Now, what on earth are you doing here? | 0:23:34 | 0:23:38
Hello, little fella. | 0:23:39 | 0:23:41
Hello! | 0:23:41 | 0:23:43
My name's Jonas, | 0:23:43 | 0:23:45
and I've found this teddy beside the bookcase, | 0:23:45 | 0:23:48
and I don't know who it belongs to. | 0:23:48 | 0:23:51
Do you know? It's exciting, finding things, isn't it? | 0:23:53 | 0:23:57
It's especially exciting finding new friends, | 0:23:57 | 0:24:00
and that's what happens in tonight's story. | 0:24:00 | 0:24:04
Dragon meets somebody new and wants to learn all about them. | 0:24:04 | 0:24:08
This is by Timothy Knapman and Gwen Millward, | 0:24:08 | 0:24:11
and it's called Guess What I Found In Dragon Wood? | 0:24:11 | 0:24:14
You'll never guess what I found the other day. | 0:24:14 | 0:24:18
It's called a Benjamin. I didn't know what to do with it, | 0:24:18 | 0:24:22
so I took it home to meet my parents. | 0:24:22 | 0:24:25
Mum thought it wanted something to eat, so she cooked it a meal | 0:24:25 | 0:24:29
with the ponkiest fish, and the rankiest, mankiest worms, | 0:24:29 | 0:24:33
but it turned out it wasn't even hungry. | 0:24:33 | 0:24:37
"Can it sleep in my room, Mum?" I asked. | 0:24:37 | 0:24:40
"Well, I don't know if he's ever slept in a bed before," | 0:24:40 | 0:24:44
said Mum, "but he does look very tired." | 0:24:44 | 0:24:47
So, I gave it some pyjamas, and guess what? | 0:24:47 | 0:24:50
Its feet weren't stripy, after all. | 0:24:50 | 0:24:53
Next morning, I took it to meet my friends. | 0:24:53 | 0:24:56
"We're going to school," I said, | 0:24:56 | 0:24:58
"and today we're going to learn how to sit on a volcano!" | 0:24:58 | 0:25:02
The Benjamin didn't look keen. | 0:25:02 | 0:25:04
Perhaps there aren't schools where it's from. When he saw the Benjamin, | 0:25:04 | 0:25:09
Mr Crockface said volcano-sitting class was cancelled, | 0:25:09 | 0:25:13
as you don't see a Benjamin every day, | 0:25:13 | 0:25:16
and we could learn lots from something so strange. | 0:25:16 | 0:25:19
And the Benjamin was VERY strange. It got around without wings, | 0:25:19 | 0:25:25
it had soft, stick-out stuff on its head, and where were its scales? | 0:25:25 | 0:25:30
Its claws were blunt. Its tail had dropped off! | 0:25:30 | 0:25:33
No wonder its roar was more like a squeak! | 0:25:33 | 0:25:36
And instead of breathing fire, it leaked water out of its eyes. | 0:25:36 | 0:25:42
You see, it turned out that the Benjamin was homesick. | 0:25:42 | 0:25:46
He told us of the far away, magical land he comes from, | 0:25:46 | 0:25:50
a land full of Benjamins! | 0:25:50 | 0:25:53
Can you imagine it?! | 0:25:53 | 0:25:54
They think dragons are story stuff and make-believe! | 0:25:54 | 0:25:58
"So," I said, "you don't fly? You don't roar or breathe fire? | 0:25:58 | 0:26:03
"What DO you do?". | 0:26:03 | 0:26:06
I know. It looks silly, doesn't it? Apparently, it's called football. | 0:26:06 | 0:26:11
The Benjamin promised it'd be fantastic, and it was! | 0:26:11 | 0:26:15
But, you're not supposed to fly in the penalty area, | 0:26:15 | 0:26:18
eat the ball or burn the goalposts. So many things to remember! | 0:26:18 | 0:26:24
We had an awfully nice afternoon, but when it was time to go home, | 0:26:24 | 0:26:29
the Benjamin looked like he was going to leak again. | 0:26:29 | 0:26:32
"Do you miss your mummy and daddy?" I said, and the Benjamin nodded. | 0:26:32 | 0:26:37
"I'll miss you," I said, but I knew it was time for him to go. | 0:26:37 | 0:26:41
Besides, I really wanted to see the land of the Benjamins, | 0:26:41 | 0:26:45
so I asked my friends if they'd like to come with us, | 0:26:45 | 0:26:49
but I think they were too scared, and I was a little anxious myself. | 0:26:49 | 0:26:54
I only met one Benjamin, how would I cope in a country full of them? | 0:26:54 | 0:26:59
But the Benjamin was so happy to be going home, I had to smile. | 0:26:59 | 0:27:03
It was an awfully long way. Far, far across the seas, | 0:27:03 | 0:27:07
but it was just as beautiful as he said it would be. | 0:27:07 | 0:27:10
Mind you, the Benjamins have a very funny way of saying hello. | 0:27:10 | 0:27:15
When I got back home, I told all my friends about the wheel boxes, | 0:27:15 | 0:27:20
wow noises, and the whirly-birds with the flashing lamps. | 0:27:20 | 0:27:24
They were very excited. "Will you ever go back?" they asked. | 0:27:24 | 0:27:29
"Of course!" I said. "The Benjamin wants me to meet HIS teacher!" | 0:27:29 | 0:27:34
Or, was that EAT his teacher...? I wasn't quite sure. | 0:27:34 | 0:27:39
I've got to go now - football practice! | 0:27:39 | 0:27:43
That story was called Guess What I Found In Dragon Wood? | 0:27:45 | 0:27:49
Oh... | 0:27:49 | 0:27:51 | |
I wonder if Benjamin or the dragon left this teddy? | 0:27:52 | 0:27:56
Maybe I should find them, or maybe I should wait until tomorrow, | 0:27:56 | 0:28:00
as it's time for bed, and I'll see you soon for another story. | 0:28:00 | 0:28:04
Goodnight! | 0:28:04 | 0:28:07 |
