CBeebies Bedtime Story. | 0:22:02 | 0:22:05
Hm. Oh, hello. I'm Sheila. | 0:22:11 | 0:22:15
I was just listening to some music. | 0:22:15 | 0:22:17
That's called jazz music. | 0:22:17 | 0:22:20
It's so gentle and smooth, it could send me to sleep. | 0:22:20 | 0:22:24
But I can't go to sleep | 0:22:24 | 0:22:26
because I need to tell you tonight's bedtime story. | 0:22:26 | 0:22:30
There's some music in tonight's story. | 0:22:30 | 0:22:32
The story is Mr Big. | 0:22:32 | 0:22:35
And it's by Ed Vere. | 0:22:35 | 0:22:37
Let me tell you a story about a friend of mine. | 0:22:39 | 0:22:43
He goes by the name of Big. Mr Big. | 0:22:43 | 0:22:48
Now, Mr Big had a small problem. | 0:22:48 | 0:22:51
Compared to everyone else, he was extremely big. | 0:22:51 | 0:22:57
He was so big that anywhere he went, | 0:22:57 | 0:23:00
all everyone ever saw was someone big and scary. | 0:23:00 | 0:23:04
No-one stuck around to find out who he really was. | 0:23:04 | 0:23:08
So, inside, Mr Big felt very, very small. | 0:23:08 | 0:23:12
And that's how it always was. | 0:23:12 | 0:23:14
When Mr Big went to the cafe, everyone had other things to do. | 0:23:16 | 0:23:21
When Mr Big got on the bus, everyone else got off. | 0:23:21 | 0:23:25
And when he went to the pool, well, | 0:23:25 | 0:23:28
let's just say everyone needed to be somewhere else. | 0:23:28 | 0:23:32
No-one ever saw the real Mr Big. | 0:23:32 | 0:23:36
One day, Mr Big noticed a piano in a shop window. | 0:23:36 | 0:23:42
It looked all alone, just like him. | 0:23:42 | 0:23:45
So he bought it and took it home. | 0:23:45 | 0:23:48
As Mr Big sat alone at the piano, | 0:23:48 | 0:23:51
he thought of all the things that made him sad. | 0:23:51 | 0:23:55
And then he played. | 0:23:55 | 0:23:57
His music drifted out through the open window | 0:23:57 | 0:24:01
and into the evening sky. | 0:24:01 | 0:24:03
It drifted across the rooftops, over to his neighbours. | 0:24:03 | 0:24:07
And they wondered who was playing such beautiful music. | 0:24:07 | 0:24:12
The word spread, and night after night, | 0:24:12 | 0:24:15
everyone came from all over town. | 0:24:15 | 0:24:18
And still, no-one knew who was playing. It was a big mystery. | 0:24:18 | 0:24:22
But inside, Mr Big was still alone. | 0:24:22 | 0:24:26
And then one morning, | 0:24:28 | 0:24:30
Mr Big received his first ever letter. | 0:24:30 | 0:24:34
It was an invitation. And it said, | 0:24:34 | 0:24:37
"Dear Mystery Pianist. | 0:24:37 | 0:24:39
"Thank you for your beautiful music. | 0:24:39 | 0:24:41
"Everyone has been listening to you for weeks. | 0:24:41 | 0:24:44
"And we're all wondering one thing - who are you? | 0:24:44 | 0:24:48
"We'd love to meet you. | 0:24:48 | 0:24:50
"Me and a couple of the guys are playing tonight at the Blue Note. | 0:24:50 | 0:24:54
"Please come and join our band. | 0:24:54 | 0:24:57
"See you later. A friend." | 0:24:57 | 0:24:59
That night, Mr Big joined the band. | 0:24:59 | 0:25:03
All night long, the joint was jumping | 0:25:03 | 0:25:07
and nobody wanted to leave. | 0:25:07 | 0:25:09
At last, everyone could see the real Mr Big. | 0:25:09 | 0:25:14
Now the Big Band has hit the big-time | 0:25:14 | 0:25:17
and everyone wants to meet them, Mr Big has a new problem. | 0:25:17 | 0:25:22
He doesn't get much time to be alone. | 0:25:22 | 0:25:25
And that's just the way he likes it. | 0:25:25 | 0:25:28
That story was called Mr Big. | 0:25:29 | 0:25:31
I'm glad Mr Big found some friends to make music with, aren't you? | 0:25:31 | 0:25:36
It's good to have friends, isn't it? | 0:25:36 | 0:25:39
Well, I'm going to listen to some more jazz music | 0:25:39 | 0:25:43
while you get ready for bed. | 0:25:43 | 0:25:46
I'll see you soon for another story. Night-night. | 0:25:46 | 0:25:49
