a break, for | :14:08. | :14:15.
a favourite activity, a swim. Hercules promptly headed for the | :14:15. | :14:18.
horizon. Talk about irresponsible parenting, really? He thinks he's | :14:18. | :14:23.
in the pool he goes for a swim and taking off. Not knowing it is | :14:23. | :14:27.
limitless. What did you do? Complete panic, because, unless you | :14:27. | :14:31.
have been up there, you really don't realise the scope of the | :14:31. | :14:41.
:14:41. | :14:41. | ||
place, the currents. Alan Shepherd remembers well the day he went | :14:41. | :14:48.
missing. How on earth could a bear this size disappear? It was het iry | :14:48. | :14:52.
moorland, he blended into that. The only way of seeing him was on the | :14:52. | :14:58.
move. Were the farmers worried the sheep would be ravaged? If one | :14:58. | :15:02.
sheep was found, it would have gone. The anxious parents were more | :15:02. | :15:07.
worried that he would starve to death before eating livestock. He | :15:07. | :15:11.
was something of a gas row gnome. He loved a good pot of sea in the | :15:11. | :15:16.
morning, he liked his roast chicken, his prawns. He wouldn't eat raw | :15:16. | :15:23.
meat. Of course not. Unless there was a roast lamb wandering about. | :15:23. | :15:27.
Three weeks went by, with no sign of the bear. Andy and Maggie were | :15:27. | :15:31.
frantic with worry. You went to bed at night, and I could hear him | :15:31. | :15:35.
crying into his pillow. And I was doing the same. But you were trying | :15:35. | :15:41.
not to bring it together to make it even worse. So it was just a | :15:41. | :15:46.
horrible time. Then, when all hope seemed lost, a sighting, on the | :15:46. | :15:56.
:15:56. | :15:56. | ||
island of north Uist. I saw the bear. From what distance? A mile or | :15:57. | :16:01.
so. What was he doing? Walking across the moors. Tracked by | :16:01. | :16:05.
helicopter, Hercules was shot with a tranquilliser dart, and reunited | :16:05. | :16:10.
with Andy. But his time on the run, including the long swim to the next | :16:10. | :16:14.
door island, had taken its toll. has lost 15 stone. Because he | :16:15. | :16:20.
wasn't having the grub? He was very poorly, covered in ticks, I sat and | :16:20. | :16:24.
picked all them off him. Every single person, I think, in the | :16:24. | :16:30.
island brought milk. We had 1,000 pints of milk. 140 pints of milk | :16:30. | :16:34.
appeared. He slurped away at it. That seemed to relife him. How was | :16:34. | :16:38.
it for him when he got home? liked to be very close to you. He | :16:38. | :16:43.
thought, I'm not having any more of that outdoor stuff. I'm staying | :16:43. | :16:49.
close to home. Hercules recovered fully, and resumed his career. His | :16:49. | :16:57.
escapist exploiplts making him more popular than ever. After -- | :16:57. | :17:02.
exploits making him more popular. He died from natural causes at the | :17:02. | :17:08.
grand old age of 26. He lies here in their garden. You miss him | :17:08. | :17:13.
still? He was a massive part of our lives, he made us laugh and brought | :17:13. | :17:17.
us an enormous amount of pleasure. We will miss him still. It is jaw- | :17:17. | :17:21.
dropping? That is like man in a suit. That entire report is a guy | :17:21. | :17:26.
in a suit. He was in the studio in a television studio. I'm sorry to | :17:26. | :17:30.
make it about us. Some show booked him as a guest. And there is | :17:30. | :17:34.
somebody with you, a second half of the double act, it is bear! Can you | :17:34. | :17:38.
imagine if we had one walking in from behind there, a big bear? | :17:39. | :17:42.
would have an empty chair for him to fill. I would be throwing | :17:42. | :17:49.
cameramen at him. That won insane. He loves a cup of tea. Pudsey is | :17:49. | :17:53.
looking on in disbelief. Could never imagine a bear in the studio. | :17:53. | :17:57.
You have a brand-new science show as well? Started last week, this | :17:57. | :18:02.
Tuesday, five or six week of it, moving on to Christmas, Science | :18:02. | :18:06.
Club, we take a topic and go at it from a fairly hefty way. We | :18:06. | :18:11.
introduce it, it gets technical and we get into really good stuff. | :18:11. | :18:15.
show experiments everyone can do at home? Obviously my impression of | :18:15. | :18:19.
how you measure the speed of light would involve some massive | :18:19. | :18:24.
telescope and planets and speed and lasers, how are we going to do it | :18:24. | :18:28.
today? You could do it, or make cheese on toast. Lovely, that's | :18:28. | :18:34.
perfect. You can see the hot spots where it is melted, left over the | :18:34. | :18:38.
cold spots. Should we go for the centre. That should be half a | :18:38. | :18:42.
wavelength, if you believe your theory. | :18:42. | :18:46.
That should be correct. It is a very, very simple thing, anyone who | :18:46. | :18:50.
sees it next Tuesday can do it. You can use cheese on toast or a large | :18:50. | :18:53.
bar of chocolate, you measure the points and there is another number | :18:53. | :18:57.
you need. We will see next Tuesday. We know you are a mass of knowledge, | :18:57. | :19:01.
dar ra, we thought it would be quite interesting -- Dara, we | :19:01. | :19:04.
thought it would be quite interesting to step into Dara | :19:04. | :19:09.
O'Briain's brain! So, shall we spin the wheel? Surely | :19:09. | :19:16.
there is more to my brain than that! There is other things I like. | :19:16. | :19:21.
Last week we had Felix Baumgartner on the programme, can you, in your | :19:21. | :19:26.
terms, explain why Felix doesn't get faster and faster and faster | :19:26. | :19:30.
and faster? He got faster for a while and he slowed up. You reach a | :19:30. | :19:34.
thing called terminal vessel loss tee, the speed of you going down is | :19:34. | :19:37.
counter acted by the fact you are passing through the air, and you | :19:37. | :19:40.
have friction from the air. The thicker the air, the closer to the | :19:40. | :19:45.
ground, the slower you go. He hit a terminal velocity in thin air, and | :19:46. | :19:49.
slowed down until the air got thicker, until he reached the 125 | :19:49. | :19:58.
miles an hour. Get in there again. As tron me. On Stargazing Live, | :19:58. | :20:04.
your other pro-- astronomy. On Stargazing Live you look at other | :20:04. | :20:07.
planets, is there life on other planets? Undoubtedly because there | :20:07. | :20:11.
are so many planets and stars. You need somewhere a bit like us, a | :20:11. | :20:15.
certain amount away from a heat source, with the right amount of | :20:15. | :20:17.
chemicals, there is bound to be somewhere else. We will never get | :20:17. | :20:21.
in contact with them. And Brian Cox went on a joke the other day about | :20:21. | :20:25.
how the BBC stopped us due to health and safety. We didn't, we | :20:25. | :20:28.
pointed a camera last January, we couldn't hearing anything. It will | :20:28. | :20:32.
be next to impossible to hear from them. One of the programmes is | :20:32. | :20:36.
about whether we can travel and hear from them in two weeks time. | :20:36. | :20:41.
Yes there will be life somewhere. The last one, we know it is maths | :20:41. | :20:44.
don't we! Earlier on you asked the audience to do this little | :20:44. | :20:47.
Chancellor edge, we have lots of people sending -- challenge, we | :20:47. | :20:57.
:20:57. | :20:57. | ||
have had lots of people sending in their ideas? That is classic not | :20:57. | :21:04.
the right idea, that one is far away from that. An 11-year-old and | :21:04. | :21:09.
nine-year-old? That is spot on. That is exactly what you do. | :21:09. | :21:12.
That is another illustration on it, you have to move into another | :21:12. | :21:19.
direction. Science Club is on Tuesdays, BBC Two, 9.00pm. Our | :21:19. | :21:24.
Children in Need Rickshaw Challenge and the intrepid teenagers who make | :21:25. | :21:29.
up Team Rickshaw. Their incredible 411-mile journey | :21:29. | :21:31.
from London to Llandudno starts bright and early tomorrow. Pudsey | :21:31. | :21:35.
and I will be on the train any moment. We are going in about ten, | :21:35. | :21:38.
are you all set? I hope you have your thermals | :21:38. | :21:43.
packed. I will join them on Saturday, on the A470. Each of them | :21:43. | :21:45.
has been helped by Children in Need in the past. They are doing this | :21:45. | :21:48.
because they want to raise money for other young children. | :21:48. | :21:54.
So far we have heard from Lauren, Jack, Ciaran, James and Jamila, | :21:54. | :21:57.
which leaves, last, but definitely not least, Darren. | :21:57. | :22:00.
Get the phones at the ready, details of how to donate will be on | :22:00. | :22:04.
the screen during the film. Hello, my name is Darren, this is | :22:04. | :22:09.
my family. My sister, my brother Sid, my dad, my mam. Not to mention, | :22:09. | :22:15.
the four guide dogs. I'm a massive Doctor Who fan, as | :22:16. | :22:21.
you can see from the huge collection here, I even have my own | :22:21. | :22:25.
sonic screwdriver. I was born with a degenerative eye | :22:25. | :22:30.
condition which is hereditary. It is called gauk coma, it is passed | :22:30. | :22:35.
down from -- glauk coma, it passed down from my dad's side, my mum has | :22:35. | :22:42.
eye problems as well. My brother and sister both have glaucoma, you | :22:42. | :22:47.
have the sight troubles of your own, and living with people with worse | :22:47. | :22:51.
sights, so you have to be their eyes as well. It has isolated us as | :22:51. | :22:58.
a family from other families that have sight. You find it hard to mix | :22:58. | :23:07.
and mingle with sighted children. He can do the same things, but it | :23:07. | :23:14.
may take him longer. Today I'm rock claiming. | :23:14. | :23:18.
-- rock climbing. We set this up because of the lack of support for | :23:18. | :23:21.
vision-impaired children in the north eefplts thanks to Children in | :23:21. | :23:24.
Need we have been able to run -- north-east, that is to Children in | :23:24. | :23:29.
Need we have been able to run many activities for visually impaired | :23:29. | :23:33.
children, the sorts of things normally they wouldn't be able to | :23:33. | :23:36.
access. Darren has grown up with us, he has been very involved in | :23:36. | :23:40.
everything we do. Very active and coming to nearly everything. His | :23:40. | :23:44.
self-confidence and self-esteem has really improved since he has been | :23:44. | :23:49.
coming to these sorts of activities. How was that? Fine, I enjoyed it. | :23:49. | :23:54.
When I went to Useful Vision, that was the turning point in my life, | :23:54. | :24:00.
really. They offered support and other families that had visual | :24:00. | :24:04.
impairments. I could talk to them, and kids my own age, who had visual | :24:04. | :24:09.
impairments. It was like I'm not the only one, I'm not alone, there | :24:09. | :24:12.
is other people going through this as well. | :24:12. | :24:18.
It is going to be more difficult for me for the Rickshaw Challenge | :24:18. | :24:23.
because of my sight impairment. On coming obstacles that may move, | :24:23. | :24:27.
such as traffic, may be less visible to me. There will have to | :24:27. | :24:31.
be someone who tells me that. I have been doing some training, I | :24:31. | :24:36.
have been training in the gym in Newcastle College, 20 minutes a day, | :24:36. | :24:39.
three days a week on the bike machine. Just doing plenty of | :24:39. | :24:46.
walking, hopefully it will help towards within I do the challenge. | :24:46. | :24:51.
If it starts getting tough, me and his mum will be thinking about him. | :24:51. | :24:56.
Keep on meddling and going, it is a very good cause. I'm a bit nervous | :24:56. | :25:00.
about the bike ride, because of the sheer distance that has to be | :25:00. | :25:04.
travelled. There will be loads of difficulties along the way, but I | :25:04. | :25:08.
can hopefully combat them, like I have combatted everything in my | :25:08. | :25:15.
life. Bring it on. (rings bell) | :25:15. | :25:18.
A lovely family. There we are. Could you tell everybody how they | :25:18. | :25:22.
can donate. I would be delighted, to show your support text the | :25:22. | :25:32.
:25:32. | :25:40. | ||
details below. You can also donate any amount you | :25:40. | :25:50.
:25:50. | :25:53. | ||
like by sending a cheque, can you It is time to go to Angellica who | :25:53. | :26:00.
is with Team Rickshaw in Llandudno. Hello. Hello, yes, welcome to | :26:00. | :26:04.
Llandudno. We're all in high spirits here, as you can see the | :26:04. | :26:08.
rickshaw is outside. It has had a full maintenance check, it is safe, | :26:08. | :26:13.
a God polish and all set to go. We have come in-- a good polish and | :26:13. | :26:17.
all set to go. Here are Team Rickshaw. You might recognise six | :26:17. | :26:21.
of the face, say hello to Sam and Shannon, who are reserves, just in | :26:21. | :26:24.
cautious you will be there, whipping them, getting them in | :26:24. | :26:28.
shape. I want a quick word with Lauren, how are you feeling? | :26:28. | :26:32.
Feeling really good about it, I'm feeling really excited. You are | :26:32. | :26:35.
looking forward to raising lots of money for Children in Need? Yes, | :26:35. | :26:40.
once I start a job I finish it. are my sort of girl. You guys do | :26:40. | :26:43.
not know who is starting off tomorrow morning. I can tell you | :26:43. | :26:48.
the person starting off is James. Yes. You didn't expect that, did | :26:48. | :26:54.
you? Everyone was going I don't want to start. How are you feeling? | :26:54. | :26:59.
Well, that's pretty cool. I think it will be, yeah, I better get | :26:59. | :27:02.
going. I'm going to let that sink in. We | :27:02. | :27:06.
have a nice meal coming up later, I need to tell you about the route. | :27:06. | :27:13.
Tomorrow it starts off at 6.00pm. It goes through Snowdonia National | :27:13. | :27:18.
Park, off to Ffestiniog, then Ganllwyd, then Dolgellau, and | :27:18. | :27:23.
hopefully by early evening you will be there, I hope I did the | :27:23. | :27:27.
pronunciations right. If you live along the route it is the A470, | :27:27. | :27:31.
cheer the guys on. You want support, don't you. We know last year when | :27:31. | :27:35.
Matt did the Rickshaw Challenge he was astounded, and it really | :27:35. | :27:39.
boosted him the amount of people who came and supported him. The | :27:39. | :27:48.
last thing we did before we tuck into real carbohydrates, no more | :27:48. | :27:51.
cake. As you know Bradley Wiggins was supposed to much recorded a | :27:51. | :27:54.
special message, but he had an accident. Why not give Bradley a | :27:54. | :28:00.
message from us. Let's look down the camera, what do we want to say. | :28:00. | :28:07.
Get well soon Bradley! Back to you guys. We have some food to eat! All | :28:07. | :28:11.
of Team Rickshaw, good luck, of course. It is going to be a big one. | :28:11. | :28:15.
It is so funny it dawns on you that it is actually happening, and there | :28:15. | :28:20.
is no way back. It is great, I would love to see what message | :28:20. | :28:22.
Bradley Wiggins would have sent today, a very different tone, I | :28:23. | :28:26.
would say. After tomorrow's tough ride to Dolgellau, the route | :28:26. | :28:32.
continues to Lampeter, Swansea, Cardiff, Reading on Thursday, | :28:32. | :28:35.
Salisbury, and we will be broadcasting from all those towns | :28:35. | :28:39.
live next week. You can track our progress via the | :28:39. | :28:44.
Children in Need website. Please, please, just donate | :28:44. | :28:49.
whatever you can. If you go to the website it will tell you exactly | :28:49. | :28:53.
where the rickshaw is, you can rush out and see it. | :28:53. | :28:56. |
