CBeebies Bedtime Story. | 0:06:02 | 0:06:05
So much to do today. | 0:06:09 | 0:06:10
Now then, once I've washed the windows I need to, um... | 0:06:12 | 0:06:17
Hello! I'm David. | 0:06:17 | 0:06:19
Have you been busy today? | 0:06:19 | 0:06:21
I have. There's just so much to do here at CBeebies. | 0:06:21 | 0:06:26
The windows need washing and then I need to, um... | 0:06:26 | 0:06:30
Ah! Water the plants. | 0:06:30 | 0:06:32
Yes. Yes. | 0:06:34 | 0:06:35
Once I've watered the plants I need to, um... | 0:06:35 | 0:06:39
Uh...oh, I can't remember! | 0:06:39 | 0:06:42
There's a very busy place in tonight's bedtime story. | 0:06:44 | 0:06:48
But there's one animal who isn't helping. | 0:06:48 | 0:06:51
He's busy doing other things. | 0:06:51 | 0:06:54
The story is by Caroline Jayne Church and it's called Ping Pong Pig. | 0:06:54 | 0:07:01
Appletree farm was a very busy place. | 0:07:01 | 0:07:03
Every day the animals would rush this way and that way, | 0:07:03 | 0:07:07
doing their daily chores. | 0:07:07 | 0:07:09
All the animals worked very hard indeed. | 0:07:09 | 0:07:12
All, that is, except one. | 0:07:12 | 0:07:16
Ping Pong Pig was far too busy doing his own thing. | 0:07:16 | 0:07:21
He spent all of his time trying to fly. | 0:07:21 | 0:07:24
He leapt from fences and logs, | 0:07:24 | 0:07:27
wheelbarrows and barrels, trying to jump higher and higher. | 0:07:27 | 0:07:32
"One day I will be able to fly," he told the other animals. | 0:07:32 | 0:07:38
"Pigs can't fly, Ping Pong," they sighed. | 0:07:38 | 0:07:42
But Ping Pong never stopped jumping and leaping. | 0:07:42 | 0:07:45
He managed to ruin the apples, | 0:07:45 | 0:07:48
spoil the new paint on the barn, | 0:07:48 | 0:07:51
free the bees and knock over all the hay. | 0:07:51 | 0:07:56
The animals decided that something had to be done. | 0:07:56 | 0:08:00
They gathered together for a meeting in the barn. | 0:08:00 | 0:08:04
Ping Pong wondered what was going on. | 0:08:04 | 0:08:07
The animals stayed in the barn all morning. | 0:08:07 | 0:08:10
They were obviously very busy. | 0:08:10 | 0:08:12
At last the barn doors swung open and the animals came out. | 0:08:12 | 0:08:16
Ping Pong looked on in amazement. | 0:08:16 | 0:08:21
"We've made you this trampoline," they said. | 0:08:21 | 0:08:24
"Now take it to a quiet corner of the field | 0:08:24 | 0:08:27
"and let us get on with our work." | 0:08:27 | 0:08:29
Ping Pong climbed aboard the trampoline. | 0:08:29 | 0:08:32
He jumped, | 0:08:32 | 0:08:34
and bounced and jumped. | 0:08:34 | 0:08:36
"Wheeee, I can fly!" he squealed. | 0:08:36 | 0:08:40
"But pigs can't fly, Ping Pong," | 0:08:40 | 0:08:43
the animals sighed as they went to get on with their work. | 0:08:43 | 0:08:47
Ping Pong Pig was having the best time ever. | 0:08:47 | 0:08:51
But then he stopped to have a little think. | 0:08:51 | 0:08:55
"It was so kind of my friends to make me this present, | 0:08:55 | 0:08:59
"perhaps I should help out a little more as a way of saying thank you." | 0:08:59 | 0:09:05
So he decided to put his trampoline to better use. | 0:09:05 | 0:09:09
He picked the apples, | 0:09:09 | 0:09:11
caught the bees, | 0:09:11 | 0:09:12
repainted the barn and carefully stacked all the hay. | 0:09:12 | 0:09:17
Much to his surprise, Ping Pong rather enjoyed helping out | 0:09:17 | 0:09:21
and his friends were delighted. | 0:09:21 | 0:09:24
"No more trouble from Ping Pong Pig," they all said, | 0:09:24 | 0:09:27
until something caught their eye. | 0:09:27 | 0:09:32
High at the top of an old apple tree they noticed something rustling. | 0:09:32 | 0:09:36
It was Ping Pong Pig. | 0:09:36 | 0:09:39
"Look!" shouted Ping Pong, as he leapt from the branches. | 0:09:39 | 0:09:44
"Pigs can fly!" | 0:09:44 | 0:09:46
"No, Ping Pong!" cried the animals, but it was too late. | 0:09:46 | 0:09:50
Splash! | 0:09:50 | 0:09:52
Ping Pong landed in the middle of the pond. | 0:09:52 | 0:09:56
"Wow! Fish can fly too," he giggled. | 0:09:56 | 0:10:01
And that story was called Ping Pong Pig. | 0:10:01 | 0:10:04
Didn't Ping Pong's trampoline look fun? | 0:10:04 | 0:10:08
But I don't think it would help me | 0:10:08 | 0:10:10
to get my jobs done around the CBeebies house. | 0:10:10 | 0:10:13
And I really should get them finished. So, while I do, | 0:10:13 | 0:10:17
it's time for you lot to go to bed. | 0:10:17 | 0:10:19
I'll see you for another story soon. Good night. | 0:10:19 | 0:10:23
Now then, what have I got to do? Ah! Plants. | 0:10:24 | 0:10:28
