My Sister is an Alien CBeebies Bedtime Stories

This is one small step for a man,

but a giant leap for a teddy.

Hello. I'm Charlie. I was just moon walking with Teddy.

Wouldn't it be amazing to go to space and walk on the moon?

Alfie in tonight's story is space-mad and would love to go to the moon.

The story is by Rachel Bright and is called My Sister Is An Alien.

This is Alfie. His favourite things are...

one - aliens,

two - rockets,

three - the moon.

In that EXACT order.

He lives in a house with one mummy,

one daddy and a brand-new sister called Ruby.

Mummy talked a lot about Ruby -

"Isn't she lovely? Mummy and Daddy are over the moon."

But Alfie was thinking about aliens and heard,

"Blah-blah, blah-blah, blah-blah, MOON."

Daddy talked a lot about Ruby too -

"Oh, isn't she lovely? We must make some space for her."

But Alfie was drawing an astronaut and he heard,

"Blah-blah, blah-blah, blah-blah, SPACE."

And that was when Alfie realised, "My sister is an alien!

"From the moon!"

She looked like an alien,

she sounded like an alien,

she definitely smelt like an alien and she often cried for home.

Alfie decided he must get Ruby back to the moon where she belonged.

And he had just the thing to get her there -

his rocket.

Alfie spent time making it nice

so Ruby would have a lovely journey home.

He found space snacks in case Ruby was hungry on the way.

There was just enough time to dress in their spacesuits.

Then, they were ready to go.

Alfie climbed into the rocket with Ruby -

somebody responsible needed to drive - and began the countdown,

"three...two...one...lift-off!"

Alfie and Ruby soared through the air

over treetops and into starry darkness.

They flew and flew towards the moon.

And after not too long, made a soft landing.

The moon was amazing! Ruby looked happy

and the aliens were even friendlier than Alfie thought they would be.

They played all night long

until Alfie got sleepy and said, "Oh, Ruby, I'd better go home now."

But when he climbed into the rocket, he suddenly felt very sad.

"Ruby," he said, "do you think you might come back to Earth with me

"for just a bit longer?" And Ruby said, "Goo-oo-ooh."

So away they flew, back across the starry darkness,

over the treetops and all the way home.

That night, Ruby slept in Alfie's bed.

"Night, Ruby," whispered Alfie as they snuggled up together.

And Ruby gurgled, "Goo-oo-oo-oooh."

Now Alfie's favourite things are...

one - Ruby,

two - aliens,

three - rockets,

four - the moon.

In THAT EXACT order.

And that story was called My Sister Is An Alien.

Thank goodness Alfie realised Ruby was not an alien,

but his precious sister.

It's time for you to close your eyes and whizz off to outer space.
