CBeebies Bedtime Story.

0:22:020:22:05

Hm. Oh, hello. I'm Sheila.

0:22:110:22:15

I was just listening to some music.

0:22:150:22:17

That's called jazz music.

0:22:170:22:20

It's so gentle and smooth, it could send me to sleep.

0:22:200:22:24

But I can't go to sleep

0:22:240:22:26

because I need to tell you tonight's bedtime story.

0:22:260:22:30

There's some music in tonight's story.

0:22:300:22:32

The story is Mr Big.

0:22:320:22:35

And it's by Ed Vere.

0:22:350:22:37

Let me tell you a story about a friend of mine.

0:22:390:22:43

He goes by the name of Big. Mr Big.

0:22:430:22:48

Now, Mr Big had a small problem.

0:22:480:22:51

Compared to everyone else, he was extremely big.

0:22:510:22:57

He was so big that anywhere he went,

0:22:570:23:00

all everyone ever saw was someone big and scary.

0:23:000:23:04

No-one stuck around to find out who he really was.

0:23:040:23:08

So, inside, Mr Big felt very, very small.

0:23:080:23:12

And that's how it always was.

0:23:120:23:14

When Mr Big went to the cafe, everyone had other things to do.

0:23:160:23:21

When Mr Big got on the bus, everyone else got off.

0:23:210:23:25

And when he went to the pool, well,

0:23:250:23:28

let's just say everyone needed to be somewhere else.

0:23:280:23:32

No-one ever saw the real Mr Big.

0:23:320:23:36

One day, Mr Big noticed a piano in a shop window.

0:23:360:23:42

It looked all alone, just like him.

0:23:420:23:45

So he bought it and took it home.

0:23:450:23:48

As Mr Big sat alone at the piano,

0:23:480:23:51

he thought of all the things that made him sad.

0:23:510:23:55

And then he played.

0:23:550:23:57

His music drifted out through the open window

0:23:570:24:01

and into the evening sky.

0:24:010:24:03

It drifted across the rooftops, over to his neighbours.

0:24:030:24:07

And they wondered who was playing such beautiful music.

0:24:070:24:12

The word spread, and night after night,

0:24:120:24:15

everyone came from all over town.

0:24:150:24:18

And still, no-one knew who was playing. It was a big mystery.

0:24:180:24:22

But inside, Mr Big was still alone.

0:24:220:24:26

And then one morning,

0:24:280:24:30

Mr Big received his first ever letter.

0:24:300:24:34

It was an invitation. And it said,

0:24:340:24:37

"Dear Mystery Pianist.

0:24:370:24:39

"Thank you for your beautiful music.

0:24:390:24:41

"Everyone has been listening to you for weeks.

0:24:410:24:44

"And we're all wondering one thing - who are you?

0:24:440:24:48

"We'd love to meet you.

0:24:480:24:50

"Me and a couple of the guys are playing tonight at the Blue Note.

0:24:500:24:54

"Please come and join our band.

0:24:540:24:57

"See you later. A friend."

0:24:570:24:59

That night, Mr Big joined the band.

0:24:590:25:03

All night long, the joint was jumping

0:25:030:25:07

and nobody wanted to leave.

0:25:070:25:09

At last, everyone could see the real Mr Big.

0:25:090:25:14

Now the Big Band has hit the big-time

0:25:140:25:17

and everyone wants to meet them, Mr Big has a new problem.

0:25:170:25:22

He doesn't get much time to be alone.

0:25:220:25:25

And that's just the way he likes it.

0:25:250:25:28

That story was called Mr Big.

0:25:290:25:31

I'm glad Mr Big found some friends to make music with, aren't you?

0:25:310:25:36

It's good to have friends, isn't it?

0:25:360:25:39

Well, I'm going to listen to some more jazz music

0:25:390:25:43

while you get ready for bed.

0:25:430:25:46

I'll see you soon for another story. Night-night.
