Happy Christmas! | 0:38:10 | 0:38:12
I'm David. | 0:38:12 | 0:38:13
Look at all these presents. Wonder who put them there? | 0:38:13 | 0:38:17
Wonder who they're for? | 0:38:17 | 0:38:19
Hmm, and I wonder who wrapped them all, that's a thought. | 0:38:19 | 0:38:23
Who wraps the presents for Father Christmas? | 0:38:23 | 0:38:26
He surely can't wrap them all by himself, can he? | 0:38:26 | 0:38:29
Well, there's someone in tonight's bedtime story that we can ask - | 0:38:29 | 0:38:33
Little Bear. | 0:38:33 | 0:38:35
The story is by Henrietta and Paul Stickland, | 0:38:35 | 0:38:38
and is called, The Christmas Bear. | 0:38:38 | 0:38:41
Little Bear lived at the top of the world. | 0:38:41 | 0:38:46
One Christmas Eve night, he left his parents in their snuggly den, | 0:38:46 | 0:38:50
to explore. | 0:38:50 | 0:38:52
Little Bear followed his nose. | 0:38:52 | 0:38:54
It led him over the hill, to a big bright hole in the snow. | 0:38:54 | 0:38:59
"I wonder who lives down there," thought Little Bear. | 0:38:59 | 0:39:02
He followed his nose further and further into the hole, | 0:39:02 | 0:39:06
until, all of a sudden, Little Bear fell in. | 0:39:06 | 0:39:11
Down, down, down he fell... | 0:39:11 | 0:39:15
until he landed with a bump at the bottom. | 0:39:15 | 0:39:18
"Little Bear," said a friendly voice. | 0:39:18 | 0:39:22
"What a tumble!" | 0:39:22 | 0:39:24
Little Bear peeped between his paws, | 0:39:24 | 0:39:27
and saw a jolly man smiling down at him. | 0:39:27 | 0:39:29
"Letters, letters," said Father Christmas, | 0:39:31 | 0:39:34
as he showed Little Bear the sorting room. | 0:39:34 | 0:39:37
"So many children, so many presents." | 0:39:37 | 0:39:41
Little Bear helped sort some letters, | 0:39:41 | 0:39:44
but there was so much to look at. | 0:39:44 | 0:39:46
"And where was that penguin going?" he wondered. | 0:39:46 | 0:39:50
"My workshop," said Father Christmas, proudly, | 0:39:50 | 0:39:53
as he hurried Little Bear into the next room. | 0:39:53 | 0:39:56
"We make all the toys here. | 0:39:56 | 0:39:58
"Teddies, trains, dinosaurs, you name it. | 0:39:58 | 0:40:03
"I've designed one or two myself," | 0:40:03 | 0:40:06
admitted Father Christmas with a chuckle. | 0:40:06 | 0:40:09
Little Bear wanted to make some toys too, | 0:40:09 | 0:40:12
but there was so much else to see. | 0:40:12 | 0:40:14
Next, Father Christmas took Little Bear into a room | 0:40:14 | 0:40:18
full of noisy machinery. | 0:40:18 | 0:40:19
"This is the North Pole," he shouted. | 0:40:19 | 0:40:23
"We use it to make our own electricity. It's quite simple." | 0:40:23 | 0:40:27
Little bear nodded his head as if he understood, but really, he didn't | 0:40:27 | 0:40:32
and he was watching the naughty penguin. | 0:40:32 | 0:40:34
"Here's a lovely job for you," said Father Christmas, | 0:40:34 | 0:40:38
as they arrived in yet another room, "Testing all the toys." | 0:40:38 | 0:40:42
Little Bear was so excited, he couldn't think where to start. | 0:40:42 | 0:40:46
"Testing, testing," | 0:40:46 | 0:40:48
said Little Bear as he squeezed a teddy's tummy. | 0:40:48 | 0:40:51
"Grr," growled the teddy. | 0:40:51 | 0:40:54
"You'll do," said Little Bear, | 0:40:54 | 0:40:56
"Now, where's that penguin?" | 0:40:56 | 0:40:58
Little Bear peeped into a cosy room | 0:40:58 | 0:41:01
where some elves were putting their feet up. | 0:41:01 | 0:41:04
"Take a look around," said a sleepy Father Christmas, | 0:41:04 | 0:41:07
"while I have 40 winks." | 0:41:07 | 0:41:11
Little Bear followed his nose to the kitchen. | 0:41:11 | 0:41:14
There was a delicious smell of baking. | 0:41:14 | 0:41:17
Soon it was time for tea. | 0:41:17 | 0:41:19
Little Bear sniffed. "Fish and ice-cream. Great!" | 0:41:19 | 0:41:25
"Back to work again," exclaimed Father Christmas, | 0:41:25 | 0:41:29
taking Little Bear into the store room. | 0:41:29 | 0:41:32
Lists had to be checked and toys found for children everywhere. | 0:41:32 | 0:41:36
It kept Little Bear busy for hours. | 0:41:36 | 0:41:39
"I wonder if there's a present for me," he thought, shyly. | 0:41:39 | 0:41:45
"This is the present-wrapping department," | 0:41:45 | 0:41:48
Father Christmas informed Little Bear. | 0:41:48 | 0:41:50
Little Bear had never seen so many presents | 0:41:50 | 0:41:54
and so much wrapping paper. | 0:41:54 | 0:41:56
"Not long now," said Father Christmas. | 0:41:56 | 0:41:59
"Look, there goes a sack of toys down to my sleigh." | 0:41:59 | 0:42:02
Father Christmas and Little Bear went to the stable. | 0:42:02 | 0:42:06
"Nearly time to go," said Father Christmas to his reindeer, | 0:42:06 | 0:42:09
"and more cats to feed, I see." | 0:42:09 | 0:42:13
"Mice too," said Little Bear. | 0:42:13 | 0:42:16
"Well, happy Christmas, cats and mice," said Father Christmas. | 0:42:16 | 0:42:20
"Now, we must be off." | 0:42:20 | 0:42:22
Father Christmas reached into a pile of presents | 0:42:22 | 0:42:26
and gave one to Little Bear. | 0:42:26 | 0:42:28
"This one is for you," he said with a smile, | 0:42:28 | 0:42:32
"my little Christmas bear." | 0:42:32 | 0:42:35
"Oh, thank you," cried Little Bear. | 0:42:35 | 0:42:38
"I, uh, made it myself," said Father Christmas. | 0:42:38 | 0:42:43
"I think it's rather special. Now, climb in, Little Bear. | 0:42:43 | 0:42:47
"First stop - the top of the world," | 0:42:47 | 0:42:50
and in a wink, they were safely back at Little Bear's home. | 0:42:50 | 0:42:55
"Open your present, Little Bear," said Father Christmas. | 0:42:55 | 0:42:59
"It's a book and it's all about me," said Little Bear. | 0:42:59 | 0:43:05
"Time I was on my way," said Father Christmas, | 0:43:05 | 0:43:08
"Goodnight, Little Bear, | 0:43:08 | 0:43:10
"and a very merry Christmas to you all." | 0:43:10 | 0:43:14
And that story was called The Christmas Bear. | 0:43:16 | 0:43:19
So THAT'S where Father Christmas gets the presents wrapped - | 0:43:19 | 0:43:23
in the present-wrapping department. | 0:43:23 | 0:43:25
I hope you're having a fantastic Christmas. | 0:43:25 | 0:43:28
I need to find out who these presents are for | 0:43:28 | 0:43:30
so they have a fantastic Christmas too. | 0:43:30 | 0:43:33
Merry Christmas. I'll see you soon for another story. | 0:43:33 | 0:43:36
Night-night. | 0:43:36 | 0:43:38
Now, where's the first label? | 0:43:38 | 0:43:41 |
