If I fold this piece over here | 0:15:06 | 0:15:10
and this piece over here... | 0:15:10 | 0:15:14
Oh, hello! | 0:15:14 | 0:15:17
I'm Toby and I'm just trying to make a super-duper paper aeroplane | 0:15:17 | 0:15:21
that can loop the loop. But I'm not having much luck. | 0:15:21 | 0:15:25
There is an aeroplane in tonight's bedtime story | 0:15:25 | 0:15:29
and it's called Farmyard Flyers by Mike Bostock. | 0:15:29 | 0:15:34
On Flippity Farm, Farmer Jolly's jobs were in a muddle. | 0:15:34 | 0:15:40
One by one, the animals began to notice. | 0:15:40 | 0:15:43
Pig looked up from his aeroplane story. "Where's my straw?" | 0:15:43 | 0:15:49
he said, peering at his lemonade. | 0:15:49 | 0:15:51
"Hey" honked the geese. "Who shut the gate?" | 0:15:51 | 0:15:56
Over in the meadow, no-one fed Sheep. "This just won't do," she sighed. | 0:15:56 | 0:16:01
Cow shook her head. | 0:16:01 | 0:16:03
"This isn't my dinner," she huffed. "No sirree." | 0:16:03 | 0:16:09
But Farmer Jolly didn't notice. | 0:16:09 | 0:16:12
He was too tired. That night, Pig couldn't sleep. | 0:16:12 | 0:16:16
He read his book. He counted stars. | 0:16:16 | 0:16:19
Then he heard a noise from inside the big red barn. | 0:16:19 | 0:16:23
"There it goes again!" he said. | 0:16:23 | 0:16:27
He'd heard the noise before. Tap, tap, tap! | 0:16:27 | 0:16:31
Pig peeped through a gap in the boards. | 0:16:31 | 0:16:34
Farmer Jolly was busy fixing something. | 0:16:34 | 0:16:39
"So that's why he's tired," said Pig. | 0:16:39 | 0:16:43
Early next morning, Pig gathered the other animals. | 0:16:43 | 0:16:47
"Farmer Jolly needs help," he said, "and I've got a plan." | 0:16:47 | 0:16:52
Under the shady sycamore tree, Pig drew in the mud with a pointy stick. | 0:16:52 | 0:16:57
When everyone knew what to do, | 0:16:57 | 0:16:59
Cow scuffed the drawing out with her feet. | 0:16:59 | 0:17:03
"Keep it secret!" whispered Sheep. | 0:17:03 | 0:17:05
"Yup sirree," nodded Cow. | 0:17:05 | 0:17:08
As the sun came up, Pig rolled into action. | 0:17:08 | 0:17:13
From the payphone by the bridge on Crimson Creek, | 0:17:13 | 0:17:17
he dialled Farmer Jolly's number. | 0:17:17 | 0:17:19
"Hello?" said Pig, disguising his voice. | 0:17:19 | 0:17:23
"Urgent. Goose loose, far side of Flippity Farm." | 0:17:23 | 0:17:27
"Goose loose?" yawned sleepy Farmer Jolly. | 0:17:27 | 0:17:31
"I'll be right there." | 0:17:31 | 0:17:35
He put down his tools and jumped straight onto his tractor. | 0:17:35 | 0:17:38
"It worked!" giggled the animals. | 0:17:38 | 0:17:41
As soon as Farmer Jolly was out of sight, they scooted up the hill | 0:17:41 | 0:17:45
to see what he'd been fixing in the big red barn. | 0:17:45 | 0:17:49
They poked their heads round the big barn door. | 0:17:49 | 0:17:53
"It's an aeroplane!" Pig said. | 0:17:53 | 0:17:55
"Let's get busy," said Pig. | 0:17:55 | 0:17:57
"If we fix it, the jobs won't be in a muddle any more." | 0:17:57 | 0:18:00
"Good plan," said Sheep. | 0:18:00 | 0:18:03
"Yup sirree," nodded Cow. | 0:18:03 | 0:18:06
Pig read the instructions | 0:18:06 | 0:18:08
and he sawed while the geese glued | 0:18:08 | 0:18:11
and Cow patched and Sheep painted, | 0:18:11 | 0:18:14
until Farmer Jolly's aeroplane was fixed and ready to fly. | 0:18:14 | 0:18:18
Pig was excited. "Coming for a spin?" he called. | 0:18:18 | 0:18:23
They all piled in, and Pig revved the engine. | 0:18:23 | 0:18:26
"It looked easier in my book!" he yelled, as they wobbled and weaved. | 0:18:26 | 0:18:30
"Ooh sirree!" said Cow as they spluttered and juddered. | 0:18:30 | 0:18:36
"Quack!" squawked the ducks, as the plane splashed into the pond. | 0:18:36 | 0:18:41
When Farmer Jolly came back from his wild goose chase, | 0:18:41 | 0:18:45
he couldn't believe his eyes. | 0:18:45 | 0:18:46
"Sorry," said a very soggy Pig. | 0:18:46 | 0:18:50
"I'd better have a look," sighed Farmer Jolly. | 0:18:50 | 0:18:54
He got back on his tractor and pulled the aeroplane out of the pond. | 0:18:54 | 0:18:58
He patted the wings and tapped the wheels and looked into the cockpit. | 0:18:58 | 0:19:02
"You should have asked before you took it," he said. | 0:19:02 | 0:19:06
"But you've done a very good job. Thank you. | 0:19:06 | 0:19:08
"And now I really must go to sleep." | 0:19:08 | 0:19:10
Pig had a think about what Farmer Jolly had said. | 0:19:10 | 0:19:14
And then he came up with one last plan. | 0:19:14 | 0:19:17
He fed Sheep from the meadow and opened the gates for the geese. | 0:19:17 | 0:19:21
He gave Cow the right dinner | 0:19:21 | 0:19:23
and found a straw for his lemonade all by himself. | 0:19:23 | 0:19:28
When he woke, none of Farmer Jolly's jobs were in a muddle. | 0:19:28 | 0:19:32
He was delighted. | 0:19:32 | 0:19:34
"What a wonderful surprise!" he said. | 0:19:34 | 0:19:37
"I didn't think we would be ready in time." | 0:19:37 | 0:19:40
"Ready in time for what?" asked Pig. | 0:19:40 | 0:19:42
"A-ha!" said Farmer Jolly. "Now I have a surprise for you. | 0:19:42 | 0:19:47
"Jump in." | 0:19:47 | 0:19:48
And as a special treat, | 0:19:48 | 0:19:50
Farmer Jolly flew all the animals to the air show at Morgan's Field. | 0:19:50 | 0:19:54
"Hold tight!" he said, and together, | 0:19:54 | 0:19:57
the Farmyard Flyers looped the loop high above the cheering crowd. | 0:19:57 | 0:20:02
"Whee-hee!" said Pig. | 0:20:02 | 0:20:05
Everyone agreed. It was the best flying display they had ever seen. | 0:20:05 | 0:20:10
The judges clapped and gave a standing ovation. | 0:20:10 | 0:20:14
"Farmer Jolly wins first prize," they said. | 0:20:14 | 0:20:18
"Woo-hoo!" said the animals | 0:20:18 | 0:20:20
as they flew home to Flippity Farm. | 0:20:20 | 0:20:23
Farmer Jolly let Pig take the controls. | 0:20:23 | 0:20:27
"Hold her steady now," he said. | 0:20:27 | 0:20:29
It took a while for Pig to answer. | 0:20:29 | 0:20:31
"I can do it!" he said quietly. | 0:20:31 | 0:20:35
"I can really fly!" | 0:20:35 | 0:20:38
Now, let's see if my aeroplane will fly just like Farmer Jolly's. | 0:20:40 | 0:20:45
Well, maybe not quite as well. | 0:20:49 | 0:20:52
Perhaps I'll try again. And whilst I do, it's time for you to go to bed. | 0:20:52 | 0:20:57
I'll see you soon for another bedtime story. Night-night. | 0:20:57 | 0:21:01 |
